[Q] Firmware Upgrade Encountered an Issue... - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys, first of all, i have started a thread this week, but as the error changed, i decided to create this one. My GT-8000 doesn't start anymore, it gets a Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again message, but i'm unable to do that (Kies doesn't recognize my GT).
As i was reading, i downloaded a stock kit kat firmware (.tar files) to try and force via Odin the install, but i keep getting this everytime:
<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/003> FAIL!
What should i do? I really need my tablet... please, someone help me.
Thanks in advance...

Since it's been two days i've been learning to fix this, i'm advancing. I can access the recovery now (already flashed cwork), but the tablet seens to stand still in the 'Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1' logo. I have a feeling i'm getting closer to fix it, but can't seen to find a way to go further now.
Can i download a custom rom, for example, and try to flash via Odin? Because i can't put it on the sd card (can't access).

{Q} Phone stuck on "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue"

so im not a dummy when it comes to android and odin.
i was attempting to put the phone back to stock after i misplaced it and found it again, it had been a good amount of time and i dont remember the gmail nor the passcode i used.
i followed the steps here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427268&highlight=odin+back+to+stock
and here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
confirmed all the files downloaded, and unziped/installed them all.
when i would put my phone in to download mode, it worked fine with the android dude and the "download..." sign.
but when i ran odin after i put the .tar file in the PDA slot, it failed.
now when i try to get into download mode again, i get the picture i attached.
if i try and turn on my phone regularly , i get the same picture.
odin keeps failing (ive tried about 23498 times)
im stuck in a dead end, and i just wanna find my way home.
any suggestions?
Use different comp. or try redownloading the files. use different usb cord and/or port
Follow the Odin back to stock. I've had that happen to me too. Its stickied in develpment thread. Then start from their.

Just pretend that the "Firmware Encountered an Issue" screen is download mode. For all intents and purposes it is.
You can flash the Odin tar over that screen and it will work (provided that you use a good usb port and follow instructions...)
Same issue... Please help!
I have the same screen and cannot access anything on my phone except I can power on and off. I was upgrading to a updated firmware through kies, now when I go torecovery mode in kies there is nothing to select. I am hoping someone has found a solution and will share that with me, AT&T had no clue. Thank you!

go through the odin troubleshooting steps in the second link in my sig first
1. which odin are u using, should be 1.85, redownload again
2. redownload the firmware tar again and flash again, if both of these steps fail then
3. flash a custom recovery w/odin(follow instructions on 3rd link in my sig) then flash a cwm flashable stock firmware, link are in the dl section in the first and second link in my sig
if all that fails then it sounds like you have a corrupted efs, emmc or nand partition the same as this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751338
possible fix Using loop devices to workaround corrupt eMMC partitions or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611796
if still under warranty get it fixed

seems like the old stuff people find are fracking up the efs, emmc or nand partition, or newbs are doing something wrong
thanks!

GT-N8000 Firmware upgrade issue

Hi. Recently I bought a second-hand Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000. After receiving it I discovered it was rooted. I wasn't too happy having an already rooted device, being completely new to rooting. I thought that if I'd have a rooted device, I'd root it myself and make sure I knew exactly what was going on with it. So I tried unrooting it by installing the stock firmware using Odin. However, I forgot to enable USB debugging. Now the tablet is stuck on a screen which says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
The issue is that Kies doesn't detect my device when trying the emergency firmware recovery mode. Every time I use Odin it simply fails. The device can still go into download mode, but not recovery mode. So the only thing I can think of doing now is the trick of removing the battery to then forcing it to start in recovery mode after reinserting the battery. However I don't have the tools to do this. The only alternate way I can think of is to wait a few days for the tablet to die, then making sure I've got the buttons held down to make it start in recovery mode before I plug in the charger.
Are there any other solutions you guys can think of?
I would use ODIN to flash a custom recovery, then use that recovery to flash a stock, rooted ROM.

something doesnt sound right....u should b able to installa stock firmware if u can access the download mode.....my bet is u do not have the correct drivers installed or ur using the wrong firmware file......
The battery thing didn't work.
Also flashing doesn't seem to be a possibility. Every time I use Odin, no matter what I'm flashing, even if I've successfully flashed it before, it always fails. Does this eliminate the possibility of some sort of samsung store repairing it?
As long as they can't get to the download mode screen where it shows if the system has been altered, they can't tell if you have voided your warranty...

I have this same problem ... My GT-N8000 only showing screen saying "Firmware upgrade encounter an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try again"(Kies cannot detect my tabley anymore). I cannot access recovery mode, only Odin downloading mode. After searching and reading on how to re-flash stock firmware, I decided to try it by my self. I re-flash KIES_HOME_N8000DXUCMB1_N8000OLBCMB1_795498_REV00_u ser_low_ship.tar.md5 that I got from sammobile, using Odin3 v1.85 (I only ticked Autoreboot). Here is what I got ...

Originaly, my gt-n8000 suddenly hanged by it self, it got stuck in the 'samsung galaxy note 10.1' logo, no recovery mode, only odin mode, kies can't also detect my tablet. Someone told me that probably it is because of the auto update, there might be an interruption. So i decided to try reflashing stock firmware hoping it will be fix. But after several fail to reflash, the screen got change change from 'samsung galaxy note 10.1' to 'Firmware upgrade encounter an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try again'(this time odin could detect my tablet without going to odin mode) ... and then finally I was able to successfully flash a stock, but nothing change on the condition of my gt-n8000, still got stuck with 'Firmware upgrade encounter an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try again' screen, no recovery, only odin mode, still kies cannot detect it.
please i need help.....after upgrading my custom recovery using odin.......thats the cwm....the phone rebooted but when i tried going into recovery mode still is not changed still showing the old android recovery system thing.....the custom recovery is not updated tried flashing it several times with odin but still no upgrade, and my note gt n8000 is rooted...please whats wrong i need it to be upgraded, how do i go about it
Suggest wrong file flashed.

[Q] After Factory Reset, Keyboard Missing & Playstore amongst others not Working

Hi!
Here Is a problem of epic proportions!
Model: GT-P3100 (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 wifi+3G)
Kernel No.: 3.0.31-13044325
Android Version: 4.1.2
My Tab used to switch off automatically since the last 2 weeks. Yesterday the Tab started updating its OS automatically. During the update, the tab switched off and the update failed. The Tab restarted however and continued the update process.
The update completed, the tab switched on and then a message popped up that update failed. Since then, Google Play Store, Messaging, Bluetooth, Connecting to PC via wire doesn’t work. Keyboard and calculator is missing. Apps wont install or update due to error -110.
The keyboard is no longer there. After lot of research and trying various solutions all over the internet, nothing worked and I reset the tab. Problems only escalated.
Now I have a tab that is not connected to any google account, since I cannot type. Side loading keyboard or any other apps don’t work since google play store fails. Non-play store apps don’t load too for the same reason. And I cannot log in to google play store since neither keyboard nor voice to text works!
Note, the tab is already reset, so cache is all cleared and all system apps are enabled.
Any solutions please!? Anybody up for this challenge?

Tired that already. Device drivers updated. Extra cables used. Same result.
Today I spoke with technicians at the local Samsung repair center. They said not to even think of flashing with ODIN given the current status of the tab. It will turn the tab into paperweight. It seems they have other solutions. I will be sending it to them. Hopefully it will be resolved.

Yeah maybe it is a hardware problem and eventually related to motherboard
So lets see what happens
Alright. So i gave my tab to the local Samsung service center. They asked me to sign a waiver since they too were unsure if the tab could be revived. It took them a short while and they were able to Re-install (?) the stock OS that came with the tab when purchased. I think they just uninstalled the updates. This was the early ice cream sandwich where the screenshot shortcut was readily available in the bottom left corner and the notification panel on the bottom right.
So after travelling for 25 km, spending 25 minutes and 25 dollars....the problem was solved and now I have my all time fav ICS version to go with it. Not updating ever again!

[Q] GALAXY TAB2 GT-P3100 Stuck on "Firware Upgrade encountered an Issue....."

[Q] GALAXY TAB2 GT-P3100 Stuck on "Firware Upgrade encountered an Issue....."
My device, Galaxy Tab2 GT-P3100, running on official samsung updates, never rooted, never flashed or done any other software tweeks.
Running normally on JB, found it switched off after i left it on for few hours(around 4 to 5 hrs),
l tried to switch it on but it ws unrespnsive, charged it for few hrs(thought battery drained out) and tried again,
then it powered on but was stuck on "samsung logo screen " and wasnt going further.
Nextday, without trying anything on my own took it to a samsung service center, for fixing the error.
I was told by service center guy that the OS got corrupted need to reinstall, it started fine but after a while it failed. (he was doing it on ODIN )
Now the present status is the tab is stuck on a screen saying
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Keis & Try again"
samsung guy told its failing repeatedly and seems like my device mother board is gone..
What i have done after this:
From my past experinece of rooting an old android device and after reading some forums on internet i got hold of the following things
1.Odin 3 V3.07
2.stock firmware for GT-P3100 for India from sam mobiles:
P3100DDCNA3_P3100ODDCNB1_P3100DDCLK1_HOME.tar.md5
3. installed kies latest version so that my tab drivers would be ready for windows
4. ran the following steps on ODIN
plugged the tab in
selected the firmware file on PDA option
checked only Autoreboot and F.reset Time were selected and nothing else
then pressed start
and Odin failed once but after another try ran for a while and it finally showed "PASS"
but after reboot my device is still stuck on the
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Keis & Try again"
sorry for the long text, tried my best to keep it short
i am hoping someone could help me fix my device,
please correct me if i am doing it wrong and guide me through the right procedure
thanks in advance
Any Update on this issue
I had the CyanogenMod cm12.1 Dec build Rom with TWRP_2.8.7.2 recovery installed on p3100 and working fine.
But suddenly i faced the below issue today.
I have also faced this issue of "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." But i am not able to go to either donwload mode or recovery mode.
I tried using different versions of Odins with flashing options default(checked only Autoreboot and F.reset Time were selected and nothing else) :
The follwing files i flashed .
1.) P3100DDCNA3_P3100ODDCNB1_P3100DDCLK1_HOME.tar.md5
2.)GT-P3100_CWM_6.0.5.1.tar.md5
3.) GT-P3100_TWRP_2.8.7.2.tar.md5
4.)CF-Auto-Root-espressorf-espressorfxx-gtp3100.tar.md5
but i gets failed at NAND write Start !! i have tried multiple times (win 7 , win 10,with/without kies )but did not have any success.
Any way to solve this issue.

[Completed] need help unrooting Samsung Galaxy S5 Straight Talk Variant

Custom Recovery: TWRP
I have been battling with this phone for WEEKS. This is the first phone I rooted, but for the life of me I can't undo it. I had installed Exposed at some point but I can't really remember why. I'm trying to flash the original stock rom on here to completely remove root access as everything else has failed me, but I can't even do that! I did the 'full unroot" option that was in SuperUser, and that's gone, all of the other root access apps have been removed, however I'd like to get the stock ROM, and recovery back on here.....
I have tried to load it via fastboot, but can't find a fastboot compatible driver for this phone and Windows 10 64bit, those I have tried windows states is incompatible with it.
I have tried using different types of ODIN to install the flash rom, (that I downloaded from sammobile.com) and every time they fail with:
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/005> Initialzation..
<ID:0/005> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/005> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/005> aboot.mbn
<ID:0/005> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/005>
<ID:0/005> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
and on my phone it says:
SW REV CHECK FAIL:[aboot]Fused 3 < Binary 2
and the download stops.
I'm at my wits end here. I have tried so many different ways to get this to work, including doing a factory reset before the flash, removing the sd card, uninstalling and reinstalling the phones usb drivers, leaving "Auto Reboot" checked, then trying unchecked, Tried with Odin3 v1.85, Odin3.9 (I believe... about 3 weeks ago), and Odin3_v3.10.6. I can't find anything online about this model, aside from the zipped file of the original stock rom from samsung.
I have tried Kies, but it refuses to take the S/N for the phone, when I checked on the back of it, the S/N isn't listed, just an IMEI number (which I tried with no luck). Looking on the phone for the S/N just displays 00000000000, as well as when using a S/N finding application. Same issue with Smart Switch, can't verify S/N.
On top of that, the phone can't seem to decide what model it is. There is a sticker on the back casing that says SM-G900P(B), then on the one behind the battery it has an FCCID ends with G900V, but the model # just above that says SM-S902L that is displayed in the device settings. I've found that all of these can be used to determine the type of ROM that can be flashed, however mine are all different...
please someone more knowledgeable in this help me put this factory rom on my phone...
