hello frnds,
i am from india (duh) ...my friend bought a galaxy nexus s two days ago..
she had it up an running and it was working as it should.. but yesterday when she woke up..what she saw was that the phone won't boot up and a it shows a lock sign on the boot screen below google and that it was heating up badly... even the pc is not detecting it..i have the phone right now and i promised her that i'll fix it...
what should i do to keep up my promise!
bootloader is locked, phone won't boot
Hello,
The lock simply means that the bootloader of the phone is currently locked (as it is from the factory).
If it won't boot past the Google screen, try removing the battery of the phone for 10 seconds, then trying again.
If this fails, remove the battery again, replace the battery, hold down the UP volume button while pressing power until you see a green android screen. If you can see this screen, then use One Click Root 5.1 in the Development Thread for Nexus S or Nexus S 4G.
hmmm..
thank for the relpy,
well i have tried all that stuff i.e removing the battery for 10 sec..(didn't work)...
wen't to recovery mode(the green android thingi...) and tried recovery option won't work..
do you mean i should flash the firmware again by using one click?
thanks in advance!!
The lock sign means that the bootloader is UNLOCKED. If you didn't see the lock it would mean that the bootloader is locked (stock). The recovery option won't work because you haven't flash any custom recovery. In fastboot mode (volume up+ power button) it should say: LOCK STATE - UNLOCKED. This means that bootloader is unlocked. Use the toolkit (found in nexus s android development) to flash stock image.
Someone tried to do stuff to the phone and messed up.
thanks
i will try this let you know.:fingers-crossed:
thanks for the help:good:
What causes this though? I have codename jb And cwm 6 on my device and it randomly gets stuck on the boot screen through out the day
Hey ppl.
I got a Nexus S and his power button does not work for a week now. Since i got it still on warranty i decided to get it to samsung service.
I was using SlimBean so it was ok with volume rocker as a wake the device action. Since Samsung wanted the phone to be stock and locked i decided to do it. I found the stock rom, i flashed it, and here is when the problem started. I flashed the rom the way i flashed every other "custom" rom, via ClockWorkMod. Then, trying to also lock the bootloader i found this. I installed the device drivers again etc etc and when the program says "Checking Fast Boot Status" everything stops. The phone is not responding (can't move up and down with volume roker) and i have to pull the battery to reset it. Thankfully when i put the battery back in the phone starts up itself so no need for power button
So what can i do? Whats wrong with my bootloader?? Is there any way to install a custom recovery again, to have a rom with volume key unlock and leave the power button as it is? (reminder : phone is back to stock and no superuser, cwm or anything)
Appreciate any help !
My xt925 began to act strangely some days ago. The performance was severely reduced (with no explanation) to the point that I am unable to restart, even to recovery flash another rom. It is rooted, with unlocked bootloader and with CM11-SNAPSHOT-M5. Today it just depleted the battery and shut down. Then, while charging, it reboots to bootloader and now it's stuck.
The problem is simple, but the solution should consider that the power button is broken so I have been using it with apps to solve the power button issue.
Is there a way to reboot to recovery in this situation?
Hello Guys,
My OnePlus One screen broke, it was in my drawer for more than 15 days without charge, i connected charger for 1 hour it just went from 1% to 5% but i didnt thought much about it as my priority was to change screen, i bought touch+lcd with frame and replaced it myself, but it wasnt powering up then i tried putting the backpanel on, it then booted up to the home screen, but the battery indicator wasnt moving up i powered off the phone after that it never turned on, i researched a bit and found out the after long period of time if you dont charge your phone might have problem charging and there was one suggestion which i followed and that was charge OPO using usb cable attached to PC, i left it for somewhat 7hours and it powered on i thought it might be the problem of ROM i flashed official H2OS (regret selecting this rom) using TWRP, it was a catastrophe my phone wont Enter Bootloader or Recovery, and wont even boot to system, it seemed i hardbricked my device, i used Oneplus one recovery tool 64GB to bring my device to life but after that no matter what i do my device wont enter to bootloader as the volume up button stopped working too : tried advance reboot, powerup+volumeup, opo toolkit.
Help me, i want to root my device and unlock bootloader once again.

Is your volume up button actually broken or does it still work and can you boot into something? If it still works (hold on, this idea might be a little crazy xD) you could try completely hard bricking (no joke! you cannot get into Qualcomm download mode with a booting device) and restoring it with the msm8974downloadtool from the oneplus one unbricking guide which should theoretically fix everything that is wrong.

Even If my volume button dosent work then why wont it enter bootloader via advance reboot it just restarts to system after selecting reboot to bootloader,so i should hard brick my device once again, P.S. i have done that twice before though.
Hey everyone, I hope this is the right place to ask for help. Something very weird happened yesterday. After removing my 2-year old Y2 from charging, I started using it normally. After a few minutes, it lagged somewhat and then stopped responding. Without thinking much, I pressed and held the power button to restart it like I have done many times before. But this time, it got stuck on the Mi logo. It kept getting stuck on the Mi logo (after switching off for about a second) no matter how many times I held the power button to restart again. I left it on the logo overnight and it stayed that way.
What I have tried yet:
1. As I said, I tried to restart it multiple times by holding the power button to no positive effect.
2. I tried to boot it up into recovery mode by holding Volume up and power button. That restarts the phone back to the Mi logo and it is stuck again. The "Main Menu" (which I think is the recovery mode) with options like Reboot, Wipe data, etc doesn't appear.
3. I tried to boot it into fastboot mode by holding Volume down and power button. It boots up to the fastboot logo so I guess it is working.
4. I followed the steps in this video. The phone stays in fastboot and nothing happens.
5. I let the phone discharge completely once, and tried charging and booting again. This also did not make any difference.
I could not find any information about something like this anywhere. Since it happened on its own, maybe it is a hardware problem? I did not install anything new in the past few days, not even a new app. Maybe it has got something to do with the battery or some other part?
I'd really appreciate any type of help in how to fix this, in particular the following issues:
1. Is there any way to know if it is a software or hardware problem without complicated tampering with the hardware?
2. Can I do anything to recover the data? I'd be really upset if I lost it all.
3. What all steps can I take to fix it if it is a software problem, preferably without losing the data?
4. If it is likely a hardware problem or a difficult to solve software problem, how I can I encrypt (or even wipe) the data before giving it to someone for repairs? (since I'm not able to boot into recovery mode)
Some extra information if you need it: my phone is not rooted, bootloader is locked, OS is Miui 11 (Miui 12 is also available for it but I haven't installed it yet. Maybe there's a way to install it externally which would boot up my phone?)
Thank you for your help! I'd really appreciate it

Hi, I recommend you first of all back up your data if still possible.
Then, reboot into fastboot.
-fastboot erase system
-fastboot erase cache
- fastboot erase userdata
-fastboot erase recovery.
Then clean flash a rom.
