No matter what wallpaper I select for my P900 I get a blank area in the bottom part of the screen. This occurs with Nova Launcher and TouchWiz. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks

You can verify this problem by connecting. To TV via HDMI adapter or screen mirroring . If the display is fine on TV, the problem may be from LCD. Try to reconnect LCD cable to see if it fixes the problem
Did you try a different wallpaper? (Not a different image, a different app). Like for instance the wallpaper module from Quickpic? Or a live wallpaper?
Live wallpapers seem to be fine. I tried several 1920x1200 jpg files but they all have the same problem in portrait.

I see your problem and it's normal. Picture is best fit in landscape position, you can not force it fit in portrait without distortion.
That's why you have blank space as your tablet adjust picture to fit the screen when you rotate position.
It's the same like your 4X6 picture taken in portrait mode, used as wall paper. You will see blank space in landscape mode as the picture can not fit to the entire screen.

Well, there's your problem right there. The screen resolution for this device is 2560x1600. You're missing 660x400 pixels.
I just checked with my PC the size of the jpg file I'm using as wallpaper in the attached screenshot & it's 4128x3096 so the blank space issue doesn't seem to be related to the size of the file.

On further checking this fault is present with all stock wallpapers on my tablet apart from the live wallpapers which are fine.
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
Problem solved. With TouchWiz launcher you need to adjust the cropping of the wallpaper and it fills the screen in landscape and portrait. With Nova Launcher there is no crop setting but the way round it is to choose the wallpaper when you are already in portrait mode.

I have a bunch of wallpapers that are the exact size for TF, but when I go to select them, TF asks me to crop them. After setting a picture as wallpaper, the wallpaper picture looks zoomed-in. This even happens to the stock pictures that are in the TF gallery.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I have the same problem here ...
I tried different resolution but the result still the same.
Go download Wallpaper Wizardrii from the market,
then when you're in gallery click on the share icon on the top right and choose wallpaper wizardrii and tell it to set as scrollable. Your images should look perfect if the pictures are in fact large enough.

MultiPicture Live Wallpaper
I use MultiPicture Live Wallpaper to make the images fit the screen. I usually download 1280x800 images and they look really nice.

I tried wallpaper wizardii and while it kept the size...without cropping...it would glitch while changing orientation...it would take a second or two to "settle" after a few weird little sizings...I couldn't deal with that and also no wallpaper ever looked as tack-sharp as the stock paper....even if it was large enough...

Nope....Maybe I'll try that.
Nope....same thing...it kind of "readjusts" itself after orientation....not acceptable.
I DID notice one thing....it seems (and I could be wrong) that if you go to a pic on the web and choose "set as wallpaper" it doesn't crop anything....if you download the pic...then choose to use it as wallpaper..that's when you have to crop.
Which picture are you using??
I don't seem to be having that issue but yes you're right. Pictures from the web work right away but the gallery app wallpaper setter is what brings up the cropping.
I believe they're going to make changes to this in 3.1

Good! looking forward to it....
Well..I tried Multipicture live and it works great...the pictures come out sharp and not cropped...
BUT....
When reorienting screen....they "fade in" and don't stay.
It appears to be by design...is there some way to turn this off in the MP software?
Try 1920x1280. (Yes 1*2*80, that's not a typo. )
So I know the phone is 1080p, which means 1920x1080. But since the phone is portrait that turns into 1080x1920, right?
But that's good if I want a wallpaper for just 1 home screen and no scrolling. But if I have 2 home screens and want scrolling, do I need a 2160x1920 wallpaper?
But then if I have three, does that mean I need 3241x1920?
Or am I just going too far? But 1920x1080 wallpapers in landscape will just zoom in won't they?

Yes, yes, no, yes, yes.
2160x1920 is the size of the stock wallpapers. GEL will adjust the scrolling based on him many home screens you have.

Also, each launcher can call for a different wallpaper size. 2160x1920 is what the stock launcher calls for. Does Nova call for the same size?

When I used Nova, I believe it actually stated what size it was looking for when setting the wallpaper.
I noticed that on my device the wallpaper is static when scrolling left or right through the stock launcher.
Unfortunately i don't remember if this was true on 4.4 or it changed with 4.4.2. Does anyone have an idea on how to enable the old scrolling effect?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
It seems to be dependent on what app you use when selecting set picture as... If you use photos from Google+ then you get a static, non-scrolling background. If you use the gallery app it scrolls fine.
Didn't know that.

So I noticed today while trying to get album art for my music that on the lock screen it now shows the music at a size that's far too big for the screen. No idea what's causing that to happen since it was fine before I added new art today. Any suggestions?

Album art is full screen in the lock screen. Since album art is square and the phone is not, the art is zoomed in to eliminate bars on the sides. This probably accounts for it seeming over sized. It's the same on my phone. I like the look of it myself.
But that doesn't make sense when there's no art or anything like that. It used to show the artist and song name and now it's too zoomed in. Also words on actual covers are cut off. Here's an example of one without art

How would the phone know what part of the album art to show because wording can be anywhere. As mentioned because it shows it full screen now vs a lil square box below the title and such, it has to zoom the image to fit the whole screen which will cut off the sides so that the top/bottoms can fit.

Take a look at this link: http://www.gizmag.com/review-android-kitkat-44/29821/pictures#7
Its supposed to cut off the sides.
Unless I'm crazy I don't believe it did this until now. My cover art also looks to have lower quality now. I guess it's possible that I haven't noticed till now but it doesn't make sense to me why this would happen in KitKat. Check these out. Do yours look similar?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk 4
That's because it's zooming in on a low-resolution image, hence the fuzziness
When using split screen mode, can anyone change the split position to anything other than the middle of the screen? Something like 1/3 of the screen for one app, 2/3 for the other.
I believe I was able to do this a few weeks ago (maybe with an earlier ROM, I'm on 1.13 now) but it doesn't seem possible anymore.

I can still do it. On 1.13 myself (Sprint phone, if it matters).
On my (same firmware) Sprint phone, I can move the border, but it doesn't stick. It bounces back to the middle. So, you can view more of one, but only while holding it.

Nice tip (had no idea about this) but it's not what my U11 used to be able to do. This method allows sticking the slider in 3 positions and only in small size, but I used to be able to do this with all positions and with normal screen size.
I can't resize on portrait mode either...WWE U11 on 1.13.401.1
And the split screen is really poorly supported...take a look:
