Disclaimer:
THIS IS FOR D800 only. Please do not ask if I will make it for another device. If I have time and feel like it I will or you can use this ROM as a model to create your own. I am doing T-Mobile next and will try to do a model a day for the next few days.
Please follow instructions step by step. This method is a hacked together method to get a different ROM on device and not paying attention to instructions may result in you wasting time restoring to stock. Complete instructions will be listed and PLEASE do not clog thread by asking questions that have the answers in this first post. If you do ask questions that already have answers in this first post then you agree to PayPal me $100 within 24 hours of asking your question
ROM Info:
MUST HAVE KITKAT BASEBAND (MODEM, RADIO or whatever you want to call it)
Allows use of custom recovery.
Working Google Wallet.
No CarrierIQ.
No AT&T bloat.
Modified LG Stock firmware based on D80220a - KOT49I. Almost all Google Apps and LG Apps have been removed. You may find a list of removed files HERE. Below in Download section you can find a zip file that is NOT flashable with all removed files. You may use ADB to push files to device and set proper permissions or you may use a file explore with root privileges. Please do not clog thread with questions regarding ADB, root file browsers or setting proper permissions. There are many guides already available.
Custom recovery - It is not a new recovery, it is the current version. The ROM is a mix and match of 4.2.2 images and 4.4.2 images with 4.4.2 system image. The kernel and the mix bag if images allows use to use 4.4.2 while maintaining custom recovery.
Besides the bloat removal this ROM is pretty much stock and looks stock. This is for the user who wants to use a stock ROM without all the crap and customize how user would like.
LG Keyboard is removed and Google Keyboard is default. Google Home Launcher has been added along with Google startup and shutdown animations. View removed file list for other files that have been removed.
YOU MAY NEED TO USE THE CUSTOM DLL FILE BELOW FOR WHEN/IF YOU USE TOT FILE TO RETURN TO STOCK!!! The reason for this is because some D80220a references needed to stay in build.prop and LG Flash will not flash D800 firmware on device when it thinks it is D802. After you return to stock using TOT method you can use the regular DLL file or keep using the custom DLL file. The download for it can be found in the download section below.
New ROM discussion starts HERE. Page 66 of thread.
Change Log:
V2.2 --> V2.5
Updated base ROM to international to D80220d build. Includes knock on.
Remove Google Keyboard since the PlayStore version is causing conflicts with the LG Keyboard.
Some clean up...
V2.1 --> V2.2
Fixed GApps issue.
APN file updated to have preset APN settings for more providers. Tethering still working.
V2.1 --> V2.2
Fixed Tethering issue
V2 --> V2.1
Custom recovery will now be maintained when flashing ROM.
APN file has been updated so if you are using D800 on another service besides AT&T it should place the correct APN settings.
Instructions: THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THIS POST!!!
Download files
Place files on phone
Boot into recovery - I am using TWRP 2.6.3.3 so if you are using something different and have issues then please use TWRP 2.6.3.3 before posting any questions.

This mod should do it. You'll have to include the force overflow mod too.
Lock screen looks kinda funny with the shadow not going all the way to the bottom.

Thanks for the ROM! I'm confused though.. I see 4 roms by you in 3 threads in the AT&T section. Which one is going to be updated, or will they all? I see:
- AT&T stock debloated (with CIQ)
- Korean debloated with tweaks
- Korean debloated withOUT tweaks
- International debloated with tweaks
How do the Korean advanced and International versions differ? Sorry if it's obvious, but I'm just looking for more clarification. Thanks
I'll try to help out here a bit.
AT&T stock debloated, first attempt. CIQ probably means dead
Korean debloated, with tweaks still possible support, without consider it a base.
International, latest and greatest, probably new base, but AOSP seems to really be androids interest, like many others. These are just assumptions, but I would wager on it mostly. I can tell you that the international is ridiculously smooth, he's done a great job with it.

to get back in recovery you need to power all of the way down, hold power and volume down wait for the lg logo, release and then hold them down again. you will see factory reset, hit power, then hit it again.
You need to wipe your dalvik cache and cache, most people simply do a factory reset, but I go the extra step and wipe both again. Hope this helps.
How is this puppy handling for you all? I was debating between this and CleanROM. Obviously CleanROM has a lot of positive feedback and this thread is pretty bare. How is it treating you all? Bugs?
This is a stripped version, minus pretty much all LG software, this is day one of the build so I can't say on battery life, but it is fast. In line with the Canadian ROM, Scott released. I'll report be sack on battery life this evening

Thank you. When I did this (saw factory reset, hit power, hit power again), it went to a TWRP screen but only for a second, then kick back out. I couldn't read what it was doing. Unfortunately I can't get back to TWRP though. Before this happened, I had wiped system/cache/dalvik and flashed this ROM. It went through perfectly. However, then it prompted to install SuperSU (in a TWRP interface). I chose Yes, and then it froze up. That's what started this.
EDIT: Tried this again, and it goes into TWRP and resets factory settings, but it kicks right back out and goes to LG logo again with the flashing blue/green LED. Is there a way to kick it to TWRP by having it plugged into the computer?
Is this replacing your Korean/att modified build?

Yes I think so for now since this is going to be my daily driver. I am going to be doing a 1.1 version soon.
More bloat removed, zip file size is down to ~800megs
Removed LG Home and replacing it with CM Launcher
Cleaned out settings package to remove home and lockscreen options
modified thermal threshold settings to match the Korean version
SMS/MMS screen wake disabled
Stock Android system fonts enabled
Some other stuff I can not think of right now...
I may do the menu to recent apps key mod but I think it is best to leave that option to Xposed.

Q&A for [ROM] [4.4.4] [BACON] Mahdi-Rom 2.8 [10/09]
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Hi,
I have been running Mahdi on my OPO for a couple of weeks now and recently updated it. Since then i seem to have an issue where the lock screen becomes mostly unresponsive. i have to reboot the phone and when it asks if i want to it struggles to acknowledge me hitting the yes button.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks
Random screen on
I was just wondering if there was some way I could stop my phone from randomly turning the screen on in my pocket or when i pick it up? I've turned off double tap to wake and I'm running Mahdi.
Thanks for the help

Using Mahdi 2.81009/ak65unified
Some issues I have:
clicking hyperlinks will always ask 'select chrome, browser, etc' every single time
holding down the home button for recent apps doesnt always show all the apps that are running and I have to open again to check if they were really closed
screen sometimes flickers drastically and it will be fixed after reboot
connection drops for 30 secs at least after disconnecting wifi (I know this has nothing to do with mahdi though since it doesn't come with a modem)
any help would be appreciated!

So... select chrome and then press always instead of just once.
Why are you closing apps that are running in the background? Android takes care of handling the processes. You're practically "task killering" them and its a bad idea to do that.
Try another kernel.
Modem has nothing to do with wifi, thats all in the kernel. Try another kernel that contains the new wifi driver (e.g. franco or ak)
Update your ROM to 10/13.

Thanks @zephiK.
Yes, I have always clicked 'Always' lol I thought I didn't have to mention the obvious.
I'm closing the apps in the background cuz of my OCD. I know it's similar to task killing them but .. just my thang u know. Ill try to cut it out since you said it's bad but it frees up memory and it's still legit to close a program like that no? Unless you're telling me there's another way to close apps?
I'm still very new to Android; @nicholaschum helped me transitioned from iphone.
Unix/Linux/Android works different than Windows. There is a saying 'unused RAM is wasted RAM'. OK if it goes down to less than 100 MB it might be a bit low (garbage collection is probably not working well), but mainly better not touch it.

Very nice rom! Thank you for it!
Is it possible to change the heads-up blaclist to whitelist? Or maybe user decidable? Like on heads-up xposed module.
I'm used to whitelist on Carbon on a different device. I want to define the 4-5 apps which from I want to receive heads-ups, and from the rest of apps I don't want. With blaclist it is hard to do.
Thanks

Please help!
i have been running Mahdi Rom 16/10 and franco kernel R27 if i remember correctly.
After a night, I rebooted my phone in the morning. It entered the rom normally however there is no access to the storage, no cell network, no wifi, clock is set to 1830. All apps installed are there but not working properly with no access to storage and network.
The storage can be accessed in the recovery mode.
Things i have done to try solving the problem:
1. Delete cache and Dalvik in recovery. Reboot. Same.
2. Clean install the mahdi rom. Now it will boot into the page where i can choose language but i cannot do anything. It will reboot itself at that page.
Please help. What happen to my phone?

Reflash stock CM11S, it's the best way to fix corrupted partitions. Not just through the recovery, but by doing around 8 to 10 fastboot flash commands according to partition details.

Hi there.
I have had Lollipop on my Nvidia Tablet for a few days now and had nothing but problems.
The internet is now a cluster**** of adverts as adblocker plus does not work correctly, and programs I used every day are now useless (sixaxis controller etc). I also miss the power control options and the chew on you have adjusting volume in apps and etc (priority bull crap pops up). I also have a 50% compatibility compared to Kit Kat. Is they a way to revert back to last os as I feel I have ruined my device.
I have my device bootloader unlocked, rooted and running CWM.
Kind regards
Alex
Adaway works fine for me. Most power options are still there, just in a different spot. And i don't chew on my tablet, so not sure what you are talking about there. It runs much better on 5.0 for me. Less RAM being utilized. Chrome is MUCH smoother than before. I felt like i was using my old touchpad til i got the upgrade.

I can only say that when I upgraded to Lollipop things were sluggish until I Factory reset and installed everyting from scratch. Now, I cant find one reason to go back... AdAway works great!
Best regards,
Carlos
My tablet still tastes like plastic, glass, and other materials. Did they promise chewing on it would get a new flavor?
Also not sure what you're talking about as far as app compatibility goes. Have only hit a couple very niche apps that don't port over. The advanced power options are hidden either in a power setting or battery setting widget, though.
You both just solved half my problems with adaway. Is they a way i can get the sixaxis app working again?

If my memory serves right, when you factory reset, you don't loose root.... but if you do loose it, it's not so hard to gain it back. that is well documented on another thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tablet/development/root-root-lollipop-t2945044

What i don't want to do is unlock the bootloader, thought you were on locked bootloader and rooted before the perform the factory reset.
I was having serious lag issues. I successfully restored to the official nvidia 1.2.1 update (last KitKat build) then relocked my boot loader, factory reset. Booted and back to kit kat, perfect, then downloaded the update fresh without my extra apps, applied, factory reset then booted. So far a hell of a lot better, not perfect but much more bare able. Kit kat shouldn't be faster, should it? Lol. Need custom ROMs with nvidia apps and a cool custom kernal.
Go to shield.nvidia.com sign up to developer. Then download the 1.2.1 KitKat image, unzip and place in a folder with adb and fastboot files, make sure your boot loader is unlocked. Put your device in boot loader then use the official flash all batch file. Then relock boot loader and factory reset through recovery. And you'll be downgraded. If you need help let me know. Just in case my model is the 16gb WiFi only model.
Just for the record the cause of all my lags were due to Facebook. Must have a memory leak. Installed it and performance and lag became terrible like before. I uninstalled it, left the beta programming and rebooted and all is good. Now to use a Facebook alternative. Lol.

Its a weird one. I can use Facebook on my oneplus one on an unofficial lollipop ROM perfect but not my shield tablet. Couldn't believe that was the culprit of all the serious lag! It was really unusable to the point i was going to downgrade to KitKat again and sell it and just use my shield portable. Or I had a bad device. Turns out it was just a Facebook issue. So I apologise nvidia! Lol. Just goes to show smaller companies and even individuals can put out better optimized applications. They should do a talon plus inspired version.

Try This!
While on KitKat I was rooted and had Philz recovery. I installed the Lollipop update and lost root but fortunately I still had my recovery.
I did the following to get root on lollipop with writable sdcard and managed to make my device extremely fast/snappy (better than ever)...
0. Download SuperSU v.2.27 zip and copy to sdcard -link- http://download.chainfire.eu/630/Sup...erSU-v2.27.zip
1. Reboot to recovery (No need for unlocking bootloader or changing kernel)
2. Do a factory reset and wipe cache and dalvic/art cache
3. In advanced menu select re-root
4. Now install superSU v.2.27 zip
5. Reboot system and let lollipop boot up
6. Goto settings > Battery > from menu SHIELD Power Control > Change Processor Mode from Optimized to Max Performance
7. Goto settings > Security > Check Unknown sources
8. Download and Install Seeder by LCIS from Play Store, check all options and run on moderate -link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...s.seeder&hl=en
9. from Play Store download Remount by Stephen and remount sdcard1 as rw -link- https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....remount&hl=en
or follow these steps by SuperPichu (see the lockked bootlader section) -link- http://forum.xda-developers.com/shie...lipop-t2946250
10. Reboot and Magic!
Hope this helps!

You can get the recovery images from nVidia here: https://developer.nvidia.com/develop4shield Make sure you get the tablet rom, I almost flashed the portable one lol. Only thing that sucks is you have to register as a developer and it took about 2 days until I was "approved".
Here's a step by step guide if you get hung up.. http://youtu.be/GsMo1tPlIFU?list=LL2pdV4KBs4sNR6r1zpwr-cQ but really just have adb installed and run the batch file that comes with it.
After spending maybe a week on Lollipop tho, I seriously couldn't be happier on Kitkat. Xposed for the win! Lollipops biggest qwirk has to be the pull down, no idea why it's not split like Kitkat. That and weird slow downs.

After a lot of research i downloaded the OTA 1.2.1 update from here, and i used the batch file too and then i realized i could just restore my backup file without any problem hehe, so i have a backup from lollipop and one of kitkat.
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Tablets/NVIDIA/NVIDIA-SHIELD-Tablet-LTE-US-Firmware-121.shtml
Lollipop is all the oppose to what android means to us, has a fresh look but doesnt worth it, i updated just because of the battery issues in kitkat, i guess lollipop is getting very qwirk because the devices are getting more powerful in gaming and multitasking so they are a more relevant market so cant have all freedom to modify and change the firmware..
News :
Starting today, i'll just upload the firmware if it has a change in it.
So you know there's no need to update the firmware if there's no change in it, save the hassle.
Tips :
* I've added checksum file for each firmware-only files in google drive, so you guys can see what's changed on every firmware-only release.
* If you experience sim card not detected after flashing firmware, don't worry, it's normal. do this, plug out and plug in your sim card tray, and restart your device.

yep i believe the Miui10 is in Alpha and currently being tested by a closed group of users. we should see public Beta releases towards the end of June.
Im just curious if there is any difference in battery consumption to previous version of MIUI.
I've tried it a couple of days ago. There are some visual changes like new notifications panel UI, recents UI, In-call UI etc. A bit more IOS-ish as some say.
First of all, if you consider flashing it;
- You need the Raupe/Blunden twrp to flash it, other recoveries end up with error 7.
- After flashing this build; twrp will ask for a decrypt password and no password will be correct. So your internal storage won't be mounted on twrp no way to fix it at the moment.
- Magisk 16.4 is able to root it, don't know about previous ones.
- If you consider flashing other roms, you have to do factory reset(format data) to get your internal be able to mount on twrp again.
- It doesn't have google apps as it's China specific, so you need to install google apps manually by Google installer apk or there are zip files for miui 10 ported gapps which give force closes randomly.
- Can be a daily driver since all is working.
- Xposed won't work.
Other than these hick ups, it's good initial build. Fast and smooth, can't tell about battery life since I haven't used it for a long time. There are secondary releases(8.6.5) for some devices so can be around for Mix too. Cheers.

I'm willing to give this a shot, thanks for the input ??
Ok trying it now and everything seems to be working good. A little laggy at the moment so I'm just letting it set in. I was hoping the camera would've gotten updated but same old crappy camera software from previous MIUI firmware. Hopefully when they do release the final version we'll get a updated camera but all in all this is a keeper till we get updated version on here, hopefully...

Ok going through settings and as far as I can tell I don't see face unlock feature. I highly doubt the mix will get seeing as how old it is now, I never use it anyway on other devices so it's not a big deal to me. Everything is running very smooth and fast, I'm liking the Android P style look a lot, more than how it looks on the pixel but that's just me.

You just cancel it and internal storage will be unable to use on twrp. If you flash other things, you need to do it by an OTG.

Oh yes yes, I always use OTG just in case. Thanks for the info.
I installed it, but I keep loosing the recovery, when I reboot it goes to the Miui recovery.
Is there a way to disable the factory recovery overwriting the twrp.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks.

i think you should flash this file in twrp :
https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/
after that the recovery shouldn't get replaced anymore.
That's weird I don't have any issues seeing my storage in TWRP, everything works.

@Fersho Is the lagfix necessary? I'm without that file a few days ago and it's still pretty fluid.
The only bug I have is: when calling via Bluetooth, it does not work and it is linked by speaker or in a normal way.
By the way, use the option to activate the overlay, it works wonders. I just need to show the battery.

Hello!
I have a decrypted Nora XT1944-4. I installed the vanilla-nosu rom and didn't flash the lag fix. It installed and booted fine. Everything seems to work except wifi. It connects to the network and I can connect to whatever google service (synchronize a gmail account in the Email app, google.com in the webview browser), but I cannot connect to anything else (duckduckgo.com gives ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED, F-Droid cannot connect or update).
I tried wiping Dalvik/ART, and cache, but the problem remains. I tried flashing through TWRP and fastboot, same problem. Why can I only connect to google? That was exactly what I was trying to avoid :/ Other phones connect fine in the same network.
Thanks
wifi issues

That is normal let it do its thing it will come along just give it time. I'm using Hannah my self works good . the first boot loops and then even after restoring your apps it boot loops again idk why but then it stays stuck on black screen then shut it off then turn it back on you got a functional ROM I mean I had todo a couple of things to it like sound was choppy while on stand by fix that any way flash this ROM again and let it do its thing it will work

I restored to stock, wiped Data, Cache and Dalvik. The phone booted fresh new. Then I flashed AOSP9 vanilla-nosu. Same problem. I open the webview browser, google.com connects, I can even search and watch youtube videos. Duckduckgo still gives me the same error. Then I tried the same with the gapps-su version, but same problem. The point is that I don't want gapps, I would like my phone to connect to anything but google (exactly the opposite of what I'm facing )

I think problems with WiFi just need a cache and dalvic wipe from recovery.
