Is there a way to output HDMI to my phone, or to stream from a TV to my phone? - General Questions and Answers

Hey everyone. I see tons of options for streaming the display from my phone to my tv, but what about the other way around?
In my situation, I am trying to get remote play working for my PS4 to my android phone, but am encountering issues getting a Dualshock 4 controller to work properly with my phone.
If I can't get this resolved, another option would be to get a playstation TV and attach it to my bedroom tv, but it's tiny, and also about 20 feet away from the bed. Not a great option for playing games. However, if I could use the PSTV and output to my phone, that would be awesome.
Is there something that either can clone the display/sound output of a TV, or even better, something that would allow my phone to directly act as a receiver of an HDMI signal from the PSTV?
Trying to google for options leaves me empty handed because most people are concerned with outputting their phone's display to their television, and I want to go in the opposite direction.

I have the very same question
I'm curious as to why I wouldn't 've able to directly stream what is on my tv to my phone. The PS3 has a controller that works through walls from 20+ ft away, all I want to do is be able to watch through my phone when I'm outside/ in another room.
I find it mind blowing that there isn't a single answer on Google after searching for hours.

DLNA

I played with DLNA last night and for the most part it worked, but not with the Xbox. Has anyone else tired? Post your results here.
Worked well over wifi. Its not something i would use often tho, usually streaming it from my comp allows for better control and flexibility. I could see some situations where if you went to a friends house and they had some enabled tv's or etc you could pop in some movies off ur phone.
Really its the only way to HD content from it to a TV as the TV out is composite. Sucks it doesn't have HDMI out.

[Q] Are there any remote controls for an android phone?

Hi guys-
I currently use my ipod as my primary mp3 player, and I have it connected to my home stereo. I LOVE having it on the dock, and I can use the remote control to change songs from in the kitchen while I'm doing stuff. I would like to switch out to using my phone, but I don't want to lose the ability to use the remote. It is a pain in the ass to run back into the living room every time I want to skip a song. I'm getting a new phone soon, so I was wondering if there are any android phones that you can use with a remote control? I REALLY don't want an iphone, but I'm considering it because I can use my ipod dock. Also, when I google remote for android phone, I only get results for apps that let you use your android phone as a remote control, which is not what I want. The few that I have seen also have headphones and built in mic. Seems like they are more designed for hands free phone operation while in the car. Not exactly what I'm looking for...
Thanks!
Edit: I Finally found this: http://www.examiner.com/technology-...emote-control-for-android-powered-smartphones
The list of compatible phones is quite short, though.
Has anyone tried it? Or has anyone used a different remote that you would recommend?

Does anyone know of an i/r remote that can control our android phones?
my daughters ipod charging dock came with an i/r remote that allows her to change songs from a distance with the remote. if only the dock would charge her ipod instead of giving a "this device is not a supported accessory" error... i hate apple!
i have a whole house audio system with keypads in all of the bedrooms that can transmit i/r commands back to a device to change channels/songs/etc. i have it setup to change songs on the ipod from anywere in the house which is fantastic, but the ipod won't charge on the dock .
i would love to replace the ipod with my anroid phone, but i have not seen a charging dock that also has an i/r sensor. it would be absolutely fantastic to have this option, and if anyone has any recommendations, i'd love to hear them.
thanks.

[Q] Working on converting to android

so have a note2 and enjoying it... issue is getting media to my other devices. Currently I have an ipad1 sitting under my audio receiver connected via usb and it allows me to control spotify with my universal remote as if the receiver and ipad were one. I am thinking about buying a nexus 10 but I use my tabs for mostly media and ebooks. I want the sound and possible video (all streamed... spotify, netflix, google music, pandora) to somehow make it to my receiver and if it is video obviously make it to my tv. My receiver is a yamaha rx-373 (have a rx-473bl in the mail with networking abilities)
The solution I am looking at would preferably be something close to airplay or being able to connect my device through usb and control it with my universal remote or connect via hdmi but still charge my device. Ideal solution is being able to output everything over wifi to a receiver (maybe samsung allshare dongle) attached hdmi to my yamaha receiver. I just have no clue if that dongle will work with non samsung devices and if it will completely mirror my device.
Anyways this is what I am looking for and wasnt really trying to spend a bunch of money in trying things and paying return shipping on multiple things for what kind of knowledge probably is available here.

[Q] How did they do this?!

I've been searching for a car infotainment solution forever. Saw this video and spent countless hours trying to figure it out.
Short of buying a new head unit for my car, is there anyone out there that can explain how to do this?
Looks like it phone connects to a tablet running a single app. When connected they mirror each other. It would be nice to have a large display screen in a car or boat that could mirror the phone with touch controls. I found countless apps that will mirror but few with touch controls and those required wifi. Kind of hard in a car but possible.
They have another video showing the same mirroring on a linux machine.

fire TV stick - force 480p??

Is there any way to do this? the pressing reverse and up trick doesnt work anymore since an update. Which ironically i did to try and stop the buffering which is why i want to lower the resolution in the first place.
The fire stick itself only allows 720p lowest. my tv supports this... its my internet connection that seems to wax and wane on the fire stick despite being right next to the router, possibly due to being in a building right next to another building (aka alot of units sharing likely 1 or 2 main co-ax connections from the provider). sometimes its fine, other times its so scrambled i may as well be looking at the image while swimming underwater without goggles.
Why are they anti-low resolution? amazon prime video also does not support any features to lower the resolution. it does by itself once its already lagging behind, but this is what im trying to avoid! netflix allows this, as does disney plus and likely others. why doesnt amazon? even in player the only thing you can access is actor info or subtitles. nothing at all related to actual playback. settings cog shows nothing about playback either except i think subtitles
This is annoying. anyone know of any fixes or work arounds?
only other idea i have which im not sure it would matter is trying the ethernet hookup for the fire stick, but thats money i dont have right now
