Hi,
Is it currently possible to root the Samsung Galaxy S6 from Docomo, Japan (SC-05G version)? I'm going to get it as it's only around 400 usd here in Japan. Thank you.
You can try pingpong root.

Thanks, but PingPong doesn't support the ROM installed on Docomo S6, right? (image below)

The latest Android Version that I can get for my Docomo variant is 5.0.2, can I still use this method? (it seems this is for 5.1.1 only)

There's no CF Root package available for my phone model (SC-05G) unfortunately.
I guess we will have to wait for further developments...
According to a forum in Japanese:
SC-05Gだろ何言ってんだ?
smg9200のCF auto rootでrootとれてるぞ
It seems that using sm-g9200 's CF auto root, SC-05G (Docomo Galaxy S6) can be rooted. But it will trip KNOX.

Thanks, I actually was able to flash TWRP (the normal one didn't work, but somehow the TWRP for Sprint worked) and install SuperSU from there. Maybe the Docomo S6 and Sprint S6 have similar hardware. I tripped KNOX and didn't care much .
One thing though, I wish I can flash a custom ROM like this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...t/temporary-ram9200-ofe-thread-5-1-1-t3169592. Although this one is for Sprint, maybe it will work for my phone, too. How risky it is to try to flash this if I already have a nandroid backup from TWRP?
Status update?

I just picked up an s6 from Docomo on sunday because I dropped my s4 into a puddle of standing water and the display is fried.
I'd like to root, but I'm wondering, how did your root go?
I know we're not exactly supported here...
Also, do you think it really matters if we trip Knox repeatedly? It voids our warranty, sure, but with the insurance that we have here, you can simply smash your phone with a brick and pay the 5000 yen deductible to get a shiny, new phone, correct?
Anyway, I'm curious what your thoughts are on this, and if you have any useful info for someone newer than you to the s6.
Cheers,
Richard
Have you managed to root your samsung and without angering the mighty knox? I also live in Japan, I'm shopping for a sim-free 3gb ram phone that's good and easily rootable (other than nexus) . Anyone know a good suggestion? buying overseas models seems problematic because most don't support all main docomo bands. so I have to stick to versions sold in Japan );
Hi,
I'm looking for rom cook for galaxy s6 docomo sc-05g, who can help me? Thank you!

If you've tried them all you might just be out of luck. Towelroot was once known to work best on the VZW S3 contract version

What's the model number of your phone? It sounds like you have a locked bootloader and you might be SOL.
What is it that you are trying to do if you don't mind me asking?

I'll be happy with root and busy box at this point.
A handful of people are dying to root this phone. Unfortunately, it may never happen.
This thread is collecting a few, might want to check in there sometime later.
This thread is for posting only updated information and discussion of root status and methods for the Galaxy S7.
This thread is not for:
Discussion of the merits of rooting or not rooting. Please go here for that.
Whining about Samsung and/or your carrier if your device is not rootable.
Other off-topic discussion.
Also, please do not quote the OP at any time.
Rooting method for the Exynos 8890-based global devices including SM-G935F/FD/X and Canadian SM-G935W8:
[Recovery][Exynos][G935/F/FD/X/W8] Official TWRP for hero2lte (3.0.0-1)
WARNING: This will trip Knox and potentially void your warrant. Knox cannot be reset.
Rooting method for the Snapdragon 820-based models in the US including SM-G935A/T/P/R/V/U
Main thread: Root s7 at&t g930a & g935a. There are other threads in device-specific sections.
This root method involves using an engineered boot image that doesn't trip Knox if you do it right, however the bootloader is locked so flashing custom ROMs is still not possible.
The OP here will be updated as news develops...

This is late, but John Legere was lying through his teeth - this was entirely a TMo decision. Got an international version (without snapdragon) which is working good. Will never by another device from TMo US.

But we can't install TWRP on s7 edge SM-G935T remember the bootloader is locked in tmobile we only have root for it
After you have your phone rooted:
Install Flash Fire from play store, give it permissions.
download: xposed-v85.1-sdk23-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam-20160530.zip
XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4
transfer those two files onto your phone, somewhere you can find them
Install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4
Open Flash Fire
Hit the red + button
Touch Flash Zip
Find the xposed-v85.1-sdk23-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam-20160530.zip file
FLASH
Now, it's going to take a while most likely for it to do the whole thing and don't worry if it looks like it got stuck on the white SAMSUNG loading page as it is just running through its checks
Any questions?
Edit: I did this on a 935a that was switched to a 935u but should work for the t as well
Thanks

I suspect you will be on XEU firmware like me, currently only been rolled out to BTU. Nothing to worry about, just got to be patient. If you are really unlucky, you will have a three specific variant of firmware and it could take ages to roll out!

I have now updated my phone to oreo BTU thorugh odin. But in phone settings I get theese two settings which makes the phone crash. Does anyone know if it is possible to remove these or what they are for?

Hello. I already have an European firmware, but I'm from Latin america. I was wondering if is there any problems if I update my S8 (G950F) with this one (region DBT Germany), because I forget at all which country I choose when I did the region update (in here the updates are just too slow to arrive, because the carrier).
I would like to know if it has some local / specific configurations or if is it totally unlocked, international, clean, no different boot screen, or something like that. My current software, as an European firmware, is so much fast receiving the updates, but I haven't received this one yet. Sorry about my English, and I hope u guys understand. Thanks!
