I tested G (2/16) and GS3 (2014 LTE model dual core /2GB RAM, CM12 5.1) video recording using a 3rd party camera app. 1080/30fps/20mbps. After 8-10 minutes of continuous video recording temperature reported by Battery HD app moto G - 131.1F, GS3 - 118.6F. Moto G felt very hot, especially the screen. GS3 felt warm.
Is the heat normal for moto phones? Is 131F normal operating temperature for the hardware? It's my first moto. Don't know what to expect. LG phones have thermal sensors, shut down, disable charging, brightness control when overheat. My Galaxy S3 never seems to suffer from overheating. G doesn't have a thermal sensor, doesn't shut down. I use 10% phone calls, 90% taking photos, videos, dashcam, streaming web audio/video.

Dear all,
I would like to hear from you about Google Now shortcut and "always listening" feature like we find on Moto X. I'm tempted about Moto X price/specs but I'm kind of disapointed about his camera and would like to know if is there a way to use those features (always listening with google now) on xperia z3.
Is there any chance to get this on xperia z3?
My Z1 listening to me a the time while screen is on.
And it's listening 24/7 at charger.
So basically, only conditions that my phone doesn't listen is when is off the charger and screen is off.

Thank you. So, as long the screen is on, you can say "OK Google" in any screen to activate Google now? It's incredible how this neat feature seems to be exclusive to Moto x (working with screen off).

Yes, while screen is on, or on charger (then its same if it is on or off).
Its exclusive because of hardware, Moto X have low power consumption third microphone, and low power consumption CPU that handle this "Always listening" while other manufactures dont have this kind of "hardware" inside of phone which would lead to heavy battery drain.
Just imagine keeping heavy snapdragon 801 always on just because of one microphone?

That's the part I don't understand, as far as I know they have the same SoC. ?

Yes, but Moto X have second CPU, dedicated just for listening onto third microphone for "ok google"..
For example.
When Moto X is sreen off, main CPU (snapdragon 801 is in deep sleep), while second one (dedicated for listening) is working.
This second one is power efficient, and dosent drain battery so much.
Examlpe for xperia.
Since xperia dosent have "second cpu" it would look like this.
When Xperia is screen off, main CPU (snapdragon 801) is not in deep sleep, because it must listen for your "ok google" command.
Which means more battery drain because 801 is not designed for things like this.
Also this "second" cpu is few mhz strong on moto x.

Hello, i had a at&t lg g (e970), and now i have a D850 that i bougt a few weeks ago, but since i bought ut i feel it a little warm, it isn't too hot but it still is a bit uncomfortable, and i want now if someone have a cpu temperature monitor, battery is cold, and can tell me how much is normal in this model, and which monitor you used.
I readed that it have temperature problem, but i only open for example a web page and it feel warm, if you can test it without any extra app running would great for me.
I used:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=temperature.mugich.com.thermo&hl=es
and only opened it i had at least 40 celsius, if i wait a minute it up 2 or 3 degrees.
i read some post, but i didn't see any value for normal temperature, i hope you can help me, thz
During normal usage my cpu temps are between 40 - 50c and it exceeds 50c when I play games. I think this is the standard for the G3.
Temperature
hello, thz for your answer mine start in 40-45 celsius, but if i open camera it go to 62, do you have same temperature with yours? or is only mine that have that temperature?. thz
My temperatures:
Normal use (facebook, instagram) ~45C
Camera ~48C
Opening a lot of apps sequentially ~55C
Randomly jumps up to 60C-65C for no reason when messing around with different apps and WiFi sync is open with LG PC Suite
Google Maps: ~62C
AnTuTu toped out at around 84C
I was wondering if my temperatures are high. Comparing to my friends Huawei P8 Lite the temperatures are about 60% higher. This is normal due to the 2x clockspeed of the 801ac vs the Kirin 620 of the Huawei.
Battery temp never exceeded 32C
Are other SD801 phones have such high temperatures? That's the question
Running Stock rom android lolipop 5.0
Hi, I am interested in how hot your device gets during various usecases.
For battery temp I use the "CPU-Z" app and for CPU/SoC I use "CPU Temperature"
I did some testing on my xz premium:
- Idle battery temp: 30°C
- Watching 4k Youtube for 20 mins: battery 43°C, CPU 72°C
- Heavy 3D Gaming: max 60°C CPU, 44-45°C battery
-4k video recording: CPU 84°C, battery 44-45°C
Even during normal use (Chrome surfing, playing with the user interface,...) the device gets warm. Battery temp is instant 39°C.
Is this normal?
Get the device more hot, if the display is on full brightness?
What are your temps?
I am also wondering the same thing, if this phone overheat like the previous Xperia did

Weird. Because my XZP doesn't get hot at all. Even if I play games continuously for 1 hour. But my device gets warm(not hot) during video calls.
Dunno what is wrong with yours, I have never seen my phone feel even remotely warm. Definitely never warmer than my old LG G5 and I've had the XZP for a month now. Only time I ever noticed it a little tiny bit warm was when I was watching 4K Netflix AND had Bluetooth AND Hotspot turned on.
Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the Moto G5 Plus stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Coming from a Nexus 6 (which had a Snapdragon 8xx or something), it's been great having the G5 Plus with it's slower-more-efficient processor. My favorite games (DomiNations) used to heat up my Nexus 6 like crazy. I never notice heat for my G5 Plus.
When on Android Auto with Spotify and Google Maps running, I get some heat on the back of my Moto
My Moto X Play got really hot once it was doing something but my Moto G5 Plus no matter what it is doing it just never get hot, it may feel slightly warmer occasionally but that's about it.
Same here one of the best things I've noticed first. The LG g5 heated up like crazy....probably what caused it's demise.

Completely normal, unless the ambient temp is 10C or something... I haven't seen temps get above 40C ever on this device, but won't be concerned until close to 50C.
Note 20 ultra become very very hot when taking pictures and video.. my phone was exynoss.. especially at camera area... everyone have same issue??

It depends on your resolution. If you do 4k-8k then it will get hot since it takes more resources on CPU and camera.
The lower resolution you take the less load on CPU and camera is needed so then it won't get has hot.
The cpu/gpu needs to work more if you are taking videos... The exynos is also a hothead... Also the sensor produces heat... My friends note 20 is a snapdragon and also warm if he takes videos (4k) but my girlfriends eyynos is a bit hotter... The sensors are also different. Do you have a case on your phone?
people say this every year on release of a new note.
yes its normal. this is why the camera times out after X minutes of inactivity because the sensor is getting hot and draining juice more than normal.
