had a someone flash a galaxy s4 u.s. cellular bad esn to pageplus yesterday. first time having a phone flashed & first time meeting this person. he also unlocked an htc droid dna verizon for me. i just bought cdma ws & used him because he also let me watch to try to learn the software. i have 2 queations: 1) he used an app called "unlock samsung online" to unlock the htc. wondered why he didnt use cdma ws. it can be done with ws right? 2) also, he said to unlock a phone using cdma ws it needed to be rooted 1st. is that right?

k phone unbricked before but got it back
Basically trying to figure out how to downgrade the sprint Galaxy S4 ( L720 ) but it has the NG2 baseband. Trying to get it to work with tmobile & the employee there said I had to downgrade below 4.4.2 so I get it to work domestic. As of right now unlocking it with the MSL at 4.4.2 or higher just unlocks it internationally.
I have no idea where to start considering i thought i bricked it before.

Hello everyone,
My girlfriend was playing with her phone, and accidentally deleted almost 2,000 pictures from the ATT GalaxyS4, which of course were not backed up.
I tried looking for various data-recovery tools, but they all require a rooted phone. I tried to root it with the Kingo app, and using towelroot, but both failed. I am aware you can also do it downloading an older firmware, with the help of Odin, then using towelroot, then flashing with the NJ4 firmware again, but I am afraid using this method will eliminate or overwrite any trace of the invisible "deleted" photos still left on the internal memory.
Does anyone have any suggestions / ideas on how to safely either root this phone, or restore the photos?
Appreciate any reply/info/help. I have spent hours looking into all this and am pretty new to it, all to no avail.

I like in Canada and i'm with TELUS... anyway i bought this phone on ebay and it was 150 dollars great deal... I have always just bough an unlock key without issue but i guess this model i535 is different ( damn you verizon)/
I just want to unlock it so i will be able to use my local Telus...
the phone is running 4.42 and kernel 3.4.0
if someone could please let me know the EASEIST way to unlock this - I have never rooted a phone before but have to learn some how! is there no other way to unlock this than rooted it?

I found the pre-rooted ROM. I know it might sound like a pretty dumb question, so if you direct me to a right thread, I will figure out myself. Thanks for your help!

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
Depends. Are we talking about SIM unlocking, of bootloader unlocking? Both may have been achieved already, but I think you are talking about the latter (if the former, then earlier Samsungs had the unlock code stored in nvram - don't know about later models).
In either case, best to ask here:
