Have you tried a different micro USB cord?
Samsung makes cheap cords, every Samsung phone I've had the cord has crapped out within a year. If they are pinched or rolled up a lot it won't last long.

just in case someone forgets their power cable sometime during traveling. The iphone/ipad usb cable work to charge the galaxy tab plus but the power has to be powered off.
I purchased a refurbished galaxy tab 7.0 plus from cowboom on a special they had it didn't come with a power cord or any accessories. So I used my friends power cord from their iPhone and it wouldn't work then by accident I powered it down while I had it plugged in and it showed it was charging it, came back 3 hrs later fully charged.
Could not get it to transfer files. Sure glad it has a micro sd slot.
Have been doing this for over a week now. no issues, I ordered a replacement but in a pinch it works great.
Excellent post.
I've been using the same method since June when I purchased my P6210 on sale from Best Buy.
Only difference I have found is that I can get it to work without needing to power-off the tablet. Granted, I am using the original OEM charge cable with the Apple charger. To bypass this, I have to plug and unplug the cable before it is recognized by the tablet.
Secondly, once you go back to the stock charger and cable, the tablet does not recognize that a charge is being initiated. Power-cycle the tablet and it works.
Just an FYI
Good info to know in a crunch!
Thanks for this, great info. Nice we have a lot Iphone cables lying around.
That's amazing info.
I lost my stock charger, so i could charge my tab, it works great. Thanks:good
What? The plug in design is different so it wont go in. if you compare your oem samsung with an oem apple, theyre completely different... so how are you guys doing this without breaking the device??
I never even thought of trying it because I would have expected Apple to be way different. Will file this away for emergencies.
Thanks!

it's amazing how you got that plugged in.. i have 2 original apple cords and neither of them could be plugged into gtab.. and never will maybe.. i think they have exactly same size but different sockets inside. can you give us some picture of what you did ?
I also would like some additional information on this. My dad bought an iPad/iPhone car charger by accident for his 8.9 and then raged at me for it not working. He never returned it so...

Works on my Note 10.1, couldnt find the sammy cable so I used my iphone cable and its charging just fine.
iphone cables won't fit? how you do this???
Well there are two little tabs inside the port and if your delicate with it you can move them out of the way and the plug will fit And then when needed put them back in place.
It still thirty pin but from what I've found surfing around for the last three day's is that
a. You get really slow charge time or you may even have to do it with the tablet off
I agree after an hour it registered that it was charging but still looped on the Samsung logo because i think it hasn't charged enough I'm going to do like he said and charge it over night while its off
And b. That the slow charge has something to do with the voltage into the wall piece not the cord and that it takes forever charge but in a pinch it seems to work I'll let you know how it works out for me

Can I charge samsung galaxy tab S with an Iphone charger?
My phone has been hating chargers lately. I would say that my charging port is definitely going bad, except that there are a couple of chargers that do work pretty well with my phone. I bought a new Verizon universal car charger, and the first one worked well for about a month before my phone started connecting and disconnecting repeatedly. I took the charger to Verizon and the tech support lady took my phone and charger away for a few mins. She said that my car charger had a short in it. OK. So now I have a new one, and it is working well. But as for every other charger that I use. They all seem to have a very difficult time connecting or staying connected. If I move the cord around, the phone will begin to charge, although at a VERY slow pace. All of my high capacity chargers are doing this as well. Hours to charge the phone fully. Are all of my chargers simply going to crap, or is my charging port taking a slow dive? Ideas?
If I were you, I would get a wireless charger ASAP, to save wear and tear on your charge port. There are a few if you search. Verizon has one also.

Have you checked to see if your phone is charging by USB or ac? I ask because a lot of times my phone says USB even though it is an ac source.

Now that's not a bad idea. I forgot that these things have a wireless charging option. It's a little expensive if I remember right. I do have a $100 gift card from Christmas for Best Buy (hate that place!).

It does show charging by AC. I'll check on all of my chargers to be sure. But to clarify, on most chargers, my phone disconnects and reconnects to the charger over and over. It's as if either every charging cable I have is bad, or my charging port is loose or not getting a good connection. I have to make sure my phone sits even with the charging cable, or it won't charge at all. Vehicle chargers are the worst because of the constant movement in a vehicle.

Ah, okay. Didn't read that part haha. If i were you and had another phone to temporarily use i would send the phone to Samsung for warranty repair.

Yeah...it is still under the Verizon warranty. I have taken it up there, but I didn't want to be an ass, insisting that it's the phone, when maybe the phone is just picky about chargers. They did try to swap out my battery, as a first step. I'm probably gonna go up and insist on a replacement. I just don't see it being every other charger. I have owned several other smartphones that were power intensive, such as the Galaxy Nexus and the Droid X. They didn't have this problem.

Have you gone to Verizon about it? Just curious to know what they said to you, if so.
Hi,
I have had my phone since August 2012. Starting the other day my micro usb port on my S3 is starting to get really picky as to how it must be positioned to charge. I have tried atleast 4 different cables, all doing the same thing. I know its just a matter of time before it stops charging all together...
My question is
A)Is the micro USB replaceable (I have no soldering experience)
B)Should I replace the whole motherboard
C)Should I look for a new phone (I can use my brothers upgrade.... but only as last resort)
What are your thoughts?
Thanks!

I see videos for replacing just the usb part ON the motherboard, some people solder (like I said, I never soldered before)
AND there are some 'unprofessional' looking videos where people use a heat gun (which I have) to just replace it.
As for the motherboard replacement, there are good complete disassemblies of the S3, and some boards can be found on ebay
but for $130...
Well you should be careful charging your phone next time perhaps when you get a new device don't let the charger yank down on the port itself

you could always invest in wireless charging! Then you wouldnt have to deal with it! Could be a good alternative!
I found this:
http://www.amazon.com/SainSonic-Standard-Wireless-Charger-Receiver/dp/B00C3DKSRM?tag=notebookscom-20
and then you can just buy a wireless charger and boom no more worrying about the microusb port!

You could also buy a spare battery and one if those wall charger that you put the battery in (like that come with the zero lemon 2300 slims). You essentially charge the battery outside the phone, then just pop the charged battery in (no touching charging port on your phone). I think they're like 20 something bucks on Amazon and come with that wall charger thing.

I actually already had a external battery charger for my phone! I completely forgot I had it hahah!! I'll use this method until I can get an upgrade in August. Thanks everyone for your help
What's the deal? I'm using the stock charger and it doesn't say fast charging. In addition, no way to enable it under battery settings.
Did sprint disable it temporarily by default? Read there were some heat issues causing fast charging and s6 Edge issues. Maybe they disabled it until new firmware? I got one of the newer inventory models that is the platinum gold-colored 32gb that was not available until 4/27. I'm on build OCF, says it's fully updated. Perplexed because I've read the battery options shows a toggle for fast charge (which mine doesn't).
Someone educate me!
Update:
Very odd. Once I used an older USB cable from my s4 with the new fast charge AC adapter, fast charging worked! However with the USB cord that came with the S6 Edge it would only do a regular charge. No idea why, but if they have cable issues with what was shipped out, it's going to cause a lot of headaches for tech support and warranty claims etc.
I see others having tho issue also.

Yeah I changed cords and now fast charger is working. Kind of a big screw up by Samsung to ship with the wrong cord.

They'll pay for it in tech support calls and replacements, etc. You can bet some entire phones get replaced because some idiots didnt check the cord itself.
Evening All
So the last few weeks my S8 has been charging really slow.. it doesn't actually say 'Slow Charging', it still pops up with Fast Charging when plugged in (original charger with no damage).
It used to charge from pretty much dead to full in about an hour or so but now it's completely different. When I plug it in from about 20% it says around 2 hours to fully charged with fast charge.
Anyone else had this issue? My charger seems fine, always treated it well etc. My carrier (EE) has told me to contact Samsung but I just thought this would be worth a shot first.
Thanks

Even original cable charger works both ways, one side its slow charger and other side is fast. Try to change charger sides in the phone.

I am experiencing the exact same problem with my s8 plus. Its just been the past few weeks. I've tried switching out the cable and the AC adapter and nothing. I think I read somewhere that a recent update killed fast charging on some s8 plus models so I'm hoping that If it is a software issue it will be fixed when they roll out the next update. Otherwise I don't know what to do.
