Downgrade? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

So after DL all the files and backed up my phone to the PC, went to bed.
I got up, dropped my daughter off to camp. Went to swipe to unlock my phone and the update popup was there. I must have held my finger too long because it installed the damn update now I am on OF1. Is there any home to get back to OE2? Can I odin back then root? I just want to freeze the OTA updater and a few more apps.
Thanks in advance.

No once your on of1 you can't downgrade unfortunately.

Havent found a way to manually root yet. Can try Odin, but from what I can tell it will trip KNOX. Ping Pong wont work. If I find a way I will update you.

Me too but I gave it to my son and picked up another. lol Really the phone runs great on OF1 so it's not a huge deal. As a positive you don't have to worry about upgrading to 5.1 either.
EDIT: Odin will just fail to flash. It's almost impossible to trip knox, I've tried many times.

So from what I understand I need odin to flash stock I535VRALG1. Is that all I need to do? Anyone know where to find the image? Will doing this trip the flash counter? What should I watch out for when they inspect the phone.

You will have to Odin the orignal I535VRALF2 then do the OTA update to get back to stock I535VRALG1.

thats what i wasnt sure about, cuz my phone came with a sticker that said updated. basically i got it with I535VRALG1. So will verizon see that i got the "second" ota update? can all this be done without tripping any flash counter?

I don't think going back to factory then updating their way will effect the trip counter.

[Q] Ok to update after bootloader unlock and root?

Hey all,
Now that I have my phone rooted and unlocked, is it ok if I accept and install the latest OTA update? Is there any additional steps I need to take before or after?
use voodoo from the market to protect root and temp unroot while updating. also you have to be stock, with all the bloat apps installed and not frozen, or the update will fail.
ultimately the update will likely fail at the end anyways, but as long as it updates the baseband, that's all you really want out of it anyways.
Ok thanks. I will give it a try. Sounds like it will probably fail. LoL

i have taken the update about a dozen times no problem, and didn't loose root one time.
matts utility reverts to before the update (including the baseband), so there is really no danger as long as you are already unlocked.

[Q] Verizon S3 SCH-i535 JSS15J.VRUCNC1 How to Root?

Hey Guys,
going nuts over here... Tried odin method to flash NasirTech's CF_AutoRoot, it failed with "Auth Failed" on Odin. Tried cubeuncube's saferoot, that also failed saying my kernel has been patched. Can someone please point me in the right direction on how to get root on my device?
Thanks,
From what I have read you need to odin back to the previous release (ML1 I believe). Current rooting approaches do not work on NC1. You should also be posting this in the questions forum, not in general...

Some users have reported that they are still rooted. I'm almost sure it's a very small percentage that took the NC1 update that are still rooted.
My gf keeps putting off the OTA for NC1 and I told her what the "So called" benefit of updating to it and she told me, well maybe I'll be going to Canada. I told her its Realistically not for us USA users anyways lol

Ummm I wouldn't use an unreliable link. Just my personal opinion. You will hard brick if you attempt to flash anything other than a TW rom on the ML1 modem/rom. You have to flash back to ML1 from NC1 using Odin.

Root for Build LRX22G-G920VVRU2AOF1

I picked up the S6 from Verizon over the weekend and without thinking I took an out of the box update that pushed the build to OF1. From what I have been reading there's no going back from this build. Is that true and would anyone know if someone is working on a method to root this new build or that will allow us to roll back to the old build to gain root?

i picked mine up about a month ago, unwitting of the predistro of verizons aof1. i was really looking forward to rooting and beginning to work.
as such, im assuming, from lack of ability to load custom recovery, as well as not reload the baseband and have it stick, its pointless to try downgrading to the oldest stock? it bricks?
somewhat noob and would love a redirect to a better forum for this q if known.

Sure do. Tried the QE2 and QC7 files in @koop1955 's big post, but both get the same error. I imagine because I'm on S6 Edge, not just S6?
Although, now it looks like he's working on a new rooting method, so maybe I should hang back a bit for now anyway.

Thanks for this, very helpful. I'm in a similar state from the guy above, currently running Renegade OJ7 v1, my kernel is 3.10.61-S6_UniKernel_v9-0000_beta, baseband version G925PVPU3BOJ7 and TWRP 2.8.7.0 with the most recent version of SuperSU.
My question is: should I bother with updating the kernel as well as flashing the TAR you linked to, or is just the TAR good enough? After that, should I mess with TWRP or leave it alone? Once I get that done, if I'm looking for a clean slate, should I just wipe all partitions and flash the ROM? If you can answer any/all of these it would be hugely helpful for a guy who doesn't do that much flashing and can't swing $800 on the new S8 right now.
Thank you!

I still have my edge and am running this. All I can tell you is you have to update to nougat first (flash the tar I think). It's been a long time since I did it. Once my phone was updated to the new firmware I then installed twrp and flashed the rom. That's about all I can remember. In my case it got hung in a boot loop and I had to flash a second time. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Any chance you can let me know which kernel you're running? I get a lot of lockscreen crashing on my existing one and wondering if there isn't a better one available.
