i'm having a frustrating issue after replacing the screen on my sister's Moto G.
nothing is wrong with the new screen, everything is in good working condition there. however, neither the proximity sensor, ambient light sensor or accelerometer are working anymore. i don't understand why because as far as i can tell those components are attached to the motherboard and shouldn't have been affected by the replacement of the screen module. also, the front facing camera is not working either but that's my fault. when i put the phone back together i accidentally broke off that tiny lever you have to flip up to remove the camera in the first place. i guess the camera can't plug back in properly without it. so then i wonder if the missing front camera could be causing the other component issues?? that doesn't sound right to me but i thought i should mention it anyway. i have no idea how i'm going to fix the broken lever without replacing the whole motherboard...the screen alone was already $60. ugh
so my question would be does anyone know why these parts aren't working anymore, and how could i fix them? none of them destroy the phone's core functionality but i would like to get them working. i don't own an Android phone and i'm not really familiar with the OS, would a factory reset maybe get things working?
I'm not too sure if the 1020 lens is supposed to completely shut when the camera is off. Its my wife's phone and she's telling me its stuck open cause the camera apps to crash when enabled.
The Lumia Cyan update is the only factor unless this has happened to prior FW. Is anyone experiencing this? Need help!
Thanks in advance.

I had the same experience with my Lumia 1020, but I am not sure if it caused by the same problem. My front panel was broken and therefore I did remove the front camera and light/contrast sensor. After the update i wasn't able to start any camera application anymore, but before the update I was able to do this. After reconnecting the module it worked fine again. Maybe you could check the front cam or light sensor!,
Good luck

Same here bud. All applications related to the Cameras (front and back) crash when I try to open them.. Even HERE Maps stopped working.
The sad part is that I tried to reflash it using the Lumia Recovery Tool and it does not work either.. I guess because I am part of the Developer Preview Program so I don't have the stock software.. I had to stop using my beloved 1020. :crying:
My phone camera is only showing the front camera there is no options of switching to d rear camera. Sometimes the camera app wouldnt open until i restart the phone. Am using h959 taiwan version i upgraded my phone bout 2 weeks ago to MM v20a-global-esa i dont use my camera dat much so i didnt realise the problem until now. Pls is this a software or hardware problem and is it possible to downgrade the OS back to lollipop or the phones original firmware. Tnks
I too have lost my rear camera After mm update. I changed the camera module but every once in a while the rear camera becomes available so it must be a software issue. Maybe a bad kernel? H955 europe

Ok thanks
Im going to downgrade back to the rooted lollipop system to see if that fixes the camera issue. At least with root i can try other ways to fix it. Have you tried safe mode on your phone? Push the power button as if you were going to restart your phone but instead hold your finger down on the power off option this should reboot back into safe mode. If the camera works there then there maybe an app that stops your camera working. Just reboot again to get back to normal.

Right i have downgraded back to 5.1.1 and camera has not come back. I have now rooted it to see if there is another way to get it to work. Failing that i may disassemble my phone and check the connections for the camera. Its a shame that phone has a locked boot loader otherwise i could blame a bad kernel

Maybe it has something to do with d change in camera module and how did u downgrade back to lollipop
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/update-to-marshmallow-t3399953
The software required is in the instructions and a link to the downgrade kdz is at the bottom of the opening message
I dont think it's a MM issue as I am facing the exact same problems on my H950(flashed with H950PR) on Lollipop. As mentioned by someone above, the camera does work sometimes but fails to load in safe mode. I opened up the phone and cleaned the connector ribbon as well but still no change in the scenario.

In my own case there is no option to switch to back camera. It only shows the front camera, also the front camera takes pictures upside down it started with MM update and i cant even revert back to LP to be sure wether it was an update problem
Hi there. Any updates from yourself? Ive just googled around and found something that actually worked for me!
Go into settings>apps>
Clear the data for the camera app
Clear the data for the gallery app (you wont lose your photos)
Restart phone and wait a moment for it to boot fully.
Open camera app!

same problem I have, I bought even a new back camera on Ebay, changed it, cleared all cash and data and camera worked about 5 min. and then again same problem. When I try to use flash I get the message "Flashlight unavailable while in Camera or apps using flash". I have 6.0.1. version of android, Lg-H955. When I dissemble a phone and slightly push on flash on motherboard, camera works again until I exit it and when I try to power it on again, it is not working. Seems to be a motherboard issue.
Hello guys
I opened the camera app and there are strange vertical lines going right to left like on the old tvs and even when i take a photo they are still visible. What can be the cause. Can this be caused by water or something? The story is i was heading home when a warer drop dropped on my screen like on the middle of the screen i have a screen protector and i cleaned the screen so i dont think that caused it .

Have you tried the usual like restarting the device? If so and you still have this issue try clearing the cache for the camera app via app manager in settings. If that still doesn't work try a factory reset.

Start the phone in safe mode and open Samsung test menu with *#0*# (if u can't open it u are probably running a custom ROM with no test menu support in it)
Try the camera test in there. If the problem is still there u have a faulty camera.
So my problem is a bit different but it is still a camera problem. So my camera started acting funny a while ago and mos of the time it wouldn't open at all and blocking the front cam from working as well. So i ordered a new camera module online thinking that was the culprit, as the old one made a rattling noise when opening the camera. At last it arrived today so i swapped the cameras only to find the same problem persisting. I have also tried different firmwares and custom roms but still nothing. Does anyone know a cause or a fix for this problem?
Hi,
I have a problem, my rear camera image ist still vibrating, it seems as if OIS is working over and over. First day a little hit in phone helped for a while, now there is no way to get rid of it. Same problem had my friend, but he just switched to HTC U11, if I don;t find other solution will do the same, but maybe somebody knows this problem and cure for it? Maybe there are some ROM where I could f.e. switch OIS off to check it? Or is there any way to do it on original soft?
Here is sample video: https://vimeo.com/231345072/532871105a
Don't think you can switch off OIS; my understanding was that OIS is to mechanically stabilize a shaking phone. So if you're holding the phone steady, and yet it is showing that vibration maybe there is a glitch in your software. Try a hard reset and cache wipe; if the same issue remains, then only hope maybe to do a warranty return to HTC.
Pity, but no more warranty, had lcd broken and changed it Hard reset doesn't help for long, but for a short while it is ok.
