System Update Advanced Mode password? - Onetouch Idol 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone else unlocked the Advanced Mode for updates? Anyone know the tester password?
Just go to the System Updates app, click on the 3dot box, choose Help, click on one of the lines a bunch of times to unlock "advanced mode" then go back to the 3dots box and you'll see it.
It says "This is advanced mode only for testers . Please input tester password."
.

Wooo.
How did you discover that ? pretty hard to find
Would be interested to know how this mode works.

Just exploring around in the app...

Nice find! Wonder what this will lead to.

Nice find!

Does your settings menu in that app have a note in there about "if your system is rooted....."?

Mine yes

yeah mine too.

That is an obscure discovery. I have the message that tells me I'm rooted and can't use the app to update, too.

Has anyone found out what the password is yet!!?? I figure it has to be test builds

Anyone asked Alcatel support about it?

Here's the password:
fotaapp*#1221#
You need to know test build numbers and/or engineering IMEIs to use it for anything special.
Prospects for using it to downgrade doesn't look good
Maybe cross flashing between regions...

Netgear NeoTV Prime. Post anything and everything you want about it.

Well The purpose of this thread since i couldn't find anything related to this is to talk about this device to share info on what have people done to it or just share their personal experiences. My experience to buying it was i saw it on clearance for $39.99 and bought it just to use the app showbox and everything beside that is a plus. I haven't rooted it yet but i plan too even tough idk what i could do by rooting it since i don't think much development has gone into it. Well i hope people post on this if not i made a dud.
Here is a site with info for rooting and the specs and info on this box

Do you have any issues with the youtube app? Cause for some reason it kept force closing this past week then i uninstalled and the app said it wasn't compatible anymore on the play store so i had to download it from aptoide and now it works fine don't know why, and the send to youtube option doesn't work that well now as it used to two weeks ago i think the change of youtube to always play all videos on a playlist instead of just one just screwed it up

Neotv GTV100 update to 4.0 or 4.2.2
Hi,
I got my hands on this device in dec last year. Box perform well with USB mouse and keyboard, appear to be sluggish
with its original remote. Image on TV is good at 1080P. I can list what app I use upon request.
I ask for help me upgrade this box to 4.0 or 4.2.2 . My knowledge is limited in this area.
Up to now I was able to do the following:
Install recovery (2e) and being able to flash from usb any image listed below.
I used the Amazon fire package "adbfw115" to flash recovery, usb keyboard, hub, mouse, rom toolbox apk.....etc.
I can provide details upon request
I flashed original image found online
NeoTVPrime-ota.v1.0.9.zip
Then I updated the device. I was able to save the following images.
NeoTVPrime-ota-v1.1.33.zip
NeoTVPrime-ota-v1.1.45.zip
I can upload upon request, both are less than 300Mb
If somebody can take a copy from LG GTV 4.2.2 update I can compare with this ones.
I do not know how to fix/upgrade an image, I am just a tester.
Thanks

Hi,
sorry too busy....
Soooooooo, you must reboot in recovery.
You can use the fire adbfw117 (google is your friend) or rom toolbox (i have paid version) or ....probably there are many other. You must enable Setting - Applications - debugger IP ( your PC IP) + Remote debugging and Mock locations.
Once in recovery - (you need a USB keyboard) is a old (2e) version you can:
1) reboot
2) install update.zip from USB (I was able to flash any of the version listed above, I lost root but was able to re-install using the pawn patch (many thanks to people who made it happen)
3) wipe data / factory reset (that's probably what will help you with chrome issue)
4) wipe cache partition
Here I'm stuck because I do not know how to "mod" a rom or recovery. I was hoping
somebody can land me a hand to go further
Good luck

The APN configuration depends on your carrier, it must happen automatically when you put in the SIM card but sometimes when your fiddling with your device it doesn't and you have to do it manually.
Go to settings > more > mobile network > Access point names, take a screen shot and share it here.

I don't think it has anything to do with you APN settings, these actually control the data connectivity to the network ( 3G, HSDPA or 4G services ). It's most likely you have the wrong SMS center number. Open the Huawei Messaging app . Open Settings and look around for a setting called "SMS center number" , most likely in the "Advanced" menu ( in my case, but I'm running Nougat Beta which may be different from EMUI 4.0/4.1 ) . There you can set the correct SMS center number , which you can find by googling around or calling you voice provider's support number. After setting the correct SMS center number, restart the phone before testing.
When trying to open the message settings it close the message app and back to home page.
So I can't get in the message settings .

Take a look at my screen shot, in my case there are 3 diferent configurations, 1 is exclusive for the MMS, in your screen shot theres only 1 setting and thats is so you have connection to the internet.
Now I would not now how to configure it for your carrier but you might find it in google.
Another possible fix to your problem is to flash the CUST back up that you should have if you backed up your original ROM before upgrading.

ENGBOOT for SM-G930F (UNTESTED): Probably False (not Tested on a device)

Hello everybody!
I was surfing through the web when i found this file uploaded on 4shared claiming to be an Engboot for SM-G930F.
Naturally, I was sceptical about this file, as I am completely uneducated about the nuts and bolts of Android, I could neither confirm or deny that this is a valid file or not, so I decided to post the link to XDA , so much more knowledgeable people can take a look at it and see if it is a valid file or not. I don't want to flash this file on (bought yesterday) my S7 Edge, so here I am!
If anybody is feeling brave enough to try this on their phone, please go ahead and tell if this worked or not
Disclaimer: I am not responsible in any way for bricked devices, this file is completely untested.
Original Link: https://www.4shared.com/get/X3a35HZTba/SM-G930F-ENGBOOT-bay_MrTpO.html
Zippyshare (no registration) Link: http://www80.zippyshare.com/v/axSXOCtR/file.html
Edit: This is important because if this file works, you could thereotically flash anything you want WITHOUT tripping knox.
Also you can easily unbrick your phone by flashing the stock ROM if it comes to that.
Noob you can test self on your phone. We are not your tester here.

I'm sorry that I apparently did not make it clear in the original post, but I have a S7 EDGE not a S7, so flashing this would probably brick my phone and yield no good result. I made this thread so the community may possibly benefit from this.

Alright, I just stumbled upon this. I'm assuming no one has tested this. From what I've read in post 8, is it safe to say that this file is *supposed* to fix the IMEI issue coming up as 000000000?
This might be what I need because my phone is giving me the following error in recovery
"dm-verity verification failed...
Need to check DRK first..."
Also as I mentioned above my IMEI is all 0's, which I'm assuming is caused by a faulty EFS partition.
No matter how many times I try to flash stock firmware through ODIN, I always end up in the same spot.

Thanks for the response. I have came across that thread and tried those steps, but it didn't help unfortunately. I have also tried several other things such as hex editing the EFS partition and using 3rd party tools to try and change the IMEI, but nothing seems to be working. My last resort might have to be going through Samsung Service Center.
The odd thing is that I have a SM-G930T, however according to my IMEI on here: http://www.imei.info, it's showing as SM-G930F which is confusing. IMEI is 357752072430049

The thing that's confusing is that SM-G930F and SM-G930T are 2 different models.
My phone, is a tmobile version, which should be SM-930T (snapdragon chipset), according to the IMEI checked with my IMEI it shows that it's SM-G930F which is an exynos chipset. This is what's confusin to me...
I tried flashing twrp on there using herolte, heroqltechn and heroqlte and none of them worked. I tried it through ODIN, I tried it through flashfire, I tried it through adbshell using the DD command and none of those methods worked.
As far as what I have tried regarding the DRK and IMEI fixes...
I have tried flashing the SM-G930T PK1 and PIA stock firmware and nothing fixed it.
I have tried restoring full backups I made (prior to having these issues) with flashfire, and I got it to boot, but then I got a error with it being able to decrypt my storage so it forced me to go into the stock recovery and wipe data\factory restore and wipe cache, after I did that the DRK and IMEI issue came back.
From what I've read it seems I need a custom kernel (which apparently isn't an option right now) for me to bypass the IMEI and DRK issue.
The other option I read was to write the certificate back to my phone. I asked if I am able to pull the cert from an old backup that I made, but was told that it's not possible to pull it from a backup.
I also tried taking the EFS.img file from an old backup (prior to these issues) and tried restoring it, and this didn't fix anything.
I tried taking EFS and hex editing the value into it, still nadda.
When I was desperate, someone mentioned using the PIT file from a stock tmobile firmware and using that to re-partition the phone as well as doing a NAND erase on the phone as well as an EFS clear and bootloader update, so I tried that and still nothing.
If anyone can provide any assistance it would be greatly appreciated, but I'm not sure what else to try. Unfortunately my options are somewhat limited by a locked bootloader.

Cannot restore to stock using Mobile Upgrade Q.

It seems Alcatel abandoned our device.

Look the reason you are getting the message is because you restored your phone once on IP 240.4.4.xx.x.xx.xx. If you use another IP address you would not get that message. So, use a vpn or change you IP or use someone else's internet connection. It has happened to me more then once and was very frustrating as until I figured it out. Go to google and type in "What is my IP address" and start their.

Use this program here ...
https://mega.nz/#!9UdDGJLI!9S87X0wH0OEc3nKSd7dZHCES7RpDW8iWpPnPSqCPLzs (I'm trying to think of how this goes by memory so bare with me)
make sure you have the drivers installed. extract the file and the password is in the txt file. I can't remember the exact steps, but I think it will do some type of update or you go to "get version" if you don't see 6045 in the device list. once it's there you can go to the grey box besides get version that says update or download or something. my brain heh I can't remember, but then you click that and it will bring you back to stock. I did it on my 6045O flawlessly. It brought me right into the latest update. also if you go into the program files and go to the Sugar software folder after it's downloading the latest firmware for your phone and you go to the bin folder you should see a downloaded folder with your model number plus some other numbers and letters. copy that to your desktop. once that's done find the file starting with "R" that is the recovery image. delete that and replace it with twrp recovery image and just name it recovery. go back into the main Sugar folder in the program files and replace the folder with your model number with that folder. you also see a folder named download. that is the downloaded firmware you can delete that folder and just leave the modded folder with your model number containing the twrp recovery image. meanwhile, go through the setup process on your phone and skip all the steps you can and go into the phone. go to the about device and tap on the build number to unlock the developer options. make sure the OEM bootloader unlock is toggled and I just changed the usb debugging also although I don't think that's necessary. go back into the Sugar program and then go to just the update or whatever it is beside the get version and click that and it will update the phone with the latest firmware and it will put the custom recovery on it. make sure once it's done downloading you unplug it and turn it off then go into recovery mode by holding the power down and volume up until the main logo comes up then let go of power and keep holding volume up until twrp boots up. make sure you already have the latest SuperSU zip on your sdcard. go to the terminal or sometimes one comes up from the beginning and enter the systemless supersu line/code or whatever you call it and then hit enter or if it will go straight into twrp first do a factory reset in the advanced wipe tab then the systemless supersu terminal line code and then install the supersu zip. that's it. your back to the latest firmware and rooted. oh and btw, I forgot if you have to be in download mode when you are using the Sugar program. I play around in several phones so forgot at the moment. If you need to go into download mode just plug in the usb as your holding power, volume up and down at the same time and then when it goes into the download mode screen hold volume up for 5-10 seconds until the screen goes black. I hope it helps and sorry if any of this is confusing. It can be a bit advanced for some.

Press and hold the Volume up button, then briefly press the Power button. Keep pressing the Volume up button. Scroll to the desired language using the Volume down button, then press the Power button. Scroll to wipe data/factory reset by pressing the Volume down button.
Then try to do an update OTA.
If you are running stock and have for the last 6 months or so, their are not any new updates???
Just curious why you would think their is an update??
Also, "There is no greater version available to upgrade your phone" chewyboy0 admitted that Mobile Q software does work because Mobile Q software had to go out to the Alcatel servers to check which version he had.
Finally, Also, you gave no reference of whether you are running stock ROM, Rooted?? TWRP?? or for that matter whether you Samsung Galaxy phone can be plugged into the Mobile Q software. In other words, your coming up a little short on details.
I am running a custom ROM and I wanted to go back to stock for various reasons but I will try one of the methods above.

https://mega.nz/#!9UdDGJLI!9S87X0wH0OEc3nKSd7dZHCES7RpDW8iWpPnPSqCPLzs (I'm trying to think of how this goes by memory so bare with me)
make sure you have the drivers installed. extract the file and the password is in the txt file.

I am from india, using 6045k, lost duel sim support duo to flashing of marionette's Rom. Still trying to get duel sim back, tried eluga firmware also, but unfortunately i didn't get any error at 45%. Now i am using flyos 2.0, its working like charm. But only one sim is there, i tried several software upgrader versions, but server is not connecting, its always stuck at 20%.
Pls help me.

Currently Alcatel has disabled the posibility of reflashing a stock ROM with Mobile Upgrade Q, so the only way is by flashing via TWRP or Sahara tool.
I have a 6045Y in latest stock MM (Build 22) and i'm incapable of performing a flash with Mobile Upgrade Q in order to clean my modified /system, the worst thing is that there is no flashable zip of this version which contain many critical fixes. I'm too very annoyed with this change of policy of Alcatel/TCL, they want me to buy a new smatphone but I'll not give them that pleasure, the Idol 3 5.5 is the best smartphone i've ever had in terms of hardware, it's a shame...

Actually, software upgrader can do the job. But the problem was slow server speed. Use q. 5.1.8, simply connect your in switch off condition, and try upgrading, if its not working, try VPN. I tried psyphon VPN connected to USA. In india serveris very slow.
6045k still running on lilopop, thats why people go going for stock roms.

SM-G955U1. XAA version. Bootloop problem, any help?

MY BAD, PLEASE MOVE THIS TO THE CORRECT SECTION. I'M REALLY SORRY.
Hello!, my mother bought this phone for her in the US and from day 0 it has been having problems. She couldn't use wifi or bluetooth for example, and sometimes it just kept restarting till it worked again, but without any connectivity functions, except mobile data.
I tried to fix this updating the phone using Samsung Smart Switch to the last build (AQL1) but now the phone is stuck on the boot screen no matter what I do.
Tried flashing with Odin, it worked, but the phone is still on boot loop. I read somewhere in this forum that you can install an older version of the bootloader to take the phone out of this hell and I did it, using the build AQK2 bootloader but no luck, same problem.
Also, the phone doesn't have USB debugging enable nor OEM unlock either. I can access both recovery and download mode though.
At this point I'm out of ideas, can someone help me with this one?
Thanks in advanced.

Thanks for answering. Where I live there is not a single Samsung Service, only at like 1800km from here, that's why I'm trying to solve this by myself but seems that this is a hard one... I hope someone can help me to deal with this as it was a big investment :/
Thanks again!, if someone knows a way to help please tell me.

No I haven't, I will give a try soon through web chat.
I mean, this shouldn't be happening, it's a brand new phone, all over the internet are people with the same problems as me and looks like so far there is no solution.
Maybe it's a faulty phone/hardware? My knowledge is not enough in this matter.
See you!,
Federico.
I need a couple things from you
1. What model does it say on the back of the phone i understand you posted it in the header but please for safety sake .
2. Go into download mode for me so i can see what carrier it lists
3. Try wiping data cache in recovery

Thanks for answering!, here it goes:
1. It says SM-G955U1
2. Carrier: XAA
3. Done, still the same.
An update from my last post:
After a few bootloops the FRP screen showed up, as the phone can't use wifi yet I managed to access using mobile data and enabled the USB debugging, but after trying to enable wifi the phone froze and went on bootloop again, so still the same but with the USB debugging enabled. I'm currently on the build AQK2.
Thanks again, and I hope we can fix this.
Update 2:
I cleared the cache, after a few bootloops the phone actually boots (gets to the lock screen), and it restarts again while the message "Android is starting" is loading, so now it's a different type of bootloop I guess. It does the same even in safe mode.
I will turn it off for now.

2. extract the zip file using 7zip so you have 5 .tar.md5 files
3. go to the CSC_OYM_G955U1OYM2AQL1_CL12513005_QB15986651_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 and right click on the file and goto 7-zip and then click open archive
4. you will see a file called DREAM2QLTE_USA_SINGLE.pit i want you to extract it to the folder you have Odin in if not quick search forums for it
5. Open odin and go to the the pit tab it will do a pop up just click ok and ignore
6. click the pit button and find the pit file that you extracted and select it
7. now go to options tab
8.check to make sure you have auto reboot, re-partition, and f reset timer checked

Sadly it didn't work. The phone is still loading till "android is starting" sign and then restarting again.
I will write you so you can help me through pm, could this be a faulty hardware?
I'd like to know the other solution too.
I will tell you all what todo as a last resort.
IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO THIS I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOUR DEVICE STOPS WORKING OR DOES NOT TURN ON!!!
Follow all previously said steps i outlined but when you go into the options tab select nand erase all also then flash device.

@fefin -Sorry to hear that you're having issues - But I'd like to clear one thing up - Your comment that this is an issue "all over the internet" sim isn't true... I don't know how many Millions of S8 / S8+ have been sold - But your post is the first that I've ever heard of anything like this... I concur with the recommendation that you call or Chat with Samsung Technical Support - Preferably before you find the phone completely unable to Boot into Download Mode - Get Samsung to help you - or you may risk voiding the warranty if Samsung determines that you are ultimately responsible for the state of the phone ??

Thanks for answering!, sorry for my late response.
Well, if you check samsung's official forum there are a few threads with 15+ pages of people complaining about wifi issues (https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/GS8QA/thread-id/862/page/1 and https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/GS8QA/thread-id/30601/page/1) about bootloop problems, (https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...id/GS8QA/thread-id/3920/highlight/true/page/1) also there is a post on another webpage talking about bootloops on this model and how to fix them (https://thedroidguy.com/2017/12/sol...p-issue-s8-turns-screen-remains-black-1079013).
I know it's not representative, as you said, millions of phones has been sold, but what I meant when I said "all over the internet" is that you can easily find people with this same problem. This shouldn't be happening, not on any phone even less on such an expensive phone.
I think the phone is officially dead, I took it to a well known local technician and even him couldn't fix it. My nearest official samsung service is 1600km away. On the other hand, my aunty got for herself an S8 and it's working perfect, so it's just bad luck for my mom I guess.
The phone had issues since she bought it (wifi and bluetooth didn't worked at all, but she is not really a tech person so she thought it was fine), the phone was working with some bootloops from time to time and after a while it fell from and got a little crack on the top but it didn't change the behavior of the phone, it was still ****ed up. That's the thing, because of the crack I'm pretty sure they won't take it back or even try to fix it (for free at least), they will say the problem is because of the fall. I'd been reading a lot about this and seems that I'm pretty screwed D:
I will sell the phone for parts. At least I will recover 60% of the initial investment.

If you have some 'proof' the problem existed, before the crack, and can prove when the crack occurred, or reasonable determinate approximation, small claims court will vindicate you, and Samsung will have to pay.
Sad to say would take a little time of yours to get them there, but it is an easy process, and with reasonable ability to determine/evidence those two things, a sure win.
But still a PITA.
