Sleep mode on windows 10 - Microsoft Surface

My surface pro 2 won't go sleep after windows 10 update. Does anyone know how to fix it?

It's a known bug, been known throughout the entire preview builds. No idea why it's still not fixed, but it seems that it's not.

I just figure it out, open the command prompt and type: powercfg –devicequery wake_armed
It should tell you the device that is waking the surface pro from sleep. Then head to device manager, find the device and right click for properties, then power management tab, uncheck the box that allows this device to wake the surface up. My HID Keyboard Device was the one causing the problem.

I am formatting sp2 right now for the same reason.. Didn't know that it was a generic problem..
So does anyone found what device is the problem?
Microsoft can't even support surface pro which it sells?..
Edit.. After reinstall win10 clean, problem resolved here..

I reply to myself.. After clean install win10 the no sleep problem was resolved BUT after installing just a few normal apps it suddenly happened again. So i searched more.. I found a solution.
Go to device manager , mice and other pointing devices-hid-compliant mouse, right click it, properties, power management, and uncheck allow this device to wake computer.
Do the same for: keyboard.
If i change it only to one of those, i still had the problem, so both of them awake my sp2.
With this to my sp2 everything works fine but if yours doesn't, try do the same to network adapter for wifi. Also some had disable microphone ..
I believe those 2 i changed are the cause of the problem for most users, as the drivers are faulty in win10 at least for now..
Good luck..

Hello I have solved the problem this way:
1) Go to Control Panel> Device Manager> Keyboards> Right button on "HID keyboard"> Properties> Energy Saver> lever to check the "Allow this device to wake the computer."
2) Go to Control Panel> Device Manager> Keyboards> Right button on "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device"> Properties> Energy Saver> lever to check the "Allow this device to wake the computer."
3) Go to Control Panel> Device Manager> Mice and other pointing devices> Right button on "HID-compliant mouse"> Properties> Energy Saver> lever to check the "Allow this device to wake the computer." Do this for both items!
4) Go to Control Panel> Power Options> Change plan settings> Change advanced power settings> Go to the heading "Suspension"> Go to the item "Allow hybrid sleep"> Battery supply select "Disable"> Plugged select "Disable"> Go to the item "Allow wake timers"> Battery supply select "Disable"> Plugged select "Disable". Perform these steps for the three combinations "Energy Saving", "Balanced", "High Performance".
REMEMBER EVERY TIME YOU MAKE A PASS CLICK "APPLY" and "OK", ONCE FINISHED ALL STEPS STOP THE SYSTEM and on again. NOW THE SUSPENSION WORKS PERFECTLY.

Windows mobile Close TOMTOM Automatically

Hello,
I have an HTC Touch Cruise with windows mobile 6.1. I use it on my motorcycle with TOMTOM NAVIGATOR, and earphones. I config TOMTOM, push the today screen and lock my phone. It works perfect for 10 min.
After the 10 min, windows mobile displays a message:
"TOMTOM NAVIGATOR is still running an using the battery would you like to close NAVIGATOR", you must aswer the question with YES or NO.
If you do not answer the question, windows mobile close the NAVIGATION software. > very irritating....
Is there an solution to disable this battery saving function, so the NAVIGATION software must never stop automatically...
Thanks
I think you should go check out the Power configuration. it seems to be that after 10min the phone goes in standby mode.

Yes just power off and wait.
no solution
No that not the problem, i hav already tried. Look also at the picture
well, then it's caused by the software it self. did you go through the setting of tomtom? i'm sure you can disable it. but how do you use it when you go to the today screen?only with the headphones?

ah, now I understands this. so you minimize tomtom window!
I was so shure something is stealing focus from it but you've been doing it yourself
well then solution is easy, tomtom has to be on top. There is no option to disable this popup feature.
You need a diferent screen screen locker, you can't minimize TT (going to today screen)
try the one I am posting here, map it to a button (long press green)
this is from PHM tools, quite old, it will blank screen (no input possible)
to unblock you need to press 'action' button.
If this won't work, I am quite sure another will. search forum for one,
eventually you can set up autolock, but that's not too practical, you wound need to wait for it to lock screen before driving.
OR by doing this script:
- you run TT
- start the script and it would:
1. press start
2. press left softkey
3. return focus to TT
try all above options first, if nothing I can write you this script.

[Q] How to make Explorer work on Win CE 6 RNS?

Hi,
i use a RNS named Blaupunkt New York 800. It´s running Windows CE 6. When i access the windows through a startscript i can´t run the Explorer.exe.
Also when i try to run any software where i have to set a directory there only shows up a white frame with nothing in it. No folders or files are shown.
Is there a chance to make the existing explorer.exe work?

If you tell me how you are able to "access windows through a script" I may be able to help you as I have a different brand that runs the same code as your system (your system is a re-branded advuv630). If you tell me how you are accessing it I can get it to work for you. I have a decrypted firmware for that system and its almost exactly the same as the advuv630. So I can probly use the same method you are using to access and get something working for you.
--thesh0ck
Edit: Its General and DVD-Rating on the advuv630, not general and bluetooth as I stated below. So try that first.
Go to settings menu, hit the following butons alterativly 6x (twelve total presses) General -> Blueooth -> General -> Bluetooth etc...
This will take to to the system menu.... where you can disable the requirement to have the parking brake on to watch movies and other things, I wouldnt change much other than that here.
This is what you want though:
You can also press time and volume in the same sequence and you will get right into the wince start menu screen with no hacks required. Its built into the unit.
If time and volume dont work, try all of the combinations (it will only take a few mins to try them all), one will work. Select two of the top row settings buttons and go back and forth hitting them 6x each till you find it.
Hope this helps. I just foind these two hidden options the other day....
Hi there, ho to disable the requirement to have the parking brake on to watch movies??? Is it on "brake override" menu?

Surface Pro Sleep?

Hi guys,
I had a quick question. On my surface pro, I've set the power button to put the device to sleep both on battery and on the power adaptor. But after a few minutes after pressing the button, it seems to turn off. Because when I press the power button, it shows the Surface logo again and boots fresh. Does anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?
Second minor question. Can you scroll with the Wacom pen?
It does a full boot, not a hibernate restore? That would be odd. Check the event log for more info on what it's doing after you press the button.
As general advice, check your hibernate settings (is it enabled, when does it trigger, etc.)
Yea, well I'm not sure if it's a hibernate restore, but it does show the surface logo. And I checked the settings for power plan, and it says like, what to do with power button and I have itbset to sleep in all cases...not even hibernate.
also, how can I check the event logs and what should I look for
Showing the Surface logo just means that the system was in a powered-off state (hibernate counts). The easy (and obvious) way to tell if it's hibernate or full shutdown is whether your programs are still running when it comes up. Open a file in Notepad on the desktop or something...
To check Windows event logs
Right-click the Start button and choose Event Viewer (this is new in Win8, and handy).
Or, open the Start menu and type "event" (this has existed since Vista; still works on 8 for some things you need to select "Settings" on the right now, which is my biggest gripe with 8).
... do people still not know how to find things on Windows? The mind boggles.
Anyhow, check under Windows Logs -> System log for text like "sleep" or "hibernate" (you can use Ctrl+F to search). It may help to set a filter (option is on the right) of Event source: Kernel-Power, Power, and Power-Troubleshooter. Start at the top of the log (ensure it's sorted so this is most recent; it should be) and look for any indication of what happened.
Hey thanks! So looks like it is going in to hibernate, I checked that my apps were still open. so the question is, why hibernate and why not sleep? any other suggestions on how to troubleshoot this further?
Hibernate draws no power at all (literally, on devices with removable batteries, you can hibernate them and then remove power and battery and leave it on the shelf for a year, and it will resume where it left off when plugged in again). Sleep mode draws some power still; the RAM needs to be continually refreshed, and some system components will run in a low-power state to monitor for things like network wake-up messages.
You can use the Power Options in Windows (on the Desktop, right-click the battery icon, select Power Options, then chose "Change plan settings" for your selected power plan) to control the automatic hibernation behavior. It should be possible to turn it off, or at least set it to a long time. If you want to disable hibernation entirely, that can also be done but you'll need to use the command line. Open up an administrator command prompt (this can also be done from the Start button context menu) and type the following command:
powercfg -H off
Note that this will also free up some "disk" space on C: because hibernate works by writing the RAM out to disk. However, it will also mean that if the battery runs critical, the tablet will have no option but to shut down (currently, it will enter hibernate so you can pick up where you left off when you get to power).

Google 2FA Recovery, black Screen. I can unlock S6 with keyboard. How activate ADB?

Hello,
I have a Samsung S6 with android 7.0 running on it. (latest stock firmware) The screen got cracked this week and the digitizer and OLED are not working anymore.
I've got some 2 FA keys in google authenticator that i did not backup. Now i know that i have to keep the QR code safely... but that is too late in this case. I don't want to buy a new screen...
I did manage to get a full backup of my phone by attaching a keyboard with an OTG cable. but this will not recover the 2FA keys in Google Authenticator.
How you can unlock your phone with a keyboard:
1. attach a keyboard with an OTG cable.
2. press the 'esc' button' and 'backspace' button
3. insert your password and press enter. You should hear the unlock sound. (you can unlock with the fingerpint from now on, if it was set)
I did activate developer options before but i disabled it when i'm not using it. So i have to activate it again.
I think i can enable Developer mode blindly by following these steps. The phone needs to be unlocked.
1. typ one letter. This will bring up google search. press backspace and delete (just to be sure it is blank). Now type 'Settings'
2. Press the down key once
3. Press enter
4. press the down key for 10 seconds (this should focus the item on the last option in the list, which is 'developer mode' )
5. press enter
6. press up once
7. press right once
8. enter
developer options should now be enabled.not sure how i can check this tho. I checked if my computer can find my phone. I can access the internal memory because the phone is unlocked.
i asume developer options is enabled... The next step is re-activating debugging mode in order to mirror the screen. But 'adb devices' does not show any device yet. This means 'debugging mode' is still deactivated.
So i'm trying to enable 'Debugging mode' within the 'developer options'.
I searched on youtube to see how the menu looks like in Android 7 on a S6 so i can figure out how many keys i need to press in order to re-activate USB debugging. But i seem to be stuck on this step.
My question: can somebody make screenshots or a video from a samsung S6 (with android 7.0) device with a keyboard attached that shows how many key presses are needed to activate USB debugging?
When i'm in the developer options menu i think i have to press 9 times down, hit enter, then press the right key once and then hit enter again.
Can someone confirm that this is correct?
The RSA keys for my pc were already accepted previously. so that should not be an issue. unless i hit the 'revoke keys' options by accident... (i hope not!)
if anyone knows an other way to activate USB debugging without erasing the whole phone, please tell me. I need access to my 2FA keys. :crying:
edit:
i'm not sure if the steps to enable Developer mode are working. I'm reproducing the steps on an old S5 phone. I now realize that there are internet suggestions when typing "Settings' on the S5 model. I need to press 4x down then enter. hmmm... These suggestions only pops up when wifi is enabled. I can ping my S6 phone. So WiFi is enabled on my broken s6.
---
It would be awesome if someone can record a video that shows me (and potentially others) how to install and run 'SideSync' through keystrokes. on an S6 with android 7.0. SideSync can then mirror and control the screen on a pc..
I'm going to try this blindly for now... fingers crossed
edit2: it seems that SideSync needs a code that is shown on the S6 screen. damn it. Searching for other solutions...
Kind Regards,
Vincent

Cannot get out of the Sleep Mode

Hi,
I have installed Bliss ROM 11.10 on my Dell Latitude 7285 computer. I've found out that the most stable version is the Vulkan support for me.
But unfortunately the Sleep Mode does not work properly. When I push the ON/OFF-Button sometimes the screen switches off and sometimes a taskbar with "Restart"-, "Switch-Off"-, "Sleep Mode"-, etc. buttons shows up. But if I go to the Sleep Mode I cannot get the device out of the sleep mode. Neither by pushing the ON/OFF-Button or any key on the keyboard. It does not react.
How can I get the device into and out of the sleep mode reliably?
Thanks for your help!
I am using the following device and OS:
- Dell Latitude 7285
- Bliss-OS 11.11 - Vulkan support
- Build-Number: android_x86_64_userdebug 9 PQ2A.190405.003 eng-electr.20200314.155225 test-keys
I have the same problem, I use Bliss-OS 12.5 with Vulkan support on an ASUS VivoTab Note 8 (M80TA) tablet PC.
Build: Bliss-OS-Yantra-v12.5-android_x86_64-OFFICIAL-202003271858_k-k4.19.110-ax86-ga-rmi_m-19.3.4-ax86-q_ld-2.4.100-ax86-ma_dg-_dh-_mg-_gms_cros-wv
I have also tried with other builds and I always have the same problem.

I also use the same build as you now (Bliss-OS-Yantra-v12.5-android_x86_64) and it works better with the sleep mode. You can assign the sleep mode function to the volume buttons in the settings and then it works quite well.

You'll need patience tho, enter the blissify settings and search for "wake" then select "Don't wake for notifications" and untick "don't turn on screen" and "don't wake for notifications" that should solve it... But you'll wait at least 5 secs after pressing the power Button or whatever b4 the screen comes on.
