Hello, Was looking for my phone for couple hours today forgot where i placed it. Guess my Son put it in his Bath toy bin and when i found it it was drenched. When i seen it i thought the worst of it the notification light was tweaking out and changing colors from blue to green. So i thought i would try turning on the screen and was completely black. took out the battery wiped out the water and turned it back on i see the green line show up on boot, then booted to the recovery mode and said could not be booted heard a sizzling and popping sound quickly removed the battery, thought my Motherboard was fried then. Put it in rice but i am a busy person i have clients that call me hourly. so i decided to open it. Grabbed my wife's high powered blow dryer and 90% rubbing alcohol and some cotton balls. Took out the main components and dried them completely, seen some corrosion on the boards maybe from previous damages? cleaned it up the best i could with the alcohol and re-dried the boards. and put it all back together and hoped for the best. I was joyed that the fact it booted completely to unlock. but i noticed a faint but annoying green line on the left side of the LCD from top to bottom same as when i noticed when i was at the recovery menu. i tapped on the side it got real thin almost unnoticeable but i'm OCD on perfection. and still find it very annoying upon concentration. Got me thinking, is it the motherboard or the LCD controlled that might be fried or damaged some how. if its the LCD thats a $200 replacement and i can live with that, but motherboard i haven't found a replacement online yet to know prices at that point i wouldn't want to shell out $800 on a new device. Anyone have any suggestions?

When you say a green line, are we talking like a single pixel width green line all the way down the phone?
If you take a screen shot does the picture show the green line? If no you probably have a damaged LCD screen and they don't correct themselves over time.

Long time lurker here... I got the dreaded "rainbow" rectangle on my screen that meant that the digitizer stopped working. I was pretty sad to say the least. I called Verizon and they wanted $95 to send me a new one with the silly insurance plan. I scouted google and saw that many other have had this issue.
So, I broke down and bought the replacement digitizer on eBay. Well tonight, as I looked at my broken phone, I thought that since I was going to be eventually replacing the digitizer, it couldn't hurt to try to mess with it a little. I noticed that the rectangle appears as a thin film between the top and bottom layers of the digitizer. This thin film is what causes the rainbow effect, just like a thin film of oil on top of water.
What got me thinking was that I had just set the screen to beep when tapped, and every time I turned it on it tapped once. This meant that the screen was actually being pressed continually. So, I thought that I'd try to pull the screen away from the bottom a little. I finally got some duct tape (of the clear variety), and carefully laid it over the entire screen. Then, I pulled off at a pretty shallow angle so it would pull on the top layer pretty good.
Well, lo and behold, the screen started working again! And there isn't a hint of rainbow/oilness at all. And it is totally responsive, as before.
So, if you are in the same boat, try some duct tape or similar.

That's pretty good news I suppose, at least one possible DIY solution has been discovered. Kinda puts my mind at ease thinking that one day my phone might not be responsive to touch. I'll have to keep this in mind if that day ever comes. It does make sense though.
Be careful doing this. It fixed my spot, but now the LCD only displays 2 white lines.
Hey, I have broken my digitiser (The phone obviously didn't like me, and tried to commit suicide or run away from my pocket, and felt on the asphalt) and replaced it with a new one, i had the tools and some experience so it was not difficult, but after replacing it, i noticed that when u "wake up" the phone u need to rub the screen for about 4 seconds, only then the screen starts to "respond" to your finger. Then i went outside with the phone - (i live in Northern Norway so it's -10 celcius ATM) and got this splat, as if an air or condensation, i tried to blow it off with the FAN ,and left it near the radiator for a whole night. But the Splash did not get smaller, if i remove the battery cover, and the battery itself, and if i twist, try to bend the phone, the "splat" Moves and gets smaller, if i try to press hard on the screen, the splat gets bigger. Do you think it's my mistake that i did something wrong in the process of replacement, or is it just the layer of glue, that's not dried up yet.

The unresponsive screen is a really common thing with a new digitizer. There is a thread somewhere in "general" thats deals with that issue. But for the splat, it seems that the cold seperated the layers of the replacement digitizer wich i guess is a cheap copy of the stock one and couldnt handle the cold.
To make a long story short, my wife dropped her Samsung Galaxy S3 i535 phone a couple weeks ago and shattered the front glass. I ordered the replacement glass on eBay and proceeded to get it installed this past week.
One of the things I noticed was that none of the repair videos adequately documented how to route and attach the button for the home keys at the bottom of the screen. I was finally able to get the old home button ribbon cable detached from the phone and pulled free from its location. I noticed that there was still quite a bit of adhesive left on the resting location for the home key pc board (located a few mm in front of the ribbon cable that connects to the lcd assembly.)
I made the mistake of thinking that the adhesive consisted of some form of double sided tape, so using a small blade and a pair of forceps I began removing the adhesive. Turns out, the adhesive was attached to a felt-like material that was covering the back of the LCD. Once removed, I noticed that the section of the screen from which the felt had been removed was slightly discolored.
I proceeded to reassemble the phone with the new glass, and it is working correctly, with one exception:
The entire screen (not just the area where the felt was removed) appears to have a greenish tint to it. This is most notable when booting the phone. The SAMSUNG logo appears as almost a neon green (My wife assures me this should be white) and the booting animation is mostly green (She assures me it was multicolored)
A couple of questions here:
Did the piece of material I removed from the back of the LCD cause this problem, or should I be looking at something else for a solution?
Is there any chance this felt-like material contained the backlighting for the LCD Screen?
If not, could just a small section of missing felt allow enough light to escape to discolor the entire screen?
Also, since I obviously can't replace the felt, would coating the expose area with some form of paint or something work to restore the proper coloring to the phone?
I am currently looking at other replacement lcd assemblies which, from what I can tell, simply involve moving the motherboard from the old phone into the new assembly, connecting it, then putting the back cover onto the phone. If I can afford spending the $100-150 that these cost, I would like to avoid it. If this is my only suitable solution at this time, I would like a definitive answer so that I can make the purchase and get her phone back to working order.

Pictures would be nice. However your back light shouldn't discolor your screen. My guess is you loosed a cable or something else causing the screen to discolor.

I will get pictures posted this afternoon. After taking a little more time to look at it earlier today, it appears that Green and Blue colors are working, I just haven't got any red.
Do you know where to find a diagram of what ribbon connectors control what aspect of the phone?

that will give you an idea of the connector for the screen. you say all you did was replace the glass? not the whole screen? I cant imagine how this would happen unless you damaged the ribbon cable when removing the glass.
unless you want to remove the glass again you'll have to take it apart from the rear, which isn't too hard really. take the back cover off, then remove all the little screws you see. that piece of plastic will come off and this is what you'll get: http://imgur.com/WwoOgMP
the red box is the connector, make sure it's seated. i'm not sure you can get all the way to the digitizer panel from the rear, but this is simple enough it's worth trying before removing the glass again.
also there are plenty of youtube videos on how to teardown the sgs3.
on a side note, task killers are bad for your phone.... use Greenify instead, or nothing at all.

If this ribbon cable that connects to the LCD was damaged, it might be your problem.
In that case, you will need another LCD.
It's best to buy the LCD and Glass as one piece.
About $120 or more.

Problem :
Problem is with the flex ribbon cable that attaches to the screen. I had the pink line and had smashed my screen, so I ordered a new one and replaced it.
Cause:
The high heat of our device melts the glue that attaches the ribbon. I learned that because after speed testing kernels on the device with the new screen, the line eventually reappeared.
Solution:
Heat can also fix the problem, if it hasn't gotten too bad. If you can find the pressure or position where the pink line goes away, use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the area at the top right of the screen, usually at the selfie camera. Heat from above so you're heating the screen and the top of the device. Once it's hot, but not too hot (yes frustrating but only do this as a last resort before buying a replacement screen), then allow to cool naturally back to room temp. If the line was absent the whole time heating and cooling, there's a chance you've fixed it.
DANGEROUS LAST RESORT:
THIS IS 90% CERTAIN TO CRACK YOUR SCREEN! Now, if this didn't work, and you're Very adventurous, you can search Google for s7 edge ifixit, and see how you can CAREFULLY heat the glue around the whole screen. Don't remove the screen, as it WILL break! But perhaps you can get a pick or card into the top just enough to see the flex ribbon, use same pick or card to lightly press the ribbon as you heat and cool as per above instructions.

Someone tested it ? Some video tutorial could be really helpfully to repair this. What temperature should i go ? I think the best option will be to use a hot air soldering station but i need more info.

Hello.
I work allot with prints directly. Scripting flashing repairing and debug in field. So I can asure you on a fact this will work.
The only part I'm questioning is the fact if they did use glue for a flat cable. Since logic wise for differemt prints ypu use a lock way cheaper and easier to replace parts.
If they dis use glue this fix will only be a temporary one. Since the glue will spread more and more. Each time you will do it this way.
So like I said. What the best man said is true. It will work. Only if it is glue. It might be possible it will only work for like 3 months or so. Depends on the ammount of glue and connector type they use. Can't say anything about that part. Only reason I reply because no one else did since u asked this question.
Yesterday was a really hot day (well for England) and part way through, I noticed a very thin pink line appear. The phone was hot but not entirely my fault.
Anyway, it disappeared a few minutes later and hasn't returned. Slightly worrying though.
Back today. Pressing hard on the top right actually makes it thicker. Gone again as I type this message.
Is it covered by warranty?

Ill go with the first guys suggestion. As i ve done this before with many electrical products. I will not go sticking objects into my waterproof phone.

I had this issue repaired under warranty. What surprised me from the beginning of owning this phone was just how hot it would get when the screen was on, firmware updates and so on. Sometimes almost too hot to touch. Since the repair it only ever gets mildly warm. I didn't get a repair sheet when the phone came back but I wonder if it was just the screen that was replaced or whether the screens have been redesigned?

it is not because of heat, i used mine for 2 years, during the summer (40c) with heavy use, and i have no pink line. it's just a manufacturing defect.
I picked up a used s7 edge with a cracked back glass. It is now showing this pink line issue. I started to notice it after it had been in my front pocket. I know it did not get hot in there ( sure would have noticed it there ), but it was definitely put under pressure when I would sit. Most of the time the line would go away by turning the screen on and off a few times and would stay gone until I carried it in my pocket again. The other day it came up and would not go away. I finally downloaded LCD-Test and swiped through the RGB screens a couple times and it went away and hasn't returned. On doing some experimentation I found that by pressing near the front camera I could create the issue but it would go away when removing the pressure. Confirming that it is indeed a physical issue that seems to latch on if pressure is applied for enough time. I have a new back glass coming and am wondering if the heat I will apply in removing the glass will help with this issue. " Will post result when completed " I am also looking in to a case that will take the stress off the top corner of the phone when it is in my pocket. Any Ideas ?
Pink Line Issue
Hi everyone, I have a question about pink like issue on S7 edge.
I've been living with the pink line since early this year, recently the line is getting too thick I couldn't bear with it anymore, so I decided to get it changed.
The question is, I've read threads that says the pink line appears are because of design flaw. So if I replaced the screen (which costs a bomb) will that appear again after a year of use?
Side note, my pink link appears about a year after I bought this.
Any owner who suffer also from pink line issue, are you still facing same issue after screen is replaced?

Here's a new observance of the pink line issue. After a day with no problems hanging around the house. Yesterday morning I went out into below freezing temps. Pink line came up almost immediately. ( Something in top of phone changing due to temp ? ) Upon getting home got it to reset and left it inside the rest of yesterday and all of today. ( No pink line ) interesting.

Once again today, have stayed inside and no pink line.
1. Try the flashing colour solutions
2. Try some pressure at Samsung logo
3. Try to get warranty fix by Samsung if your phone isn't damaged

Thank you man, I replaced the screen and after a fex months the line appeared, it dissapeared whan I pressed or lifted the screen a bit so, for me, was easy to lift it a it than heating and glueing because that part off the screen didnt have glue.

Anyone get a spot like this on their screen? It's not a daily and a few days ago when I turned it on that spot was there. It's not the screen protector as I peeled it back and it's still there. Any ideas?

My screen is fine, but it looks like your LCD is degrading or something is behind the LCD like glue.
Did you drop it? I dropped mine with no case out of my shallow pocket getting out of my van. The drop was ~ 4' direct hit on the corner of the cement curb, point of contact being right above the power button on the titanium lining. A few scratches on the titanium/plastic lining at the point of contact, but the tank phone shrugged it off like it was nothing. At least I thought so as I put it back in my pocket, whilst subsiding the shock of dropping my baby in such a brutal way. Later on I took my phone out to check my bank account and the bright white background revealed a not so pretty bruise on the LCD looking alot like this but next to the power button area. My heart sank, I thought to myself, this is it. It will never be the same. That was a few months ago, it wasn't noticeable on any background not white, so I learned to live with it. Trying not to remember it every time I used my phone. Sometime in the last month or so, I looked for it again. Checking for it on white backgrounds, and amazingly, yes. It actually healed itself somehow. Praise the Lord!! I am so lucky, it only briefly returns if I put significant pressure on the point where it lived. I can see swirls of light where it seems something beneath the LCD is providing counter-pressure on a small point when pressed. My points being:A-If you dropped it, there's why it happened and B- if so, there is hope of self healing. Sorry for the essay, it's the first time I've told this story so there's no short version yet. Lol

It fell from much less than 4'(exiting a vehicle) and that was months ago in June. It was fine and it just got there a couple days before I posted
