[Q] Locked Kernel only on Verizon devices or EU devices too? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there!
I've heard the really wide spreading fact that Verizon and AT&T lock their S6 bootloaders. My question is, does this apply to unbranded EU phones too or can I upgrade to 5.1.1 without any fear?
Thanks already!

You can upgrade to 5.1.1 without fear as long as the ROM is official and specific to your S6 model number.

Thanks! Well I had the after-thought that rooting without tripping Knox would be impossible on 5.1.1 anyways... I mean there is this dev-kernel-thingy going around but people seem to break more than fix with that...

Its still not possible to root 5.1.1 without tripping knox.

[Q] KNOX, Root, Gar VR

Hey guys,
today i switched from my beloved Note 3 to the S7, so i have some questions:
What does tripping KNOX have as downsides appart from not being able to use the KNOX apps( as on my Note 3) and loosing my warranty (which does not affect me as a EU citizen) have?
There is no KNOX 0x0 root for the S7 yet, right? only the CF-Root which does trip KNOX.
Does anyone have experience with the S7 and the GearVR? How is it?
Only one custom Rom (Super Man) for this device? For the Note 3 there were dozens...
I read that i will never get AOSP Roms or CM on the S7? Is that still true or are people finding ways to achieve this?
Thanks in advance

None other known issues for Knox 0x1.
Yes no known root without tripping the else.
GearVR is fun. Look at the gearvr forum.
Yes only one active custom rom for now.
Time will tell about aosp and cm. If bootloader unlock will come sometime for the sd variant I guess there will be. And if there comes working kernel sources for the exynos then maybe they get an aosp rom.
loosing my warranty (which does not affect me as a EU citizen)

Why isn't the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 rootable

So i've been TRYING to search in the internet for a root method over Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 for 9 months and no rooting method has been released. I was wondering HOW did verizon locked out rooting all together.
That i can answer, but not completely, but I will try my best on why its not rootable
The answer is the bootloader. The bootloader is what makes rooting impossible for verizon samsung galaxy s6. How did I know this? I know some guy that checks xda forums everyday and asked him if he can make a rooted rom off of it that i got from the internet and thats when i got the information from.
He said samsung, or verizon, implemented something in the bootloader that prevent rooting the phone. And the only way to allow rooting to the phone is if some higher level android developer from the xda community rewrites the bootloader of the verizon samsung galaxy s6 which can allow rooting, and (i dont think) it has something to do with ro.secure or ro.adb.secure being switched from 1 to 0. He did say that it is a lot harder now cause the limitations of rooting is now bootloader based now and someone needs to be a higher level android developer to edit or rewrite from scratch, the bootloader. This also prevents downgrading if youre s3 (4.3) or higher.
Overall, I just want to say, to android devs, if you got this information down, I am glad I got you a little help on why its harder to root on the verizon samsung galaxy s6 on marshmallow
Also i post it here cause i needed more post counts on the development forums, and i didn't have enough
So i will never be able to root my g920vvru3bog5 verizon s6? correct?
I pretty much cry every night wishing that there will be root method on Android Marshmallow Samsung-SM-G920V.
BUT ALAS **** VERIZON **** VERIZON **** VERIZON **** VERIZON **** VERIZON **** VERIZON **** VERIZON **** VERIZON **** VERIZON **** VERIZON **** VERIZON **** VERIZON **** VERIZON...
Also I created a profile on xdadevelopers just to find a root method for this phone.
People should start filling FCC complains. If you are out of your warranty, you should have control of your device.

OR if you purchase device out right with an unlockable bootloader that has a warning tag about voiding warranty.
So there is no root method for the S6 yet? Or only the S6 on the latest android version? If I were to buy a new S6 now does it come with 6.0.1? Or an older version?
There isn't a root method for 6.0.1. The last rootable build for the Verizon s6 is OE2 I believe. More than likely if you buy a s6 now it will already be updated to 6.0.1.

Rooted 5.0.2, want to upgrade to 6.0.1 and keep root

My Verizon S6 is currently running 5.0.2 and it's rooted on a custom rom. I really want to upgrade to 6.0.1 and have it rooted. I don't care if it trips knox as the phone is mine and I don't use the pay feature.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
I would just say stay @ 5.0.2 honestly. Very rare to find them s6's second hand with that old of firmware on it.

[CDN] SM-G920W8 - root

Hello everyone,
im fairly new to samsungs but familiar with other devices. Recently I picked up an S6, SM-G920W8 with 7.0 pre-installed.. (DQG1).. I have been trying to downgrade the firmware but it seems that it cant be done due to restrictions put in place. I already carrier unlocked the phone but that is about it.
My question would be, has anyone successfully rooted one of these without tripping the knox sensor? could someone point me in the right direction?
Thank you so much for your time

New to Samsung

Hello .New to Samsung ,Previously owned Xperia Devices.I just wanna ask these things.
1.What are those Crap,Crep?are those firmware? If so which one is better for my S8+ Dual G955FD.
2.Ive read rooting will strip away some Samsung Functionality. If so,Can i get it back if i will Unroot my S8+ whenever i want to?
3.Can I Downgrade to Nougat ?Because I want to use Xposed Modules that arent compatible yet in Oreo.
Im running 8.0 CRF7 Build Number .CRF1 Baseband .
1. samsung has a sense of humor and calls their firmware crap
2. no you'll lose it forever since knox will be tripped, no point in unrooting really, you won't get updates either so stay rooted and flash roms
3. no idea, look around the forum
