Samsung is really screwing us by taking away external storage, look! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

I was at best but checking out the note 5 and I saw this. I'm really not buying this now. They are pretty much forcing you to buy the 64gb version for $80 more dollars. 11gb free GTFO!

how many times are you going to post the same thread? This isnt a true Tmo device as this was from best buy which is said to take up more storage space than one that you would buy from TMO. This thread should be deleted.

Here you go. I've had mine since this morning. Although I purchased the 64GB version, roughly 11GB is being used including bloat ware. You can relax now.

I have the 32 with 113 apps installed and I have 21 gigs left

150 apps, 32GB version......

Pointless thread...
Everyone is going to have to get use to the idea of no SD card... really, unless you save everything, delete nothing, store all your music on your phone, never delete pictures and take 10 minute videos in 4K frequently... 32GB with cloud services is plenty.... I was going to buy the 64GB but really thought about it and glad I did not. Paying for the 64GB is like asking samsung to kick you in the privates and take your money at the same time, 128gb even more so. $200+ premium for memory that only cost maybe $15 to $25 in real life is just dumb... Apple pulls the same crap too... Yes, it takes a little more management of your device but honestly well worth it to save $100 to $200... plus with unlimited high speed data with TMO and the fact that it's my Jump On Demand Device that I will probably get rid of in a few months... just not worth it.
:good:
Would it be a nice bonus if it did, yes... it also be nice if it went to work for me, cooked my dinner and washed my car... however, i live with the fact that it can't do those things for me, so too I live with it not having SD Slot....

21gb free on my 32gb Note 5, with plenty of apps installed.

Just finished setting mine up.

Theres mine with about 120 apps installed. Though I wanted the 64 gig, it wasn't avail in store and after having a 64gig Nexus 6 and not using half of it, I decided to save some money. I have unlimited LTE on TMobile so cloud usage for me is just fine.

Op, you know those phones at stores have a crap load of demo software on them, right?

I do now thanks for everyone who posted. Even though most have a lot of apps installed, it's the videos and photos that will eat up the memory.

Then dont buy it. i for one am happy with my Note 5, thank you samsung especially for the 4gb of memory now!!

Now that I got the crick out of my neck from that sideways picture, you also need to note (pun totally intended) that there has been ~5GB of files added to the phone. I had 51GB free on my 64GB Note 5, and still have 20-some after copying my music over.

[Q] How can they sell these this cheap?

The same thing shopping on google is $100-$120 http://www.google.com/products?q=32...SearchBox&oe=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wf
my experience is that cheap ebay stuff is usually just as good. probably fell off a truck or the seller has some sort of connect. i'd trust it tho
they probably have like 50 of them so the price is not a issue for them Ebay is generally safe got my droid 2 for 50 bucks
Probably counterfeit
You have to be careful with media cards...there's quite a big counterfeiting business in them...from what I've read.

I wouldn't waste my time. These cards are most likely fake. They show up to windows, your phone, or whatever as 32 gb but will really be a lot less. Once at capacity, for example 2gb, extra data becomes corrupted. Having the sandisk logo doesn't mean anything, there is a lot of fakes out there. The general rule is that if somethings too good to be true, it is.

His feed back looks pretty good to me. It's super easy to check for 32 gig's obviously if it isn't there then contact the seller. Worst case you lose $12 for a couple extra gigs. I might buy one

This is very true. The digital camera folks have a lot to say about this. The cards can be formatted way beyond their actual capacity, and then fail dramatically. When they go, they're gone. Here's a couple of articles I found:

I wish you guys the best of luck, but I'd also be real careful about keeping your stuff backed up off-site. I'd sure hate to lose all my nandroids!

Where's the 32GB Damnit!

The waiting is killing me? Anyone have contacts on this inside of ATT?
The links I have been following have dried up. Disappointing to say the least. Will not buy the 16gb model. The new LG has my attn atm--not quite the S4, but more than satisfactory for my needs. It may cost Samsung sales.
I wanna know the same thing
IM DYING HERE! so over my apple iphone, its sickening me!
It's a huge BS blame game. AT&T's people claim that Samsung isn't providing the 32GB yet and Samsung claims AT&T hasn't asked for it yet. Of course, there are no "official" releases from either yet, just Twitter, Facebook, and forum replies from people that claim to know. It seams as though AT&T is the only US carrier that said they would carry the 32GB but only "soon" has been hinted as to when. And no one (AND I MEAN NO ONE) at AT&T is willing to talk about it. I'm sure it's like all of the rest of AT&T's screw-ups, they hope it will go away if enough time goes by and people will forget about it.

Because apps cant install to SD card simple as that. This is a bs Google move so what good does an sd card give me if my apps can't use it and with games being 2gb in size now it goes away quick. I have a 64gb card and only few apps installed and I am down to 6gb free space and my SD card hasn't been touched. Piss poor programming by Google by doing this with the OS.

I agree. Even though I went ahead and got a 16 gb, I think its BS that google changed that. Does anyone know why exactly?
I really wish these carriers would pull their heads out of their a** and start being able to offer multiple storage sizes. Even with an SD slot, they can release the fruit phone with multiple choices, why can't we have that same luxury with samsung?
Just my 2 cents.
This is why these android manufacturers can't compete with iPhone. The reason Google did this is for greed. They want you to store all your stuff on their servers so they can mine it for data and deliver you targeted ads. This is their sole business and money maker. Why do you think they made android free in first place.

My dad was sad when I chose the Navy over the Air Force. He's retired AF.
As an indirect we have almost the same phones as AT&T, we use the same system they use. Just we charge less for the phone. We have the S4 for 149.99. The htc one for 149.99 and the 32gb one for 189.99. The s4 32gb is 189.99 as well when we start to sell it.

[Q] [Poll] Are you getting 16GB or 32GB?

I haven't decided. I have the 32GB nexus 7 2013 and I haven't used more than 10GB honestly. I put movies on it, watch them, then delete them on the device when I'm done... My music is on the cloud and I only use this at home.
I can say I won't be putting movies on my N5 and the apps will be on the more productive side of things rather than entertainment. i think the only things that will take up most space are my TWRP and titanium backups. Music will be on the cloud as well.
I personally think 16GB is more than enough for anyone who uses Google Services and does not rely on their N5 as their primary media device. I feel that tablets require more space in general though...
I will get the 32gb on my 16gb n4 my music took a lot of storage so no room for games apps etc...
It really depends if the 32gb is 50 or 100$ more and how much money I have at that time. Honestly I'd be okay with 8gb but I'd rather have too much storage than not enough.
32GB all the way. I do not use cloud services for music(in canada not even sure if they are available to me yet) so music fills my phone VERY fast. I have to keep deleting or moving things on my current phone when i wand to add a movie or game to it. Games also take up a large part. Can never have to much storage and the price is normally not different enough to not make it worth it. I mean if the 32GB was twice the price then i would go for 16 but if it's like 50-100 bucks then why not.

I'm basically in the same boat. First I bought the 16gb N4 and barely used any space. I never store anything on it because I'm a flashaholic. I flash a new ROM at least once a week, and I don't want to have to deal with transferring stuff to my phone after every flash. When the Nexus 7 2013 came out, I decided to give my storage space a bump to 32gb because I thought I'd install more games and stuff. Same situation; I flashed new stuff all the time so I barely used the space. I've actually started settling down on the flashing of my tablet for just those reasons. I'm going to start putting those games and maybe shows on my tablet.
So to answer your question: I'm not 100% sure yet. I'm more than happy to shell out the extra dough for expanded storage even if I might need it, but if I never end up using it, I don't want to feel like I wasted that extra money. If only I could see the future and tell my future needs
32gb for sure but my 16gb nexus hasent really yet got storage problems as i got 3 big games 3 songs and not many videos yet but i can say a lot of photos happily n5 will have otg i hope! right now i really got big screen hunger i want to work whit big screen nexus is small i mean for a phone not but i want to try a tablet but im also addicated to nexus feelings and stuff!!! i wish google also announce new nexus 10 so i can at least see

Yup me too. Same thing.
Videos - YouTube, Youtube/movies on tablet when I'm at home, load up a few movies on phone for trips if needed.
Music - Google Music, Pandora.
Games - I don't play serious games on my phone. I got a Gaming PC for that Haha. I play some games on the tablet.
Pictures - Synced with the cloud. They don't take up much space anyways..
I got the unlimited data.
Would there be a 64GB version?
16GB, I don't store things on my phone so 16GB is more than enough.
In the same boat on whether to get the 16 or 32 if it will be out. my n4 still has a lot of space. i'll probably just stick with the 16gb if ever.

LG Nexus 5 16GB - Still worth it?

Hey guys tomorrow I may be getting a new smartphone and I was thinking if the LG Nexus 5 (16GB) is still worth it. The maximum I can afford is 350 euros. I'm not gonna pay more than that. I also have the option to choose between this one and LG G3S 8GB or LG G2 16GB. Which should I get and why? Thank you.
Out of those three get the Nexus, although if you can find one get a 32GB just for peace of mind. As for why, it's a Nexus so it's just better

Thanks! Another question: is it possible to install apps on external SD card? I currently own a chinese brand that let's me move most of the apps to the SD card. Can you do that on the Nexus 5? I'm asking this because I doubt I'll find the 32GB version.

There is no external SD card. You'd have to buy and otg cable ansbuab memory stick. You can then move sdcard data to otg using root apps such as folder mount.
Buy a used from Craigslist if you have one.

Be careful when buying from craigslist IMO. I bought mine from a guy who posted his ad on craigslist.. worked for 2-3 days then it wouldn't work. it turned out the phone was stolen and got blacklisted at least in Canada.
I haven't had trouble on craigslist. If you go that route have the person meet you at your service provider so they can check the imei. Works for me.
Yuup! Totally worth it. I have been using a Nexus 5 16GB for about 4 months now. Although a 32GB version is recommended if u can afford it, since Nexus 5 don't have External Memory!
I'd take a 1+1

Too bad I couldn't find the 32GB version anywhere. Where I live this phone is sold out. All I could find is the 16GB version on a website. I've already ordered it. I'm gonna be satisfied with it but it's really a pain in the oven the fact that I couldn't find the 32gb version. By the way I'm no expert in rooting/kernels/roms etc but from what I can see this phone has very good support. Thanks guys!!
EDIT: Guys, I just got owned. The same website sells LG G2 32GB at 350 euros. Would you guys cancel the order for this new option?

Too late. But I'm still satisfied. 16GB is gonna be enough for me. I'm not an enthusiastic gamer but I do like to play sometimes. Usually if I get tired of a game I just delete it. I'm not into music so much, so songs don't bother me so much. A couple of apps wouldn't even get closer to 1GB (I'm not talking about gaming apps). I don't know about the typical sizes of kernels/roms but I think 16GB is plenty for my needs. Thanks.

The OS is about 5 GB so you`ll have about 11 GB of user space left.

Well, I'll learn to survive at the limit. In the future (2,5+ years later if it endures all the pain) I'll probably switch to N6 32GB.
The fact that the OS's size is 5GB sounds like a 'tricky scam' from the producers to me. The phone should have about 21GB total memory not 16 then.

I ended up cancelling the order lol. I had ordered an anti-shock protection as well for the N5 but what's interesting is that they'd bring them to me separately (two different transport packages lol - which is more expensive). I sent a message to them saying if they could bring those 2 requests together and they said no, they had to bring them separately. I ended up cancelling both of them.

I had one and sold it, couldnt deal with their bull**** system. So many bugs and quirks, granted its a new company, but not for me. Went back to the N5 for the stability.

LG Google Drive Promotion 100GB for 2 Years

I just logged into my google drive app on the LG V10. They offered me a promotion of 100 gigs for 2 years. Anyone else receive this...?
Yep, I got it too.
Do you have to buy from LG to get this? I'm snagging it today with Jump On Demand.
No bought mine from TMO and got the 100 gb

Yep, that plus the free battery and charger feels like LG giving Samsung and the Note 5 the finger lol.
I didn't get it...I'm on Verizon. Somehow that doesn't surprise me. Did you guys do anything special, or just simply log into Drive?

If your Google Drive already had other promotions applied to it before, you may not qualify. Or maybe Verizon did not participate in this promotion.

Already had other promotions applied to my Google Drive, but added the 100gb storage promotion first time I logged on to my Google Drive with the V10. With the addition of the SD, Battery, and charger promotion, and the lower priced bootloader unlocked T-mobile V10, it's making an already good deal even sweeter!
Yeah, when I clicked on the promo from my phone, it said I wasn't eligible (I already purchase 80GB/year from Google on a legacy plan), but when I went into my Google the next day, it said I had almost 200GB of space. Very very cool! Thinking of canceling my legacy plan. LG just keeps saving me money. Between the battery/storage promo, then this? Awesome.
Got mine.
This phone is a WINNER.
Free 200GB card, free battery, free charging cradle, 100GB of drive space. Can't beat that.
Where do u see the promo? Any one with Verizon get it?

And the great thing is the phone doesn't suck! On the contrary, I love it and it feels like a definitely worthy Note alternative
Hm. Welp, skipped this offer when I first saw the screen, now am not getting it back again. Ah well.
Sent from my LG-H901 using XDA Free mobile app
Yeah, this is def a sweet deal. Only downside is once the 2 years are up. You'll go back down to whatever you previously had, or will need to pay subscription to continue to receive the extra space.
I get free unlimited storage through my .edu account, and still never use it.
Pretty cool of them, regardless.
