[Completed] [Q] can't boot device after formatting system - XDA Assist

I tried to get rid of gapps on my Cyanogenmod Nexus 4. I was told that in order to do that, I need to /format system in CWM. I did this, but the device won't let me install the new Cyanogenmod ROM from /sdcard (I can select it, but it just says "Can't open" and "Installation aborted"). When opening up adb on my PC, adb says "device not found". The phone won't boot. What do I do?
Thanks
EDIT: Installed PdaNet drivers and now it was recognized on adb again. I sideloaded the new Cyanogenmod image (don't know if that's the proper way to do it) and then selected reboot in CWM, and it is starting into Cyanogenmod, but it only gets as far as "Optimizing apps" and when it's done, it just starts all over again. I would really appreciate some help on this, as I cannot use my phone currently.
EDIT again: After wiping all my data, I finally was able to get back into a newly installed Cyanogenmod.. To my surprise, even after /format system and wiping all my data, all of the Google apps are still installed on the device. Is there no way to get rid of them?

TWRP won't mount anything

apologies if this has been covered already.
I have an Asus Transformer Infinity TF700T, I installed cynogenmod 10 and gapps, and then wouldnt boot past splash screen, so I found out to install a new bootloader. after I did that, I could boot into Android, but it was like a brand new installation. My apps were all gone (which may or not be normal). I had to install a file manager and I found that my files are still there, so I wanted to reattempt a google app installation because I didn't have any google apps. When I booted, It requested a password. I have no idea what this password is supposed to be, and I can't find any info anywhere. so i gave up and hit cancel and nothing is mounted. I tried to mount stuff, but the screen seem unresponsive when i click those areas. I cant clear any data or anything because it isnt mounted, I cant restore my backup because nothing is mounted.
Please help me. Thanks in advance
I may have found something. Im using goomanager to install a later version I think
Ok, that fixed it. I just wish I could get all of the apps.

[Q] perpetuel rebooting

hi! i was using rom toolbox. then i've changed something in the phone theme. they asked me to reboot the device to apply changings. and then they asked me to choose between "reboot" and "fast reboot". i've choosen fast reboot to see how fast the phone would reboot. after that the phone is rebooting again and again continuesly without completing the boot. please some one help me! i am using a kind of chinese dual sim android named sphs on hsdroid.with amr7 processor,216M ram.the internal memory doesn't reach 200M. i was able to root it after long days of research with vroot. i am realy sorry i've not made a nandroid backup. and i am realy sorry too for the bad english. i am in in Burkina Faso, here we do not speak english.and sorry again,i do not have frequent acces to the internet and i would like to find some usefull and helpy answers the next time i'll be connected.someone save me!!!
The problem wasn't upon rebooting.
The problem came upon when romtoolbox edited your system to theme specific files.
Sometimes things go wrong when editing system files. Now from what you're saying, that your device keeps rebooting over and over again. This is called a "bootloop".
Possible ways to fix this issue.
(If you have a custom recovery installed)
1. Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache. Then reboot device. If no luck then...
2. Download a ROM for your device, send it to your device, wipe Data and Cache, flash the .zip and reboot. If no luck then.
(Stock Recovery)
1. Download the official update for your device, most device companies usually provide stock images for their devices. Follow their instructions and you should be good to go.
That's all I got.

[Completed] Corupted system application. Please help!

Hy. My name is Steven. Yesterday i bought an Lg L Fino d290. I rooted it with purpledrake and i installed Titanium Backup. I restored some backups from my old phone (an Chinese one : Colorovo City Tone Vision). I restored Contact storage, Phone storage and some other apps. After I rebooted the phone an error pops up "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped". I tapped on "ok" and imediately it apeared again. I pressed ok again and still apeared again and again. I freaked out and i realised what I've done.. Then i delelted all app chache and rebooted the phone. Nthing changed. I entered in stock recovery mode ( i can't install cwm on my phone) and i whiped all data and cache. I rebooted the phone and nothing changed. The error dialogue is still there. I tryed to install Titanium Backup again to see what i can do but it didn't work because the error message poped up contiously. Even if i install the app from Magazine Play or from an apk file it doesn;t work. i have adb connection but not many commands are working. for example install.. I don't know what to do.. the phone keep showing me the error with and without the sim card. I can open the phone app and the contacts but i can't open the message app. Please help me. What shoul I do? I knnow i dit something wrong..
Hi,
Yes, installing system files from a different devices is not a good idea. It is almost guaranteed you will have bad issues.
Unfortunately I can't find anything relevant on XDA for your device, other than trying LG's site for your exact devices firmware. And flashing instructions.

Problems when updating a previously rooted Nvidia Shield Tablet [MOVED HERE]

[This was already posted, I just moved it to the Shield Q&A.]
As many of you may know, Nvidia has recalled their Shield Tablets. I'll be getting a replacement soon. I'll be rooting it as soon as possible when I get it, but first I have a few questions.
First of all, I rooted my tablet using a guide at IBTimes (that used info from XDA forums) installing CWM recovery.
After rooting I installed Link2SD, pretty much the reason I rooted, to save up some space on my internal memory. Everything was going fine, until I received the recall notice. I moved all my app files back to the internal memory, deleted Link2SD, ran a full unroot on SuperSU, (after a while of hanging on the "Please Wait" screen the app just crashed, it wouldn't load up and Root Checker said I had no root access after rebooting.
I don't know whether this was supposed to happen or whether it should have gone more smoothly, please give me an answer to this and tell me if it affected my system in any way) and fastboot flashed the stock recovery.img.
However when I tried to install the update, I got a red triangle error. After checking the log I got an error saying "Package expects build fingerprint of ... or ..., this device has ...."
I can't remember what the fingerprints were, but the first one was something that began with "nvidia/", had a bunch of numbers in the middle followed by an underscore, then it ended with "/release-keys".
However the device's current build fingerprint was exactly the same as the first, except that it cut off halfway through, right after the numbers and the underscore.
I tried resetting my cache, I tried a wipe of the user data. The only way to fix this for me was to re-install a bunch of stock images - recovery.img, boot.img, system.img, etc.
I don't want to wipe my data next time. So I ask for this in my answer:
- An explanation of what the error means
- How this error is caused
- A way to fix this error without wiping my device
- How to prevent this error
- If what happened to SuperSU in my case is normal and if it affected my device in some way
- And, if possible, a way to install the update successfully without getting this error and without having to unroot or remove CWM, and details on how to do this method and any risks.
Thanks in advance. An answer soon would be appreciated.
Quick answer:
- You don't need to restore to full stock before updating to the latest OTA. This is what I did, running a rooted stock system with TWRP recovery:
-- Go to Settings > About tablet > System updates and continue to click Check Now until the update has been found. I had to click like 4 or 5 times before it was found. It'll download automatically to your device (not your SD card), but I forget where that download location is... XD
-- once you've found your downloaded OTA.zip, copy it to a location you can easily find from your custom recovery.
-- reboot into custom recovery, flash OTA.zip, reflash superSU.zip, wipe cache NOT DATA, reboot
-- wait until device boots up, wait until the Optimizing blah blah process is done.
-- enjoy!
Additional thoughts:
- I've tried the Link2SD app, but I think it messes with my system in a way I don't like; personally I'd rather delete the apps I never use via custom recovery (see THIS THREAD on how to debloat your tablet for yourself!
- I think your error happened when you flashed stock recovery on top of the custom one. To prevent this next time, simply wait for either a flashable zip in THIS OTHER THREAD, or you can check to see if nVidia released any OTA3.1 recovery images if you want that full-stock experience.
Hope this helps!

[Completed] Hi, im new to this forum and i need emergency help!

So i have an InFocus v5 m560 phone, and it had no google play or google services, and i installed the apks but google play opens to checking info, and then google services crash. every time.
so i tried to install an m808 rom which had gapps in the rom folder - zip. the phone was rooted previously, and i had TWRP recovery, i made a backup in internal storage then deleted system, data, cache and something else, like i saw in one video, and after i got error=7, i tried installing again with zip signature.
(the rom file is fine, i opened it with ES Explorer) but when i rebooted my phone its in bootloop, its just showing manufacturers logo and i cannot acces recovery cause it restarts. it can shut off though, i wasnt previously able to connect it to my pc but now i installed drivers so maybe it helps? if you need any more info on what i did please tell me, and help me fast please, thank you so much
