Occasionally something has caused mine to get very hot..I keep a temp monitor on main homepage.....a reboot will usually solve the issue for a good period of time...I've noticed it less since the most recent update.

I've had this issue. Turn off location reporting, clear cache, restart. It happens on my Idol 3 and my G4.

You used it will you charged it, and it is dual sim... it is pretty obvious what that is.

Is it that so obvious to you?
I came from Zenfone 2 and no such thing with it. And still dual SIM while use and charge.
So... Maybe it's obvious to you for lack of experience with other smartphones.

This phone needs serious undervolt, i wish we can do that in the future, it gets too hot playing games and yet i have it underclocked to 1.1 ghz.

My last phone was Zen2, sold it for the Idol 3. Yes, it didn't get as warm but it's battery life didn't even compare. Octacores get hotter than quad cores, simple physics. You act like you never had a smartphone before. Try using the Exynos S4... then you will know what an overheating phone feels like.

Mine showing through power clean that location services and sometimes google play services are throttling the cpu, and causing overheat.. Bug from previous android systems, can't wait for source code so we can get custom rom and finish this agony for once..
Sent from hell

FWIW, androidpolice noted how the Snapdragon 615 in other phones has a bit of a reputation for running hot, but they didn't notice it as much on the Idol 3:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...-buys-you-so-much-more-phone-than-it-used-to/
In the Desire 820 and Oppo R5, these A53s can get very hot. But in the Idol 3, they stay substantially cooler - and I think that's because the Idol 3 slows down and throttles more readily than those phones. I hate to drag Alcatel into this Qualcomm throttling quagmire, but I have long had reservations about the Snapdragon 615, and having now used three phones with the chip, the Idol 3 continues to validate them.

It is only visible at certain angles in a dark room.
Went to a dark room and with angry birds 2 I see a little bit through power button
Poorly made. That's the light leaking from the screen.

No I don't, I haven't had any Moto's Products, but because I have/had HIGH expectation from Motorola, thought, they did that on purpose, because if it wasn't, it is a BIG MESS, BIG... !
I have it as well, and me being me i decided to try to test its waterproof ability . And my phone is still fully working so it affect its waterproof capability and yes i did do a full submersion. Also I contacted Motorola Tech Support and they said that is is fine.
Also a little side note after submersion if the speaker doesn't work its because the headphone jack is full of water so the phone thinks headphones are plugged in so just blow into it to get the water out.

OK, so I have analyze everything written in this reply and it appears that the moto g have a secret waterproof(half supported)and about the light coming out of the buttons moto really made it and they MEAN IT( since you said that you contacted moto tech support and they said it's fine)
So basically to summaries the phone is still IPX7, about the light I don't know if they meant it but they said it was "normal" sooo I don't really know.
I think it is by design specially that the audio button has two spots and the power button is only one. Personally I find it cool!

Here's the official Motorola reply.
Thanks for reaching out to us. The blue "light" seen in the photo is actually a reflection of the display backlight off of some internal components and is not a defect. The Moto G uses a combination of external seals and internal seals to keep your phone safe from splashes and drops in water. The power and volume keys are protected by internal seals, and there is no risk of water leakage in these areas.

So if its not a defect it means its supposed to be like that. To me it looks like it was done on purpose due to the location of the light. So agree with the poster a few posts back.
i can observe it .. i also have those blue light lit
Mine has it too and I'm still not 100% sure about the waterproofing. Maybe they stop using an external seal and leave all the work to an internal seal that was originally intended has a back up or change it(?). If light leaks then the only way water won't is that the seal or part is transparent, if they intended is a possibility tho. But I don't believe is one intended feature since no advertising about it was made at all and no all moto g semms to has it. It'll be a really weird move from Motorola to add a feature like this and the strangest thing is that no all of their support team knows about it.
I got in contact with them yestersay and after seeing the photos they tell me to ask for a replacement... maybe the agent was new or just lazy? I'll give it a try again and see if it was just the agent not knowing or laziness... Finally there's almost no information about this,so maybe is something that just start happening which might mean that this is a change in production.

Every moto g3 has that hole where light comes.
A have it too better not b a defect ave rooted and modded mines to the hill so my warrenty is gone.
I took a look at the internal components of the device by disassembling it and saw little lights behind the buttons, so the lights are actually meant to be there, don't know why though.

S7 Edge Exploding

Looks like there's new stories and a lawsuit over S7e's exploding from battery issues. Maybe a recall will be coming.

I don't know if that's really what happen. These phones been out 6 months with not one exploding battery. All until the Note 7 battery recall and now somebody claims that their s7 edge blew up. My gut tells me that guy was just trying to cash out.

The Note 7 has a large amount of devices catching fire/exploding (~90 in just the US alone) over a very short period of time, and they found a clear, traceable defect in batteries coming from one supplier. The situation with the S7E is nothing like that after several months on the market and millions more sold. Seriously, there is nothing noteworthy here.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/...-may-have-galaxy-7-edge-problem-too/90375218/
Oh, I think something is noteworthy here. My GF's friend is getting a new S7e from Sammy for a battery recall.
Maybe they will learn that it's a good idea to have a removable battery.

Judging by the amount of S7 devices and iphones being sold, I'm pretty sure nobody cares about a removable battery.

When those are the two best phones on the market (The third being the Nexus/Pixel line)...there really isn't a choice.
I wouldn't say that no one cares about the removable battery, I'd say the manufacturers have made it so that we just don't have the option and have to make our decisions based on other factors.

You're right...I was thinking the same thing...people are doing some janky **** to get refund
Not even two months after i received my S7 edge, my screen developed a green line on the right side of the screen. And the battery was heating up, and the phone was getting really hot. I took it to a Samsung service center, and they replaced the screen, and battery.

So far got no bug as well
What about the camera? Did you notice any improvements? Should have now the same great auto-hdr algorithm as the u11 (+) I guess.

I'm really hoping there's an improvement in the battery life because my U Ultra barely lasts a full day!
My phone doesn't last for a 12 hour working day after the Oreo update. I am going to hate my phone.

It's typical for HTC... I've got A9 and after update 2 nougat got hugh battery drain - no fix. Htc10 updated to Oreo = worst battery life. And now UUltra.. I'ts time to say goodbye HTC...

Well I have same problem, but still on 7.0
I had about 4 hours SOT with android 7 and now only 2 hours with android 8.
No update ota Oreo for me
Nothing in France, European firmware, no news for me?
I'm very surprised that everyone is getting bad battery life and many are complaining about ram management. Take into consideration that this phone has a small battery for its display, not that it has bad battery life. -- I just recently purchased u ultra sapphire glass edition, which I believe has the same specs except for the sapphire display and 128gb hdd... For me it has been working very well indeed. No issues to report as of yet, battery life is not great but most certainly does the job given that it only has 3k mah.... Granted I have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day, but that's because I'm a very heavy heavy user. For me it has given easily between 4-5 hours of SOT... I use a lot of apps and most of the time you'll find my screen to be on... I send emails a lot, watch Netflix during my spare time in the office and play a bunch of games. Yes, I literally use my phone a lot... Specially for emails and Netflix. I think the phone is doing pretty good considering the battery size. Also, as far as ram management goes it's been doing very well for me and I'm surprised by the performance of this device. Overall, it's a very good device and the secondary display is awesome. I don't really need this phone but I was interested in the display and that is exactly why I purchased it to see how the sapphire really is comparing to regular displays, but this phone does keep up with some of the other flagships of 2016/2017 phones.
I'm currently on Nougat and do not plan on updating to Oreo. Why? Because I know the specs of this phone will probably not be able to handle Oreo really well comparing to nougat. I'm sticking to nougat where I know it's running well and smoothly, without any issues...

Battery Case?

Is there anywhere to buy a battery case or plug-in external battery? Carrying a power bank all the time isn't incredibly convenient.
If you need an external battery with this phone then you are doing something seriously wrong...!!!

"Carrying a power bank all the time isn't incredibly convenient." With this phone ?! Really ?!
I can understand if you are in travel, but "all the time" ?!
I don't need it. I never have to charge this phone. But I'd still *want* it. ?
I get the want, I used to have the Samsung note 2 with an absurdly large upgrade battery with a humpback case and cover, like 4000 If I remember correctly unheard of back in the day. but it was so huge, I also have the mi max 3,, it could use a few 1000 more milliamps and be ok if it was a few cm thicker im for a bigger battery,, I had the zte zmax pro z981 that really needed a upgrade battery, never able to find one. I dreamed many a time about adding 2 batteries to it, and cutting a hole in the rear case to make it work.... ehh big screens big power consumption.,, use tmobile and get DIGITS and another MI MAX 3, both ring from the same number, but only one has 4g data, the digits is only 3 g data, (piss poor) but 4g phone calling. both will have wi fi, I used my zte zmax with the digits line, and used to bring both phones with me everywhere, as the mi max was a bit of a compermise on some items I was weaning myself off of the ZTE, till I started leaving it at my bedside for late night videos then just reset it and gave it to my son, finaly the MI Max 3 is my only phone, so I am with you on more battery ...
I've decided to purchase a Zerolemon Oneplus case with around 8000mah. I'm going to buy a cheap case off of Aliexpress after that and make one. If everything goes well, I may make a tutorial and post the photos.
This phone had a 5500mAh battery... It keeps even me, a diehard user, going for 2 to 3 days straight...
Why would any sane person need a power bank at this point?
I applaud you for the effort though.
You have some battery cases on aliexpress, but you dont need it, i get around 3-4 days with 14h or more screen on time, never less than 14

That was my logic too. Camera was the main feature I wanted.
There's obviously more options out there now, so it might not be as competitive as it was 8 months ago in March.
I wasn't bothered about 5g as I thought it would be at least a year or 2 before 5g benefits my area. Obviously there's been 8 months more of 5g infrastructure so depending where you live, and your needs, a 5g capable phone could be preferable?

I still dont see that much need for 5G in a year at least so that wont be a problem, but the curvy screen is something i was looking to avoid as i dont like it, it is the only downside for me at the moment.
I was also looking into oneplus nord but i really think the camera is inferior, mi 10 and mi note 10 are still the ones im looking into right now, and they got amazing prices this end of the year.
In my area I agree with you about 5g atm, but if I was planning to keep the phone for 2 years I might then think about 'future' proofing.
I didn't fancy the curved screen either, as I was worried how screen protectors would work. Fortunately screen protectors still protect the screen, I've dropped my phone plenty and it's unharmed.
It can be difficult touching the edge of the screen at times, and you can accidently click on the curved edge, but neither of these things is a big deal. On the positive side the curve allows for a larger screen.

I'd get the Mi 10 at €399 over the Mi Note 10 at €400. A Mi 10 at that price is currently a brilliant deal!
I wanted the Mi 10 but in the UK the Mi 10 was £799 and I got the Mi Note 10 for only £379.
