As to your question, I'm sorry to tell you that once you have deleted items, it's gone. There is no know way to recover those items.

[Q] [HELP] Deleted storage/emulated and now all my photos disappeared

I seem to be having the same problem as this except(android.stackexchange.com/questions/61531/removed-storage-emulated-0-file-and-lost-access-to-all-files) there was never a solution. I tried remaking the folders and restarting the phone but that didn't work.
Can anybody help me out?
Soooo you wiped internal storage? Pictures are gone... Best bet is to try Disk Digger or some similar app and see if it works. Also make a backup next time before you do whatever you tried to do as to avoid this situation in the future.

I was thinking that I only wiped the symlink to the files. I will try to see if it helps. Thanks for the tip.

I was going to, except to make a nandroid backup or backup in general using custom recovery I need to go have more than half of my sdcard be free space (since it back it up to the internal sdcard) and I only had like 500-600 MB free I know you can move nandroid backups to the computer to free up space, but I do not know if I could backup straight to computer since N5 has no space.

A nandroid wouldn't have helped. It doesn't backup pictures, etc. Use drop box or something or back them up on your pc frequently.

From my understanding, a nandroid backs up everything on the selected partition. So /system would save your ROM and its settings, etc. Normally on a phone with a SD card it won't back that up, but the N5 only has internal memory. Backing up /data won't save pictures and videos you took?

nope. It just backs up the system partition; data, apps and settings; and boot, kernel

That's odd. I could have sworn after I accidentally wiped my internal storage I had my pictures back after restoring a nandroid. Still have them all.
OP, any luck with disk digger? I just deleted a folder of useless memes I made with an app and used disk digger and restored them. This is the one I used

Running it right now! It has found 6876 files and counting, and they seem to be full size! Thank you so much! That app is awesome.
And thanks guys, going to go back up my files after it's done
EDIT: Shame the file structure is not preserved

It's not possible..
You're scanning the drive for actual files on the drive that no longer exist in the filesystem. Think of the file system as a database that tells the OS where the files are. When you delete a file, it doesn't really get deleted. Just the database entry about it.
The files exist whether there is a database entry in the file system or not but if you think about it, unlike files , the folders don't really exist on the disk.. When you create a folder, it doesn't really create a folder on the disk. It just reflects the "location" in the database. Folders don't exist on the disk so they cannot be restored. Restoring the files just adds new entries to the file system. It cannot find the deleted entries and reconnect them with the actual files
Hope this clarifies what you're seeing

[Q] How to recover deleted photos without root/unlocking bootloader ?

I have Moto G XT 1034 and I accidentally deleted my photos. I tried to find recovery options but most of the recovery options require to root the device, now if I choose to root it I will first have to unlock bootloader which will wipe all my data and I will not be able to recover the deleted files.
Moto G does not connect to PC as USB mass storage and therefore some recovery software which I tried but cannot detect my phone's drive. I tried Recuva, EaseUS mobile recovery, Glary Undelete, Dr. Fone and Photo Recovery but none of them detect MTP/PTP connection.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks

The first line says "If you don't use the phone's internal SD storage - There is still a chance...."
My photos were stored as per phone's default location (Moto G again) so I am not sure what is that supposed to mean for me. If there are any chance for me can you please explain in some details ?
The more you use the phone, the more you reduce the chances of recovering the photos.
The internal storage partition (/sdcard/) is used by apps, as well as for storing downloads, music, photos and videos.
The photos can be recovered as long as they space they currently occupy has not been overwritten by new files.
about two weeks ago an app misbehaved and deleted all data on my moto g. I was very frustrated and disappointed. Only pc recovery softwares were useless because internal memory can not be mounted as mass storage in newer android versions. So i rooted my phone and tried undelete pro, hexamob recovery pro, diskdigger pro. But all these apps are bull****. None of them recovered a single kilobyte of my 12 gb memory which contained music, videos, photos, my apps and their data and my favourite ebooks. Before trying these apps i had read this article too which i found only working method http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
But i didn't try and tried those apps first. You should take a look. Btw i recovered from that pain of losing files and have new files now ☺

This sub-forum is for Moto G (1st Gen) only. However the information in this thread and links provided most likely still apply to your handset.

Hi,
First, no need for the language. I fixed that for you!
Also, XDA Assist is here to help navigate the site, not for support, and I see you know where your device section is. So please ask for help in your device section.

Titanium Backup deleted my backups

Hey guys,
I just upgraded my Nexus 5 to Marshmallow, I was successful in restoring my sms, call log etc, however it was hanging at 0% when restoring apps.
I did a google search and one of the suggestions stated I should change backup location from Filesystem storage to DocumentProvider storage.
I pointed TiBU to the Titanium Backup folder, it asked if I wanted to move my backups to the external storage and all my backups then disappeared, I've checked from within titanium, I've used the search function as well as manual browsing using 2 different file managers, connected the phone via USB, and to no avail.
Would appreciate any advice
Thanks

How to permanently erase data ?

Hi guys, I deleted some videos and photos from my Huawei 9 Mate the normal way before I let go, but I want to be sure that no one can restore it. I also downloaded Shreddit app and I will use it on empty storage space. Are any data still recorevable after this ? I did a little research and found out that Huawei can't be encrypted, so can anyone give me a tip, what to do, so no one could recover any data ? Thanks

You will be fine, are you that concerned? Chances of someone actually digging old information out is NOT LIKELY going to happen unless for some reason the phone lands in the wrong hands and involves authorities
to get clean, you can use this app -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apparillos.android.androshredder
to get a safer access to your personal files, you can use this app -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.egosecure.uem.encryption
but 100% safeness, seems to be impossible until now. (depending on whoever gets the device in their hands)
Hi, thank you for your tips. I downloaded both apps. I already deleted the files a week ago, so now I just have to wipe the internal storage, but it doesn't give you the option to wipe just empty space. I will have to wipe everything. Is the Andro Shredder better than Shreddit ? With Shreddit you can wipe just internal empty space. The EgoSecure Encryption seems just to encrypt single files, can I encrypt the whole storage before factory reset ? In Huawei there is also function called "safe" when I go to security (I don't have the english version), where you can choose password for the whole internal storage, wouldn't this be enough for encryption ? Thanks
i have no own experience with the Huawei build in encryption.
EgoSecure is also able to encrypt the whole folders if you need.
AndroShredder can cleanup and shredder internal and external SD! Sometimes you have to go to the upper right side to the 3 dots to select "show internal drive too" to be able to have access to both sd cards.
I had tried both apps (androshredder and shreddit). androshredder has won because i can't get access with shreddit to files on external sd! they are shown with a lock symbol.
Go into Recovery Mode, then select 'wipe data...' and 'wipe cache...'.
