I have a Motorola CLIQ on the blue screen of death that reads BOOTLOADER USB INIT... and that's it.
Is there ANYWAY for me to fix this? re-flash the phone, re-load android OS, something....????
just try every possible thing you just said,
flash shx firmware
you'll have to flash an shx firmware. look at ModMyMoto - Motorola CLIQ/DEXT - CLIQ & DEXT firmwares Superthread (sticky)
flash this fw w/ rsd lite:
Branding: T-Mobile US
Version: 1.3.18
Bootloader Version: 05.15
Requires RSD Lite 4.5.7.
I have almost the same problem, but mine stays on White Motorola logo.
I wiped my cliq using adb shell wipe all command and now I can't re-flash on RSD Lite because it says "Please wait for all-TCI ready, and try again..."
When executing a adb shell command it returns this error: - exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
running adb devices returns:
List of devices attached
0391255714 device
Is there any way to access its internal storage and reflash?
I have tried reflashing the phone several times, it says it completes successfully - but always reboots in to this blue screen with bootloader usb init at the bottom.
any other suggestions?
Latest update: (and it's a bad one)
I downloaded tmo-morrison-viper-1.1.31-P3-rootedbythedude.shx file, flashed it using usb drivers 4.20 and rsdlite 4.5.7
It claimed it flashed successfully, but the phone never rebooted... just stayed on the blue screen with the bootloaded usb init on the bottom.
Now, I've tried to re-flash with either that same .shx file and it error's out. Then I thought maybe unrooting it would work so I tried tmo-morrison-viper-1.1.31-P3-supermonster-customer.shx and it error's out.
I originally tried tmo-morrison-viper-1.1.4-20091012-2014-cprintf-appsbl-P3-secure-supermonster-customer.shx, and it worked and flashed BEFORE today and BEFORE tmo-morrison-viper-1.1.31-P3-rootedbythedude.shx
At this point, the only thing that has changed is now whatever I try to flash, fail's immediately. It only power's on when the usb cable is inserted. I goes straight to the bluescreen with bootloader usb init on the bottom in white characters.
I'm pretty much STUMPED at this point.
Here is a screen shot of what RSDLITE shows when this cliq is connected. Anyone got any suggestions?
Maturz i am having the EXACT same problem. RSD is saying TCI ****, phone boots to the white moto logo, adb won't work. i have NO idea where to take this. The only menu i've seen that looked promising was the recovery menu which you reach by holding camera during boot. By holding(no stickykeys) ALT and hitting L you can see its menu. The options are to run an update.zip( I can't find a single file it will accept as signed/not fail executing), wipe, or restart. The wipe does not fix this issue. PLEASE tell me if you fix your device, I've got a mirror with a keyboard and its a serious bummer. This problem occurred while flashing a rom. RSD ****ed up. Some claim they can get the charging firmware to mount something ADB can talk to by plugging the phone into the wall and then switching to the computer quickly..but i haven't been able to get this to work.
i had this very same problem and i fixed it through rsd flashing the latest firmware. i lost root in the process but i don't have a brick anymore

what exactly happened? why did you have to flash?
Hi,friends
I just bought a used Rogers Infuse 4G I977 from ebay.
It was a rooted phone with Stock 2.3.3 UXKG3 installed
and there's problem with it:
1) It cannot boot into CMW/e3 recovery mode, when i press 3buttons(power +/-) or hold +/- and plug in USB cable, the screen will turn on with 4 lights on(home/search etc.) but nothing else shows on the screen,if i press the power button again it will reboot but reboot into another black screen with some sound, sounded like turning the phone in normal way but nothing shows.
2.When I turn on the phone normally, there is NO Samsung/Rogers Logo,it only has the booting sound and 1-2mins after I will have to press the power button myself to open up the lockscreen and use the phone
What I did:
Re-flash the root UXKG3 via Odin
UNROOT my phone
Install CWM via Rom Manager
Install e3 and use the file explorer to put update into CMW
Lots more,i tired EVERYTHING in the forum
Goal :
Now i don't care i can install a ROM/Root or not.
I Just Want To Have My Samsung/Rogers Logo backed on when i Turn on my phone, just wanted to look like a normal phone.
Please help me!This will be a gift for my friend and I wanted to look really nice and stock give it to him,I've been reading on Infuse 4G forum for 13Hours striaght and i have tried everything i could.
I own Galaxy S 2 with lots of root/custom experience so i'm not a noob and i know what i am doing but i really can't fix this.
I can provide video of the loading screen and everything etc.
Odin or heimdall back to stock,
Run the program
Place pone in download mode
Do what it says on the program/on the op of the program
Download mode: pull battery, put battery back in, hold volume up and down, then plug in USB cord.
You have to pull the battery or it won't work...at least its never worked for me without pulling the battery...
Edit: just saw you have already tried Odin...maybe try a different Odin?
Actually when I first flashed cm9 I had no Samsung logo on boot, I'd get a rainbow screen then it would go into the cm9 boot animation...I flashed gingerbread boot loaders through heimdall and then reflashed cm9 and the rainbow screen was replaced with a galaxy s logo with cm9 logo under that
So maybe you don't have the right bootloaders...Odin does not replace bootloaders-at least as far as I know it doesn't. So try heimdall...however be aware that flashing boot loaders is the easiest way to actually brick this phone...so do it at your own risk...I'm not saying flashing new boot loaders will fix your problem...I'm just saying it worked for me on a different but similar situation.

Alright i will try helium tonight, thanks.
First off, I know I'm a new member, and I did watch the video, I've been searching the forum for days now trying to find someone with the exact some problem as me but I've come to the conclusion I must be special as I haven't seen this problem else where. Lucky me...
Let me start off with some information about the phone.
Carrier: Vodafone AU (says XSE on the recovery screen)
Baseband Version: I9020XXKI1
Bootloader Version: I9020XXKL1
HW Version: Rev 52
Model: Nexus S i9023
Lock State: Unlocked
Primary computer: iMac
Fairly certain I have USB debugging turned off :\
I rooted and unlocked the phone and was running the latest CyberGR mod ROM and the latest AirKernel kernel. The phone was running brilliantly, not a problem in the world, very smooth, very fast, excellent battery life, I loved it. Only thing I didn't like was how the keyboard became unresponsive at times. For that reason, I think I'll be switching to the Bugless Beast ROM and thalmus kernel when (if) I get this phone fixed.
So a few days ago, the power button on my Nexus S stuffed up and wouldn't work anymore. Completely unresponsive. I couldn't lock/unlock my phone using the power button. I had to either connect/disconnect it from the USB or turn it on/off by taking the battery out to be able to use it. Needless to say, this got very tedious very quickly and I decided to unroot it and send it back to Samsung.
I looked into how to unroot and came across the Odin app and decided that I'd use that to unroot. (noob error on my behalf, I realise now) Regardless of what I'd read, Odin doesn't work on a Nexus S apparently and although I didn't flash to stock, my phone became significantly less useable, half the time it wouldn't respond to anything I did on it. I tried to boot into CWM and although I was able to do so, it was useless as my power button wasn't working.
At this stage, I took out the battery, put it back in and the phone booted up again. I didn't press the power button, it just booted up straight away. I took it out again and held the volume up button on the side and this time, I didn't get put into the CWM menu, but the normal Android recovery menu. I went to press the volume up and down buttons but nothing worked. Power button is still unresponsive.
When I don't boot into recovery, it goes past the Google screen with the unlocked lock on the bottom of it, and goes to a screen where it says "Android" in a metallic style (I disable the boot animation logo in CyberGR mod so I was used to this screen) and it just hung on there, it never booted up past that screen.
Every time I tried to use fastboot -w to wipe the phone, or oem lock or anything, I would just get < waiting for device >
I plugged it into my Windows 7 laptop, tried the one_click_stock app and got the message that my phone has no boot.img. I then googled problems regarding the boot.img and no one really had any solutions that helped me out.
The SDK won't recognise my phone is there, but the sound pops up on Windows saying a device has been connected and disconnected but it never shows up.
Is it bricked or unfixable? Clearly warranty is void, not sure if I should just take it into Vodafone and ask for a new phone (as its still within warranty period, hence why I wanted to lock it and flash a stock ROM).
Very sorry for the lengthy post, I know I was meant to be brief but I thought the more information I could give, the better chance there would be for anyone to help me out. Thanks.
Make the root of your phone with any application in the market and install the recovery ClockworkMod touch with Rom manager premium or Rom toolbox Pro. Restart recovery using Rom manager or Rom toolbox and do a full cleaning on the phone. Wipe only data and cache.
Now, select from mount and storage mount USB storage and copy over to your i9020 storage any rom ( try using the cm9 ). If the installation is successful restart, if not try some other roms. More than that I do not know how to help.
P.s.: In theory it should go smoothly, otherwise I do not assume any liability for further damage to the phone ... Good luck!
Did you know you can operate cwm using the capacitive search button instead of the power button?

Thanks for the reply, I can't actually boot into the phone or get to any market place or any screen that could make the phone useable at all, it just sits on the CyberGR android screen for when you disable the boot animation.

I was pressing the search button (the volume buttons were working when I could boot into CWM) and the text just disappeared off the screen and just showed the logo. I can no longer boot into CWM.
I've installed Ubuntu and I'm going to try running the unrbickable java app that a user on here created, hopefully that may work.
There was a problem with framework-res and the phone was staying on the black screen saying 'android' part of the cm7 splash screen, so i did adb reboot recovery and did advance restore and restored the boot of one of my backups. now, when i start up my phone, it shows the 1st part of the cm7 splash screen (the android robot behind a broken window) and after a long time the screen turns off. when i turn the screen on, the android robot behind the broken window comes on for a second, and then the screen goes black (with the screen light on). i tried adb reboot recovering it, but it can't detect my device any more. (i'm not sure, but it might be that adb can only recognise the device once it shown the black screen saying 'android', which it isn't showing).please help.

it is possible that your phone's kernel or ROM is corrupted. try to flash a new ROM with a different kernel.
Probably this is a brick

how do i flash a new rom without able to get onto clockworkmod recovery and what is a kernel (and how do i change it)
You change your kernel by flashing it, like a ROM. and does your device have a different way of accessing recovery or hboot? because if so, you may be able to reach recovery. If you can, do a full wipe, then do a full restore from one of your back ups. After that, try a new ROM.
great do

Hello!
I have unlocked Nexus SGT-i9020t with Android 4.2 and it died.
Recently I turned my phone on, and it simply didn't load.
All I see on startup is the Google logo that stays on the screen forever.
I have to take the battery out to turn it off. When I start it up again, Google comes up and blinks once, then stays on the screen forever as I said.
I tried pressing volume down + power and it doesnt do anything, it just turn on again, shows Google forever...
When I start the phone with volume up+power, I get to Fastboot Mode.
In fast boot, I tried to reboot my phone and the same problem occurred.
Then I tried to enter recovery, but that didnt help.
WHen I try to do a recovery on the phone, it loads Google, flashes 3 times and then I get a pic of a dead android.
Anroid on its back, with "!" in a red triangle.
I have some pix on the phone that Id like to keep if possible, and I have a windows computer.
Please let me know what steps I can take to recover pix if possible, and what do I do to restore the phone and get it up and running?
Also when I connect the phone to my Win8 computer, it makes a sound, so it knows that a device is connected to it. However, nothing shows up in My Computer. When I open device manager,I dont see anything there either. When I have it connected to my computer and the phone is in fastboot mode, I see it in device manager as Android 1.0 but still see nothing in My Computer
Please help!
Thanks in advance!
I think you should try to flash a new rom using fastboot.
The tutorial to install it on windows is here.
Then, follow this tutorial to flash a new rom on your device.
I would recommend you to try with CyanogenMod 10.
(the first link on this page would be good)
Just be sure that your phone is a Nexus S and not a Nexus S 4g!
Nexus S GT-I9020T is not the 4g, so if your sure of that, it is ok.
I'll follow the thread and wait for news of your problem...
Please press the thank button if I helped.
Vol+Up and flash new ROM. Make sure you're unlocked.

well, that's the whole problem. in device manager, it shows up as Android 1.0 with yellow exclamation mark.

I got Windows 8 btw
