Hi, I didn't see a section specifically for active users. I hope I didn't overlook it.
I recently sent my phone off to the Samsung repair center in Plano, Texas. I cracked the glass around the camera and wanted to get it replaced. Well, when they sent me my phone back, it's stuck in some kind of factory binary mode. It says factory binary when booting up. IDK what that means, but it looks like some kind of testing mode. You can test all kinds of features, sounds etc. I sat on the phone with Samsung for an hour, and they couldn't figure it out. I pretty much can't use the phone in this mode, only testing. I can access my settings. I tried factory resetting about five times already. Nothing is working. I really don't want to have to send it off to them again.
Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me.
i have to break this URL up, because i dont have permission to post links yet....

Best option is to bring your S6 Active back to Samsung for back job repair.

Ok, I know lots of people brick their phones, and like in my case hard-bricked as well. But everycase is unique but I'd really appreciate if you guys could look over what I did and see if my plan of action is the right thing to do.
So, basically I came across ICS on youtube by chance and it looked to be really cool for my S2. I have no experience with romming and such and I'd only ever heard of it. Then after about only 3 hours of research I set to work to romming it. The instructions said I had to get a clockwork mod to flash the drive to get ICS. I think I messed this up as I'm not entirely sure I unzipped the folder properly to get the .tar. on pda.
So, my phone would turn on but only get to the samsung logo with the warning sign. By this time I was fed up and worried and such and decided it was too much effort and just wanted my phone back. So I set out to put the original firmware back on. I downloaded the stuff and put the in their respective slots, pit,pda and mobile I think. I pushed start and it was if odin had frozen (no progress bar either), I couldn't click anything and the log script in the corner showed nothing.
I was quite annoyed and closed odin and unplugged my phone, put it back in download and such to try again. This time the same thing happened and I unplugged the phone first, Big mistake! My phone went completely black and effectively hard bricked.
Okay that's what happened. I just want advice to see if what I'm going to do is right.
1- Imma try to go through the simple workarounds to try to get my phone back into download mode.
2- This will probably fail, so I will purchase a USB jig from amazon, this will give me 3 potential results
one. My phone will get back into download mode and there will be no warning sign under the samsung logo and custom counter at 0.
two. My phone will get back into download mode but there is still the warning sign and the custom counter is at 0
three. Nothing will happen or my counter will be at one
3- okay so if scenario one happens I will send my phone to samsung and they should repair as they have already told me through e-mail they believe it to be a motherboard problem
scenario two, I will send my phone to vodafone,as I've learnt from the forums their techies should not care as much about that kind of thing.
scenario three, I will send my phone to mobile tech videos in Texas from the UK as everyone seems to trust them and they look pretty legit.
Okay, so that's basically my plan of action. All I want is for you guys is to just go "yeah, good idea thats probably right" or show me what I've misjudged or if you are aware of another option for me.
Thanks,
Adam
Bump, please I know some of you guys can help me out
Yesterday my Verizon Galaxy S6 was lagging so I tried restarting it...
When it tried to boot the Android screen loaded as usual, but thats it. It never made it to the Verizon screen and the screen stayed black with the blue light on at the top right of the device. No matter what I tried (safe mode, cache wipe, factory reset..) the device wouldn't come back. I'm able to access the menus via [pwr + home + volume] but after resetting or rebooting the device goes back to android screen then black with blue light.
I stopped by BestBuy today and spoke to the Samsung rep who said it just needed a hard reset with a binary code update... I thought he was going to do the same factory reset method I used but instead he loaded a backup os off his laptop. This didnt work either and the device is still stuck unable to boot except now the android screen says custom with a unlocked padlock icon. The Samsung rep said he's never seen a device do this and advised me to either call 1800SAMSUNG or travel 2 hours to Atlanta to the Samsung service center.
I can't seem to find anything online that's similar to this problem and I'd rather not send my device off for repair or travel.
Even more so I'm worried the Samsung rep made the problem look like a root attempt gone bad.
Can anyone recommended any troubleshooting tips or steps to get my device back? It's a 64Gb Verizon S6 with the most recent android update and its never been rooted... Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!!

Check if Knox is tripped, if not you will still get a repair without problems.
Else go to sammobile and download newest firmware for your model and flash it via Odin.
Doesn't have time to write a step for step guide now, but will do so when I come home in a few hours if you still need help and no one else have helped you in the meantime.
I reluctantly called Verizon and to my amazement after a 20 minute conversation they agreed to ship me a new OEM replacement S6. Typically the Verizon support is a nightmare ... I'm so happy! Thanks again for your help.
Hey guys. My wife's s6 just did something really weird and I have no idea how to fix it. Her screen seems to be glitched or messed up. I don't know how to describe it. When ever I turn the phone on the screen turns on for 2 secs but all the words and images are all over the screen and then the scree shuts off but the applications are still usable. I tried doing a restart but didn't work and I then tried upgrading it but also didn't work. I tried to kinda mess with the brightness but still nothing. We just got this phone like 3 weeks ago and it was working fine up to 20 mins ago. She hasn't dropped it or done any water damage. Can anyone please help me to see what is going on with this phone.
I cant provide photos because i am new user. If anyone know how i can get around this without posting 10 times let me know so i can show you the screen of my wifes phone. I posted a similar help post on android central with pictures if you need to see the screen.
You can try a full reset 1st. If it still persists then its most likely a factory defect. Return your S6 back to Samsung for warranty replacement.

Hi, Please try the following,
1. Open the dialer and hit *#0*#
2. There will be different color options like red/green/blue. select each one by one and check whether the issue comes up somehow.
3. Then try using the phone in safe mode/factory reset.
If the issue still persists, then it is likely to be a hardware issue and please get it checked with samsung as soon as possible. :good:
Hi guys, I'm sincerely apologizing if this is the wrong place to open a thread about something like that, I couldn't figure out where else to write down my issue. I've been told here are people that know the most about devices and that someone might be able to solve an issue I got with my Samsung s6 Edge. The samsung support has been not helpful at all and it's either sending it to them to repair it and loose all my files or at least before doing that at least trying to save some of my personal files. The problem yet is that I can't even get into my phone. I was charging it at night and suddenly I saw a flashing Samsung Logo on screen with a blue LED that flashes as well. So the device had to be turned itself off and then it was restarting but it couldn't get pass the 2nd SAMSUNG loading Screen and got stuck. That's all. From then on I wasn't able to do anything with it. First I thought it may be making some updates, but then again I turned off my wifi before going to sleep. So that can't be the case. I waited hours, because I was hoping it might get pass it at some point but it didn't. While waiting I looked up tutorial to fix it but nothing seemed to work out and then I called the samsung support which basically just told me to turn it on and off without any real solving advice. So here I am. desperate to just save up the last photos and that's it. Does anyone know a solution that won't mess with my guarantee.
Again, I'm really sorry if this isn't the right place to ask.
Thanks for reading if you made it up to here,
Erika

You may get more help by getting the thread moved to Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting.
To do so, simply click the "report button" and select "thread/post moving".
Now, on with the issue. What you're having seems to be a bootloop.
One thing you could try is booting into recovery and wiping the cache.
I'm not exactly sure how booting to recovery works on the S6, but it generally is: turn the phone off, then hold the power button + volume up button until the phone vibrates. If that doesn't work, try adding the home button to that combo, or just Google how to boot into recovery.
Anyway, if that doesn't work, then I'm afraid there won't be any other solution than reinstalling the firmware yourself or sending it to warranty (where they will probably reinstall the firmware).
Your photos shouldn't be affected in the process, as they are saved on the internal memory and, unless somebody wipes it, you shouldn't lose your files.
But you will definitely lose your apps and app data in the process.
Flashing the firmware yourself should not void the warranty.
The process can be done with Odin (a software also used by Samsung). I'm not sure how familiar you are with flashing, but you may want to do some reading or watch video guides on the subject of using Odin. Since the S6 is pretty much a new device, I'm sure you will find lots of video tutorials for the S6 specifically.
And, as I said, your internal storage stuff should be safe too.
Hi I have just bought an s7 which turned out to be a Korean G930L but I cant get any response out if it apart from the 2 bottom leds and and the blue one. No response from trying to get into recovery or download mode, basically a black screen though it does vibrate on what i think is start up. It is found by pc and Odin and charges ok, I can tell as I can see properties on pc. But no other response. Is it possible that the previous owner tried to root it using non korean rom or TWRP? Any advice on how to fix either getting TWRP on or screen to light up. I am sorry for being so vague I have pulled it apart and checked all of the connections, screen, motherboard etc but nothing. Odin sees the phone but I am not sure if I am in Download mode so wont flash, as cant see screen.
Or chuck it out or put back on eBay.

Your phone's display screen has a problem , sadly you have to replace the display screen. Go to the nearest samsung service center.
Thanks it isnt worth it I will just sell it on ebay. I have been able to get to some of the screens [though still black] as it talks to me in Korean and the screen is giving haptic feedback so aspects of it are alive still. I am wondering now if someone has tried to ROOT it and semi bricked it or turned off the display internally. The other night night no matter what I pushed it vibrated and answered me with the same korean statement. I am trying to get into Recovery Mode without a screen and flash it without a screen but proving frustrating, maybe samsung dealer can reflash it with needing a screen.

It's not a software issue, there must be water damage or display is broken/went off for some other reason.
I had this same issue with my note 5, I was able to hear everything, touch key and notification lights were on too, that time my note 5 was accidentally dropped by me. So 99% your display is broken. Simply go to service center and get a quote, but display will cost same as used s7. Try to get after market screen.
ok thanks for the advice, i will head to them after the xmas break
