Live Streaming? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note5

I was talking to a Samsung field ops manager at Best Buy a few weeks back and was told that live streaming would not be available on the Verizon variant. Anyone that has their phone in hand already that wants to verify that, I would appreciate it.

I literally just got my Note 5 in the mail an hour ago, and I just tested the live streaming. My initial answer is yes and no... I couldn't get it to actually show the stream live on my PC, but it's showing the videos after I'm done under the live area, so I have no idea, I'm probably just doing it wrong. I certainly wouldn't go by what some fool at Best Buy has to say about it... those people wouldn't know their ass from a USB cable.

I just tested mine out and I can confirm that it indeed does work!

How do you get to the live streaming portion of this

watch espn?

Does anyone have the app running? Can someone dl it and see if it will let you register? Mine is having problems.
i had the trial running for a day or 2. then it asked me to activate it. since im a comcast user, it wouldnt let me. i think if youre using verizon fios, or regular internet, you can activate it. i think i will borrow my buddy's log-in info for his fios to activate my watch-espn.
just a side note, there are way better sites for watching sports, now that we have flash player on the Tbolt.
Everything works fine for me, I have Verizon FiOS. Streams live, good sound, good quality.
Like what?

Mine works great. I have Oceanic/TimeWarner. Works good even over 3G. Don't have 4G in my area.

atdhe.fm - my favorite. lots of everything
stopstream.tv - this one plays more of the popular games
espn3.com - the espn official online site. works good, but not a great selection.
rojadirecta.es - this one is kinda tricky, cant scroll on the phone, but can tether and then watch it on the laptop.
there is a few more. i just cant remember right now. got to dig through my bookmarks
veetle.com is another one. they have a mobile version of the site as well.

Spotify?

Anybody using it?
And can you invite me in?

I just started using it (US). It seems pretty cool.
Android and iPhone apps are now up in the respective markets.
I used a proxy and signed up. But dont see the point, since the free account only lets you sync music from your PC. To listen to the streaming service, you need the 10 dollar per month package.

Well here in sweden i'm been using this service for over a year. And it is (by far)the best i've ever used. Sure they don't have every single artist, but there is so many I don't really feel the need for more.
I like it on my but $10 is a bit much for mobile streaming.

After all, $ 10 is too high a price. Available only 15 million songs. You can listen anywhere, anytime and can listen many different devices (mobile, pc etc.) I would rather buy the $ 10 album containing 12 tracks... No. no no .. I should have to think first what to say.
American network operators the pricing and quality is ****ed up. But many believe it is a lesser evil than $ 10 per month.
Spotify will not stay online
Anyone else having trouble on the Transformer? My dell streak will work ok, but the transformer keeps dumping to offline even though wifi is fine and all other apps are staying connected.

Known bug in Spotify on Honeycomb. Solution is easy but harsh: never make playlists offline available.
As long as you stream everything - you're okay. If you make a playlist offline available, it'll sync the first time and after that it'll keep saying it's disconnected.
And it's definitely worth the 10 bucks, I've been paying it for months and months (in Europe) and it saved me a ****load of money or time. If I had to buy all the music I've listened from Spotify, I'd had to sell my TF to pay the bills. Maybe even twice...
If your musictaste is pretty "conservative", not always looking for new stuff and getting addicted to it - it might indeed not be worth the money.
It's totaly worth it to have a paid subscription, i pay for premium
I use spotify all the time (at home, party's, cell phone etc)
The majority of the music i listen to is on spotify and i don't listen to comecial radio music

Deleting my offline content worked. How long has this been a known issue? I hope it is on a priority fix list.
I can have local content offline though without the bug happening.
Man, I totally want to try this. On Rdio right now. Can someone hit me up with an invitation?

The android client works like the PC client
I still can't get it work. Every time I choose a song, I get an info bar with no info and an OK box to click. It reads my TF on my network, but it won't stream any music. I had no online playlists (I deleted everything just to make sure).
It works well on my PC--a lot of great music that seems to stream more quickly than Google Music.

Great on the PC. I just walked down Memory Lane with everything by Kraftwerk. Life went by too fast--I used to be cutting edge! LOL

Strange thing happened today at Best Buy

Was in store looking at HDTV's.. had my sr in my pocket.. I walked in front of a Samsung Led Smart tv and " SGH-1777 detected on the screen..
Had to laugh a moment.. thought I would share..

That sounds awesome, except, shouldn't it have said i727?
How did it know? Did you have bluetooth on?
so it stopped playing a movie just to say i detect a phone?
or did it flash text across the screen saying it dected a phone?
either way that sounds more like a stupid TV why would u want your tv to announce all bluetooth ready devices that come near it.....lol
I need to try this out too..I'm going to Costco today and try it myself.
Well.. not JUST for that... I'm out of milk and eggs and napkins and beef and other various things..
Lol..... Well as you know all the tv's at Best Buy play that same loop .. I did not have bluetooth on.. It was weird I walked right in front of it.. I think it was a 46 or bigger Led.. a little box came up with 777..but it should have said i727
These "smart" Tv's are pretty smart.. they better be at these prices!
If its not Bluetooth (which was my first thought), NFC??? I know its not activated on our side, but it could be visible to other things. Perhaps thats why it popped up on the tv?
Other thought: Was someone else standing near-by with a SGSII in their pocket with Bluetooth on?
It probably was "dlna". I believe it works like a HDMI cable, without the cable.

Well, I walked around all the tvs holding my skyrocket out like an idiot, and of course, it didn't work. I DID see an ad on the demo for their big model advertising how you can use your smartphone as a remote. Do you have some sort of media sharing software on your phone? All I can think of is that somehow it picked up on that and recognized your phone. FYI I had bluetooth and WiFi on just to see.
Also I forgot to buy the 120 pack of gallon freezer bags.

DLNA requires you to be on the same subnet as other devices, so maybe he was on the store's open wifi.
Lol... I just remembered.. I was on Wifi in the store.. that might have been what happened I guess.. I swear it happened!!!
Interesting... I didn't know that we have DLNA support. Not that it matters for me, since my current tv predates flat screen CRTs even, let alone flat panel tvs! But very interesting nonetheless.

You can use DLNA in reverse, though. Say you have a home wifi enabled harddrive like the Seagate GoFlex. That can be the DLNA server and your Galaxy can be the display device. And, it's pretty easy to setup Windows 7 as a DLNA server per below.

Anyway, not meaning to derail, just sharing.

HBO GO app with time warner

Hey, I just came over from ATT to Verizon but I kept with the sgs3 however I'm trying to use my HBO go app to watch HBO and it won't let me choose time warner as a provided... it keeps giving me an error but I was just watching HBO go on my ATT sgs3 like 30 mins ago. I have uninstalled reinstalled rebooted...anyone have any ideas? Please, thank you.

I've never used HBO GO, but just installed and was able to choose Time Warner Cable as my provider. Switched to my actual provider and signed in without a hitch.
Sorry, I can't seem to replicate that issue here - but, it does actually seem to allow Time Warner logins on Verizon phones.
I did all this while connected to WiFi, if that makes a difference.

The app is not working too well with Verizon, it's kind of working today, but not the next day, very frustrating. We just have to wait until they fixed the stupid app.

Is this problem only happening on the Verizon network, then? Have you tried watching/registering over WiFi as a test?
I just checked and HBO GO has Settings -> Preferences with an option on how to connect for Video Playback, for example. The default for me said "Wi-Fi Only" and it went back to that setting even after I told it to also use the phone network last night. Hm . . .
EDIT: Just set the Video Playback value to also use the phone network (which they list as "3G", even though my connection is 4G) and it played back "X-Men: First Class" without a problem.

Okay, this is interesting. I would never think that carriers would have an impact on an app working on the same devices, but it seems to be the case. When I first got my device, stock unrooted, hbo go would not work, opening the app up it would say not compatible with device, but yet I was allowed to download from the play store!? You tell me?
Now running custom roms with all vzw crap frozen, it works just fine. And YES, Time Warner Cable is an option.
So it breaks my f***ing heart to yet again give a big old FU to Verizon and their borderline Apple antics. Wtf vzw, we pay you well to bend us over any time you can. And I said I'd never grow up to be a Whore, thanks Verizon....

That's really weird, as I was testing after seeing this thread and HBO GO installed from the Play store fine, configured with my (non-Time Warner provider) fine and streamed fine. I'm pure stock, having rooted and unrooted a few times for specific needs.
Maybe HBO GO has since been unblocked by Verizon since the OTA, assuming it was blocked before?
- ooofest
Strange thing is I got it working. All I did was make my friends vzw phone a not spot and then connected to it. The all then allowed me to login and now that I'm already logged in I can use the network to actually watch the shows now... did the same thing to get watchespn working...very strange.

Just worked it out today. And only found out when things from my pc started to pop up on my phone and note. Then sent back. If a dummy like me can do that anyone should be capable.
I got the dongle a couple of weeks ago. Most of the time it links up easy, sometimes it's a bear. You have to follow the instructions to the letter to get it to work. If it doesn't link up, unplug it from power and HDMI and let it sit a few minutes. Then try again following the instructions precisely.
It works pretty well when linked up. The video and audio are about 400 ms out of sync unless you use the stock video player. It must automatically correct for the lag. So yeah, Netflix and similar services play with the audio out of sync. Also, audio does not play unless it is part of a video stream. I had planned to use it to play music through my AV receiver, but no such luck. Too bad, it would be a killer app for that.

Mine works flawlessly after I used triangle away. Netflix is usually prefect with no lag. I use the modded version of hulu with no issues either after I turn my ad blocker off. I got my dongle from Samsung's web site.

Really. I wonder why mine isn't syncing? Maybe it's the actual content. Could you tell me what specific show you've played on Netflix that played in sync? Also, do you know what version of Netflix you have? What model Note you have and what Rom? I'm using an 8013 with the latest stock rom... One other thing, could you try playing "Rules Of Engagement" and seeing how that works? Maybe a link to modded Hulu?
Thanks!!! Maybe we can work out what's going on.
I watch dirty jobs and South park all the time, I haven't had time to get to rules of engagement though
it's worked on stock rooted 8013, and lately I've been on redemption by pimpmaneaton
Yep, I'm using one at home and one at work... bought 1/2 price with the coupon.
