So I recently purchased a Galaxy Note 3 from kijiji in Canada. Its the SM-N900W8. It was sealed when I bought it and the phone worked for a few days and is now blacklisted. I went to a samsung service center and they said that they can't do anything and my carrier Rogers said the same thing. Is there anything I could do? And is it blacklisted in only my country? Amd is there any way I could somehow change the imei or something? Is there anywhere someone can guide me?
Thanks in advance.

That's why I convince people to check the IMEI of the phone before buying. Now the only option you have is pay to unlock it and sell it internationally.
I could sell it internationally but I was wondering if the phone will be blacklisted there. Its been blacklisted with the CWTA in partnership with GSMA. So what carriers would it work with. I was thinking about selling it in Tanzania but am not sure if it will work there. Called the police and also the carrier and both said nothing can be done. Also called samsung and got the same response. Thanks for the help much appreciated. Also can I just buy a new motherboard and change it from the existing one? And where would I get this new motherboard?

There is actually one other way, but it is not cheap. This is more for the people that will follow this after Irfdiddy as his question was posted so long ago, but you can replace the mainboard in the phone with one that has a good IMEI, they can be found on ebay...if at all. Sadly, that is where Irfdiddy got ripped off...
hi,
so i have stupidly overwritten the efs files when restoring a nandroid image from one phone to another. i had a backup but somehow ended up deleting it. i have the sticker on the back with the imei however beleive i have no hope here.
What options do i have even if it means having to pay to get it repaired
thanks
Send it to LG and pay for repair.
N5 imei repair is possible with Z3X LG_2-3G_Tool if you can find phone repair shop with such equipment ...

yeh i am definately thinking this will need to happen. Hopefully it doesnt cost too much.
quick update: LG want to replace the motherboard so essentially pay for the whole phone again. Spoke to a friend with a samsung who had the same issue and he got the imei re-written for $40 by the samsung service centre. Are there any similar possibilities for LG

Different company, will do things differently.
Are you sure you didn't take a TWRP backup? Sometimes you might get lucky.

How do I register the sm-g920I in the US? I'd like to do the warrenty coverage / product registration
The US Samsung website doesn't have the 920I version.

Sorry, damn IPad auto correct. Find a vendor that will fix out of warranty and get it fixed. Another option will be get online warranty from square trade or retailer.

Recently I got a n915fy with motherboard problems. It is usable only on KitKat roms and it doesn't have IMEI number. I tried to find a solution for this but after searching the whole internet i gave up and decided to buy a new board.
Is buying a motherboard from Aliexpress a good idea?
Will it work straight away after installing it?

Did you get the motherboard? I'm in the same boat, my Note Edge died one week before the end of my contract. Now I have a S8+. But I want to fix my Note Edge and keep it as a spare. What do you think? Please let me know from what vendor you bought the motherboard from, thank you.

Yep ,I got the new motherboard. I bought it on Aliexpress from "ShenZhen DCY Electronic Technology Co.,Ltd" store. It works out of the box. No issues after 24 hours.
How much was it, and is it carrier unlocked?
Thanks, Mike.

we have all imported phones must register
IMEI is just like your personal ID. It is against the law to register IMEI from one phone to another

May I ask from which country you are and why you need to register imported phones? And why can't you register the imei from the phone you're going to get.

I'm from Azerbaijan. Previously, the registration price was affordable. Now for each imei you need to pay 40 dollars, if the price of the phone is less than 1000 dollars. And if the price of the phone is more than $ 1,000, then one imei needs to pay $ 100 for registration

It's illegal to change imei but it is possible.
I think there is nothing illegal here. I have my old, already registered htc m8 dual. I want it imei rewrite the new u12 plus

All the IMEI are unique, because that are the identification number of the smartphone in itself. This means that if you will change your IMEI, at your own risk, you could not get support for your smartphone anymore from HTC. To do this you should unlock the bootloader and S-OFF the phone and these steps are voiding the warranty as well.
So basically you will get a new phone, with no support e no identity.
