Q&A
Q. I want to use my own updater-script. Is this possible?
A. Yes. Just place your updater-script in tools/createZip/META-INF/com/google/android/ folder and the app will use it in place of the default one. Although it's not required, it would be nice if you can leave or add the words zip created by 3Minit Android studio.
Q. Can I add another apktool version?
A. Yes. Just add it in the tools folder and the app will pick it up (restart app after adding to see changes).
Q. What are tags and how do I use them?
A. Tags allow you to work on multiple projects at the same time, without re-installing the framework files each time. To use them, just type the tag name in the textbox before pressing the install framework button. Then, when you decompile the apk, just select the tag from the drop down list. This is not needed when compiling the apk, as apktool uses the same tag automatically.
Q. Can I add new directories for the create zip function after compiling the apk?
A. Yes. Click the preference tab then the Add/Remove flash zip directories. You can also do a quick edit by typing directly into the drop down list.

@gharrington Awesome work my friend!

Windows
Windows version is now available enjoy.

work fine for me , your first tester...Most appreciate friend.

Mac version now updated to v 0.2

Worked absolutely flawlessly.
A note for testers/users. Create a directory (name it whatever you will remember) and drop the apks you want to work on there.
I got lost for a minute finding the extracted apks. They were under a directory created where the apks were. I'm used to finding them under the same directory as the program.
Not *****ing..... it's actually easier like that.

Lovely work!! Looking forward for further development and improvement for this great piece of work. Working fine for me.

[ThemeTemplates] Nexus1 Stock-ERD79 - de-odex'd and 100% theme-able

!! Let the Themes Begin !!
First off ... MadProps to the our android trailblazer JF for his smali/baksmali/deodexerant toolset, w/out these, we wouldn't have this ... so HUGE THANKS!
That said ... due to his great work ... you can and *should* donate to him here ... https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=1014600
** What we got here !! **
De-odex'd app/framework for the Nexus1 Stock ERD79 build from Google and the resulting theme templates!
Everything is de-odex'd except core.jar, which is fine for theme-ing (and pretty much all other) purposes.
UPDATED: 1/13/2010 - !!!
- These are now (v2) Theme Templates. Same templates as before, except, now basically these templates no longer nuke the entire system/app & system/framework. Instead this update-script was altered to only nuke .odex files (using remtool.sh) in system/app and system/framework. This will allow users to save their manually *pushed* apps to system/app when applying a theme!
- For themers who used the older v1 templates ... simply add the remtool.sh script to the base of the theme.zip and update the META-INF/com/google/android/update-script, to get the newer functionality! Enjoy!
PLEASE NOTE: These ThemeTemplates have only been tested on TheOfficial Nexus1-Expansion v1.3 (discontinued) & Cyanogen's Makin Bacon' Addons (discontinuing .... I assume).
THIS IS NOT COMPATIBLE with cyanogen's CM-MOD-5.0 or my TheOfficial v1.4 and beyond.
They will likely work on any other STOCK Android-2.1-ERD79 based ROM's depending on what the dev has implemented.
I will maintain my own theme templates in my threads going forward, since the ROM customizations have begun. Good Stuff
These templates remain a great starting point, as well as a way for users who simply root, to still theme their own basic rooted builds.
Below are (2) theme templates ... the first is untouched plain jane, just simply de-odex'd.
The 2nd is untouched as well ... except the statusbar text's have been made white already. I did this to hopefully expedite the emergence of "black statusbar" themes quickly!!!

Here's the transparent version of the GenieWidget.apk from an earlier release. I got it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=615700 if anyone wants more information.
I figured it'd be useful for the theme folks out there. I personally prefer this over the one that came with the phone.

Hurry upz, that looks smexy! Even though I don't have a Nexus yet, it does look nice.
Thanks bro its coming soon bro just got going and will very soon.
Is there a guide on how to theme?
I'm pretty handy with Photoshop and wouldn't mind having a go at making a theme!
Don't you simply replace the images shown in the theme? Well of course, after opening the apk file and looking at the contents. The pictures do come as indexed though, but you could simply convert them to RGB for a minute to apply more eccentric colors, and convert them back. I did this; I don't have my Nexus yet, sadly, so I don't know if my simple method really works.
Don't feel like tryin' on my G1.

You can open the apk files with WinRAR, from what I've seen, the themes are set up like this. (When you open the .zip file in WinRAR)
System > Framework > framework-res.apk (which is where you really need to be) > res > drawable-hdpi is where all the images are used in the theme, from my personal understanding.
But you should talk to a professional themer, I'm just a guy who can graphic design a tad, and easily replace images. Um, and about the duplicate thing, I have no idea, I really just open the image file up, then right click on the image and edit it with my image editing program, and save - so that I don't have to extract the files myself.

Cheers for that! Will try tomorrow on my Mac hopefully should extract with UnRarX.
This pc doesn't have WinRAR so cant try it now (Family PC used for just Facebook...)
The .9.png cant just be edited,if you edit them you will need to use a tool called draw9patch in the sdk tools folder and set the guides and then re-sign the image with eclipse.

[TOOLBOX] RegawMOD Toolbox v1.2 | 5.16.10 | Updated and Unlocked!

RegawMOD Toolbox v1.2
My main goal for this project is to design a program for people new to Android that would like to use some of the more advanced tools, without needing to know how to do any of it themselves.
I have designed an interface on the command line that is very intuitive and will give everyone the ability to customize their Sprint HTC Hero to better suit their needs and preferences.
It has a very simple layout, and all of the tools are clearly laid out.
Features:
-Change your bootscreen from a wide selection!
-Set adb in your path on first run. This will allow you keep the toolbox wherever you like on your computer.
-Add/Remove Programs
-Reboot Phone Regular/Recovery
-Automated Nandroid backup
-Nandroid + Ext Backup (for a2sd users)
-Option to save nandroid backups to your HD for additional security and convenience.
-App backups
-Update Check for ROM/Toolbox
----More to come!
SMS database backup
ROM/Theme signing
Build Your Own ROM
Clear Caches
Strip/Add HTC Sense

[Mod][How-To] Change Sense 1.0 Lockscreen Sprint Banner

Hey gang. I know a lot of people know of JsChiSurf. You should. That man is one of the main reasons I do what I do today. Buy him some beers or fund his retirement
Anyways. He came up with a mod that can change the Sprint Banner in the Sense Lockscreen. The hack is pretty straightforward yet awesome. I based this mod off of his. Check it out here
His goal was to use a hex editor to modify the text, but I am taking a different approach. We have so many tools available now. Apktool, apk manager, and of course, Android Utility. This is for Sense 1.0 ota 4.54 Evo 4g.
This mod is easy to do.
Tools: Android-Utility, or apktool, Java
Download the attached files below: HtcLockScreen.apk and Testsign.jar
1. Have com.htc.resources.apk and framework-res.apk from your rom ready
2. Decode the apk like this if using apktool, run in command prompt or terminal:
Code:
apktool if framework-res.apk
apktool if com.htc.resources.apk
apktool d HtcLockScreen.apk out
3. Now, you should have a folder called "out"
4. Open the folder and look for res/layout/lock_screen_bar.xml
5. Open the xml in Notepad ++ or Gedit
6. Search for where it says "EVO Classic"
7. Change it to your desired text
8. Save and exit
9. Now, we compile the apk
Code:
apktool b out HtcLockScreen-new.apk
10. Now, we resign the apk.
Code:
Method A:
Open the original apk with 7-zip.
Take out the entire "META-INF" folder.
Open new apk with 7-zip.
Put in META-INF folder.
Method B: (only works on Evo Classic and other roms with signature verification off)
type in this command:
java -jar testsign.jar HtcLockScreen-new.apk HtcLockScreen-signed.apk
11. Download the sample Update.zip Found here, attached at bottom
12. Put the apk (renamed to HtcLockScreen.apk) inside the zip under system/app/
13. Flash and enjoy!
Sorry if this isn't noob-friendly enough. I tried to come up with a different way but this is all I got. The details are all there.
Please try it first.
But if you really can't get it, feel free to request a specific word or banner. I can upload them for you.

Sincerely,
Tommy Nguyen

Only changes the Banner Text. Lockbar will not be included.
All to be applied with ZipThemer
-EViL-KoNCEPTz- Banner
Sprint Banner
I'm guessing we can still use sprint apps, because this only changes the banner. Would I be correct?

Quick Circle Themer

Quick Circle Themer
Quick Circle Themer is a Xposed Module which allows you to easily change the watchfaces of the LG G3 Quick Circle Case
Update: Now also supports G2 Quick Window (thx to matii_ziomek for testing)
Download
The download is available from Xposed Installer
Source at GitHub
Get some themes here or here
Theme creation
See Getting the original resources to get an Idea about the files to modify.
Once you've got your modified files, you need to package them for the app.
1. You need a clock.xml, here's an example:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<clock>
<!--Title of the clock-->
<title>Awesome clock</title>
<!--some identifier. Use something unique-->
<id>com.coolguy.awesome</id>
<!--Name of the Author-->
<author>CoolGuy42</author>
<!--Description of the clock-->
<description>Some description</description>
<!--[Optional] Will automatically switch to clock when it's activated.-->
<!--Value is the index of the clock-->
<activate>0</activate>
<!--Device for which the clock is. "G2" or "G3"-->
<!--If not present will default to G3-->
<device>G3</device>
<replaces>
<!--List all files, you want to replace-->
<file>b2_quickcircle_analog_style03_hour.png</file>
<file>b2_quickcircle_analog_style03_minute.png</file>
<file>b2_quickcircle_analog_style03_second.png</file>
<file>b2_quickcircle_analog_style03_bg.png</file>
</replaces>
</clock>
2. You should optionally provide a preview.png which will be shown in the watchface chooser
3. Now zip up all your files, in the example you would zip the following files:
Code:
clock.xml
preview.png
b2_quickcircle_analog_style03_hour.png
b2_quickcircle_analog_style03_minute.png
b2_quickcircle_analog_style03_second.png
b2_quickcircle_analog_style03_bg.png
Getting the original resources
Make sure your phone is rooted and your adb is working
LG G3
1. Get your LGAlarmClock.apk from your phone:
Code:
adb pull /system/priv-app/LGAlarmClock.apk LGAlarmClock.apk
2. Extract LGAlarmClock.apk
3. The original resource are in
Code:
LGAlarmClock/res/raw-xxxhdpi/
LG G2
1. Get your LGClockWidget.apk from your phone:
Code:
adb pull /system/priv-app/LGClockWidget.apk LGClockWidget.apk
2. Extract LGClockWidget.apk
3. The original resource are in
Code:
LGClockWidget/res/drawable-xxhdpi/

As I don't have a G2 i would need more information, please contact me if you want support for G2 and maybe I can get it working.
This is awesome! I made one for my fiance and one for myself!
Is there a way to change the day/date display? I didn't see anything in the xml.
Sent from my VS985 4G
You can change the background:
The one for the third clock is called "b2_quickcircle_analog_style01_day_bg.png" and has a size of 152x130.
The one for the second clock is called "b2_quickcircle_analog_style03_day_bg.png" and has a size of 242x86.
Actually you can replace every resource of the clocks, just put the filename of the file you want to replace inside the xml and add the file to the zip.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the original resources, so it's probably best if you extract your own files (see Getting the original resources in the first post).
If you want to change the text color/font/position, then it's not possible (at least for now).

If I love a watch as much as this
Example theme edited for LG G2 Quick Window by me
example_G2.zip
I really, really hope this takes off. I used to make custom clock faces all the time, but have a new baby and no time to do it anymore.
Doesn't work for me... :-o
Hi!
I was very happy to find this app, but it doesn't work for me. It opens the .zip files correctly, but when I tap on Apply, nothing happens.
I tried to reboot the G3 but I can't see the select watch face in the circle. It shows the original one. There is no error message!
(Original G3 (855) Android with root...)
Please help me! I'd like to use one of those nice watches I found on the internet!! :crying: :good:

You're right! The QC Themer wasn't enabled... I set it on and restarted my device I tried to change the watch face and hooray! It works!
Thank you for the support! :good:
Hi Again!
I was so quick with my answer... So, I could set the Rolex to active and it works fine... I downloaded some other faces, but I can't switch to them... The Themer said (for example) the Tag is the active, but I see the Rolex... Tried with restart, just apply, reboot manually... I think the Rolex ate my phone...
