There's a few more that I tried that work also, like the network speed indicator, custom carrier labels and a few others

I mean I'm happy about it because there are some things I really do want, such as pandora patcher and snapprefs, but otherwise kind of sad about this. Means not as many people are going to want the mods I make. Its a happy and sad day.

My question to you Soooperstar, would you rather use xposed for things like that or have them built into a rom you are using? Now that we have it I'm trying to decide what mods are worth building anymore. I personally still like mods that are hard coded into the rom because they save on memory and battery not using something else to run them.

[Q] Opinion on GenericGinger v2

Has anyone used this ROM
simply-android.com/discussion/1763/rom-genericginger-2.0-for-sidekick-4g-t-mobile-updated-120911/p1
I've been going through ROMs every few days or so trying to find one i like and i flashed this one today. I'm not sure how i feel about its speed, i guess i was just curious if anyone else has tried it and what they thought
Wow, didn't even know these ROMs existed
Probably the smoothest rom out there right now.

Well I just flashed this ROM, thank god I've been itching to test another ROM since the developer drought, I have to admit, this is amazing, so far, I can change my lock screen, this is very smooth and amazingly 2.3.5 like. More amazing features that I have found but I must say, very worth flashing.
yeah its not ginger clone it uses a lot of the framework of overdose it seems. I actually would like to get gingerclone going again but the links are broken.
Yeah, this rom is pretty smooth. I haven't noticed anything buggy on it yet.
Only thing I noticed is that it doesn't have a Task Manager.

Stock KJ2 does that, so I don't think it's really a rom issue per se. Seems like it doesn't keep the launcher layout in memory during high usage or something.

Yea one of our phones main problems is a severe lack of RAM, so the launcher usually has a hard time staying open when something else is bugging out the memory.
Sent from the phone everyone has forgotten about!
You can try using something like launcher pro and setting it to keep in memory, not necessairly guaranteeing that won't have other problems though...

Use the v6 supercharged script, this will lock your home screen in memory and take care of that issue entirely
How do I run that script?

Try going to this website: www.google.com, it's something called a "search engine" then type "v6 supercharger XDA" in the box and see what happens!!! It's a really useful website for finding things!!!

Please know that ROM is essentially my gingerclone ROM with all the same asop apps and framework as well (with changes of course). I'm sure its updated to KJ2 with lockscreen mod by now but the poster of the ROM didn't even bother to change the OP format from my GC post. I'm not saying don't use his ROM.. if you like it do so, I'm jus speaking up because he didn't properly credit me or Sduvick. He's on XDA and used to post on the forums so idk why didn't he say something about it.

The main thread should be limited to major error/bug reports and logcats - use this thread for all the general conversation and questions/answers stuffs.
Hope you guys like it!
Downloading now testing shortly! (grumble grumble) ...stupid 8 thanks per day limit...
Ok - just wanted to share this as it was frustrating me and didn't make the 2.0 release... but I managed to figure it out
An early start to 2.1 I suppose...

Same way you do it with stock - you have to open up the app drawer, hit the menu button, then select edit. You may need to switch the view type first - do that, and then you can drag things from the app drawer into the dock and vice versa.
Hey again -
To the few that do try this rom out - feel free to drop suggestions for other things to try and work in (beyond lockscreens of course). While I do have one known (and one unknown) surprise ready, I'd like to get a few more things worked into an update if at all possible. I can't say I'll be able to work in what is suggested, but I'll give it a shot at least
Having an updated tw launcher or a different launcher with the ability to have 5 or 6 apps in the dock would be all that I would ask for. Everything else is fantastic. Thanks for all your efforts.

Yeah I've thought about such things, but I always circle back to the idea that there are so many great 3rd party launchers out there I should let it be to encourage folks to explore those options lol. I also am leery on putting in a launcher that has a pay version or has the whole ask-for-permission hassle (that's not really a hassle), but I'll keep my eyes peeled for something different.
I am of course open to suggestions

Google Now should have been working - all the stuff from the referenced link was added for it anyway. How is it different now vs. when you first flashed the ROM? Could you get me a screenshot of what it looks like for you now? Perhaps I missed something...
LOL on the swag toggle - I meant to change how that behaved. The toggle is there for fun only, but to mess with people on the Gingerbread build I had it set to force download mode if you turned it on while auto-brightness is turned on - I forgot to change that, my bad
EDIT: Derp... I see what I forgot... Ok, it will be fixed in 2.1, sorry about that For those not wanting to go and flash anything, all you need to do is delete /system/app/GoogleQuickSearchBox_USA.apk and then reboot and all will be well. My bad.

Yep - everything in that is already in the rom, I just forgot to remove an apk. D'oh.
First off - thanks to those that have offered some feedback on this, it is very much appreciated. That being said, I know not many have tried this out but I'm getting an update together, so I wanted to ask if anyone has noticed anything else not working quite as they expected or anything that should be changed/added/removed...?
I haven't come across anything I wanna do with the launcher yet, but I have cleaned up a few things in the toggles, Google Now is now working as it should, I fixed another little bug I found when you first turn on wifi after flashing... outside of that is there anything people have found that I should address before updating? No worries if not - like I said not many have tried this out, but I'd like to get all the little issues ironed out before updating if possible.

Just got done flashing on stock odexed MDL and I gotta say that it's alright. I'm gonna give it a few more hours and see. Initially, what I don't like about it so far (or not used to it so far) is the abrupt way in which the screen pops off and pops back in.

Shouldn't depend on the launcher...my guess is that it's one of a couple things:
1. Go to Settings>Developer Options, scroll down, and make sure that the window/transition/animator durations aren't at 0.0x. If you want to feel the full effect of the animations (and tweak later based on your performance preferences), I recommend starting them all at 1.0x.
2. Go to Nova Launcher Settings>Look & Feel, then scroll down to "App Animations" and make sure SYSTEM is checked. It's possible that you have a custom setting here (I remember I did at one point) that is overriding the framework anims.
Good luck!
Thanks, the developer settings were all OFF.
I set them all to 1.0, now I see some differences.
But, I was expecting extreme differences from all the posts.
Thanks again.

So, before installing the CrossBreeder mod, http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2113150
I was saying, okay, it does something, sometimes, but now it is way cool.
Guess CrossBreeder kicked my phone in the ass!
Sprint S4, stock odex MDL, CF-Auto-Root, TWRP recovery, Hot Spot mod, XPosed Framework and mods,
[KERNEL] (004_r3)TouchWiz(UV/Intelliplug/dyn fsync/FauxSound/Hybrid Linux 3.4+) -
[MOD] CrossBreeder - 6.13.13-Lag Reduce/Entropy/DNS+/Tether+/Adblock/Censor Bypass
After setting the Window Animation to 1x, this mod became smooth and less abrupt and therefore more pleasing.
These are really nice, good find indeed, thank you

Wondering if anyone could take the time to build a very basic rom that has app ops and supersu built in. just odexed to use with art as its not really worth having xposed since all i look for is app ops, supersu and maybe just quicksettings 3.0 from PA. You do it.
Guess the OP wasn't expecting this.
But really, if you don't have the knowledge, learn. Making a ROM that does what you want is a matter of taking the PA ROM and removing and adding some files. There's no need to have a special machine or anything.
Oh, and no.

The thread would be closed if i was a moderator?
If i was a moderator I'd say something like:
Try all the roms there are in xda and use the one that fits your needs.

Lol, yes, I'd say something like that if i was a moderator, who is with me? Anybody?

Wondering if anyone could take the time to build a very basic rom that has app ops and supersu built in. just odexed to use with art as its not really worth having xposed since all i look for is app ops, supersu and maybe just quicksettings 3.0 from PA. I would love to do it myself, but dont have the machine, knowledge, nor time to do so.

try the stock rom. i heard its pretty good.
Cataclysm is pretty much it. It has quick panel settings, battery icon options otherwise pretty much stock rom apart from its smart radio but i just don't have it turned on (it isn't odexed tho, but you can't tell)

Really people?
You couldn't take 30 seconds to explain how much work goes into making a ROM
Or to explain how to flash and debloat a stock ROM?
Much more fun to embarrass a new member huh?
You were all new once
