ota update - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
Today, I activated a Z3, which was laying around for half a year, or so...
It is still on Android 4.4.4. Why I don´t get an ota update?
Bootloader is still locked.

Check the service provider... It might be possible that they hasn't released LP or an incremental upgrade yet.

OTA upgrade not being received... though previous updates were

Hi guys,
I have a Sony Xperia XZ (F8331) and my current firmware is 39.2.A.0.442 with my customization being 1304-9025_R6C which corresponds to Customized IBE.
From what I can see on XperiCheck, Customized IBE is already on version 41.2.A.2.199 but I’m yet to receive an OTA upgrade.
I know I can flash with Flashtool, but I have previously received OTA updates including those with a bump on OS version (MM to Nougat 7.0) so my question is… what possible reasons are there that can be preventing me from getting this specific OTA upgrade? BTW, I'm not rooted.
Thanks in advance!

Not rooted, and not rooted as well when previous OTA upgrades were received (of course)
Hello, if you are customized IBE you must recevie the OTA , connect the phone to computer and open Sony Xperia companion and you shoud recive the update....then update.
Another way is reset the phone to factory and you will recive via OTA, but you will lose all the data .

Some receive instant OTA , others slower, ( i rember something about first few days only some receive ota, and the next 15 days alll get the ota.)
Also can you post a screenshot with the customized ibe?

Sure, there you go (and 15 days have passed, I believe).
So is something weird, there's no 39.2.A.0.422-R6C for your customized IBE

That's odd... no 39.2.A.0.442 on XperiCheck but I did get that one through OTA, and other customizations have it on XperiCheck (e.g., Customized BLX)
Also, just checked Xperia Companion and it says device is up to date. Any clues?
Hmm, I have an F8332 and the latest update available for that is 41.2.A.7.8. It won't install on mine for some reason (verification step fails everytime), Sony says just to wait and it'll likely work in a couple days.

Any OFFICIAL OTA for Honor 6x BLN-L24 after B360?

I have problems with the updates, my device only stays in B360 and I can not update from Firmware Finder :crying:
You will have to use dload.
BLN-L24C567B366 is the current version I can see on FF site.

Is correcto, but I can't, because I have already followed the steps in firmware finder but I get an error when analyzing the downloaded package.

I just got B365 OTA via system update yesterday. The security patch is up to October on B365. I didn't use the firmware finder by the way.

Seems to be rolling out fast -- My fresh-out-of-the-box-yesterday 6x got a B365 notification last night. Over wifi, btw (still haven't thrown a SIM card into it yet). I suppose I'll let it update at some point soon -- what could go wrong ?
to place the sim card implies a problem with the updates?

Nope, didn't mean that at all. Was just saying that that to show that it has nothing to do with carriers (which I guess we know) - it's coming pure OTA via the internet.

But still a sim card may be needed to register the IMEI on network to get the OTA. It may get without sim but i have not received any till date on any of the honor phones and ota shows after couple of minutes of sim registration
Just saw an update notification this morning, its installing now. I got mine right before thanksgiving (and installed an update then too).
I'm actually very pleased with this phone and the firmware. They let you uninstall all the 3rd party crapware and most everything else (google crapware) can be mostly disabled.
I just wish I had the lineageos email program, I don't like the honor one as much.

I cant find the link to download it manually. Anyone can help? Can i do it manually?
I bought it in Hong Kong. My phone Version:

New software update is 2.42.400.2

No, not rooted. But cant update without reason
Make sure you have a good wi fi connection when you do attempt to download the update. I know that the US HTC website has the latest version for download for the USA unlock phones. Good luck.

Oreo update ... still waiting.

I struggle to understand why it's so difficult to get any information about when I can expect my phone to update to Oreo. I understood that it would be updateable out of the box when I bought it back in August, but I'm still waiting. I'm not overly bothered about the new features, but I need an Oreo device to properly test an app I have to update, according to Google Play.
Anyway, I was wondering. It's November the 2nd, Oreo has been about for a while now, I have a 2018 phone running 7.1. I've tried updating through the few legitimate means available but am still being told my device is up-to-date. Trawling the Internet for clues about who has or hasn't got this update, I've failed to find any definitive information. So I don't know if my phone is not updating when it should be, and I'm reluctant to do any hacking. Too many bad experiences there.
So the question is, is anyone else here with a Galaxy A8 (2018) still waiting? I'm on giffgaff, with an unbranded, unlocked (i.e. not network locked) phone.
Thanks,
Paul.

I'm not rooted, and I wanted to avoid using Odin or any unofficial means of updating. In the past I've just had too many headaches with those approaches. I guess I was really just wondering who else out there is waiting for this long overdue update.
took my phone half a month to see a new update

You can try SamFirm downloader, when there is an update available it will show up.
Odin is safe to use, you can flash official filmware through it without a problem.
It is possible to flash other country filmware with the Oreo update with the same bootloader that you've got.
For some countries there won't be any updates to Oreo, and they stay on Nougat 7.1 August patch.

Whats the other solution you have left?
With SamFirm you can see directly if there's an update or not, its that simple and can do no harm.

I don't see the problem, from SamFirm you get an official update just like OTG, the difference is that its updating right from your Phone with an OTG.
Basically you receive the same update.
But, "Suit yourself"

I mean the actual hardware not firmware.
Don't forget that I cannot see any device that is connected via OTG adapter at this moment.
Problem solved.
OTG is supported only with the original adapter.

Still on Android 8.1

Is there anyone who didn't received Android 9.0? My p20 dual sim is still stucked on Android 8.1. No news about an update even if I'm checking in settings, changing sim slot, changing language in hi care.! Nothing seems to find any update. Firmware finder finds updates, but I can't install it. My bootloader is still locked and I can't even root my phone.

Me and some other people got the update by switching the SIM-Card. One that never has been in your phone, at best with another provider. Sounds weird, but give it a try.
I've tried with another sim card from same provider. Didn't worked. I will buy a different provider sim card.

Canicula is right, your branding is weird, at worst scenerio you can rebrand your phone using funky Huawei(costs like 28$)
Than I will stay on android 8.1, since is not a big change. Does any of you know a good method to root this phone?

One member of this telegram group knows how to obtain bootloader code from Kirin 970 devices but you will need to disassemble your phone, you can ask him(don't PM him or they will ban you) https://t.me/joinchat/I0ghckXZ93L8U-PCP4-YxQ

You should get in touch with Huawei service in your area. You should have received an ugrade long time ago maybe there's an issue with your device. The P20 started to receive Android 9.1 this month already.
I'm having the same issue right now.
Current version is "EML-L29 8.1.0.168(C432)" and it claims that there's no system upgrade available.
I don't have any machine that is capable to run hisuite (or does it properly work with virtualbox).
Is there nowadays any other advice?

I think you also have a demo Huawei. That was the answer from my Huawei center! It doesn't work with modified HiSuite! And with Firmware Finder I'm afraid that I will hardbrick my device!
