Pesty Visual Voice Mail App -How do I kill it? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I got the phone I was able to make the paid wanna-be app go to sleep and not bug me. The latest Samsung update causes a message in my notification bar that CAN NOT be deleted, "10 voice mail messages" I have tried everything with out success to remove the notification. Even after killing the app via FORCE STOP and Delete Data. When I click on the notification it auto-dials my boost mobile voicemail account automatically. When I check my voice mail at boost by logging in there is "zero" voice mails in the box.
After restarting the phone the notification does not appear until about 3 minuets after, then I get the notification back again.
My S6 is NOT rooted.
How do I solve this?

Google Voice - Notification Bar Bug?

Hi everyone,
Anyone else having an issue with voicemail notifications after installing Google Voice?
I constantly have a new voicemail notification in my bar that is driving me crazy. I have no new messages and even deleted all previous messages but cannot get this notification to go away.
To be more specific it is the phone's own voicemail notification icon that will not dissapear. I have voice set to text an alert when I get a voicemail, so I'd like there not to be any notifications in the bar. I disabled notifications within Google Voice's settings but it appears to be the stock alert that I cannot disable.
Thanks in advance.
Solved, there was a message in my carrier inbox that my phone was trying to access from google voice.

Constant E-mail Sound Notifications?

Stock Inspire
Using stock e-mail program
If I have unread e-mail messages, the phone will beep with the sound notification every time it checks for mail, until I open the e-mail app. Even if I have not received any new mail, it will beep when it checks for mail until I open the program.
So if I receive a message at 1pm, and it it set to check for mail every 10 minutes, I will receive a sound notification at 1:10, 1:20, 1:30, etc. until I actually open the e-mail app.
Is this normal? Is there a setting I can chage where it will only beep once upon receipt of a new message? I looked thru the settings and couldn't find anything.
Thanks.

Anyone else experiencing this?
This is happening for me too on Gmail.
It is also happening with my txt message. In addition to that, when it plays my txt msg notification, at the very same time it plays my default sound (so it is playing two sounds at the same time).
Are there setting for these that I haven't seen yet?
Thanks.

Do you have a third party messaging program like Handcent or Chomp installed?

How do you turn off specific notifications?
I just received my Inspire today and I'm having similar issues.
I've used Windows Mobile and iPhone for years. This is my first Android phone.
Everything is right out of the box with the stock ROM and no additional apps loaded. The only thing I did was setup my Exchange email accounts.
With Windows Mobile and the iPhone I was able to turn off notifications for new emails, but leave it on for text messages and calendar reminders. I receive a large number of emails and I need to have the email notification sound and vibration turned off.
So far I have found where to set your notification sound and where to turn off all notification sounds. I have not figured out how to turn offf just the email notification sound.
Each program has its own notification settings.
Go to mail -> menu - > more - > settings -> notification settings and there you are.
In gmail - menu -> more -> settings -> scroll down to email notifications
Messages - menu -> settings -> received notification

Thanks for the quick response.
An an Android newbie, I was looking for it in the main settings app, not in the mail program itself. I was able to turn off the email notifications and keep the other notifications on.

That is one of the big difference in iOS and Android. In Android you use the menu button within the app you are using to set the specific settings for that app. In iOS you go to the settings area to change setting for all of the apps. It took me a while to get used to when I made the switch last year. I got used to it and now it just makes sense to change settings within the program, not have to leave the program and do it somewhere else.

You have to call your voice mail and delete the massage.
You cant turn it off with a setting, might be able to do something if you're rooted (I also find it annoying and never found a solution besides the one I offered you).
Just listen to the voicemail

There may be an issue. Even after deleting the voicemail and rebooting the phone, the voicemail notification remains. I think this was an problem with an older version of android too...
I find out a way to get rid of the constant vm notification. I cleared the data for the phone app. The notification disappeared immediately. I'll have to see what happens after I get another VM.

GMail Notification in Status Bar is WONKY?

Don't know how else to put it...
I noticed that if I double-tap the gmail notification on the AOD, I will be taken directly into the email message but the gmail notification does not clear/get dismissed if I just hit the home button. It will dismiss if I hit the back button within the gmail app and go back to the inbox.
However, when I receive 2+ gmails, the notification works properly and dismisses immediately when the app is launched from the AOD notification shortcut.
I thought it was just my phone but I tested it out on my wife's S8+ as well and the same issue <-- she hadn't noticed since she didn't know the AOD notifications were shortcuts...she thought they were redundant notifications so she would just click on the notification through the shade and enter the app (which works correctly and dispatches the gmail notification promptly).
This only occurs when you receive ONE (1) email and enter the gmail app thru the AOD notification. <-- I guess it's a bug (or does Samsung intend to say it's a feature????). Being kinda OCD, it bugs me. But I had to make sure since I just performed a factory reset as my gmail app was crashing on me all day and only a factory reset cured it (yes, I tried force disable, clear cache, clear delete from both the gmail app & google play services; remove account and add my gmail account back; nothing worked except for a full system factory restore and then a manual set up)...<--Ahh, I miss being able to TWRP, use Titanium Backup and do whatever the hell I wanted with my Nexus 5 (and the only reason I had to let it go was that it won't hold a charge for more than 4 - 6 hours tops now).
Roll call and let me know if you guys are facing the same issue. I'd like Samsung to fix it since I don't face this issue on my Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 tablet.
Thanks!
