I think 75 mbit+ is enough for most people when browsing the web on 4g (Download booster is only able to use 4g, right?).
There is really nothing besides downloading that should use both 4g connection and Wifi on the internet. Maybe streaming, but then again on 4g you have more than enough.

Even with bad reception 4g is still at least 15mbit/s and should load pages almost instant. I myself got 1/5 coverage on 4g and is seeing 50+mbit/s.
If your coverage is so bad that you get onto 2g or 3g automatically the downloader booster you're talking about would not help anyways, as it's for 4g only + if you're on wifi, it's rarely so slow you need your mobile data. It would also drain your battery like no tomorrow.

Torrent clients?

I'm interested in finding a torrent client. I've looked around the marketplace but can't seem to find one. Does anyone know if one is in the works or exists yet?
There is a bitorrent client around I think Its called aBTC, google it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546105
$5 seems a bit much for an app that rates only just over 3 stars... are there any others?
Iv seen another one but it just does not come close to aBTC
Seriously worth the money if u download music from torrents or even movies lol, but its recommended you have Wi-Fi
It works like a charm lol
Yeah, I gues for me, the times I'm on WiFi is when I'm at home... so I would use my PC for torrents then. It might come in handy one day for a torrent client on my phone, but thats not worth paying $5 for a 'maybe one day I might use it'.
The are some on the market. I've been using torrent-fu Free on the market and it does what I need.
Doesn't that just link to a torrent client on your PC?
If it does, can you do this while you're out and about, or only when you're on your home network?

Well in that case you have no need for a torrent client on your phone, Wi-FI is only reccomended as it saves on your data usage.
I am restricted to 1GB data usage which i use up about 500-600 MB of each month so i guess i dont mind using it to download music on the go
If you have an unlimted data plan then aBTC will work ok without Wi-Fi it jus means u will be restricted when it comes to download speeds lol

Mine works quite happily behind the router with some simple port forwarding. Torrent Fu works really well for me.
I use transdriod. It's free and it works very well.

What an odd and rather pointless thing to say. You're deciding I don't need this app? Even though I've just said there might be the occasion that I do... hence, I'm asking about it.

can sprint tell when i wireless teather?

Simple question I just want to make sure I don't get extra charges for teathering to my laptop every once in a while when the laptop would be easier.
not unless you call them and tell them

of course they can. the real question is do they really care?! i remember a thread with one person touting something like 50GB of use in a single month...
so they really wont care if I use my phone as a wireless hot spot for temporary usage for like email or playing online with my PSP or something...awesome. Thanks

They can probably tell when your usage jumps up like that, but thats it.
50gbs? Thats nothing, I average 2~3 sometimes 5 gbs a day, and I try to take it easy when I tether

Sometimes I use over 15GB/mo. just on my phone. They probably don't care. I read that with WiMax they're not even going to have a bandwidth limit, so you can download and tether to your heart's content. I'm definitely looking forward to that.
Lol, I'm pretty sure 50GB was the guy who was considered the lightweight. I'm almost positive I read a guy using over 100GB, and Sprint didn't do anything. That kind of stuff just makes me laugh.

You're lucky you get WiMax already.... I don't live in a city, so regular 3g for me..... They also can't tell if you tether UNLESS you use built-in MNS.

MNS is Mobile Network Sharing. Internet Sharing on fresh 2.0.
They can tell if you tether with that. On wireless tether, it just looks like normal data usage.

I have used my Hero Tethered to my Laptop *thus giving it internet access.
then through the LAN port on the laptop supply internet access to my 360 which I use to play MW2
I used 15GB in 1 night sprint never said anything.

I believe it signals your carrier or goes through a different set of ports. Either way, I tried this on a 1.5 rom and my phone wouldn't connect to EVDOs for an hour. Scary.

220MB of data used in less than 1 day. WHAT?

I just checked my t-mobile account and noticed I used 220mb of data since yesterday afternoon. How in the world is this possible if I was on wifi 90% of the time?
This sucks because I lose 4g speeds after 2GB of data.
are you sure that's only since yesterday & not from the start of your billing cycle?
I'm a brand new tmobile customer. Signed up yesterday.
Might be the T-Mobile app thing. There was somebody else complaining of high data usage and traced it back to this app.

I'll see if I can find the thread for you
Couldn't find the specific post/thread I was quoting, but I did find this, on Android Police:
Update: Don’t install this app until it gets an update – it will turn your GPS on every 10 seconds to update your location info, and won’t stop unless you Force Stop it from the Manage Applications screen. It was at 68% on my phone’s battery usage menu after 6 hours of doing little with my phone aside from checking e-mail sporadically. Yuck.

If it's using GPS to update your location every 10 seconds, that needs data. So I suspect, if you have this app installed, this could be your problem.
Get a data usage app that tells you what app is using how much data. If it shows that it is indeed this new T-Mobile app, there's your problem
From this post: http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...more-for-me-though-were-not-sure-why-exactly/
EDIT: Not the thread I was talking about (and still trying to find!) but I have found this, which may or may not be of use: Click

Just downloaded it. I'm not concerned with data (tho still want to read that post), I'm more concerned with why a lot of apps that I don't even use seem to always be on.
I think it's because they're stock apps and the default is always on. Once we have root, we should be able to get rid of them, and once we can flash ROMs, we can install stock HTC software, or Android Revolution HD
Just another reason to have s-off and root
Ok, after downloading traffic counter, it looks like it IS my fault for the excessive data usage.
It's showing the speed test app as using 130mb of data (since last reboot, which was yesterday). I admit I went a little crazy on the speedtest app yesterday and today (I've never had 4g speeds before switching to tmobile), but why does it use SO much data? I did quite a few tests, but still.
I tried that traffic counter app. XDA is killing my data 27mb. I spend to much time at this place.

As I'm on an unlimited data plan, I don't really care about data usage. I can go up to something like 5gb and my network (giffgaff, easily the best network in the UK) doesn't really care! The only thing I can't do is tether, but I can create a wifi hotspot for when I need to get on the internet on a bigger screen
If you're in the UK, I strongly implore you to take a look at giffgaff. Link in my sig

if you have a fast connection it needs to send/receiver bigger files to get an accurate account of what your speed it. if it only used like a 512KB file then it'd show your speed as 1028238234978234978MBps.

just did 2 tests to test the theory. 30MB down/8MB up

What can i do to with my 4g?

Testing for 4g just started in Scranton/wilkes barre.
So now I have silly bandwidth, but aside from streaming movies/music, how can I make use of all this bandwidth. While I'm at work what can i be poperly downloading and then using. What other sweet uses can we make of this bandwidth/phone?
Download a 400mb rom.
i was tryign to avoid going ginger until after the official goes out and all the cuent get tweaked, mostly because i'm lazy enough not to want to reenter/setup everything, but bamf will probalby happen by the end of the week, cuz while lazy, i'm also impatient with verizon.
you know your standar android user.
Theres not really anything "to do" with the speed, just notice how everything runs and loads quicker. Apps download faster, youtube plays in beautiful HD. Yea and download a 400mb ROM .

If you have to ask, why did you get a 4G phone?
Um... It's kinda like having a Honda CBR1000RR. It's pretty awesome, when you want speed it'll make a Florida interstate look like a long parking lot, but you so rarely get to use it to its fullest potential.
download porn, only thing left to do
ya, thats the point, to try and make better use of it. I bought it because its better than the third pc I built as an adult, the speed was an added bonus for video/music. Finding more uses for that is what the community is for. one guy can't come up with it all, and this is my first android.

I've found that it's way easier to download podcasts on 4g than it was on 3g. But if I get far behind on my downloads I still tend to switch it over to wifi.

Hey John,
Don't tell me you actually believe it? Besides, if I'm wrong and it really works, which I doubt, you won't see the difference.
The YT video wants you to "put ( your phone) near at metal objects", which is kinda frankenstein-ish and too much of a hassle...
C'mon, 3 applications? Seriously?
Better get a new phone with a stroger adapter, alternatively an LTE compatible smartphone/phablet. ^ ^
True, if you're living on the outskirts of the city, in rural regions or somewhere in the desert, then yea, you probably wanna try that. If I lived there I'd probably go crazy.

That doesnt work. I was on slow 10mb adsl too last time. But after upgradi ng to 300mb fiber, everything is damn fast. Uploading 1gb videos to gdrive only takes 7mins.
Now thats fast internet. Dont bother with other crappy methods to boost speed
Doesn't work
Tried it. Does not work. I try everything, because my Sprint service in San Francisco has got to be the slowest LTE ever! I messed up and let my daughters get new phones on Sprint, so now I'm stuck with them for a while. Any other suggestions on increasing speed levels is greatly appreciated.
