How do you know it is Viber?
For starters: Cyanogenmod reports your activities to Google and themselves. So, I would go for Slimroms, Paranoid Android or Omni, as they don't have Google Analytics. Second, you need to have Afwall with inbuilt iptables binaries enabled. Not only it will stop all such activities, but also log them showing which app/service/module attempted to connect and where. You might want to block Viber for a while and see if attempts were made to connect. And lastly, use Adaway, which allows you to manually block IPs you don't want.
Generally, Viber, as well as a bunch of other "free" apps are cesspools of malware and spyware. How else would they monetize their users?

WiFive
Wi-Fi chat
Let the social be with you.
Launch WiFive application and immediately start chatting with whose who is using it too within your Wi-Fi network. No Internet needed. Also, there is no need to set up a server. Simple, eh?
But of cause there are some conditions.
In order to receive messages your device should not ignore broadcast UPD packets (as long as I know some devices are doing it, for example HTC)
Your Wi-Fi network should not block UPD packets (as long as I know some network managers are doing it). But it's OK if you are creating Wi-Fi Spot yourself. Google it, it's pretty straightforward.
Also, be aware of some possible message loss.
Have fun with unlimited communication!
Application is also available in Google Play.

I believe you can't make that open source..?
Hi your application is exactly what I need. I want to built a rover controlled by an arduino that is connected via usb to the first android phone. With the second one I want to send the control data (speed, direction). I've already implemented the control of the arduino and i can stream the video to my controller application. Your application would be the perfect way for exchanging the control variables between my phones.
If you could post the source code it would really help me a lot!
I couldn´t find a mention of this app anywhere else on XDA so I decided to put this up here ( hopefully in the correct category ):fingers-crossed:
I found a great alternative to Bluestacks after getting fed up with the endless crap that bluestacks kept installing on my machine.
I take no credit for this product, just thought I´d share...........

Hi All,
I'd like to present to you my new app. It's a message crytping app, which you can use to encrytp/decrypt all kinds of text communication you use (text messages, emails, messengers, private notes and whatever else you want). Safety was my biggest goal, while creating this app and I think I succeded. The app is using unique crypting algorithm, based on the characters from the password you enter. Each password will generate different crypting algorithm. The password is not limited and you can use as many passwords, as you like to encrypt one message. This solution creates infinite number of crypting possibilities and makes the crypted message quite impossible to decrypt. Please feel free to comment.

Hi,
Yes both persons (encrypting and decrypting) need to have the app installed.
Hi, i have another question;
Is the application storing messages or passwords somewhere (on server or locally on device)? If yes, for how long?

Hi,
No, the application doesn't store any data. No servers are in use, it can work completely offline.
I got a Moto G phone running Oreo. I have a firewall installed, and its logs show an app with the name "System" trying to connect to various AWS hosted addresses. The phone is not rooted. I am trying to find out which process this System actually is, and what is its purpose. I am trying to somehow capture some traffic and find something.
If anyone knows what exactly this is and whether I should be worried or not, please let me know.

I found some more information using logcat:
[ 10-19 17:12:33.467 1229: 1309 E/LocSvc_xtra2 ]
connect:204] connect to 54.230.93.211 failed
This is one of the IPs that System process is trying to connect. Some googling tells that this is Location Service being used probably. I have GPS turned off completely when I don't need it. I have also given access to GPS only to OpenMaps application which isn't running at the moment. All google apps are in disabled state.
I also noticed that these connection attempts happen every 5-6 minutes.
I cannot use strace as don't have root. I am trying to route the traffic from the phone through my PC to be able to capture network traffic.
Hi people,
I want to make my Samsung s10e phone with Lineage 19 completely clean without any unwanted network communications, but...
... when I start network communication monitoring using "PCAPdroid" app I get GPS (system app) pings to some servers, watch the screenshot below:
{

}
Everything other is quite clean but this GPS pinging makes me crazy. I have Location service disabled in settings but it still works somehow. Those GPS pings happen right away after I start monitoring and if I remember correctly they repeat a few times a day.
Can anyone explain me why does it happen and how can I disable that GPS completely? I don't plan to use GPS in nearest future.
Maybe those pings don't associate with the Lineage but with the pcap app I am using? I'll appreciate any hints.
P.S. I have kind of basic gapps installed as well but they are completely disabled in app settings.
after doing some research I found that those requests belong to A-GPS system and those are requests to SUPL servers. after digging even more I found associated settings inside my Android system.
I found gps configuration files at following locations:
system/vendor/etc/gnss/gps.xml
/vendor/etc/gnss/gps.xml
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
I found following fields in the xml file:
SuplEnable="true"
LbsEnable="true"
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
as well as SUPL addresses exactly those which appear when I listen network communication using a pcap app.
However both of xml files are unwritable so I can't edit them. So I'd like to ask:
how do I edit those gps.xml config files correctly?
