Hi
From a long time ago (before I researched before I did anything) I unlocked my bootloader to get root right away, but I read somewhere that you could restore them without a backup now, is that true? I mean, get someones else or something like that
Thanks in advance

No, drm keys cannot be restored, do not attempt to use other people's keys, you will get a proper hard brick (bit a soft brick, a real hard brick that Cabot be recovered from). However, there are ways to restore partial functionality that relies on drm keys, but it is not 100% the same

i did, and it says it won't restore the drm keys, but now my camera is showing all the isos levels (was stucked at 800 with rooted rom) and the x-reality mode is working back, i'm able to take pictures at verry low light, so even if it don't restore the drm keys, it restore the functionnlities i've lost unlocking my bl, that's strang, i admit.

It is reversible using flashtool
However, it still will not restore TA partition so it can be seen if you have unlocked.
The only way to completely reset to factory conditions is to restore a TA backup, but the only way to get that is to root before unlocking

So to restore warranty after modding you need to wait a locked booatloder root and only after unlock and mod device ?
Correct?

I do not want to talk about warranty's.
All I am saying is that in order to restore your phone to factory settings you need a stock TA partition. To restore a stock TA partition after unlocking the bootloader you need a backup of a TA partition taken from your phone. In order to make that backup you need root.

Again, as said numerous times in this thread, if you could be bothered to read the links or a quick read of the forum you'd know.
In my opinion, if you want to "mod" a phone, get a Nexus or a HTC One M8. Sony phones going all the way back to Xperia X10 are rubbish with custom Roms and "mods"
Right now, you cannot return completely to stock.

Anyone already tried restoring DRM keys? Is there no problem with it? As z3 got root just a while ago, I'm still a bit afraid to loose all the stuff sony gives. I have successfully rooted and backed up, so the question is only about restoring them.

No can do.
Google 'restore drm functionality' or find it here in the forums. Afaik when the drm keys are gone, they're gone. But you can get almost all of the functionality back (PlayStation -play everywhere or whatever it's called isn't there yet)
I have Rooted AND Backed up. I'm talking directly about restoring them. It is working on other Z devices, but is it on ours?

I've been keeping myself pretty informed on this...But haven't flashed it yet. I'm an ex-Samsung user with experience flashing tho.
Afaik the drm keys can not yet be restored for the Z3, just functionality. Older models, yes, but not ours yet.

Are you telling me from first hand experience that it works, and the op needs to be updated to include the z3?

I have not done it, but there are reports in that thread that it does. Why not give it a shot yourself.
Root on the Z3 only came in the last few days, you need to give the OP time to update....
I had done both backing up and restoring drm keys like 5-6 times on my z3.
It worked everytime.
So, don't worry.
Hi, I'm in complete meltdown today. I didn't do thorough research and unlocked bootloader on my Z3. Now I regret it.
I heard you could restore the DRM files by mounting the TA files back onto the phone. Can someone give me their backed up TA files so that I can restore DRM features on my phone? I cried this morning because of my ignorance.
If not, can someone help me add "CWM-Based Recovery 6.0.4.7 Recovery" on my phone? I can't seem to load "Advance Stock Kernel with CWM Recovery v01 (FW: 23.0.A.2.93)" onto my phone. The program used to load it won't just make it happen.
I think I can handle the rest after that, but I need some suggestions.
Will using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672
brick my phone? It won't if I follow the steps correctly, right?
Other than that, can someone find me a PERFECT alternative for Music ID?
Is there also any way to restore "Sony Entertainment Media?"
How about fixing "Audio Quality and Volume Enhancements?"
Finally, will "PS4 Remote Play" still be broken?
I tried emailing [email protected] with the following message:
Hi, is there a way to reload lost DRM keys on a locked bootloader on
my Z3 phone?
Here's the story:
I didn't backup the TA partition on my phone and I unlocked bootloader
which made me lose the DRM files.
I'm in the process of relocking my phone. After relocking my phone,
can I send my phone to your repair center so that you guys can re-add
the DRM files?
From my understanding, you could delete the old partition and add a
new partition into my phone that has the DRM files, correct?
I hope to get a reply soon. Thanks.

I am sure someone could share it with you, but you will be a fool to restore it. The TA partition is individual. If you restore one from another phone you will permanently, 100%, completely hard brick your phone. Do not even think about doing it.

No, they will not help. It well documented that unlocking the boot loses functionality, why would they restore it for you when you admit to unlocking and throwing away your warranty? It is actuall 100% impossible to restore the keys after unlocking unless you took a backup prior to unlocking.
You can however, do a search for restoring DRM functionality, that may help you.
I think you have to try to software it by sony companion (re-instal the frimware). if you cant then try to lock your bootloader and try again to frimware it by sony companion
gregbradley, I followed all the instructions on the internet and I can't get it to install CWM recovery. Maybe later on after work (8PM EST -5 GMT) you can do teamviewer with me? Or am I being unreasonable here?
As for Music ID, please give me the alternative you prefer the most.
Sony Entertainment Media shows as "unavailable" on my phone. Basically, unlocking bootloader killed it.
As for "Audio Quality and Volume Enhancements," audio quality has been degraded because of unlocking bootloader. I was wondering if there's a software or app out there that fixes it.
As for "PS4 Remote Play", any apps out there that remotely connects to the PS4?

You cannot restore your specific DRM keys, those are gone forever, but this will restore the functionality you've lost so it's as good as having them back.

Also, if you install DroidShell_1.5 that will enter the path for you without manually doing it.

Which device do you actually have (D6603 etc)
You should now flash a FTF and exclude system (and kernel if you have just flashed a custom kernel)
How did you install CMW? was it via flashing the doomkernel? That is for D6603 only
Yes, I own D6603, the Z3, not the compact or other variants.
I'm re-installing the OS. Let's see what happens.

Is it possible to root the latest version of the sony Xperia XZ?
Heard that it could solve the overheating and weak battrey issue so guessing ima try it out
P.S my XZ doesnt have twrp or anything installed
Yes, it is possible. First of all you need to flash to MM and backup your TA partition (if DRM keys are important to you). Then flash back to N. Then unlock bootloader and flash kernel. And only then you will be able to root it.

Now the problem is
Warranty void
Catastrophic heat death
Not sure which is more worth
If you follow guide closely (most important step - BACKUP YOUR TA PARTITION!) the process is fully reversible and will not void your warranty. You just have to remember to restore DRM keys before sending phone on warranty

You must flash a stock ROM first (you lose root) and then you flash/restore the TA-backup.

Thats exactly how I bricked myZ5 once :silly:
Had to send it in for repair.
Not sure if I had been lucky, but I received it back in normal condition in two weeks after repair... without charge
Seems I'm lucky than - I've always first flashed DRM keys and do a reflash later But I did it without booting the phone
Answering the @Nidhal AKA the king question: If you reflash DRM keys you have to also reflash original firmware. That way you lose root, but you DRM keys are back in place. Phone will remain locked until you will unlock bootloader again. So yes - DRM keys will survive normal flashing once they are restored

The fact it relocks the boot implies you must have a stock kernel to boot. Actually you can restore the TA partition and then flash a stock rom as long as you don't reboot in between.
AFAIK, even if you reboot you can still flash a FTF and unbrick it. It only gives you a soft brick anyway. I have done this loads of times on previous xperias.
I've dont the part till im ready to downgrade to MM but im worried that it will hard brick my phone like the Xperia V I used before
Not sure about it tho since really just got the phone and the overheating and the standby power loss is putting me into a fuss
