clearing cache wont do anything. clear the play store app data, then reboot. root has nothing to do with the playstore. all root does is give you superuser permission to access/change files files in your phone. hows your data connection? are you on wifi? if you are on wifi, try it while on mobile data.
I'm having the same issue. I just unlocked the bootloader (but haven't rooted yet) which required a data wipe. Everything booted back up fine but now I have a bunch of preloaded apps that need updates but Google Play won't update them. They just act like they're downloading for a second and then one by one fail and go back to the list of apps that need updating.
Also, I just checked and I can't download new apps either. It says for example: "Angry Birds" could not be downloaded due to an error (920)
Surely this can't be due to unlocking the bootloader. I've flashed tons of ROMs to my old Galaxy Nexus and never run into anything like this. Maybe Google is having issues on their end at the moment?
Seems to be working now. I cleared the data/cache on Google Play and Download Manager... didn't work. Rebooted about 5 times... didn't work. Factory Reset... didn't work. Repeated all of the above... didn't work. But I just clicked "update" for the 50th time and it's actually working now out of the blue

[Q] Error RPC:S-7:AEC-7

Has anyone ever gotten this error RPC:S-7:AEC-7 while trying to download apps in the Play Store and fixed it? I have tried everything, wiping cache, factory reset, install different GAPS, create a new google account. But NOTHING is working for me. Someone please tell me you have fixed this before!
Thanks,
Caleb
EDIT: FIXED
-Go to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->All
-Select "Clear Data" for Google Play Services and Google Service Framework
-Reboot the device
That should be it, it is working fine for me now.
I did it without unlinking my google account and it went well.
Thanks
I got this after doing a dalvik cache clear. Same in a few google accounts. Uninstalled updates to google play store and restarted phone and it was fine.

Thanks bro. It worked well for me too - CM12 / LLP
Halp! I can't erase the account. There's no "Remove/delete" account. I even flashed it and NOTHING.
Thanks, it works!
OP, you might want to edit your fix/solution. I don't think the step instructing you to remove and restore your google account is necessary.

Agreed. I also did it without unlinking google. Just clear data on both applications and restarted.
I have been getting this error for days now. Before this I would get the "this method of payment had been declined" for my google play credits for several months Jo matter what app I wanted to buy. Now with the error retrieving info from server I'm starting to get really pissed off.
I've tried it on different Roms, different phones, uninstalled updates to play store, cleared data on it and play services. It doesn't work no matter what I try. I want to be able to purchase apps, I've missed sales on apps because I get some stupid error. I'm at wits end please help me find a solution. I
Thanks. Works perfectly.
Hello.
I have just clear data from Google Play Store, and nothing else, and worked fine for me.
Hope this helps.
I've got Xperia Z with Android 4.4.4 rooted phone
And thanks to everyone who shares knowdlege.
Thanks Djulen, Works for me, just clear data from Google Play Store and reboot. All Works fine in a Moto G
I have recompressed Play Store and Play Services for smaller size and disabled some Play services and getting this error. Curious what exactly causing this. On Lollipop it worked fine.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
You save my life, this error occurs when I wipe and factory reset my android 4.1 rooted with king user root (a chiness root for a chiness smartphone xD), so I follow your instructions and it´s working again. Sorry for my bad english

I had this same problem. It works for me too. Thanks very much
Ty, sir, worked for me.
That worked for me too. Thank you.
So far it hasn't worked for me on a Kindle Fire 1.
Hi I have the same problem and wanted to try this but Google play servises is not installed. I have tried factory reset, it does not work. I downloaded the correct version of play services but it just give me an error when I try to install it manually.
Can someone please help me?
pls delete this answer

google play services has stopped unexpectedly

I keep getting this annoying message. It randomly appears but when it does, it shows up 3 times simultaneously. Making my phone lag so much. I am not able to clear the data of play services, buttons are disabled. Anyone have any ideas other than factory reset? I'm on stock rooted rom.
@dje20 Try to be a root user, then unistall Google Play Services with the Rom Toolbox Lite, and then download again the Google Play Services if everithing is correct, you can clear data, etc

Hi, thank you for replying, I think I did mention that i am a root user.
I have already tried clearing the data of play services using titanium backup but the problem still persists. Though I am wondering if uninstalling the app is any different from clearing it's data. I will try it soon. What I really want to know is what is causing this issue, if anyone could explain to me, that would be great. And also I forgot to mention that this problem most of the time shows up when I open large applications i.e. COC.
@dje20 Flash again vía ODIN the firmware, couse some app maybe it's cousing the problem, so try to re flash the stock ROM, and install all your apps agin, and if the FC still showing up, it's some app problem

Try wiping app data of your Download manager.
thanx for your reply
i tried too, in vain
it seems to be a permissions problem
so i go back to an official 6.0.1 image
thread closed for me

I flashed CM13 a few times and I never had an issue with downloads. There's something wrong with your setup.
