Hello,
I've got a Samsung Galaxy Young N (gt-s6310n) with Android 4.1.2, rooted. I've installed an app to control my DSLR camera from my phone. The app runs normally, and both the Camera and the OS are supported (I don't know for the phone, but the app always start). I bought a OTG cable, recommended also by the app.
The problem is that when I launch the app, it doesn't recognize the camera, also if it's connected. The only problem that there might be is that the OTG is not abled on the phone. How can I able it?

OTG can be enabled via kernel editing, but the phone's hardware must also support OTG....and in the case of this phone I don't think it have a hardware OTG support.

Has anyone with 2.3.4 installed on tried using usb mouse or keyboard? Even usb flash drives? The 2.3.4 haves USB Host and Accessory Modes that theoretically allows that kind of things. You also need a microUSB to USB adaptor but you can make it if you have two spare cables. I am developing apps with external device connection and I would like to know this works due to the fact that I'm running 2.3.3 stock on my device.
Thank you.
A colleague of mine used a bluetooth mouse on his Samsung Galaxy S, at the time having 2.1-update1. You can try this option.
I don't need bluetooth devices, I need usb connection. Is far more reliable then bluetooth.
Think you need honeycomb or ics to use USB devices

This feature just work on devices that support USB On-the-go. don't try to make an app.

u need a USB Host enabled Hardware and Kernel to be able to use that.. it's not about old or new devices.. if it supports USB Host it will work. i am using USB keyboard on my Samsung i9100 (S II) and a chinese tab and it's working brilliantly. however it doesnt work on chacha for example.. however why would u use a USB keyboard what's the point of buying Chacha if u wont use it's keyboard no offense
I currently have the Samsung Galaxy S2 which supports USB OTG, I'm trying to figure out a way to enable ANT+ for fitness apps. Their are several USB adapters such as the Suunto Movestick Mini. I was thinking I could hook up this usb stick and enable ANT+. Does anyone know if this is possible? I currently have ICS installed.
Has anyone done this on other USB OTG enabled phones?
anyone know of anything?
ANT+ via USB OTG
There was an officail anouncment about this from the ANT people the other day. With a siutable phone it should be now possible. I have made a release of my IpBike app today which in theory should work but I don't have a suitable device to test with so would be very interested in anyone getting it to work.
I would put some suitble linkes here but it looks like I can not. I have added some details to iforpowell.com

I've just upgraded my SGS2 to ICS and connected a Suunto Movestick Mini Ant+ adapter using an USB OTG cable in order to be able to use my fitness sensors (HR belt and speed/cadence sensors from Garmin) and it works like a charm thanks to the great softwares created by ifor.
But be careful because after rooting my phone the new kernel was unable to handle the ANT USB driver and therefor it stopped working. After a few attempts i found that using a Siyah kernel (currently v4.0.1) will restore the ability to use again my Ant adapter and sensors.
Looking for ideas here. I have been searching around and not coming up with anything that is working..
I need to get a camera mounted to the rear of a commercial vehicle and be able to take a picture from this camera with a third party data collection program. Does anyone out there know how to get a tablet to allow this? The camera that is currently mounted and working (just not with our new tablet based hardware) has it's own power source but I still get the "high powered device..cannot connect" error when I try and connect it to the tablet.
I am open to any suggestions.
Thanks
The easiest way it to probably have an ip camera with those functionalities and use an ip camera program. While your tab is the hotspot.
Something else to try is to get a powered usb hub in the loop and see if that will supply the usb power needed. The same thing happens when you plug an external hard drive into a keyboard usb port.
I've read on a few external devices to install the USB otg cable first then the product...no idea why this makes a difference but try it anyway

I have some problems with USB-OTG-Connections (CM11 Nightly).
When I connect a USB-Stick it works as it should. But if I connect my Nikon DSLR (e.g. to do a tethered shooting with DSLRDashboard) the Camera is not detected by Android.
On my Galaxy S4 (rooted Samsung Kitkat) it works perfectly.
Any suggestions how to get it work on my Galaxy Tab2 as well?

Tab 2 supports only Pendrive, mouse, keyboard via OTG out of the box. If you wanna connect your camera with it,you need a powered USB HUB. S4 is a high end device; that's why it supports it by default.

That would take me a a lot of flexibility/mobility.
I want to mount my Tablet on my camera tripod.
My idea was, to use the y-cable that came with an external hdd and connect the power port to my 10.000 mAh Battery Pack to get the needed extra-power. I've tried that with the external hdd and it worked: The Galaxy Tab detected the hdd as SD-card and mounted it as usbdisk0.
But when i try the same with my Nikon instead of the hdd, neither Adroid nor the "OTG Troubleshooter" detect anything.

As mentioned before, I'm on CM11. Not Samsungs Touchwiz. Should I really flash the crappy Samsung-Software? Not sure how to switch back to the STOCK-ROM easily because I'm on CM for ages.
And how can this software help me with my problem? If Android is not detecting my Nikon Camera, I'm pretty sure DSLR Controller (for Canon) can't handle my Nikon too.
My connectivity-issue is some OSI-Layers below, isn't it?
Hi,
I have been trying to integrate usb webcam to my sony experia t3 phone through OTG cable since few days.I tried many apps which is available on play store for this purpose and none of the app worked. Except for two apps ,it showed "unknown device connected". OTG cable works fine if i connect to a pendrive ,but webcam doesn't work. And I am not able to get this information about my webcam whether it is a UVC supported one or not. So can anyone please resolve this issue.
PS:My phone is not rooted and android 4.4
