My xt1034 has worked great for the last year and seven months, but has developed an issue in the last week. Basically ill put it on the charger and it shows its plugged in and charging but very slowly. I left it plugged in for 4 hours and only got 36%. I then noticed that it also will charge for a while and then begin to lose charge. I've used 3 different chargers with different cables. My primary charger is 2 amp and have used it on other phones since and it still works like a charm. The phone is stock and not rooted, I've also tried cleaning the charge port and factory reset. Also makes no difference whether or not the phone is off on. Sorry if this is long winded just wanted to be thorough . Any ideas would be appreciated because at this point i am stumped!
I'm pretty sure the maximum rated amperage for charging the moto g is 1.5A, but don't quote me on that. Have you tried replacing the battery?

Hi, ok so i've not used my Transformer much this past year and its been sitting unused for about a month. I come to use it and I cannot seem to give it any charge.
I've tried 2 diff charge cables, numerous different usb chargers (official plus others of 1a-2a. I also have the keyboard dock for it which i've not used for a longer amount of time which I cannot seem to charge either. Co-incidence? too much so, surely?
Any ideas? I've not used a different charger before so i'm not sure if i should even expect another one to work or not.

The charger should be 15v. It may take a while before it even shows that it is charging if it is completely flat!
You can try some of Frederuco's suggestion HERE
Those batteries are never supposed to completely drain to 0% or you have a high risk of never getting them to charge again
I would try plugging it in powered off, in to the PC for a whole day and night and see if you can coax it back to life with a trickle charge
Might end up needing new batteries though
cool, well i froze the psu and tried to charge it via usb port.. seems to kick the tablet into life again. yay!
will try the same with the keyboard once this is charged.
thanks

YAY !!!
I've plugged my Shield into the charger like 4 or 5 hours ago, now I was wondering why it was still charging, so I turned it on and the battery was at 60%, charging.
When I plugged it in, it was at like 10%.
The first charge took quite long too, I was hoping it charges faster by the second or third charge. But it doesn't.
Do you guys experience the same thing or should I try a different charger?
I measured the output of the charger and the results seem to be normal: 5,28V @2,48A

I would suggest trying a different cable and charging with your Shield powered down.
I did charge it when it was completely off, I also tried an other cable and charger and that didn't seemed to help much.
At least.. it's fully charged now after charging it for almost an entire day...
Do what most device owners do.. Charge the stuff overnight and don't worry about how long it takes... Since you are asleep and not using it anyways.
I think is a problem with you HW i mean you have a defect shield, take your waranty and return the shield to the store you bought it, or call nvidia, have you tried to calibrate your battery ? maybe that will help.
how do I calibrate it?
And I'm not sure if I can RMA it because I'm from Europe and bought it from a private Ebay dealer.
New though, not used.
edit: I noticed that it charges faster when its turned on. weird behavior isn't it?

To calibrate a battery such as the one the shield uses, you have to fully discharge it till the shield shuts off. Then leaving it off fully charge it. Do not use it while charging or interrupt the charging.
My battery seems to drain faster than it charges. I bought the phone off of craigslist and it did not come with the original charger and cable. I did have a nexus 4 and its original charger. I use the Nexus 4 charger, which is rated at the same 1.2a. Is it the charger or is there something wrong with my phone? I read a lot about slow charging and ppl searching for the right charger. I just want to be able to use the phone at night with a low battery and plugged in. Otherwise the battery does last a long time and seems healthy. I am able to go the whole day without a charge but i then cannot use it while I am home. Any advice is appreciated. I could prob RMA it if needed.
Just do a fresh install using Google's own images and see if it fixes the issue

This is a fresh install. I originally received the phone with Android L Preview. It was buggy and there was an unknown service consuming a large amount of battery power. I did a fresh install of 4.4 from Google.
I had the same issue with the stock nexus 5 charger. Turned out something went wrong and it wasn't providing enough current about 250mAh. I switched charger to a higher one and everything works as it should, charges in about 1.5hours. I suggest you download GSam App that shows the current while charging.
In settings/battery, when the device is charging, does it show USB or AC charging?
If USB charging, get a different charger and/or cable.
I got that app and I'm a little unclear on the readings. I see a positive number and a negative number. I got a -623 on the charger I have been using at work which is for a dell venue and I believe 2 or 2.1a. That one does seem to charge the phone OK. I'm at home now on my nexus charger and I have 431. I have a 131 not plugged in.
It says ac not usb

I started to read that but my issue is really with charging. My battery lasts a long time. I can go all day without a charge but then by the night it's in the teens. This normally would be OK but that plugging it in doesn't stop the drain. I do a lot on my phone before going to sleep, laying in bed. Now I can't because the phone just dies even while plugged in. I ordered the blackberry playbook chargers mentioned in another post. Ill have to see when the come in.
use a toothpick and clean the contacts on the usb, look for any lint and such... sometimes a bad connection may not let it charge properly.
Just use another charger, or cable and check the mA readings. - 1000, give or take, is good. Much less and it's the cable or charger.
Gsam can show you the value in the main screen... And it's a great app in general. ?
My nexus 5 went to 0% battery one night and died. I tried charging it with 4 different chargers, some with usb some outlet and a wireless charger to no avail. I then purchased 2 new batteries and the phone was able to turn on with the replacement ones. However they would not charge. On the battery status screen it would go from saying Charging (on AC or USB depending on how i was trying to charge it) for 5~ seconds to saying Not Charging. The charging icon was still on the little toolbar battery icon but it would not charge. So those two new batteries are dead :good:. So I thought maybe software issue, I had enough juice to get in the bootloader and flash back to 4.4.4 which would still not allow it to charge. Then I started flashing to other versions and eventually back to 5.1.1 to no avail. I replaced the charging port with one from my brothers nexus 5 and it still would not work. My battery and charging port worked in his phone however.
Now I don't know what to do! This is the first phone I've really had to research about bootloaders and roms and stuff so I'm fresh.
TL;DR: Phone goes from charging for 5 sec to not charge with different software versions (4.4.4, 5.1.1 +more), with many different chargers (including one that came with phone), with new battery and new charging port.
Thanks.
Mine did that with a new battery also. The new battery was a dud--I contacted the seller, who sent me another battery, and that one does charge.

I've tried 3 different batteries including my brothers nexus 5 battery which charges in his phone so I am confident its not a battery issue now.

if the actual USB port is working on ur brother's and so is the battery, i am afraid then u have a bad Motherboard...
theres a Texas Instruments BQ24192 I2C controller chip, that is what regulates charging, such as voltage, etc...
if it doesnt even respond to wireless charging, that may be bad https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+5+Teardown/19016#s53734
that would be my guess....
Well technically it responds to it but it only lasts for a few seconds. Wireless charging and wired charging get a response from the phone by changing it to say charging on ac or usb or whatever but it just goes back to saying not charging after ~5 seconds. Is this still a bad mother board you think? Is it worth it to try and purchase a motherboard or just get a new phone?
Any solution for this? Came later but did come to this problem.
the last time my OPO isn't functioning as it should whenever i charge and use my phone at the same time (lowest brightness and no bluetooth) my phone loses percentages. Last night I left my phone in the charger finding it being 20% less then i put it in the charger. other times when i put my phone off in the charger it gains 10% per hour. I have not boot loaded, flashed or done any of that stuff my Rom COS is 12.1 and i have read that there are several others with this problem. also I have read that using another rom will solve this problem. when i tried flashing after installing the TWRP doesn't work and i can't get in recovery-mode.
Im pretty sad that my OPO is having these problems. does anyone has some suggestions on what to do?
Also i had various battery managers who said charging would only take 2 hours and in reality it took 24 h+.
thanks for reading
What charger and cable are you using? Exactly what TWRP did you flash?
As stated by @Heisenberg, the wall adapter/cable are an important factor. Most third party USB wall adapters are 1-1.5 Amps, while the OPO uses a 2 Amp adapter. It could also be a kernel issue, though i havent heard of those with COS 12.1
EDIT: Forgot to mention that it could be the battery as well. I've had my OPO for about a year, and lately it has been charging slowly as well, regardless of software. Some battery degradation is normal in LiPo and LiION batteries.

I want to correct you on one part brother, hope you don't mind.
It doesn't matter even if you use third party USB wall adapters, because your OPO draws only 1.2A of current irrespective of the adapter output. That is the reason why it takes long time to charge. The fast charger provided by the OnePlus is of no use as OPO doesn't take the advantage of it(lack of quick charge feature)
This is not applicable if you tweak it(Custom kernel)

Unless you're using a 1A charger (Which many cheap drugstore ones are) or charging off of a PC, since the phone cant draw more than is being output.
