[Q] FlashFire and custom roms - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. Yesterday I've rooted my S6 with PingPongRoot and now I want to install the S6 Edge Port. Is it possible to flash this rom using Chainfire's tool? Will that trip knox? Or will flahing TWRP via flashify work?

AFAIK knox gets tripped only if you flash custom recoveries or kernels. The other limit is that flashfire doesnt support (for now) the aroma installer. Ask directly to the rom developer

[Q] Help with custom rom without tripping knox

This has been covered somewhere i'm sure, but i just want to check with my specifics. feel free to link me to a better place.
for now I'm referring to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s5/help/flash-tw-custom-rom-tripping-knox-t2892774
--I just successfully rooted via towelroot (by downgrading from 5.0 to 4.4.2) without tripping knox. Did superSU really "disable knox?"
--I want a 5.0 ROM, which has to be touchwiz (yuck!) because sprint requires occasional PRL updates to use their towers. so I'm looking a MOAR ROM
--In the past i've simply flashed twrp or philz recovery and been able to flash any ROM with ease, but now i hear any custom recovery trips Knox
--dev. rompnit says"You MUST be on the OA6 5.0 firmware to run this ROM!"
So my questions are:
1. has anybody heard of a way to flash a recovery (keeping 0x0)?
2. Will knox catch me if i simply Mobile Odin Pro to Stock 5.0 and MOP flash MOAR?
3. Step 23 of the above link says after flashing NeatROM he needed to "Extract and flash MODEM (load as CP) and BOOTLOADER (load as BL) in ONE STEP" Which are the correct ones for a sprint s5? I thought flashing a bootloader will trip knox?
anybody for a petition against the hoops big brother makes us jump through?
Any news?

G920FXXU2POGJ root?

Hello,
I just installed the 5.1.1 (G920FXXU2POGJ) Android version to my S6 (SM-G920F). Is there anyway (tripping or not tripping the knox - I already tripped the knox when installed a TWRP recovery) to get a root access?
I tried with CF-Auto-Root but it did not work.
Any solution?
Flash a custom kernal via TWRP.
But you posted this question in the wrong section bro.
Sent from my SM-G925F
cf-autoroot doesn't work for 5.1.1 firmware
For rooting G920F with 5.1.1 :
1. Download Odin3_v3.10.6.zip
2. Download twrp-2.8.7.1-zeroflte.img.tar
3. Download S6-UniKernel_v6-0001-ODIN.tar
Go to download mod and use with Odin for root (S6-UniKernel_v6-0001-ODIN.tar) and install custom recovery mode(twrp-2.8.7.1-zeroflte.img.tar).

The correct way to root s6?

I have Galaxy S6 running 5.1.1 stock rom.
The only reason I need root so xposed could be installed. What is the best way to root and install recovery without loosing any data?
Not worried about tripping knox etc.
Thanks

simple flash a custom recovery injected with root, like chainfire's or TWRP using odin

Root and Tripping Knox 5.0.2 ===> 6.0.1

I have just bought an S6, finally moving from LG G3 (where things were simpler to root).
I have spent a few hours reading about the possibilities of rooting, flashing whilst not tripping Knox and have a few queries regarding some of the procedures.
I am lucky enough to be on 5.0.2 (G920FXXU1AOCV) which is supported by PingPong root method and Kingroot. I would like to upgrade to Marshmallow without tripping Knox and therefore keeping my warranty.
I am just querying the steps required to do this, I am of the understanding that these are the steps:
1. Root with PingPong
2. Flash TWRP via Odin/Flashfire
3. Flash whichever marshmallow related rom, kernel, mods, xposed framework etc I desire through TWRP (or is Odin/flashfire the only method that doesn't trip Knox)?
Will root remain after flashing marshmallow?
Will I need to change the bootloader at all?
before flashing a marshmallow rom, you have to get the latest bootloader. i don't know if there is another way than flashing it through odin. using this method you lose your root.
also, if you install a different kernel, it's most likely to lose root too.
and with xposed, you need a deodexed firmware at the moment. it's recommended to install a deodexed rom with a clean install. i think, you'll lose root, too.
If you flash TWRP or custom kernel via any method (TWRP, Flashfire, Odin vs), knox will be tripped.
There's NO way to use 6.0.1&root without tripping Knox.

Quick question about custom recoveries

Does loading a custom recovery without rooting break knox or am I safe to do that?
Yes(trips Knox counter) and don't get a custom recovery becasue there are none currently supported for the S7 unless you root and get FlashFire.
