Minimum Size of Pen Window - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
I recently updated to lp and I noticed the minimum pen window size is larger than 4.4.2. Any ideas how to make it smaller?

As far as I have seen so far, only downgrading the 4.4.2. Same issue on the Note 10.1. Thanks for nothing Samsung.

Agree. It would be NICE if when the user drags the corner of an app to resize it the system would logically realize that they want a narrower window and at some point would force the app into a different orientation - for example if the tablet is in landscape orientation at some point while shrinking an app the app itself would jump to portrait mode to take less space. . OR if there was a way to force it to portrait etc.

Swiftkey

I REALLY want to use swiftkey. It seems to not "fit" properly on the note though. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm getting my Note later this week and was planning to use Swiftkey as well, so I'm interested in the answer to this.
Did you try both the tablet version and the phone version?

I did. Both had scaling issues

I am currently using Thumb keyboard without any issues. The dev are even adding support for this phone (so I have read in another forum).
I'm currently using tablet version and only think with (sometimes) wrong size are suggestions, on short words only since the font size decreases on longer words.

I bought SwiftKey some time ago already and really don't have any problems at all.
It did update a couple of times without any issue.

I tried both Swiftkey X and Swiftkey Tablet X on my phone and both worked fine. I decided to use the tablet version because in landscape it splits the keyboard so I can reach it better.
Swiftkey X works fine for me

I am aware that I can choose different layout but as I get used to it I find it more easier to use. My passwords consists of various numbers and letters and I find it easier to type as the numeric keys are present on the same screen
On Swiftkey X I decreased the long press to 250ms from 500ms so I just have to hold the letter for a split second to get a number. It's pretty fast.

Spare Parts -> turn off Compatibility?
The people who make Switkey are aware of the issue and working on a fix (lekky emailed them to enquire).
Waiting for a size fix then. Need also more predictions.

Swiftkey tablet x work fine:
ive got thumb keyboard, works fairly well here. it auto scales to suit the galaxy note when you choose the phone portrait setting. and you can also adjust the height of buttons and long press response times as well.

Nexus 7 UI on Motorola Xoom?

I know it sounds silly, with such a big screen, why would we want a UI that consumes so much of the screen? Well I think it would just be kinda neat to see it on the Xoom, who knows maybe people like it more? Is there any possibility of this happening? I have EOS 3 126 and it is running just fine.
Here's some more info for you, even though I don't have the answer.
Nexus runs phone UI, Xoom runs tablet UI.
Nexus can be tweaked to run tablet. My guess is its a build.prop tweak.
See that's what I thought cause that's how you get the Nexus 7 to run the tablet interface, so I don't know of the same thing can be done with a simple build.prop mod.
Sent from my Xoom
To get the phone UI, you need to change the DPI I believe. I tried it and my XOOM didn't boot, had to reflash my ROM. Probably not a good idea.
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
Same, I was messing with the DPI but after I did that it just wouldn't boot, which sucks.
Sent from my Xoom
I wish I had a link to the article so this wasn't such an anecdotal response but I'm 99% sure that I read the ui the nexus uses is actually an in between mode for 7ish inch screens. The thing I read said there was a phone, a 7" and a 10" mode. The only reason I bring this up is that I would be interested in seeing that other view too just to compare so if you find anything else on the subject please let us know.
Edit: http://liliputing.com/2012/07/how-to-change-the-nexus-7-user-interface-to-full-tablet-mode.html
That article has a little more detail on the three ui modes and lists the dpi of the nexus 7 (213). As well as what range to set it to to get it to display the full tablet mode. This might be a good place to start from to try to get the xoom to go down to the middle size ui mode

Not really, in landscape the notification tray pulls down covering only the left of the screen and in portrait it only covers the middle of the screen.

If anyone finds a ROM with nexus style ui plz post it I'd love to try it out on Xoom or gnex and won't get a n7 until Oct or DEC 25

I made a universal mod for this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1898907
I really like this on my Xoom, it makes the screen a little weirder to type on but that's only in the beginning, after a while you get used to it. It feels a little slow when dragging the notification window down but it feels faster in some other areas like scrolling through my pages of apps in the app drawer.

Sorry to double post, but I have to say, your universal mod is SO much better on my Wingray. Much faster, the bar is a lot bigger so the soft keys aren't so small and difficult to tap and it is just overall less glitchy, with the other mod, my Xoom restarted every time I held the power button, with yours everything works just fine. Thank you so much.
Oh and the keyboard is so much bigger and better to type on, it seems the other one makes the screen size feel smaller so it all is very much wasting screen real estate.

Floating Notes ( > 1)

Any idea if there is a program that allows you to "float' more than 1 (handwriting capable) note on top of other programs?
S Note can only float a maximum of one note on screen at a time, and it's impossible to recall saved notes in floating form.
The only one I could find was this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1803284

I'd suggest using (or trying) Snap Pad (free or ad-free).
It's not a floating note but rather a pad that comes out when you drag the snap region (that normally stays invisible).
So it can be opened and resized anytime (without having to launch it) and also while using other apps. It's also possible to adjust the pad's opacity and make it semi-transparent.
Pros
It's designed for the S-Pen (so supports pressure sensitivity and changing from pen to eraser with the button)
It's very simple
Cons
No Undo-Redo function
You have a single page to use

What do you mean?
I have downloaded it (I even have just decided to buy the ad-free version in GooglePlay) and it's fully working. I have a Gnote 10.1 (GT-N8000) - stock Rom.
Maybe there's some sort of conflict between the app installed and downloaded from SamsungApps and the new one offered by GooglePlay. In my case (to be sure) I uninstalled the previously app downloaded from SamsungApps before re-installing the one sold by GooglePlay.
One difference I see is that GooglePlay offers both versions (the "ad-free" and the paid one) whilst SamsungApps, at the moment, offers just the free version.
Re: Floating Notes ( > 1)
This is the adfree version and the free version says the same thing too. I'm running BaDaB!ing's rom with the N8013, 4.1.2 version.
Edit: I got it from the Samsung Apps store, and I have to say, this app is what I have been looking for lately. Thanks.

Re: Floating Notes ( > 1)
I downooaded the free version from google play this afternoon. I liked it a lot and got immediately the paid version. Both work like a charm on my 10.1.
It is a useful app that does not replace any other note taking tool. Probably not worth more than the dollar it costs, but still nice to have

I think the same
Its best side is its simplicity of use and its very "basic" functionality.
Anyway we could maybe ask the developer for something more (not much, just a little bit): something like undo/redo buttons, multiple pages, and (maybe) the possibility to manage more than one single note...

Yes... there's some lag for me too. Moreover if you use your finger to pull it out and it's not precisely placed on the pad's border it may happen than while pulling the pad out you leave some unwanted ink in the note
For me, it's one of the most important apps as I'm an avid notetaker (college). The best part is if a professor mentions something, I can just use the pad and write it down. The only thing I'm concerned about is how will it affect the battery life. Keeping the settings on "low" for 2 of the options (can't recall at the top of my head) makes it flow a little better.
The closest Floating note app, that I could find is cPaint (Cover Paint) (Floating Paint)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=coverpaint.ragingtools.com&hl=en
Pros:
4 notes
Transparency
Line thickness
Resize
Minimize
Color Selection
Cons:
No eraser (negates the usefulness of transparency feature)
No S-Pen pressure support

Screen Shot Lasso Size?

Am I doing something wrong or is there a size limit to the screen shots you can capture using the lasso (pressing button on s pen while "circling" the desired portion of the screen)?
When Im using polaris and I want to grab something from it to paste to lecture notes I use this, but it seems if I try to grab too much it does nothing.
Same here duder. I think it has to do with the speed at which make the capture. I like to add a tail to the capture to website it takes. It helps sometimes.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
If what you're trying to lasso is large, you're better off using the pen to capture the entire screen and edit it after the fact. There's a five second timer when using lasso dynmaically and probably a size limitation too. That doesn't apply when you're editing a screen capture taken with the pen or when editing one from the gallery.

Idk why it's like that for you guys, but I can keep drawing the screenshot shape as long as I hold down the S-Pen button. Tested it for at least 10 seconds just now. I'm on the stock 4.1.2 USA update.

I tried it on a note 10 and after starting the app, sometimes I activate it in the left bottom corner I cannot see what Iam doing unless I change anything (color, tool, delete), then what I wrote or painted show up. (Android Revolution HD ROM)
Also an adjustable size of the pen / brush would be cool. Oh, and to forward / share the taken image to any other app I want.
And last but not least some better high definition pics same size would be awesome.
edit. Yeah, palm rejection must-need and that the android back button is usable. Well, it lights up but the app does'nt react.
But so far, useful - because it's not a screenshot I annotate, it's an overlay to a running screen.
Hope the creator will read this.

Maybe because there aren't many spen tablets out there so far.
You can take a screenshot and annotate just by pressing and holding the S-Pen button & hold the S-Pen on the screen.
So unless you need the background to be active, You probably don't need this extra software

After you write on something just take a snapshot and share it. I do get the brush size request, but this is a nice start. No issues you are describing using stock JB. But I don't use it every day either to notice it.

You can leave a note on your home screen in your own writing. Good for video creation on YouTube while doing a live filmed demo in realtime, as a whiteboard or blackboard presentation.
