Hey all
I am having a very odd issues with a rooted Moto g. The phone will be fine for several hours then out of the blue this will start happening:

Remove space
The phone is relocking the screen the instant it is unlocked :S
It is running the stock android that came with the moto g ( 5.0.2) and all that has been done to the phone is that is has a custom recovery ( TWRP) + an unlocked bootloader.
A fair few apps installed yet i have had this even when its been a blank new install with no apps. I have also tried to restore from a backup which i created after rooting the phone.
I thought it was a dodgy side button but it seems in TWRP there are no issues with the locking of the screen. Also as you can see in the vid when i press the side button it keeps the screen up rather than going to blank ( as it would do if the button was toggling on and off)
I only got this phone a day ago to replace another moto g who's sd card reader had gone kaput and it seems i wont be able to send back the old moto g because this one is buggered and will have to be sent back.
In which case how to do i remove root access without being able to get to superSU to do so? (model number xt1072)

After upgrading my moto g (1st gen), whenever I lock my phone it continuously starts rebooting the phone. Currently the only option I have is to keep the phone unlocked and screen open.
How to fix it?

kindly tell me how you managed to get into the lock screen, after continuous restarting of the mobile.
I updated my moto g (1st gen) to lollipop(5.0.2) on 6th feb.
Started having the restart problem from yesterday evening.
I managed to put the mobile in safe mode, and it has shut down by itself after some time of inactivity
Please help
same problem here as well
My moto 1st gen was updated 2_weeks back. Until yesterday I didn't face any issues. From yesterday onwards seeing auto restart.
Unable to trace the problem. Would factory reset help here?
Did you updated ota on stock phone without root? If not you maybe should flash something back from scratch and see how it goes
Facing same problem.
Its about 2 weeks since I updated to Lollipop.
Both SIM Does not work, Wi-Fi does not turn on, and mobile reboots whenever screen goes off.
Factory Reset also did not fix it.
Anybody please HELP! :crying:
That Update sucked.!
After facing this problem, I did a factory reset of my phone. For few days it worked without any hassle, but suddenly it started giving same restart problem. Again did a factory reset but this time it did not solve my problem. As my phone was in warranty, gave it to motorola service center. They found out that there was some problem in my phone's PCB and needs to be replaced. They replaced my phone's PCB and now I don't have any such problem.
So, if your phone is under warranty, I would suggest to go to service center.
For those owners with no warranty, you could try unlocking the bootloader, flash back to your stock ROM, and try the OTA update again.
Basically I've been running cm12 since the first nightly came out on my Moto G, it's been working fine until yesterday, where I was just going about my day when I look at my phone and it says 'service framework com.google.process.gapps has stopped' I then pressed ok and then my device just went to a gray screen, it sat there for about 10 minuetes before I got fed up with it and held volume down + power to put it into bootloader so I could restart it. Now I'm stuck in a bootloop. But the thing is when trying to do anything in recorvery it just sits there for ages doing nothing and when flashing in fastboot it says that it's successful but really it hasn't done anything either.
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist Please Standby when our Moderators move your post to Moto G Q&A
Good Luck!
I use a rooted Moto G 1st Gen XT1033 running android 5.0.2. I installed Better Battery Stats due to a recommendation from a friend for rooted phones. I was using it for about a month, but now I got low on space and uninstalled it using Link2SD. It said com.media.android has stopped working, com.lockscreen.android has stopped working and so on, until it said com.systemui.android has stopped working. I rebooted my phone, it booted fine, but, when the Motorola symbol disappeared, the whole screen became black. Can get it to fastboot after many tries. I love this phone but it just shows a blank screen and has stopped working. Is there any way to rescue it? If so, please tell me what it is.
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist There are 2 ways either you can reflash your rom with clean install or you can go back to Stock Firmware this may help you

Good Luck!
Good Afternoon all at XDA,
Hoping that somebody here will be able to help me. In december I unlocked my bootloader using some instructions found on your website.
This allowed me to install some apps that weren't available via google play and this worked great.
However, I finally got tired of not being able to use Online Banking apps with my unlocked bootloader, so decided to revert to the factory moto g image which I backed up before unlocking.
This left me stuck in a reboot loop. between the unlocked bootloader warning and an android with spinning metal cogs in its chest.
I tried some other images, found on this site, but was left either in a reboot loop, or with the Moto logo, and the phone occasionally emitting a vibrate every couple of seconds.
I have tried loading the images using the built in Motorola recovery and/or clockworkmod recovery.
The outcome has been the same or similar either a reboot loop or stuck on moto logo occasionally chirping the vibrate.
I feel like XT1039 is not the full model number of my phone, or that I'm missing something else.
Please could someone shed some light on which Rom I should be using, and a step by step of how to get my phone back to life.
Many Thanks
Vinny
I think you are in the wrong sub-forum. This is for the second gen moto g (xt1063-xt1069). Yours is the first gen moto g
