Flash rom with stock recovery? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I root my S6 without trigering knox. But I know if I install custom recovery that will triger knox. So is it possible to install custom rom with stock recovery? Do I have to rename rom zip file as update.zip? Will that triger knox?
I am on 5.0.2 not 5.1.1 yet.
Thank you

Like the title says I have a t-mobile s6 running AOCG rooted with ping pong can I use flashify to flash a recovery now instead of Odin?
Yes you can use the twrp recovery image not the tar and just flash it with flashify

I alao tried it with flashify first time and it end in a bootloop
So better use odin

Yes, you can flash the .IMG file of TWRP through Flashify. Make sure you get the right version for your phone. It works, as I've done it a couple of times.
Asus Zenfone (4.4.2)
Do you have any version that works for Asus Zenfone 5 with KitKat 4.4.2?

Downgrade from 5.1.1 to 4.4

Hi!
I want to try battery on kk.
Can I install kk and how, are there any dangers?
Off course I will do a nandroid backup first from twrp, can I restore it later again from kk to 5.1.1?

I would prefer if there is some stock 4.4.4 rom, debloated, rooted, in a flashable zip file. Anyone knows of it?

No, you don't.
You prefer to take backups of your /sdcard/, flash 4.4.4 factory image, reflash TWRP, and THEN flash your 4.4.4 zip flashable, rooted ROM.

[Q] FlashFire and custom roms

Hi. Yesterday I've rooted my S6 with PingPongRoot and now I want to install the S6 Edge Port. Is it possible to flash this rom using Chainfire's tool? Will that trip knox? Or will flahing TWRP via flashify work?
AFAIK knox gets tripped only if you flash custom recoveries or kernels. The other limit is that flashfire doesnt support (for now) the aroma installer. Ask directly to the rom developer

flash 5.1.1 rom

Can some1 give me a tutorial to flash a 5.1.1 rom after 6.0.1 rom xtresolite ?
I flash bootloader and modem în Odin ? But where do i put the files ? Bl and ap?
And after that i flash the 5.1.1 rom ?
If it's stock ROM, just flash ROM in Odin. Then immediately boot into recovery (it will be stock recovery) and factory reset. Then boot ROM.

Flash stock ROM first, as per above. Then flash custom ROM You'll save yourself a lot of grief.

Any way to flash Custom ROMs using ODIN?

Hi,
I have a Canadian Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge running Android 7.0. Model SM-G935W8.
I was wondering if there is any possible way to flash a custom ROM using Odin.
I've heard about extracting the zip file and converting it to a .tar.md5 file, but I do not know how to do that.
If anyone knows about any applications to flash it or knows on how to do it properly, please give me step-by-step instructions.
Anything is greatly appreciated.

Yes, you read correctly, you can flash custom ROMs with Odin and yes they have to be converted to .tar.
But I believe they have to be stock based custom ROMs and not custom ROMs such as AOSP, CM or Lineages ROMs. Those you have to flash with custom recovery (CWM, TWRP, Philz, etc..)
Here's some info on creating .tar

Not with AOSP, Cyanogenmod, LineageOS and any ROMs based on these 3.
Only pre-rooted modified stock based ROMs.
