Dear All
I like to think of myself as not a complete idiot, but sometimes things happen
Bricked my Lanovo A820 last week, I rooted it via MTK Droid, rooted perfectly, made back up of previous ROM but that had already been partially rooted. Installed CWM and all was good. Then the next day turned off and on and it was bricked, with message "Tool DL image Fail, uboot is blocking by dl info"
So I tried to install scatter file from previous back up using older version of SP Flash, connected ok, loaded files ok, but on reboot I still get same message.
I can no longer boot into CWM. Phone is picked up by SP Flash but not by MTK Droid anymore.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this phone up and running again, or at least to get into CWM.
Any help with this regardless of out come will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi guys, I bought the above phone off Amazon. I found out this very strange device also had a root-enabled kernel out of the box, but my question is about recovery. I want to install CWM as a first choice, if not that, TWRP, but a Google search only tuns up loose references to MTK6589 which is presumably the SoC, but nothing for my specific model. Currently when I reboot to recovery with any root app it shows 'no command' (maybe there is no recovery installed to the recovery partition?) and when entering bootloader mode the device displays what is seen in the attached photo.
I would appreciate any help on getting a working recovery set up on this device.
Thanks!

Hi, I also have one of these phones and have been looking at recovery options with little success.
However I have found a set of instructions in the XDA University about porting CWM. (unfortunalty I can't post a link due to being a Noob, but if you Google 'porting cwm' it should be the top result).
I am going to be attempting to do this once I have got my PC set up dual boot for Linux.
Will post back with news on how it's going. Would appreciate any progress you have made about a recovery option.
Regards
Mad.
first, make a backup of your device using mtk droid tools.
if phone isn`t rooted yet, use this tutorial:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332783
for the recovery, you need to unpack your recovery.img, take the kernel zImage and put it in the cwm-recovery. for mt6589 phones, this one should work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357875
you can unpack/repack your boot.img with this tools:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587411
after obtaining new recovery.img, flash it through SP flash tool or mobileuncle tools.
Recovery Quirk
Chrizzly, thanks for the pointers, will be checking out the tools tonight.
Found a quirk though, may just be my phone.
I booted into recovery last night and as expected the "no commands" came up, but then I took the back off the phone and a recovery menu appeared. Had options in there like reboot, delete cache, delete delvik cache....
I'm assuming this is the stock recovery.
I tested it again this morning and booting into recovery and then taking the back off the phone made the menu appear!!
Any one else care to test and see if it's a stock thing or just a quirk of my phone.
replied before, my post disappeared.. this isn`t related to your device , this is recovery-typical. it is showing the android first, without a menu. you need to press hardware buttons, to get into the menu( this is device-specific, you need to try that, also buttons on the touch screen, if there are some) this will usually bring you in recovery MENU. think you accidently pressed one of these buttons while opening the device.

Re: Files. Thanks for the files, going to try them out as soon as I can!!
Done
I have got CWM working on my i9389 now, there was a few quirks in getting it going.
The method I used was as posted in the MTK Droid Root & Tools thread by rua1.
TIPS
Leave the battery out when doing read back or flash in Flash Tools.
Not mentioned in the instruction is the MTK vcom drivers which you will need and can be found in the Root tutorial posted by Chrizzly a bit further up.
Make sure you read the instructions by rua1 closely and use the images posted as it's not always straight forward.
Last tip pay attention to where MTK tools puts the files it creates, had me stumped for a bit!! I've never been very good at following instructions!!

I managed to boot loop mine while messing with a ROM I made (it's not finished yet) but managed to recover by re-flashing using the Flash Tools a back up I had taken just after installing CWM.
Do you have a back up you can flash?
I have just checked mine and even zipped it's still 800MB so I can't email it to you...
...sure if I looked about I could find somewhere to upload it to for you. PM me if you need this!!
The sd holder broke off, can i buy this http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...w?ie=UTF8&condition=new&qid=1379198350&sr=8-1 the galaxy s3 i9300 sd card slot holder and put it on my haipai i9389? or do i need specific haipai i9389 sd card slot holder.
Hi, I have a Kross GY-601 Tablet... One of the cheap chinese tablet you can pickup at factorydirect (Canada)
I seem to have bricked it when attempting to port Clockwork Mod Recovery to it. It does not show anything on screen or do anything, When I connect it to my computer.. It shows up as M6-CHIP in Device Manager as shown in my image.
The internal storage is completly gone as a result of my failed attempt to un-brick it..
It would be a great help if someone helped me fix this..
Thanks in advance..
-Henrique
PS: I'm only 13 sorry if my description of the problem is a bit bad..
Sooo,
You probably don't have proper drivers, use PDANet ones, they work even with obscure tablets.
You tried to port CWM or flash?
It's not bricked since your computer detects it
Last thing, do you have a backup recovery image or another recovery image that works so you can get it back up?
Daniel
I was dumb enough not to do any recovery image backups..
Also.. I ported cwm then flashed it with dd just poped the .img into the recovery block.. but since I didn't compile it properly when I adb reboot recovery.. It got into a boot loop.. so I tried to fix it but broke it even more... So then I tried re-writing the firmware for generic 4.1.2 chinese tablet.. but that messed it up to the point were it only shows as M6-CHIP.. i can only turn on and off.. nothing else.. no boot no screen light up nothing..
I can help you BUT....

Even i am having the same device on its stock rom and kernel so i guess i can help you i was into rooting and upgrading it but didnt do it as i was waiting for a backup device so if i brick it i dont have to wait to buy a device but i am stupid and dont know how to take a backup of the stock rom. If you will help me know how to do that i can help you in return by uploading the stock rom and sharing the link.:highfive:
Dear Sirs,
My daughter is using a Celkon A119Q HD (Stock Rom is available needrom ). The device uses a MTK6589.
Recently, my friend flashed the wrong preloader on my phone and hard bricked it. Currently it doesn turn on, no display nothing. Me being an idiot did not take a backup using MTK droid tools and I dont have CWM recovery on my phone. So I decided to flash my phone with the stock rom.
I have installed all the necessary drivers and When I connect my phone to SP Flash tools, it is able to identify it. It says "Mediatek DA USB VCOM (Android) (COM5)". However I am unabe to flash it at all. I have tried format, format without boot loader, firmware->upgrade, format all + download, download only and even ran a memory test.
Absolutely nothing seems to work. I have attached the various screenshots of the error messages I get.
I would deeply be in your dept if you could kindly help me and guide me as to what I should do next Sir, since my daughter has been giving me hell over her phone.
:crying:
Thank you very much for the help. I sincerely appreciate it.

did you try to restock it.. installing a stock rom is the last option if available.. if the phone is not even turning on, check battery.. make sure your battery is charged..
and at last.. you could just try taking it to the service center if it's in warrenty.. but make sure it doesn't turn on.. don't tell them you were flashing.. they will never know.. hope it help in any way..

I attempted to install a theme package via RomTool and the tablet became stuck on the bootlogo. Tried to go to boot recovery. Istead of the recovery screen I usually get, I received the Factory boot recovery screen. So, I use the clear eMMC choice, still nothing but bootlogo. I can not seem to get the tablet to boot into the OS in any way. Please help. Thanks.

This is a known issue of this thing so best stay away from it from now on .
Now can you factory reset your phone ?
BTW this device has mediatek ,right?
I believe that I do. I wasn't able boot to the recovery that i normally had in the past. Instead it went to a boot recovery I had not seen on this tablet before. The only only choice to a possible recovery was to clear the eMMC. I did that. and still am hung up on the boot logo of android.

Dang it ,factory reset usually works
Well as a last resort I would flash my stock firmware but this pretty much means you'll lose your data Unless you haven't backed it up.
BTW can you flash your previous recovery and try to access it again .
Also after emmc wipe you gave it enough time at the bootlogo (10-15 min so it can set things up again),right?
I gave it over 2 hours to set itself up.
I admit I am quite challenged when it comes to Android. I hanen't a clue as to flashing the device. I did have enough common sense to do a back-up to external sd-card prior to attempting the theme update. I downloaded and installed the latest XDA tools onto my PC, but I can't make sense of how to use it.
Any help would be most welcomed. Thank you so far though.

Your phone is mediatek .
Things you'll need are sp flash tool PC ,stock firmware of phone (extracted)
1)download the flash tool and open it
2)select scatter loading ,browse through the extracted stock file and select scatter.txt.
3)now click the download
4)power off your phone and plug it PC through USB
5)wait for success notification
Wait a minute have you tried restoring the backup you made .
---------- Post added at 05:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:10 PM ----------
So i looked up some links for your stock firmware and there isn't many .is your phone under warrenty then best try to take it to store.
Please forgive my ignorance. Will please define "stock"?
As in a standard 4.2.2 OS, or an original build for this tablet Verizon built? I bought the tablet on, Amazon and have no carrier.
Also, with tablet stuck In boot.... when I plug it in via usb, my PC reognises that it is my tablet, yet shows no evidence other than the device manager. Does the application you mention have ability to access my device in it's current state?
How would I go about restoring the back up?

Yes the tool works if your PC can recognise your device. But the stock (pretty much the standard os you had when it was bought) is pretty much difficult to get
---------- Post added at 06:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:56 PM ----------
Can you tell me the extension type (eg .zip .jpeg) of the backup you made .its in your SD card right .so try to tell me the extension type by getting SD card in PC via memory card reader or putting it in another phone
---------- Post added at 06:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:13 PM ----------
I hope its an .md5 file ,its late night here I'll get back to you in the morning .due to non availability of stock firmware(good if you can find it) your backup(if its .md5) is functional way of getting your phone back . you also need mtkdroid tools for this .
The file extension is .backup. I am looking for a decompiler. Then I convert to .md5. We shall see.

Okay . if you get the .md5 file ,there's an option to to prepare blocks for sp flash tool in mtkdroid tools. Then choose the .md5 file and wait for mtkdroid tools to finish.
Now in sp flash tool chooses scatter loading and choose the scatter text prepared by droid tools
Uncheck cache, userdata and most importantly preloader.
Click download in sp tool and now plug your completely powered of phone to PC via USB .wait for success notification.
Ok. I broke down and bought another QMV7A off of Amazon. Screen is in "MEH" condition, big deal. Bottom line.... I have a Samsung Galaxy Light that I am willing to brick. I need help with getting whatever is needed from the incoming QMV7A, so that I may breathe life into boot-trapped other Ellipsis.
I would like to use Samsung as guineapig in my hopefully learning something. I was successful in in getting the tablet back to the recovery menu I am use to using RomTool (must thank that developer....must thank that developer), and was also able to restore 'USER' settings. My backup was NOT OF OS. Huh....
With my settings I did get my dancing Android boot back instead of Verizon's. Now it is stuck there. NIIIIIICE !!
After reading and reading, I still can't figure out how to get a scatter text, or for that matter, what the help is it? I digress....
I need to learn on the Samsung what to do to my QMV7A.
Please assist in the attempted surgery on my Galaxy so that I may bring back my missing toy...errrr...tool...yeah...
In advance, thanks for all the assistance so far by Qwerty. And a hopeful blessing to any other that may teach me what NOT to do.

Ok, i have a doogee x5 pro phone and i tried to root it by flashing twrp recovery using sp flash tools. While flashing i got the error "PMT Changed for the rom it must be download". So i did a small research on internet and i found out that i needed to format everything except bootloader. This succeded. So after that i tried to install the firmware with this succeding to. Unfortunately the time i tried to turn phone on it was dead. SP Flash Tools wont detect it anymore. Please help me cause the phone is not mine and its brand new! I can rate my self as moderate android user. :crying:
i think i have a bigger problem... I downloaded a stock rom for doogee max pro(cause i just realised it wasnt just pro it was max pro) and it didnt seem to be recognised again. Any help would be appreciated. I constantly keep trying to raise it from the deads. Thanks!

On mtk devices a preloader is independently installed, it should be almost impossible to destroy, I owned a x5 pro and had best success to flash it with sp flash by taking out the battery, press flash button and plug it in...
The second huge issue I see is when you used the specific flash tool format option you very, very likely killed the nvram partition which contained the imei, so you'll have to fix this too by generating a new one and using mtk engineer mode which is well described and to find on Google..
But let's go step by step. Check without battery, or if it's a non replaceable you'll need find the reset button..
i have tried before without battery and i tried just now but nothing. Its very weird it was detected before and now no in same and another machine. I am pretty confused and stressed. Hope i didnt do any physical damage.. :crying:. THANKS!
starting to get pretty stressed omg! and is there a difference between MT6737M and MT6737?
i came to the point im starting to lose my mind... tried everything i could, i have 5 days left to repair this phone and i dont wanna pay 85 euros for this. SP Flash Tools wont detect the phone. Tried almost 5 different scatter files,2 different PCs and different mtk drivers. Im losing my mind already
UPDATE: I almost fixed it! I had flashed wrong preloader so phone wasn't recognized by SP Flash Tool. I fixed preloaded with a little trick from here: link. After that i flashed stock rom downloaded from doogee.cc but phone will not boot resulting in a total black screen. When i hot Power + Vol Up it takes me to another screen:
Select Boot Mode:
Recovery
Bootloader
Normal
Doesn't matter which boot mode i choose i just get a total black screen which means i get nothing. Idk what is happening! Any further help would be appreciated! I constantly try to bring it back working with little success and small improvements.
Last UPDATE: FIXED my phone had no juice left inside so couldnt complete boot proccess. Now its all good running Btw someone must pin this META trick link i send on my previous post cause im sure more people out there have preloader issues!!! Thank you everyone!!
