My Xperia Z3's back cover has been cracked - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've given the phone to my Niece to take some photo and video. When she gave me the phone back, I found it cracked at the back. Not sure how it was cracked. I might be due to excessive heat dissipated while the screen stays on for few minutes. What do you think about it? How I can repair it?

Isn't that tempered glass over your Z3?

You will need this part:
http://www.witrigs.com/custom-back-cover-for-sony-xperia-z3-green
I just replaced the front and back of mine as it cracked on my wife accidentally doing something with the kids.
You will need to transfer your stock NFC sticker/chip to the new cover before installation. This company ships quick and is very reliable. If you do not have the suction cup and guitar pics I recommend it, you will need it for installation. As well as a heat gun or hair dryer.
You can see a how to video towards the bottom of the page I linked.
Good luck.

No, there was no tempered glass in the back. Tempered glass protector is in the front side.

Though I don't know how well it would work, but I would think would need to put the SP first and then the front skin. But I see a problem, if its a dry SP, then it won't go all over the edge. That might cause problems with the fit of the skin itself. Are you dead set on using the front skin?
Oh and don't buy it from there. XGEAR has a 60% off deal on the EXOSkin on their website right now
EDIT: correction, they had the promo for the weekend only. You could still try and see if it works. The code is EXOIPNEX4IPD2
EDIT 2: looks like it expired

I just installed mine tonight. Back of it is flawless and so easy to put on. Feels like real wood. The only beef I have is the front side. It does not protect the actual screen of the phone.....so I tried to install it over my BSE clear skin protector. Wasn't the best move (if perfection was what I was going for) because I ended up ripping the thin sides off to make installation over a barely dried wet applied clear skin. Still looks awesome though and I really really like it overall.
If I had to do it over again....I would have installed the front EXOskin over a tempered glass protector for the complete look. The reason the EXOskin didn't play well with the clear skin already on the phone is that the EXOskin is very adhesive. I think it would have been better over something like tempered glass. That would have given it protection over the actual screen and a wood look elsewhere.
Like I stated though....love mine.

Quoting myself.....the answer is VERY CAREFULLY. honestly best idea is tempered glass protector for front. Its difficult otherwise and probably not going to come out looking "perfect"

HTC Letter fell out

Today the glue filled into the C that is engraved in the back of the phone came out. I'm kinda an HTC fanboy so this left me pretty upset.... My camera lens is also really scratched up. Has anyone dealt with this issue and how was it handled?

Someone else mentioned this happening. HTC offered to fix the phone which meant the owner would be without the device for ~10 days. You may look into seeing if VZW will swap it out.

Slickwraps sells lens protectors, but that's probably a moot point since it's already scratched. However, buying some protection might help prevent further damage.

[Q] Camera Lens Repair

has anyone on here had to replace the glass in front of the camera?
basically my friend dropped his Nexus 5 onto some rocks, and it spider-cracked the camera glass. to make the camera kinda usable again, he just removed the broken glass. i'm thinking this is the part needed to repair/replace it:
http://www.amazon.com/Rear-Camera-R...412803080&sr=8-2&keywords=nexus+5+camera+lens
and then follow the first 3 steps over on an ifixit.com guide:

Never actually replaced the glass, but it should be pretty easy.
I've striped the phone down to the component parts and re built it before... wasn't that difficult using the iFixit guide.
The only awkward bit is removing the back plate - the glue was really sticky! just be gentle and you should be fine.
the back plate? is this what you're talking about?

No, I just meant the back cover. That panel holds the motherboard in place.

i just discovered this kit on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Chassis-Housi...413209575&sr=8-1&keywords=nexus+5+camera+lens
and taking the ifixit.com guide in mind, this seems like the easier part to replace than just the lens cover part. you think?

I don't think it will make it any easier or harder - you would have to take the old one out anyway, and it's just a few extra screws to remove the camera lens.
But it's only a few quid more to buy that part and they both come with free tools, so you might as well.

Transparant Back Plate?

Hi there guys, i'm interested in getting a transparant back plate, NOT case!!! (As seen in the picture, but the white back should be transparant)

I am not able to find this anywhere, maybe one of you has an idea? And no, a factory is not an optiom since i don't need a thousand of these, just one or two.
Yeah, it's an old thread, but i can admit: it would be awesome if there was transparent back plate

It was known for a quite long time now. But Note 5 / S6 Edge+ have glass+metal construction which cannot be seperated (you can't access the battery) , while S5 has plastic construction, where you can take off the back cover to get access to battery, sd card or sim card.
In Note 5 / S6 Edge+ you had to heat up the back glass to loose the adhesive underneath, pull out the glass, then scratch off the color layer, and finally readhere the glass to phone.
In our S5 we can't do something like that, because we have a plastic cover which is not transparent. I would love to have ability to simply mod it like that, but it is not possible
Search eBay or look for someone who molds things on eBay or youtube
Maybe you could print the case with an 3D Printer ?
There are Companys which offer this even with transparent "print".

Any luck?
+1
I want a couple too, any luck?
I bought the RIngke Fusion with clear back. It's a case, but it's tight enough that you can take out the back cover and use it as is.

No way to replace rear glass? Any way to fix it.

Is there any safe product that won't destroy the phone, but can be used to drop a couple of drops where the broken corner glass is to prevent the glass from further breaking and seal the phone. I was thinking paint, but are those toxics going to maybe eat the plastic under the rear glass and possibly damage seals and other things if the fumes enter the phone. There has to be a way to apply something, and it down and polish it to show minimal damage if there is no way to replace the rear glass.
Just before I had the chance to get a case, I dropped it. From reaching out my pocket it slips. My attempt to catch it slowed it down, but I'm shocked how weak, let me repeat, WEAK AS FUUUUK pixel 2 is. Every spot it touched, looks like it got dropped on. Because it hit the back and then flipped like a fish onto the screen which caused scratches on screen and frame.
The damage is:
11 screen scratches.
View from the front shows upper right scratch and lower right.
From back upper left. Right side is cracked and crack line runs across to camera side.

Anyone? Just need something that's going to harden but that it won't have fumes going inside the phone breaking apart internal glue and other seals.

Did you check how much it'll cost to fix it? And without pictures it's hard to make any suggestions

I saw there is a replacement glass available recently. I'd still rather try to fix the small crack. Just a drop or two of something that will bond to the crack seems the way to go. Easy to do, keep the phones water resistance.
