What other carriers will this work with ? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I've finally upgraded from my Verizon S3 and am contemplating selling it locally. What I've seen with a lot of people who buy used phones is them wanting to use them with other carriers. So, does anyone know what carriers this can be flashed to ?

I've used mine on straight talk. I've seen other people use them on AT&T and even TMobile but I never have myself

I know the safe carriers would be those that use Verizon's network:
Page Plus
Straight Talk
Net 10
It does have a SIM card and GSM radio so in theory it should work on ATT and TMo but I'd probably not tell people it will.

That's very true. Realistically it should work on any carrier but we all know how VZW makes it tough on nearly everyone

Is it possible to use L710 S3 on Verizon?

I apologize ahead of time if this question is being asked in the wrong section. If so, please redirect me.
I mistakenly bought S3 L710 for Sprint even though I am currently under Verizon 2 year plan. The price on ebay was cheaper for the sprint version and I jumped on it without double checking. I have read online that the hardware is (essentially) the same and they both have 4G LTE technology. My question is whether it's possible to activate this phone on Verizon and then flash the Verizon's software.
PS: I have been reading this forum for a bit and it appears that some other people are trying to cheat with ESN/IMEI manipulation. I am not trying to do anything of the sort, all I am trying to do is activate a Sprint version phone of S3, that I paid full price for on ebay, on Verizon network.
Thanks in advance.
David
I want to know that too.I have sprint gs3 but i dont want sprint and waiting to flash it to Virgin Mobile but might flash to Verizon if i can use their 4g.
seeing as how the Sprint version does not have a SIM card slot (it's embedded), and all verizon LTE phones require an LTE SIM card, then no, you can't.

Oh so ever since Verizon got LTE now they got sims?So sprint is the only one that has cdma?
No, pure and simple.
If you use nefarious methods and spoof your ESN, you could get it to connect to VZW's network, but you would only have CDMA, since the LTE radios on Sprint and Verizon use completely different frequencies, and they can't be told to listen elsewhere.
Turn it back around on eBay and get (most) of your money back and put that toward the Verizon one. It's the only way it will work.

[Q] Unlock Nexus 5 Sprint

Hi all, I would like to know if it is possible to unlock the phone that is locked to Sprint. Would flashing the stock firmware do the trick?
Thanks.
It won't be locked on Sprint. It's the exact same phone that's being sold in the Play Store.

BestBuy is selling the Sprint Nexus 5 off contract, but Sprint is CDMA right? I am an international user and here we only have GSM, so that phone would not be an option for me?

You are correct about the international part, but the flavor Sprint is selling is CDMA & GSM and works on AT&T, T-Mobile (both GSM carriers) as well as Sprint and other mnvos.

Hi, thank you verry much for your reply. So this phone should work with any GSM carrier or only US GSM carriers? And it should not need unlocking? I'm tinking about buying one but I'd like to be 100% sure that it will work here.
Thanks.

If I understand correctly, according to this table it should work correctly, I am from Argentina, and both carriers listed seem to have Voice, Text and 3G.

I have no idea. North America gets D820, while the rest of the world gets D821. Go compare their bands somewhere like gsmarena.
The Nexus 5 will work on any GSM carrier for voice and 3G, no issues there. Only issue will be LTE (4G). U.S version (D820) has different LTE radio versus Euro (rest of the world version (D821). If you don't care about LTE, then you're fine and good to go with any GSM carrier in your native Argentina.
I have been told that the Nexus 5 sold in BestBuy is CDMA only. What is it, I'm not sure if the guy from BestBuy I talked to was correct about this information. Thanks

Beware - Sprint has never sold a phone which was totally SIM-unlocked. Until there is confirmation that someone bought the Sprint sold/marketed phone and put in a US SIM card that worked, I would not take the chance that the phone is unlocked.

I called 3 local best buys, checking on getting a Nex5 in hand as opposed to waiting on one from google. I asked each wireless-dept worker if I can buy the Nexus 5 for the full off-contract price and then go use it at t-mobile, I further then let them know I want to buy the Nexus 5 "unlocked" so I could use it on whatever carrier I choose.
All 3 people say no-go, must use on sprint.
Sooo - uneducated sales people? or is sprint locking the Nex5 before they send it to best buy? I took no chance and bought from play store.

You cannot believe anything the Droids at BestBuy tell you. They want you to activate the phone on Sprint so BB can collect the commission. Why would you buy the N5 at BB anyway? You like paying an extra $150 vs the Play Store?

its actually only $100... and deduct off $15 for shipping from google... and that I had $50 in best buy rewards from buying a dishwasher... I figured $35 to have it in my hand on the 8th would be cool. But in the end just ordered from play store and will have to wait 2-3 weeks.

ok heres the kicker the Spectrum is the real issue here. LTE bands are split on the 2 versions of Nexus 5's (NA (north America) and RoW (rest of World))
http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/Q4A1X1oAOSs
compare those lte bands to this link to see what lte bands your service uses.

Can I use international S6 on Verizon

Previously on the S4 I came to the conclusion I could use the international variant of it on Verizon as it had the proper CDMA bands for the job, is this the same case with the S6? Could I buy the international one that is unlocked and use it on VZW network without problems and if I have them what would they be? Going to do my own homework of course but I always want XDA's opinion on things like this.

I was actually in the process of typing up this thread myself! I am also interested in the answer to this one. And can the international version be rooted? I need me some Greenify!
Edit: After speaking to a Verizon rep online, I was told "In theory, it should work; but we cannot guarantee device usability and stability from non-verizon devices".
Any other XDA thoughts?

The International one is fully bootloader unlockable and rootable from the start, hence why I want it over this locked down one. Though someone suggested to me in a PM to post this in the international forum so I will try that and update here with whatever results I get.

From what I could find it won't work because it's GSM and won't work with CDMA carriers. Here is a link to the info I found.
I remember reading that the Verizon and Sprint variants have a separate Qualcom modem in them to connect to their CDMA and LTE bands.
I have the US Verizon Galaxy S6 as well as my wife now. Currently in Cancun using a popped in TelCel SIM card seeing crazy 4G speeds on the hotel strip area.
So yea. The S6 from Verizon is killer with foreign SIMs.

Can i ask what this has to do with OPs question?
Sorry I just reread the post and thought it was referencing using the vzw version abroad.
You can delete my post if it offends you that much. Was just trying to help because I just went through the process of using it in Mexico for the first time.
It's not that big of a deal, I just thought I was missing something
No worries here ...
Any answers yet? Thanks.
Just want to let you all know the international version will not work on Verizon.
I have one was going to sell on craigslist and we met at verizon and it will not recognize the mobile network.
Im still trying to sale this thing lol

You cannot buy them for use on Verizon. Straight talk is several different resellers. But verizon no. Verizon is a cdma carrier. AT&T and factory unlocked phones are GSM. For Verizon you'd need a Verizon phone or sprint phone.
People DONT sell fakes on Swappa as its not allowed.

Yes ill stick with att I know they work with st. As far as fakes not allowed we know people lie and cheat and not follow rules so is there some type of guarantee swappa makes that every phone is genuine? They wouldnt even answer my question about what happens when some one sells me thier in contract phone (wich at that point would have a clean imei) and then stops paying thier bill 3 months later and they block the phone? Wich is why I'm only looking at phones saying unlocked there again Noway to prove I guess. there's gotta be one thing to check or get pic of that proves its real

First off as I said above AT&T phones WONT work on Verizon, which is what you asked. Yes they will work on ST AT&T, ST T-Mobile, but will not work on ST Verizon. If you buy it expecting to be on Verizon's network you'll be disappointed. Straight talk is sold across several different networks.
Well if you'd read about Swappa when someone sells there phones they HAVE to enter an IMEI for one and in which will tell Swappa if it's on a paid account EDGE, NEXT, etc. and which is not allowed there.
The only thing that could possibly happen is if someone reports it stolen after selling and In which there's no way to find that out.
I have sold a ton of things on Swappa as well as buying on Swappa.
Also if you would look at a phone listing you would see they have Feedback, which I'm sure someone that has sold a few + phones with no issues I'm sure Your not going to buy a fake or junk phone.
There's no real thing or pic to prove anything. I could sell you a note 1 and make it say it's a note 4 in the software but just a screenshot you might not ever know lol.
Also a bit of a hint unlocked phones cannot save you from that unless your in another country. If you have a dead IMEI on say a T-Mobile phone even if it's unlocked you still cannot use it on AT&T

Thanks for the info! I may not be explaining well I'm not going to verizon I'm wanting to use straight talk who advertises you can bring any GSM phone when I called was told att brand works best. I thought the other was verizon but like u said that's CDMA maybe t-mobile was the other compatible? Idk anyway I'm happy to hear about the contract phone not being issue I had read that could happen maybe it wasn't a payment issue after all. Maybe it had been reported stolen after he bought.

I'm pretty sure IMEI checks for ATT phones tell you nothing about the contract status of a phone, only if it's been blacklisted (lost or stolen)--
TMO phones OTOH will receive the additional information on EIP status, in-contract status, etc.
ATT should be forced to provide the same AFAIC.
You can use CDMA phones on Straight Talk. The kit you buy gives you the network info for CDMA phones and the SIM card for GSM.

AT&T Gear S2 on other carriers possible?

I got an att gear s2 but I don't have att service so I wanted to know if I can use it to connect to let's say T-Mobile since its an esim.
Unfortunately this is why American carriers, at least that's what my knowledge covers, f&#king suck! Out comes this new technology that for the first time will allow people to have the potential to use any carrier with the same hardware, and then carriers like AT&T refuse to unlock them.
Yes, I called AT&T and T-Mobile and AT&T doesn't unlock watches. I hope someone finds a way to somehow port the T-Mobile software over to the AT&T hardware.
The esim should be universal right? Like it should work for any carriers. If so wouldn't it work if we pay for an unlock code? Even tho we wouldn't be inserting another sim, the imei would be released to be used by other carriers. Does it make sense at all? Lol
My n6 was like that. It couldn't be used by other carrier until I unlocked it and its imei was released from att to be used by others.

The problem I noticed is the fact that there are custom settings for AT&T and so even if you unlocked it, I think you would need to still flash the appropriate software. I'm just guessing though.
It's really frustrating that I've got the first big consumer device using an eSIM and I can't take advantage of it's most basic and essential feature.
Any updates on this? The AT&T watch is like half the price as T-mo and I'm interested in using AT&T watch on T-mobile if possible
Any updates? I just switched mobile carriers from ATT to TMobile and would like to use my watch on their network
I have the S2 Classic SM-R735AZKAATT (for AT&T obviously) but I'd like to have it set up with T-Mobile.
Can I take this into T-Mobile and set up service? If so, anyone know how much?
