Need help enabling data on cm 12.1 - T-Mobile LG G2

Hey guys, just recently upgraded to cm-12.1-20150811-NIGHTLY-d801, and everything seems fine expect that my data doesn't work for some odd reasons, making phone calls seem to work, but not getting anything with data, can anyone help?

Update your apn

Same here on no data, APN settings look good. Modem issues?

It has to be a software issue. It happens to me as well. I updated apn settings manually but still no luck. I keep hoping there is a fix for it with a new nightly but nothing yet.

This just happened to me. I was able to fix it by going into APN settings and selecting the tmo ipv6 APN. That one worked for me.

Noo,why does need this? If my provider does not suport my dwvice there is asolution?

I have been having problems with my mms since I first received my Nexus. MMS take 3 days to send and downloading mms gets stuck at downloading and never opens. I did some research and from what I understand it has something to do with your APN settings, try searching for the correct APN settings for your area and provider. APN settings can be found in ---> SETTINGS>WIRELESS&NETWORKS>MOBILE NETWORKS>
ACCESS POINT NAMES
** I have yet to fix my MMS issues, if you find something I would love to know

Yea, I don't know if re-flashing the ROM would be of any use. Some people argue that MMS only work if you have a data plan with your provider, but I've read otherwise as well. I've also heard of Nexus users getting more up-to-date sim cards and that fixed their issues, maybe worth a try? You might want to give your provider a call and ask them for the correct APN settings or at least explain your problem to them and see if they offer any assistance.

No mobile data CM7 G2x using Cincinnati Bell

Is anyone making any progress on this issue? Any OTA based ROMs work perfectly. Any ROMs based on CM7 refuse to activate mobile data.
They also are unable to read the mobile number or the VM service center number from the SIM card. I think the two are related.

Did you set your apn and enable it? I'm sure you did but need to ask.
Yes, the APN is set (green dot) and mobile data is enabled. I've tried setting and then unsetting airplane mode to try to get mobile data going.
I've also tried getril to make sure the ril and baseband match. I've also dropped Stk.apk from the OTA rom into /system/app on CM7 to no effect.
This is both in the release version and 174 nightly.
I'm on T-Mobile and data works, but it's definitely not as stable as the factory based roms. I always thought it had something to do with not being able to read the sim card information too.
Data on CBW
Hi,
I had a similar problem. You have to both put in the correct APNs (search online - CBW support center gives out most of the values)
But you also need to go into *#*#4636#*#* (4635 spells 'info'). Select the phone information button and scroll down to "SMSC". You'll have to search online to see what the correct value is (it doesn't display it otherwise I would just read it off for you). Search for a website that gives it in hex values. Input that hex value and restart your phone. That should fix both data and SMS if I am not mistaken.
Hope that helps
Okay so here's the SMSC from my working ROM:
002B00310035003100330032003400300030003100340030
Going to give it a shot.

Putting in the SMSC didn't seem to make a difference. I'm going to experiment more tonight.

Does anyone who has data working on another carrier, can you post your radio firmware version?

I've been trying to input my smsc as well. In with wind but I find it weird that both me and you have the same smsc number. So I think that nag be partially our issue.

I pulled that SMSC number from the OTA T-Mobile ROM. With working data and SMS on cinbell. I have a feeling that it doesn't mean what we think it means.

I run stock GB 2.3.3. rooted and I get data on all carriers in Thailand. I get 3/4G with TOT3G and Edge with AIS, DTAC and True.
You should have no problem getting data by simply entering the correct apn. Also on Cincinnati Bell bell you should be getting 3G+ data.
Maybe I didn't say it clearly enough. I get working data including 4g on any ROM based on the 2.3.3 OTA. Weapon, rooted OTA, debloated, etc. I only fail to get data on ROMs based on CM7.
And yes, the APN information is right. I've even tried making a new APN entry with the settings that work on OTA ROMs.
It's like the radio isn't working right in CM7.

Maybe try a different ril. You can use getril app

well i am new to this and i have the same issue, i first tried to install cm7 172 and had no signal what so ever but i could connect to wifi, so then i started over and used cm7 182 and still no signal, soo, then i reflashed gingerbread 2.3.4 rooted, still no signal, so then i called tmobile and asked them if everything on their side looked right and they said it did.
so i conclude that it is whatever we are not doing
that being said i hope some one can tell us what to do cause afterwards ill make a tutorial for those of us who go thread to thread looking for answears

I've tried that RIL matches.
I'm seriously wondering if it's the radio baseband. I've got the July 2011 tmobile version. V21E RIL matches.

I have an answer, or at least a work-around. Can't claim credit for it, read it on the Cyanogenmod forums.
In the apn settings, fill in EVERYTHING. Even PAP/CHAP. Save. Then go back and clear out the ones that should be empty. Save again. It will start working.
There must be an APN field that doesn't start null in the CM7 base, that T-Mobile uses that CinBell doesn't. That would explain why T-Mobile users never experienced this issue.
I've narrowed it down some more. Authentication type needs explicitly set to none. I'm submitting a change request to CyanogenMod.

Thank you for posting this Terry, this got data working on my newly rooted g2x on cincinnati bell with the MIUI 1.25.11 ROM. However my MMS settings must be screwed up as I'm still unable to send MMS messages. I'll keep tooling with it, but for now data is as it should be. Thanks again.

You saved my day!
It now works.
It have to be fixed, as I'm using the latest nightly (20130301) and it's still a bug, and this is the latest available CM version for p999.

[q] d2g/roms/gsm

Hey Everyone,
Can anyone who has been using a D2G on a GSM network, I am on Rogers in Canada myself, provide some feedback on which ROM's they have tried aside from stock blur rom, that has worked properly with GSM?
I know CM7 doesn't work worth **** on GSM and the MIUI ICS that is out has mixed GSM reviews.
So if anyone has any ideas or positive results I would love to hear about it.
Otherwise, it will be time to say bye bye to the D2G
Froyo-based CM7 was perfectly stable on GSM.
Gingerbread-based, I don't dare touch it. I know MIUI works, but there are quirks.
I tried CM7 Gingerbread. It worked well for calls but i could not get it to accept an APN so I couldn't get data except on Wi-Fi. after a couple of days I gave up and ran into the Miui ICS build. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and I'm quite happy with it. I did have to install third party app to get it to accept an APN at first (it kept FCing from the Android settings menu) but after that it's all been perfect.
What cell carrier network are you using? GSM ? Rogers? What was the apn fixer app called. Thanks.

Will try miui ics too.
Will I be too optimistic when I ask whether there exists something like safestrap for d2g?

There's only CWM via Droid2 Recovery Bootstrap (which uses logwrapper hijack).

Try long pressing the data toggle in the notification bar, might get you to the Mobile network settings screen.

[Q] A Guessing about the 4.0 MMS Problem

Hi everyone!
My service supplier uses different APNs for internet & mms. I'm using CyberGR Mod v11, which is a 4.0.4 rom.
I find that my phone can only send MMS when wifi is connected with mobile data on, while it can't when no wifi. Of course the settings are all the same.
so here I guess that the Android OS couldn't switch APN automatically, maybe when one APN is in-use.
Anyone has any idea/information about the problem or solution?
Thanks!
My phone can do it fine either way, so I guess there's another thing.
I couldn't send or receive MMS on CyberGR (v10)rom on wifi or 3G.
No one seemed to have a solution except that my apn settings were wrong. They weren't.
Switched to CM9 nightly and everything's good.
Not quite as cool as CyberGR but way more stable and no bugs so far

The only thing keeps me away from original CM9 is that I don't have a fast way to turn torch on.
I love CyberGR for all its Mods especially all the toggles. Just need a daily driver right now where everything works though.

Boost Mobile xt1031 "Roaming indicator off"

So here is another one for you guys. I haven't seen anybody else talk about it on this forum yet. But every time I flash a ROM, even when it's meant for boost Mobile, I always get a roaming indicator off. It seams like I still have a data connection cause it shows 3g and such. But I'd it safe to keep doing it? Anyone have any idea what it could be?
Sent from my XT1031 using Tapatalk
Bump maybe
Sent from my XT1032 using Tapatalk
what does it say under settings->wireless & networks More..->Mobile network settings
specifically:
->Network Mode?
I have mine on home only
->CDMA settings?
mine are all grayed out
->Roaming Guards?
none selected in mine
hope that helps.
Also adding on to this I just started using the official nightly from cyanogen and still got the indicator.
Preferred Network mode is global
System select is set to home only.
Cdma subscription is set to NV.
It's weird cause in not losing data connection but now I can't seam to download pics from MMS messages. Idk. Every build seams to do this.
