Hello guys, out of all the bugs this is the one bothering me the most.
Battery settings show WiFi as on all the time no matter how i switch it off.
I have disabled all the settings like scanning always.
I flashed the factory image yesterday (not OTA) and waited till a full charge, now today even after a full charge its still the same.
Is this a common bug or just me??
UPDATE :Tested with a clean flash of the factory image and without any apps, the result was that the issue has been solved. It could probably be some app which isnt updated to work in 5.0 yet. (Probably Viber app)

I didn't flash the image, just flashed it via multirom. I don't have that problem...If that happened to me I'd try to reflash to see if I could replicate the issue with no apps other than what comes with the image.
I just flash my ROM yesterday with the factory image too and now I'm facing the same problem.
Battery usage shows that Wi-Fi is always on even the phone is sleep.
Really want to know why... I think it really consumes the battery.
I flashed the factory image too. I have the same problem. WIFI is always on. Any idea?
I've got it, too. Clean flashed 2 times. Well, hopefully Google gets on it soon.
Same here. Clean install, no root, no tweaks.
I opened issue here https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=79326
Solution
had the same issue. what i found out was that it was not an android issue, the issue is with viber app(atleast in my case it was). to confirm it try booting to safe mode and check you battery stats. safe mode disables all 3rd party apps. if it works then reboot normally and uninstall viber.

I updated OTA and I have the same problem. Wifi always on, battery sucking. I don't have the viber app.
try booting to safe mode just to check if it was caused by any other 3rd party application

Well, turning WiFi off and rebooting "resolves" this issue too, but it's no solution at all, the "bug" is still present.

Right this could be the reason. I clean flashed the factory image once again and now its not there without any apps installed. Viber could be the reason.
And btw for those who doesnt know about "Scanning always available" feature, you have to disable "Scanning always available" option in Advanced WiFi settings to truly switch off WiFi when you disable it. Otherwise it will always be on even if the phone goes to sleep. This is an Android feature. I have shown it the pictures of the 1st post.
So regarding the OP, should install apps one by one and confirm who the culprit is.

there was no need to have clean flashed again, you could have booted in safe mode(press and hold power off option) which disables all 3rd party apps. you could have figured it there. anyways for other people with the same issue you could try this and to figure out which app causes it, reboot back to normal and try force stopping each app and check. thats what i did to figure it out. Viber was the cause of the issue for me as i mentioned earlier
I had weird problems with Moto G3 touch screen.
1. Touch screen hangs when I restart phone and immediately swipe for notifications.
2. Sometimes home buttons are not working.
3. Sometimes whole touch screen doesn't work. Lock and unlock solves issue.
4. This is really weird. When home button is not working. I press and hold for a moment. Google App starts and all 3 buttons start working.
5. Notification window automatically flashes at regular interval without swiping.
I don't understand. I tried to debug.. It seems software issue not hardware issue. Please help.
Sounds like a lag problem... memory full or runaway app... I would first do a cache wipe, then check memory usage and make sure it isn't almost full, then look at storage because I have seen phones do this when internal storage is very limited.
Thanks for reply. One more problem added

I have done factory reset twice. I always keep enough space in phone. I cleanup everyday. Memory issue can never be problem for me. I dont keep unnecessary data. Now i have observed one more problem. Notification window automatically flashes at regular interval without doing anything.

Hmm... the whole notification bar is flashing at regular intervals? This really sounds like a software issue... Are you stock?
Honestly, at this point you need to absolutely verify hardware or software... I would factory default, and skip everything in setup, do not add Google account (important!) or restore anything, except login to WiFi. Does it still do it? If so, it is probably hardware and you need to RMA it to Moto, if it is OK then it's a software issue in one of your apps.
Any screen protector or case? Sometimes they are known to do weird things on this device, especially tempered glass ones.

Thanks for quick reply. I agree with you. It's software issue. It works fine in safe mode. Actual hardware is fine. May be I can try factory reset one more time without adding google account. Okay. I will get back to you once I do reset. Thnx buddy.

Hi.. It's working smoothly without any problem. I haven't added Google account. Now what next? Should I debug which App is causing problem because I can't survive without Google account. I have to add.
Sorry I am new to website. I replied myself

Add the Google account but don't restore apps... Setup all the Google services and test, if it's OK then start adding apps a few at a time. If it starts acting up its a system settings issue, factory reset and add Google account but don't restore any services at all and continue to setup like a new device.

Hey
I am have problem with my s21+ g996u1..after frimware update i noticed that there is some app that trying to open randomly in background but then it close immediately..that happens every few minutes
There is a way to downgrade frimware?
There is a way to Recognize that app that trying
To open randomly and close?
Please helps
You can't degrade easily if at all from the factory installed version. Android 11 is a nightmare.
Start like this...
Clear system cache.
Fixed?
Try in safe mode, if this resolves it, it's likely a 3rd party app you loaded.
If it still is doing it in safe mode, it's a factory loaded or system app.
Go to Device Care>Memory, clear the apps.
Back out of it then open it again.
Expand the list and see if you can spot the app doing it as it loads. Disable that suspect app(s) to confirm if it's the culprit. A package disabler app is very nice to have when doing this.
With some persistence you will find it.
~or~
The easy way...
Go to a Samsung Experience center at Best Buy and have a Samsung tech run a diagnostic on it.
They can likely spot it.
On Battery and device care, click on bar graph in top.
Check the app issue, maybe will show your bad app.

Maybe but many apks are lumped together in Android Services. It's likely one of them or a Google app.
Problem apps don't always show under their name... that happens sometimes with the Google system apps.
Same here, S21+. After August update I've had the same issue as you, plus youtube fullscreen exiting every ~5 mins, Google Maps minimizing to window every ~5 mins, massive (2s+) freezes in games. None of this existed prior to this update. Someone messed up big time.
I installed the October update yesterday - to no avail, the issue persists.

If you mean power saving, then no, that's not the case. System cache clear didn't help either but I've just cleared the phone (factory reset), restored data with Smart Switch and looks like this helped. Gonna test it a bit more to confirm the solution.

Good. I avoid doing all firmware updates if my OS is running fast, stable and fulfilling its mission. Security is not an issue as best I can tell unless you do something stupid*.
Updates can do a lot of damage... if you like your OS, let it be.
*always backup critical data redundantly to at least 2 hhds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC.
You can use a OTG flashstick for quick "dirty" backups, but have the bulk of the backup on data hdds.
I use my SD card as a data drive on my N10+'s, then backup that card. That's why I demand a SD card slot; dual drive setups are the only way to go. The OS, apps, and the temporary download folder are the only things on the internal memory.
In crashes the data drive is usually spared. I can do a full manual restore from that data drive minus a few lost settings.
On my S21 Ultra (SM-G998B/DS) I have the same issue with "background activity" creating screen hick/refresh and switch from landscape full screen video to portrait mode.
Started after November security FW update end October.
Checked all possible settings and removing all 3rd party apps, hick-ups do persist...
'Glad' to read about this issue/bug here too, as I started to doubt myself...
Hey Guys, as the title says my S22 Ultra is restarting randomly. It seems to be worse in the mornings, but stops in the afternoon and evening. I have updated to latest OS version, have updated all of my apps.
I tried running in Safemode for a couple of hours without it restarting so I don't think its hardware.
I am not doing anything on it out of the ordinary when it happens, browsing Instagram or using it with android auto in my car and it just turns off and back on. My storage is not full 10gb available, also it feels warm around the camera, top half of the phone. Its always done that, I think they just run hot.
It is turning off and then back to the Samsung logo and back on within 45 seconds which leads me to believe its not a full crash, maybe an os crash?
Any ideas on what I can do? I think my next step is a factory reset.
Model: SM-S908B/DS One Ui 4.1 Current os: S908BXXU2AVF1 / S908BXXM2AVF1
You can clear cache in recovery mode and see if fix before you factory reset.

Okay cool I'll try that
So I tried clearing the cache last night but still have restarts this morning. Is there anything else I could try?
Go to Device care, then menu and automation. Check if you have auto restart enabled

Hey just checked and it's off. So frustrating because it's happening while I'm using Google maps to find my route.

That's a tough one then. What about the button next to the menu button on device care? Does it say anything about a restart history there?
if it doesn't restart in safe mode, one of your 3rd party apps is causing the issue.
submit an error report and get feedback when it restarts again
Samsung Members app > Get help > Send feedback > Error reports
do you have life360 app installed on your phone?
Uninstall Telegram
Just like it says. I am having a issues with some apps not saving after I set them. It happens when I shut the app down or reboot and I find that the phone is not doing what I set for the app. I open the app to check the settings and it has all been erased like new. If I keep the app open it runs all the settings correctly and saves them but as soon as I close the app or reboot it some of those apps default like it is a brand new app. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Man I hope someone can help us out with a lil insight. Thanks for the reply. I thought I might have screwed up a few things while setting up this new phone. I am on the latest build stable.
is it the permissions being cleared because its being "Paused". under the app's app info page there is a toggle Unused app settings--> Pause app activity if unused. make sure this is off.

No that doesn't appear to be that either. I checked all the apps that seem to be having this problem. Unfortunately that isn't it either. Thank you for the suggestion! IDK if a reflash without wiping would help?
I have never seen this or experienced it. Have you done "something" different? Tried to root, or install a ROM, or...???? If it keeps happening EVEN to native/default/system apps then I would recommend a factory reset with a low level cache wipe...if it can be done on this phone.

I would go for the reflash, and in the end, go for a clean flash.
I didn't experience this problem, but I did have an issue where every time I set a conversation as a priority, the second I left that screen, it reset back to default. I don't have the issue now, but I've also reflashed since then.
I have fixed it by wiping the affected apps data and then uninstalling them and readding the settings. Thanks guys!
