Roaming menu in OD3? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently scratching my head at this one... am domestic unlocked thanks to idoneapps but can't seem to get my data/mms working (voice, txt does). APN has been checked, re-checked, and entered several times with no success.
Phone info shows mobile network is "in service" but state is "disconnected". Coming out of airplane mode it will stick on "connecting" for a while before failing and dropping back to "disconnected".
On invesigation I recalled there used to be a roaming menu in NE5 that could be made visible with some CSC trickery.
I tried the same trick in OD3 with no success - so has anyone else seen a roaming menu in OD3?
Currently running with csc code/sales code XAS.
Any insight would be helpful - Thanks.
Update: Can confirm it's still there, Shortcut Master search found it. Dunno why it's not showing up the normal way though... and still no data by the looks of it.

[Q] Captivate Unlocked, How to scan networks manually and set n/w to 2G/3G?

Hi,
I am using Samsung Captivate(unlocked) in India on Airtel's network.
Under 'Network Operators' menu, phone displays a read-only setting called 'Default Setup'. there is no way I can scan network manually.
this is problem for me while I am roaming. while roaming, I want the setting to be 'manual' so that I can hop onto my fav network.
usually(in any other phone), there would be a setting to set the network to manual or automatic mode.
other problem is that, there is no place to set the network mode(i.e 2G/3G).
are there any tweaks I can do to enable these settings on Captivate.
I am on JH7 update with out any kind of root.
Thanks
You would have to type in the apn fields manually then. Unless theres a secret menu somewhere which I haven't found yet. Oh and for the 2g 3g theres multiple threads on the q and a section about that
Yay no more fc
This is for me who came back from Dubai and found my stupid captivate would not connect back to AT&T network.
I could not chnage the network as "default setup" was greyed out and phone gave continued warning could not connect to etisalat ( dubai provider).
I found out through a lot of hard searching that I needed to use samservmode then
DEBUG SCREEN > PHONE CONTROL > NETWORK CONTROL -> PLMN AUTO/MANUAL set to AUTO
That fixed it and got me back on AT&T

Thanks for this thread.
i just returned from Nigeria and much to my surprise in Atlanta I couldn't get the
AT&T network back on.
doesn't work
I tried the app and it's not working. But for some reason AT&T is back on the air.
So I'm OK for now but can't get the Default Mode to turn to automatic.
Anything else i need to do to phone so SamServMode will work. Or am I not saving the changes properly?

[SOLVED]: "Mobile Network Not Available" error

I have had several instances where something I have done to my phone created a situation where I had no phone dialing capability. The error message when attempting to dial is "mobile network not available", and I'd get notice of "searching for network".
Restoring the com.android.phone app did not help with this. Neither did the suggestion seen elsewhere about entering ##72786# into the keypad to reprogram. The past solutions was to do a factory reset/wipe and then a restore of apps...pain in the a**.
Today I was able to work out another solution that has resolved this issue for me (at least this time)!.
1. Download Anycut app from http://www.freewarelovers.com/android/download/temp/1281882094_Any_Cut_1.0.apk, and open.
2. Make a new shortcut to activity named IOTHiddenMenu (the first one of three with the same name in the list)
3 Open this shortcut and select the following: TestMode Menu>UTMS>Debug Screen>Phone Control>Network Control>Band Selection>Automatic, then hit back twice to get to your main screen.
4. Download Phone Info ([email protected]) from Google Play, and open
5. Use Phone Info app to change preferred network type "“LTE/CDMA/EvDo" (click on Device Information and scroll down for first box to select and change).
If this works to solve your same issue, let me know in the thread.
And if it helps...give a thanks.
Lair12, now that I am back in the US, for the first time since using my S3 outside the US, I'm getting the no network error as you describe here...
I've tried the steps you describe here, but I still can't dial out (I do have 4g data).
I was wondering if you might have any other ideas before I start flashing? Any insights would be greatly Appreciated!
I had a similar issue recently where I could receive texts and utilize data but nothing else. Attempting to dial out would lead to the "Mobile Network Not Available."
This problem first occurred after putting a T-mobile sim in the phone. I tried numerous things such as playing with the phone settings in phoneinfo and I even restored the Verizon image which re-rooted my phone but nothing would help.
I decided to place my microsim into my thunderbolt (with an adapter of course). The thunderbolt worked just fine (phone calls, SMS and Data).
I then placed the microsim from the thunderbolt back into the S3 and everything went back to working as normal. Not sure if it will work for anyone else but I figured I would share since I went crazy trying to find a solution that did not require a full factory reset.
Well, just to close the loop, I was never able to restore my voice connection... I ended up having to reset the phone back to stock to get it back...
Oh well, it gave me a reason to try out CM10!

I'm necro-ing this thread since it just happened to me and I found a fix on CM10.1 given the root cause. Also, Anycut no longer exists in the store -- try using "QuickShortcutMaker" instead.
This seems to happen when the radio gets switched off the correct frequency. To get it back (in CM10.1), you have to dial *#*#4636#*#* . As soon as you hit the last *, you will be taken to a "Testing" menu.
Click "Phone information" then make sure your phone number and IMEI look roughly correct. Then press the "Menu" softkey and then "Select radio band". For Verizon CDMA/LTE, this should be set on "Cellular (800-MHz)". Tap it, and the signal indicator in the menu bar should go back to normal. Also make sure the "Preferred network type" is set to "LTE/CDMA auto (PRL)". (This is also where you enable "GSM auto (PRL)" if you want to make it a WorldPhone.)
The other option in here is USA band (GSM-850/PCS-1900/WCDMA-850/WCDMA-PCS-1900), which I presume is for GSM compatibility since "Global" isn't an option in the "Mobile Networks" menu in CM10.1 (without a certain cherrypick).

Interesting, thanks for the follow up!
I'm currently running Paranoid Android, but this my work for that as well. The next time I leave the US for work, (if I see this issue) I'll give it a try..
Doesnt Work for me, BUT EFS Pro Does!

Re-Necromancing Again....
Doesnt work for me. I had to push "call" after entering last star same error- no mobile network... Thought I would give it a try since I hit the wrong option on the screen. I was looking at the LTE options and got distracted... I did however get EFS Pro to Open IOTHiddenMenu. It is like the 2nd or 3rd tab, you will know it when you see it. Now to find out where (IOTHiddenMenu) is hiding on the actual phone. I did find
*#22745927
This shows an option to hide or show the "hidden menu".
I tried enable and a reboot, but no luck. Looks like EFS Pro is My Solution currently.

Accidentally changed APN setting now no call/text but data connection is fine

I was out in the country trying to get my phone connected to a network as the rest of my family (same plan) had connections with their iphones. Low and behold a new setting shows up in mobile networks that I had not seen before, Access Point Names. My biggest mistake was changing settings in something I knew nothing about but I did and pressed restore factory default. Once I reached an area that had a data connection, it seemed all worked well until I tried to send a text. I soon found out I couldn't send or receive any texts/calls.
I've flashed to stock, updated prl, and nothing has worked. I tried to change apn settings using those from this site 4GLTE, but it proved futile. Now I'm stuck and more frustrated than I was before I couldn't get service.
I feel like an idiot and really could use some help! Thanks!

call your carrier and check your apn setting with them. Fastest and easiest way.

Help request: LTE Data works,"no service" otherwise. IMEI/number, but no texts/calls.

Help request: LTE Data works,"no service" otherwise. IMEI/number, but no texts/calls.
Software: Android 5.0.1 Skydragon M8 v2.0 Sense 7
Many people have posted issues with LTE where their cellular signal was fine for "2G" functions like calls and texts.
I'm having the opposite problem. After leaving airplane mode (landing at an airport today), I have a "No Service" message in the status bar drop down (notification tray), and the Settings>Network information page shows "Not Registered." However, I do have an IMEI (see details below). However, LTE data works perfectly fine.
I've obviously tried changing the settings in Settings>Mobile Data (preferred network to Global / LTE / LTE/legacy 3GPP mode) connection type global/auto/LTE/etc), to no avail. If LTE is connected it works flawlessly, but I cannot make calls or texts, and show not registered on the network. Data roaming is set to deny, but even allowing roaming does not change the situation.
Before this happened, I HAD gone through all the XTended Settings, and even 'looked' at (but did NOT change) some advanced settings pages, including the 'hidden' HTC network info page ( *#*#4636#*#* ). Again, however, I didn't change anything -- unless by accident?!
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Anyone know if I may have inadvertently changed something and can change it back (a setting that would persist in the hardware through NANDROID restores and factory resets...). Or, any other advice to restore the cellular service connection to normal?
I've tried a full NANDROID restore (multiple times) to a working copy, and a factory reset. I have limited access to a PC since I'm traveling, so re-flashing the VZW firmware or stock recovery or lollipop/verizon RUU would be challenging.
I did spend a good 45 minutes (at a library, my only PC access!) searching the forums and web, but to no avail.
Settings information:
OPperator Name: Verizon
Signal Strength -114 (I've had better but still have the same issues)
Mobile Network type: LTE
Service state: In service
IMS service state: Not Registered
Roaming: Not Roaming
Phone Identity page:
IMEI shows up (15-digit number...how can I verify I didn't mess this up?)
Phone Number is correct
IP Address: 100.66..... (looks good)
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

I'm having the same issue. When i try to make a call my LTE bars drop to nothing and it says call failed no network available. Any ideas or help would be nice. I was using venom rom as well. I'm currently trying to flash the newest RRU to see if that resets things. I'm wondering if it somehow my sim card. I took it from my droid turbo. I've made sure to turn off advanced calling on my VZW account though.

I had this same issue, running from ruu then rooted. I didn't noticed until I started seeing voice mail notifications but never heard the phone ring. When I tried to dial out I got the immediate call lost message. I couldn't figure what was causing it so I just did a reset. I made sure not to restore any systems data from prior to the Lollipop upgrade. At this point everything is working, the only thing I haven't installed yet is the xposed framework and sense 6 toolbox.

What kind of reset did you do? I know my issue is slightly different, but I did a full RUU-flash yesterday (latest lollipop version) and still no luck. Unfortunately I'm out of the country now and access to a computer is limited, and I don't even have a SIM card yet to check if cellular service would work anyway.
I do intend to do a flash of the stock recovery and radios once I have the time and access, but that may be a while...
Still, I'll keep checking this thread to see if anyone posts any other options

Just go into settings and to Backup & Reset , this will return your phone to a fresh install and remove all non bundled apps.
Before doing the reset try going into Settings then Call then change Preferred Network to Global, or toggle from LTE then back to Global.

GSM / Network Signal grey out

Hey all, thanks in advance for any advice offered.
For some reason my GS8+ has a greyed out GSM signal bar with an 'x' next to it. As far as I remember the only thing I did was put it to charge overnight. I've tried removing the SIM, still grey, inserting another carrier's SIM (known to be working), still grey, my original SIM also works fine in another phone. Everything else not related to cell service works fine (wifi, bluetooth etc.). I can see the IMEI number in settings as usual.
I've tried resetting the network settings, factory resetting the phone, I've even reloaded the ROM via Odin. No joy.
The phone is pretty much stock, except for the fact that I changed the carrier software from AT&T to Verizon in order to use a particular LTE band. Since I did that, the phone worked fine for several months.
I've only noticed two things odd thus far. After reloading the ROM and downloading a few updates, a game (Empire) appeared from nowhere installed in my app drawer. Also, the Airplane mode icon in the notification shade is light blue, similar to when it's transitioning from off to on. Airplane mode seems to work though, because I can toggle it, and the wifi reacts as such.
I can't search network operators manually (says: Error while searching for networks), changing the network mode does nothing, and none of the secret dialing codes work either. They all say "Mobile network not available". With a SIM inserted, my SIM status menu says, Network: unknown, Signal strength: -113dBm 0 asu, Service state: Radio off.
Sorry if I'm long-winded, but I'd appreciate any assistance at all. Thanks again for taking the time to read.
Hey, I'm having the same problem. Did you find a fix?
Nope.
I had a same issue after I update girlfriend's s7 . The ROM (custom one) was based on newer version but the firmware and BL were old.
I know and I understand that you just put it to charge overnight but you can give a try to flash latest firmware CRED one.
Allso is mandatory to chose the correct country and carrier. Chose the country where you are and Verzion carrier
I have same issue tried flashing other roms. All didn't work
