Unable to upgrade YouTube / Google TV on JVC Smart TV - General Questions and Answers

Hi All, really new to this, not even sure if this is the right place to ask the question...
I have an issue with a JVC smart TV, android 4.4 and the YouTube app that's on there. Apparently YouTube won't be supporting TV apps and I have to upgrade this app via GoogleTV as per this link... [Edit: not allowed to post links?]
But there is an issue. When I upgrade via the app store, I get an issue saying something like "Packet Data Unpack Error, please uninstall the previous version and install this app again". However, since youtube was on the device when I bought it, I can't uninstall this app. Apparently I don't have the right permissions.
Any suggestions?

Yes, I can. But the factory reset will only get back to the unsupported version of YouTube, so I'm back where I started.

I have 1st generation Sony Google TV and I have the same issue. Youtube doesnt work anymore, and using Chrome is like hitting your head with an hammer, it crashes 15 times in 15 minutes. I was hoping XDA has some sharp minds who could help us out.
Thank you

JVC LT-32N750, Android 4.4.2
I have the same problem, most apps does not work.
Sent JVC a mail asking for firmware update and they responded that there wont be any updates.
sigh

I have the same JVC model, and my Play Store app doesn't work. Were you able to get it working in any way?

[Resolved] [Q] Unable to sign into YouTube App - An error has occurred - anyone know how to fix?

Hi,
Wondering if someone could help. I downloaded
While its a brilliant ROM for my Desire S, the dev for reasons unknown has not used apps signed from Play Store, therefore some apps like YouTube refused to update.
Using Titanium backup, I remove YouTube, rebooted the phone, reinstalled it via Play Store, and while its now linked correctly and up-to-date, it refuses to sign my Google account in.
I'm getting an error message stating "an error has occurred" when the app is first loaded, when attempting to click the sign in options and when any video is played.
The videos will play but I can sign into YouTube with my own account to see my history, uploads, channels, etc...
I tried clearing YouTube app data and cache, reinstall but same issue.
Would be a pain to have to wipe and start again considering this is the only app doing this.

Here is the solution that worked for me. If you go into the 'app info' for YouTube, you can uninstall the current update. This seemed to be the problem, afterwards I was able to log in via google. A full reinstalling does not work because that still uses the current update. You must only get rid of the latest update App Version 4.2.16. After doing so, I am using App version 4.1.23 and everything is flawless.
Click and hold on YouTube-->drag to app info-->uninstall updates-->okay --> it works.

Unable to Gamestream?

So I bought this device secondhand from some guy on craigslist. I did a factory reset and first thing i tried was to use gamestream. However, after installing my drivers on my PC, my shield is now saying "Update system software to stream games from myPCname." Upon clicking that, it seems that this is already the latest version.
From my assumption, the previous user rooted and did not unroot causing this to happen. Can someone confirm this or lead me in the right direction?
I had the same problem after rooting it, you have to go to the play store and search for Tegrazone (hub orsomething) and press Update
For some reason the play store does not update it automatically

Cool, let me know if that worked. would help others well
Had the same issue just now. Download Shield Hub from play store. Replaces the Tegrazone. I was just getting unable to connect errors before.
Shame the tegra button cant be reassigned to the new app though
Yup, updating the app was the problem. Thanks!

HBO GO on Nexus Player (APK) & Testing.

Hi Guys,
Recently HBO GO was released for Fire TV (Source:http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=176060&p=RssLanding&cat=news&id=1999513), this version should have support for various remotes and thus if anyone could pull the APK I would very grateful along with many other HBO Watchers. You probably have to be rooted to obtain the APK so keep this in mind.
EDIT: APK has been pulled - download here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57527277&postcount=3
Thanks Guys,
Keep up the Good Stuff
CURRENT STATUS: APP Installs - Navigation works - Video fails to Load or Loads Endlessly

I managed to get a few videos started but yer now it seems they all cut off straight away - Do you reckon its to do with device activation?
- Also it is so laggy and slow is this the same on Fire TV? (Like in the UI - maybe missing some of the required libs to run properly)
EDIT: It always plays the intro "It's HBO GO" with Rating, however never successfully retrieves content I guess there is some sort of device handshake if not maybe the app checks the build of the device to see if it matchs or maybe some framework is missing; In any case now we have the app, we can experiment to find a solution.
How did you add it to your library? It won't let me
I managed to get it to work using the HBO Go 2.8.02 APK extracted from my Nexus 7. I disabled USB Debugging on my rooted NP running LP 5.1 and videos play just fine. Only during fast forwarding and rewinding do I get a little buffering, that's expected.
I'm using 2.7.06 and it works great. Just download and old version and 6iu should be good.
Can you please upload the apk??

I've got it fixed by visiting the Google Play Store (on the Sony Android TV), searching for 'Google Cast Receiver' and updating it. Connects just fine now.
Worked at first try on my LG WebOS 1.x TV. Also no issues with a Chromecast 2.

Thanks for the heads up on this apps.. It's working perfectly. However the one I downloaded don't need to pay but has ads, I would rather pay to get rid of the ads.

Yeah, sorry, i wasn't detailed enough the App is free, supported with Ads, but beneath the Options, you can choose to remove the ads and this will cost a little... But using an app everyday it's worth paying

There are a lot of apps for this. What I want is to mirror the phone screen on tv using MirrorShare option from taskbar.
I already have Google Cast Receiver app up to date, but no success. I think is something wrong with my Wi-Fi router. I have an Asus AC68U. Do I have to make any specials settings in router for screen mirroring ?

Make sure UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is enabled/allowed.
Regarding the TV do note that my unit was showing zero system updates available. It was only when I manually searched for 'Google Cast Receiver' that I found an updated version ready for download.

Just to let you know guys
I successfully mirror share my phone screen on tv screen by installing Google Home application on the phone.
Thanks dancrow! I just downloaded Google Home and it worked instantly, so easy!!
Huawei Mate 10 Pro to Sony Bravia, no problem. :good:
