Miui to s6 with touchwiz - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys is it possible to devs porting miui rom with touchwiz i think you guys understand.
Sent from my SM-G920F using XDA Free mobile app

What? Miui is based on cyanogen mod. So there is no cm with touchwiz. First let the devs create a functional cm build. This might take a while.

What?! AFAIK Official MIUIs are based on stock firmwares, CM based MIUIs come only when the stock firmware is an outdated version of Android.
Moto X '14 via Tapatalk.

No always been based on cm. Please
Correct me someone if I'm wrong but you can't base on the stock firmware since there is no source. And cm has.

The kernel. The HALs which are needed for a build of Vanilla remain a closed mystery.

I think it does for the kernel source
Thanks for the answers

The kernel source has to be released because of the GPL but everything else is closed source. That's why it is so hard to built cm for exynos chips.

Just curious as to why it was easier to build for the snapdragon of that source should ve closed as well.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920AZ

I'm not sure what of the source is published but the fact that the exynos is proprietary of samsung and the snapdragon open source makes it way easier to built for a device with a snapdragon than for a device with a exynos.

It's great news if you have an SGSII, which they released the ICS kernel source to.

Also consider that the International sgs2 uses the Exynos421x processor, where as the sgs4g uses the intrepid-hummingbird S5PC110 processor. Totally different.
7TimesCursed just gave me a tip that will help me move forward with CM7. (something I was hung up on)
CM9 is also still under development. A port would mean a buggy phone.
An ICS port would indeed be better.
After CM7 port is done, I still have plans to rebase our phone specific kernel stuff to the samsung aosp kernel. That my help us port to the 3.0.1 kernel that ICS uses. This is still a ways off, and hopefully by then CM9 will stabilize.
To the future!

i727 ICS source now available

After lurking on Samsung open source for some odd weeks it looks as if the ICS source is available for the at&t galaxy s2 skyrocket.
go here and look for SGH-I727_NA_IC_Opensource.zip. As that is the source.
Bingo, ICS Platform and Kernel source.
We can finally get a tweaked out/more stable build :good:

touchwiz or aosp roms will benefit from this. This is the floodgates to lots of **** coming now. Most importantly though, I would expect us to go RC on CM9 very soon now.
Clarification
Well, reading the posts it seems there is general lack of understanding of the Android Kernel source tree. First of all if you look at all the Celox source tree released by Samsung (Kernel) there are all based of AOSP 3.0.8. This is little bit too late . Samsung already had the Celox sources released with SHV-E110S and T-989 last month. All the proper drivers for the SGH-I727 bit are already there in that kernel source.
I doubt, I will find any difference if at all there is any in this new source. (BTW, if people who have not developed kernels Sammy sources that they release are as ****ty as it gets, they NEVER release the manufacturing source, tell me I had to fix a crap load of stuff).
As far as Cymbaline, the source is now so far merged with upstream kernel sources (which is what one does, anyways) that it would be pointless for me to even consider starting with these source. And all those useless govs, bln, oc/uc tweaks are already there in my source tree ..And anyone who is making to attempt those will need to do it exactly the same places ....

On official I doubt its got that bug its likely that if its not an issue in ics official rom then its not an issue in ics based recoveries built using official source as they use the same kernel just saying

[NEWS] Jelly Bean News/Rumors

Warning ! Do not insult/flame any member!!
This thread has been created for people to share news regarding the release of android 4.1 or even 4.2 for our device, whether or not the news is true or false!
The only news we have now is that JB may release on 22/4 or even by the end of this month.
Since the other thread is closed I post here, source code for European i8160 available:

Can anyone guide me to a tutorial or any helping information for building AOSP for 8160?
I have found links for Nexus devices and don't know what to modify for our 8160.
Trying to learn how to do that but so far i managed to compile something for nexus (don't know if it's only kernel or complete rom).
So please, if anyone can help with some useful links i would appreciate it.
Thanks.
P.S. If i manage to build a working ROM i will gladly share it.

Call Maclaw, he is a doctor of ACE, with his track record he able to build Final ICS AOSP and CM 9, and now he builds JB AOSP for S3 Mini.....
did you know? S3 Mini and Ace 2 generally not much different.

I thought that you already asked Maclaw?

and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39585258&postcount=1778
Maclaw selected SIII Mini, not ACE II for next project as you can read on his blog. Also saying that "S3 Mini and Ace 2 generally not much different" is like saying that SIII and Galaxy Note 10.1 are not much different. They have the same SOC and thats all.
Yet different enough. Even if they look similar, there are other differences that don't make porting such and easy task.
Still, publishing the sources for this handset is a great step forward. I, for one, cannot wait to flash a custom rom.

They don't have stable CM, only in alpha stabe, much things aren't working..
hello, isn't it better to leave building sources to one person and the other just submit patch
i dont see a good reason for many person building a Source..

Custom ROM & Kernel for One SV on Android 4.2.2 ?

android 4.2.2 with sense 5 has been officially released but still not have any custom ROM/Kernel from our developers
sometimes, i wish there's a custom kernel enable s2w :silly:
do you think that?
when are you releasing?

What do you want, without kernel source?
And related to custom roms: Aren't there really cool mods already?
As 4.1.2 was out, first the mods where made, then, when enough mods are ready, the custom roms came.
Before the beginning of February we should not expect the appearance of the kernel source code for our model.

No way, no dev's.
You would either have to build from scratch or port it to our device. Cyanogenmod has some tutorials on how to port their materials. Neither is easy lol.

I - one of the developers of this kernel. The site htcdev.com not currently contains the kernel source version 4.2.2 for our phone. Presumably these source code will be available in late January. So - is not yet any developments from me and the people with whom I work.

AOSP on S7 and other Exynos Devices

Hi XDA Community,
Why developers could not use the source code from a TouchWiz Kernel for an AOSP ROM. Touchwiz is based on aosp or I'm wrong?
Touchwiz is built on AOSP correct but Samsung have made loads of changes (annoyingly but makes touchwiz better) and Samsung do give us developers source with thier OSRC website but the source they give is not enough to get a fully functional build of say CM or any other of your favourite Roms

Thanks for the Information :good:
May I ask what kind of libs or drivers are not in the publicly available source code? Because I thought that it would be possible to 'just' pull the libs and stuff from current Kernel or within /system/lib/
Now I am not a pro if talking about reverse engineering or whatever, but isn't it possible to extract necessary source from device or maybe fully decompile the Stock Rom? If all I said is the biggest bullcrap ever please tell me.
