256GB SD card working - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

Everything i can find on the internet says our galaxy s4 only supports up to 64GB sd cards but I just bought a cheap ($14) 256GB Class 10 micro sd card and my M919 is reading it fine. I'm running 5.0.1
If this has already been discussed else ware, sorry for the re-post!

Download the H2TESTW program to your PC and run it to determine the true capacity of your card, because I'm 99% certain you just got ripped off. Currently, the largest MicroSD card is 200GB, by Sandisk.

Definitely a fake. 200+ gb in microsd cannot feasibly be sold for $14 without taking a major loss. But if/when a real 256gb microsd card is made, the S4 will likely work with it. I don't believe there is a hard upper limit on the capacity supported by the S4's card slot.

Yeah, package might say it, but plug it into your computer and check the bytes on it.

try to copy data on that fake sd (200gb) . after 16gb or 32gb later you will get error .

Yeah it's probably fake
Nothing will cost that cheap!

probably china fake

Wanna buy a bridge?

For a class 10 SD you pay about 1 euro per GB, it is probalby a class 2 which has 4-16GB on it.

China fake

it's definitely a fake one.

Stay away from that bridge. It will fail! I have a tunnel you can buy for much cheaper!

3. Sansung 64GB $65

I bought the Samsung card because it was said that it is the most reliable. So far no problems.
I have the Sandisk Ultra, no complaints.
i have the 2nd and 3rd cards you listed. both work very well for me. if you look around you can get good deals on the samsung card. i got one on ebay for $23. you do have to look out for counterfeits. luckily mine was legit.
I have the SanDisk Ultra 64GB in my S4 right now.
It works, but I'm getting sporadic "unexpected SD card removal" message followed by "preparing SD card". It seems like the card got unmounted and remounted by itself!
This usually happens whenever I open my Gallery. (I have set my camera to auto save images to the external SD card)
I'm not sure if it's hardware or software issue...
I bought the Samsung. It's very quick and so far has worked without any issues. Even formatted as exFAT.
Writes really are 20MB/s, though I topped out at 40 for reads.
I got this card reader to go with it: http://www.amazon.com/Anker®-Uspeed-Reader-Support-Warranty/dp/B006T9B6R2/
I used the samsung sd card at first, until it completely died! I lost all my backups etc. Now i use a kingston one. Just 8gb. Im still nervous this one will die too.

Best of both worlds:
- Samsung NAND
- Great price
I've used it w/both FAT32 and exFAT formats, and performs beautifully.
I have the Ultra, works great in my phone. Have all my music on it.
I have the SanDisk Ultra 64 GB. It's okay, but I had to RMA it with SanDisk a few months ago.

I ran across this article which tested the Sandisk Extreme card on a PC with USB 3.0, and also in a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone.

It turns out, the S4 does not take advantage of the increased speed of the Extreme card. Thus, it does not seem worth paying the premium dollars for this card.
Samsung 32gb
I have the 32gb version of the Samsung mini sd card and it works perfectly!
Finally, received mine. Check out the review @ 64GB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC UHS-I Card Review

Sure, Samsung cards have 10 years warranty.
I got a Samsung 32GB plus (UHS-i) in HK ( price 179HKD), the read/write speed from SD tools is about 19.8MB/12.6MB (my S4 is i-9505)

[Q] Looking for a compatible micro SD card

First off, let me say that I have done a lot of searching, and I'm aware that the Samsung Galaxy S 4 has problems with some micro SD cards. What I couldn't find (and please forgive me if I overlooked something obvious) was a well tested micro SD card that is compatible. Mine stopped working and, as far as I could find, there was no solution.
Does anybody know of a cheap micro SD card that is at least 16GB and less than $20 that works with the S 4?
I use an 8GB PNY or Kensington (can't remember which) micro SD in my sgh-i337 Galaxy S4 with no issues. I also have one of the same micro SD brands above in my At&t Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S2.
I use a Microcenter's generic MicroSD Card in mine and have no problems, it's probably the cheapest card you can get since they are sold without packaging. If you have a microcenter near you they sell them at the cashier, I got a 32gb card class 10 for $14 (16gb for $8) and I have had no problems with it over the last year.
http://tinyurl.com/mfls87d
If you need fast transfer speeds I use a Samsung sdcard for my DSLR which gets around 80mb/s transfer speeds as advertised and they sell a microsd that gets 48mb/s for not much more than the microcenter one. You'll only ever need this if you transfer extremely large files. (I can't say whether or not this works with the s4, but since it's a Samsung brand can only assume)

I use http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DM1BDPK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks everyone.
In my personal experience, I've had the best success with SanDisk brand MicroSD cards. I've been using a 64GB SDXC card (reformatted FAT32) since the day I got my S4 (at launch), and it hasn't faltered on me one bit (meaning 18 months and counting). I've also had success with them in a variety of previous phones. They're also reasonably priced and available just about anywhere that matters.
Got one of these ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00J2BSW9O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 ... works fine. Left it formatted as it came as the phone sees it as 64GB but Windows (XP Pro) would only see it as 32GB. If I plug it into a card reader that's a problem but if I browse/copy files via wifi it makes no difference.
So far very quick!

You do realize that this is faker than Milli Vanilli, right? Apart from saying "Ultra" on the packaging but "Extreme" on the card, the cheap price is a dead give-away. A Sandisk 128gb microSD card will be $85-90 minimum, more for higher data transfer speeds.

Go with Amazon, unless Wal*Mart's prices are the same. Amazon usually has the best prices, and they can definitely be trusted as long as you're buying directly from them or the purchase is "fulfilled" by them.
Went to Best Buy and got a Samsung Evo 64 gigabyte $30 I'm still having problems... I took my old SD card copied it all to my desktop in a folder. Then plug in phone with new card format using phone and then drag and drop but the folder DCIM with all my pics and videos transfers half way and than an error pops up saying the phone disconnected or something. I have tried using the ten different card readers I have and many times Windows Vista or Xp says Windows cannot read card w/o formatting which does NOT work.
Got it working. Using the adapter that came with the microSD card
I'm of the opinion that eBay is not a good place to go for SD cards. I'm using a Samsung Evo 32 GB card (purchased in-person from MicroCenter) in my Avant and it's been trouble-free.
One thing to watch out for if you're using a card reader on a PC: make sure it can handle MicroSDXC cards.

200GB Sd

I see in the specs that the SD is limited to 200GB. I have a 256gb - wll that be recognized but limited to 200gb, or will it not be recognized at all?
If so, could it be partitioned to 200gb to get around this limitation?
From what I've heard they said 200 because that's where the technology is. Why say 1tb when there is no 1tb. So in theory it should work.

Saw someone on here in another thread (might have been the Int. S7 forum) that said they had a "200GB" SD. Didn't seem right. It should be 256GB but what do I know. Turns out SanDisk makes a 200GB card... weird, right? Anyway, they do exist.
Edit: from what I'm reading around the web, 200GB is the current cap on microSD cards? A 256GB card is most likely fake and will read at 200 or lower capacity. Is this right?

I been using sandisk 200 gp sd card with 90 mgbs transfer and it works great. SD cards of that size do exist. I should have clarified that I was talking about MicroSD, no standard sized cards. 200GB is the largest MicroSD size currently available.
I take that back there is a 512GB MicroSD but at about $1,000 (US) I don't think many here have it lol. Who made your 512GB card? Have you tested it to make sure it actually hold that much? Cons are very tricky and its very easy to change the capacity a card reports to a computer.

it is a microsd and was bought on ebay. came from china. on a pc or on the phone it clocks in at about 500 gb.

That's what you were being told. It's easy for those cons to make a 32gb card tell a pc or even a phone that it's actually 500gb. The test is to see how much you can actually put on it before you get errors. I bought a 64gb card on Ebay and it came from China. I learned very quickly that it couldn't handle that much data. I moved a few apps over no problem but as soon as I moved 20gb of music over I could no longer read the card. Get rid of the music and the card is readable. I complained to the seller and they said they'd exchange it. Well for the price and the time it took I decided not to. At the very least I got a thumb drive style microsd card reader out of that deal.
I wish 512 gb memory cards were affordablr

Mate, run it through H2Test. You can probably get away with just running the 1st 16gb, I use 32gb but I'm a pedantic little sh!t.
If it's fake, it will fail at around the 8gb mark.
The 1st 2,4 or 8gb's are usually fine but anything after gets corrupted. H2Test will let you know if the card is real or fake.
I got a 256gb micro sd card off ebay from a seller that was there since 2006, good reputation and very little negative feedback. The card was packaged like a Samsung card, had everything right. Ran it through H2Test and found after the 1st 7.5gb that everything was corrupted.
I found out why the seller has such a good rating as I complained, got my money back, within 30 minutes at 10:30pm at night, but then couldn't leave feedback.
Most people throw the sd card into their PC or phone, it says that it's xxx size and they think it''s fine. Trouble is, after they fill up the 8gb then they loose anything they save be it photo's, video or documents.
Very upsetting if you take a photo of your kids or someone you love only to find it doesn't exist later, just a header with no data...
Unfortunately there are a lot of sellers out there who either honestly don't know or are out to sell to suckers and these knockoff cards are becoming far too common and are almost, if not are, indistinguishable from the real items...
Lesson here, if it's too good to be true, it usually is...
Good luck with your card, but at that price I REALLY am suspicious and you would have to be some kind of idiot not to test it out before loosing those precious memories forever....
Bro you get what you pay for, and 256gb run north of $150 range so if you see a version going for 8 pounds which is what one that's like 32gb goes, then youre likely to get that as well.
Never had a prob with the Sandisk Ive had it for a year and a half and outlasted my phone that just soft bricked. I highly recommend their stuff, Ive never tried the Samsung versions, they were not out when I was shopping for mine at the time
