Any OFFICIAL OTA for Honor 6x BLN-L24 after B360? - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

I have problems with the updates, my device only stays in B360 and I can not update from Firmware Finder :crying:

You will have to use dload.
BLN-L24C567B366 is the current version I can see on FF site.

Is correcto, but I can't, because I have already followed the steps in firmware finder but I get an error when analyzing the downloaded package.

No, my phone is new

I just got B365 OTA via system update yesterday. The security patch is up to October on B365. I didn't use the firmware finder by the way.

That's true

Seems to be rolling out fast -- My fresh-out-of-the-box-yesterday 6x got a B365 notification last night. Over wifi, btw (still haven't thrown a SIM card into it yet). I suppose I'll let it update at some point soon -- what could go wrong ?

to place the sim card implies a problem with the updates?

Nope, didn't mean that at all. Was just saying that that to show that it has nothing to do with carriers (which I guess we know) - it's coming pure OTA via the internet.

But still a sim card may be needed to register the IMEI on network to get the OTA. It may get without sim but i have not received any till date on any of the honor phones and ota shows after couple of minutes of sim registration

Just saw an update notification this morning, its installing now. I got mine right before thanksgiving (and installed an update then too).
I'm actually very pleased with this phone and the firmware. They let you uninstall all the 3rd party crapware and most everything else (google crapware) can be mostly disabled.
I just wish I had the lineageos email program, I don't like the honor one as much.

this cell phone can be very good game, the consumption of ram is very little so it has good autonomy

Interestingly, my wife's 6x, which she has been using on mobile network since early November, is still sitting at B360. So far, there's no update available. Strange...

NXT-L29 no Nougat yet

Hi there
I am still on build NXT - L29C636B193 with June secuirity patch.
I have the dual SIM L29 4gb gold variant. I am in the UK.
Still waiting for Nougat. From reading around it seems that almost everyone has already recieved the official OTA...
I have also seen people manually flashing the OTA but I am worried I may lose my warranty and make certain apps like Android Pay unavailable.
All advice is appreciated
Thanks:laugh:
If you want to have warranty, stay at stock.
There is a major difference between nougat and mm (in look and performance for me). I dont need my warranty because - 1) ive bought it in china , 2) what does warranty cover? if i crash screen - warranty is worthless, if i crash software - i can fix it by myself - so its useless...
I ve swaped soft for european L29C432B320 from DL-00 and i dont care about OTA or some****.
Just flashed, rooted and using as always. For me root is necessary, so warratny is useless anyway.
The only thing is that if something bricks your phone like e.g. melting in pocket (vide SGS Note7 ) there is nothing you can do...
So - for me - just manually flashed nougat and root it and its ok.

I receive the Ota only to the converted C432.

Can I load the latest update onto the device so that the system update menu will recognise the update?
Maybe use dload or somrthing?
Can someone point me in the right direction?

Hi there
When I contacted the European chat helper in the Hi care app, they said that my model the NXT - L29 will not get OTA updates while i am not in Southeast Asia?
I don't know if this true as it sounds bizarre, most devices are still updated when not in their home land.
What model number is yours?
Thanks
checksum error
Hi there,
the update appears and it starts to download, but most of the time, I get a checksum error. Only 2 times (out of perhaps 8 downloads) it downloaded properly, so far. The device restarted and got stuck at the "Your device got unlocked and can't be trusted." and "The device is now booting" prompt. I let it rest for more than 3 hours, but nothing happened.
So: none of the categories in the poll apply to me: I seem to get the update, but cannot install it.

I finally figured what was wrong: I had a bad (as in not accepted by the system) update in the dload folder of the sdcard. Thus even after flashing TWRP via adb or the stock firmware upgrade, that was tried and denied, first.
Once I removed that folder, I could successfully install TWRP and the latest CM/Lineage build (alpha-4).
To actually answer your questions: Yes, CH, and yes, bootloader unlocked.

I had manually uppdated to B521 and tried to update to B563 trough the Firmware Finder without success.
Then I downgraded to B193, tried update to B563 and failed.
Updated to B211 then and did factory reset. After restart I got new firmware showing in system update in settings.
So I´m guessing it´s official OTA update as I didn´t update through Firmware Finder.

I was on L29C185B180, and the 321 update (4.1) just hit my phone on Thursday.
I recieved my OTA update today on from NXT L29636211 to b563 im in the UK with China dual sim international Mate 8 purchased from wonda mobile. Went very smoothly. Now enjoying official Nougat.

Having trouble with SD card firmware updates.

Hello everybody,
Firstly, apologies about all text, no links.. But i'm new to the site and don't have enough posts to link yet.
So, i'm new to the Mate 9 (had Samsungs for quite a few years now... Overpriced battery sucking hogs that never last to 18 months withou massive issues) and I really haven't gotten into the custon side of/flashing etc since my original galaxy (dunut, before the s!) /HTC Desire, sgs3 days.... So i'm probably quite out of touch... But still capable to learn and especially follow a good guide!
Now, my thing is... I want to stay stock as I use Android pay quite a lot... Yet with my experience with optus they are ATROCIOUS at updates, every with volume sale items like the Galaxy s4, 5 &6 so I can only imagine that i'll never get an update with the mate 9.
I purchased my phone outright, but second hand.... So I don't think I'll have a warranty anyway.
So far I have gathered that I can only debrand if I unlock the bootloader (and pay remains broken even if it gets relocked with an original rom) so for me, at least for the time being, that's out.
My next option is to side load firmware from the SD card... I just want to keep up to date. There is some screen sensitivity issues that the newest firmware apparently addresses.. Not to mention camera updates and battery usage updates (already VERY impressed with the battery though, especially after my S6- Awful phone)
Trouble is, I can't get any update to complete! - They get to 5% and then fail!
The firmware models I've tried have slightly different numbers to what's on my Optus Mate 9... But I can't find any exact matches, so I'm kind of expecting this to be the cause of my failed updates, even when I've downloaded from the different sites following the guides.
Currently i'm running with this;
Model: MHA-L09
Build: MHA-L09C34B122
EMUI: 5.0
Android: 7.0
and I have tried these three updates from the Huawei... Note 2 full and one OTA. Also note the firmware/region differences... But it's as close as I can find.
2017.04.25 MHA L09BC346B181 FULL-MF
2017.04.25 MHA L09BC346B181 OTA-MF
2017.04.24 MHA L09BC34B170 FULL-MF
I've also followed these two guides (and another one with a B170 update), downloading the updates from each respective site in case the firmware was something different than what I could find. Note also that one tells you to put the dload folder into the device memory.. Which won't work, so I just did it in SD which enables the phone to recognise the update file.
(links not allowed sorry, removed and replaced with text, can probably google to see what I did, always fails on step 1)
From get droid tips, upgrade to B170 & B181
from stechguide, upgrade it B181
Not to mention having followed all the guides I could find on this forum.
I'm sorry if I've missed a discussion that already deals with this (or similar) or if it's really bleedingly obvious. I'm just at a bit of a loss here!
Thanks in advance.
Sorry,
This is for Australian firmware. Optus.
Use this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
I don't get why sites write down guides on how to update, when we in fact can't update using DLOAD. Only 2 offline firmwares have been released so far, for C636 and AL00. But that guide up there will let you update to 181.
Thanks for that,
I'd obviously misunderstood what's available already... Figured since I don't have the 10x zoom available like the latest release, I was behind.

Yes, new users are led the wrong way by reading these guides.
The dload method probably worked with older devices so the Mate 9 articles seem to be created by copy and paste and replacing the older devices name with "Mate 9". Voila! There's your new shiny article about the Mate 9 and people klick it.
Yeah. I got sucked in. Noob mistake.
Sorry for polluting the board with my stupidity!
Very out of touch with behind the scenes android.
Thanks for taking the time guys
Since you don't want to unlock your bootloader you are stuck to only one method. And that is the Firmware Finder method and try to push the latest C34B170 FULL-MF to your System Updater and hope it is authenticated. The other link mentioned by ante0 is for unlocked bootloader users only using TWRP and modified recovery images.
Saw that. Figured I'm just stuck as is for now. I'll check out what you're referring to!

New Mate 9 owner here, have been trying to update from MHA-L29C636B172 to MHA-L29C636B180 using the Firmware Finder method and push to OTA.
System update has picked up the new version but every time I try to download and update, it gets to 100% and then tells me I need to update Package 1 which is the same size, it downloads that, tells me I need to update Package 2, same size, downloads that, Package 3 etc, etc in a never ending loop! I’ve tried using both the smaller update package and the full package. I built up an update file of over 5GB trying to do it this way and it never gets to the authentication stage!
Although I’ve always unlocked my bootloader, flashed custom recoveries and roms on my previous Android devices I’m not keen to take that path yet.
In a nutshell, am I doing something wrong or should I just wait for the official authenticated firmware update to pop up on my phone? Thanks.

Once you start download.. pause it then go turn off the proxy and then go back to the update and resume. Then you won't get the incremental download loop.
By the way, when you unlock bootloader on mate 9, then flash a full firmware (either the update and rebrand guide, Firmware finder or funky) your bootloader gets locked again. So no real harm done.

Nope, thats Huawei not authenticating the update for your device yet... you just have to wait. Took me about 3-4 weeks from the time of release before B182 got approved for my C636 device.
I just randomly check every week till its finally approved - I try not to keep checking as its pointless and a waste of bandwidth.

Thanks @Leighm0. Unsure what the point of Firmware Finder and the proxy is then? If it allows you to find the firmware earlier, but you still can’t install it because Huawei need to authenticate it first, why not just check for updates using the built in system updater?

Nope - I still had to get FF Proxy to push it to system updater.. just needs to be authenticated by Huawei first. OTA did not show up under the standard "check for updates" options.. it might have shown up, but how long do I need to wait for that ? My device is not available in Australia, would it even get OTA updates if it werent for FF proxy?
Next time a firmware comes out, I could do a test to see if it does even get it by normal methods - and that is to push with FF Proxy, wait for the update to be authorized... then cancel it... turn off FF Proxy and wait for it to show up in my system updater naturally.. see how slow Huawei are at pushing it? Be interesting to see.
The above would probably not be relevant to an Australian sold model/device - it should get OTA updates when they are pushed out..

Ah, ok, well explained mate. So there is a delay between FF and OTA finding the update and then there is a delay as to when Huawei decide to authenticate it.
Are firmware and when Huawei decide to authenticate based on model number? Geographic regions? Mobile carrier?
Mine was purchased via Hong Kong and is the MHA-L29C636 model which I believe is the version JB HiFi sell as well.

Not sure how Huawei do their authentication approvals.. but it's not model number.. as someone with same model as mine got theirs authenticated 3-4 weeks before mine did (they were in different country). Could be region and or mobile carrier.. who knows.
Mine was purchased from Thailand and is the LON-L29C636 but is not sold anywhere here in Australia. Correct your model is indeed sold by JB Hi-fi.. so would think you get yours approved same time as those who bought here in AU from JB. But again this could be wrong and they could base authentication on something else... Maybe serial number groupings or who knows?!?!

MHA-L29 still no update

hello there, i just got my mate 9 2 days ago and trying to learn all the stuff on this phone. i used to own an oneplus 3. so i have the same asia mate 9 i guess cause on my research i knew c636 is for asia. my build number is MHA-LC29C636B158 and i tried checking for updates.. its saying no update. im gonna try to stick this phone to everything stock. hopefully to get OTA updates or other alternative way to update this phone.
Just use Firmware finder. It doesn't require root, unlocking, flashing and so on. Follow the instruction and then check standard update app on your phone - you'll see new firmware notification. I've updated my C636 from 158 to 172 and then to 181 without any issue using FF. Good luck!

I've always picked the highest one in the list with largest size - FullOTA. Update worked like charm.
One more thing, as soon as download process starts you should pause it, uncheck proxy in WiFi settings and restore your download. :good:

No, check the video again. In the end (1:18) you are asked to enble proxy in your device's WiFi settings. Right after that you go to update app on your phone, check for udates. As soon as you find it and start downloading you have to pause it, disable proxy in WiFi settings and proceed with downloading and installing.

UK Updates

Hi. I got an Honor 9 through Three in the UK approx 3 months ago. It came unbranded and is currently on C432B100. Has anyone in the UK received any updates since getting their phone via OTA. I have already questioned this through HiCare chat and they have stated that there are some security updates coming soon. I previously had a P9 which never received an update in the 2 years I had it. Live chat also said that the updates are done in batches but i doubt there are that many Honor 9's in the UK to receive updates that warrant it to be put in batches.
Im stuck in the same situation, still on B100 firmware, with, what seems like no hope of any updates, im waiting on official oreo, as from what i have read, huawei already has the correct partitions for project treble, and someone has got oreo treble working on a mate 9, which has the kirin 960, and i think someone else got it booted on an honor 9.
i guess its just a waiting game for now. oreo is in beta, so i expect an official update soon.
Just use the firmware finder app to spoof updates to your device. I used this and am now on B180 working fine.
do the capacative buttons work on B180?

I have no issues with full stock B180.
Thanks. Will give it a go later when I have time.

Ive got firmware finder installed, and can download the latest firmware, i'm assuming i need to then flash the zip with TWRP, only problem ive got is that I don't have a microSD card.
unless you can perform a 'fake' OTA with the firmware finder app?
It also says that the firmware is not approved for installation when I check access
i've found a B180 firmware on ff and used the in app proxy to install but got an unstable network message after 65% which then reset to 0. Am i doing anything wrong?
This is a bug in firmwarefinder, happens to me also sometimes. also you guys dont need a custom recovery, leave everything stock, bootloader locked and frp and the HWFF update can still be done. When unstable network message occurs for me it always helped to stop the HWFF proxy and restart it, then when everything is downloading well i leave the phone alone till 100%. Then update starts in the same way as OTA directly out of settings menu. No need for recovery, sd cards etc. Only make sure that you get the FULL OTA package and proof your imei first. If its not approved the huawei check wont verify the firmware and the installation will fail (without consequences).
approved firmwares are B120, B150 and B180 as far as i have checked myself. For the other ones i think the best is to install the nocheck_recovery
Hello
You can use also Funky Huawei. However, it is not free. But, it works fine.
Do tools like funkyhuawei and dc-unlocker execute more sophisticated code than you can do yourself?
Hi. Just updated to B180 via FF proxy. Had trouble getting it to download via WiFi so used my mobile data and worked perfectly.
I finally got it to work, successfully on b180 now, don't see why b181 etc.. is listed as they are not approved for install

It just lists all of the firmwares that are available for the model. There is a seperate check whether they have been approved for install.
I think the proxy in FF is only to trigger the download. I always shut it down straight after the download starts.

Ok, I think not.
See demo: https://youtu.be/pt5pWPhcsW4
There's a short pause when you shut it down, but it resumes quickly afterwards on your standard connection.
Of course, there is nothing wrong keeping the proxy on during the download.
An update for people on B100 in the UK. I updated the other week to B180 via FF proxy. I received the OTA for B182 just now and everything working fine. So at least it still receives updates. One further mention, I previously had a p9 before my honor 9 and across almost 3 years this is the first update I have ever received. It makes.you wonder how bothered Huawei are about their phone updates.

Thanks, UK on B100 as well, didn't realise there had been so many updates. I've just installed FF, can you tell me which version of B180 you selected? Was it the full version or the update?
Cheers

Thanks, I've started the download of the 3GB update file with the proxy then removed the proxy and it has continued. Downloading over a 4G hotspot so might take a bit of time. Hopefully I'll be updated soon and hopfully Three UK allow VoLTE for this handset.
Cheers

OTA updates for imported Honor V10 phone

Hi,
I live in Egypt and the Honor View10 is NOT officially sold here so I bought it from the hihonor UK website. I noticed that I never receive OTA updates despite trying to check for updates from time to time. When I wait for too long for OTA and it never comes, I use Firmware Finder which is NOT working nowadays for some reason & honestly I'm not a big fan of it since my phone is a flagship and relatively new so why not getting OTA updates directly from Honor?!
Chatting with Customer Service today revealed a schocking thing. I was told that I should be using the phone in Europe with an European SIM to get updates since my phone is not supported in my region!!! I told him that my phone is the international version and it was unlocked (sim free) so how come I won't be getting updates just because I'm not living in Europe?!! all he said is that he'll forward my complaint to the dev team to investigate but no promises
But is this really the case with all other brands or it's just Honor/Huawei?!
I'm here not to knock any brand down but paying around GBP 450 for a phone that will torture me just to get OTA updates is a thing that I regret now very much - especially that they have all their attention nowadays on their newer phone (the Honor 10), which is pretty much identical to the Honor View 10 but with a notch! and my phone seems like it was forgotten very quickly!.
If this issue is not resolved, I'll drop Honor/Huawei brand entirely from any future considerations! a hard move on my part because of their excellent hardware but I can't pay at least ~ USD 500 for a phone without having OTA pushed to me wherever I am in the world!!!

Well first of all this is bull**** that you need European sim to get updates
Kindly mention the version you are currently on.. Just to notify you, updates are quite slow on view 10 so it's like 1 update in about 2 months
There are ways you can debrand your phone and change it to US, Indian or China version as well getting updates shouldn't be a problem, at best use Vpn to overcome any geographic restrictions

Thanks for your answer. I'm quite sure their customer service wasn't right and my sim has nothing to do with updates as I bought it sim free in the first place. I was wondering if there's any way to convert my phone from European to US and install their Oreo 8.1 ROM with the EMUI 8.1? I obtained an unlock code from their website but I kept it aside as I'm not planning to use custom ROMs untill official suppport stops completely.
I'm currently on the BKL-L09 8.0.0.160(C432) - bootloader is locked and no root or any modification has been applied to my phone.
Android Security Patch: May 5, 2018
I know that there's the B162 update which has EIS + June security patch + some fixes for sound...etc
and there's also the B163 update with has July security patch.
I'm not interested to install VPN's for daily use as I'm not super worrying about privacy, but I installed and tried several free VPNs and configured them to any European country, but checking for updates gave nothing up till this moment I'm writing this. I'm really pissed off!

Well yes 163 is available for your device, u can always use firmware finder for update, lucky for you full ROM is present on firmware finder, not just incremental updates, u can use this
If u get any problem installing this just search for "dload" method and it will update just fine

Not everybody I know in Spain has 162 update, the OTA are rolling out in batches, perhaps with a VPN you could get the OTA in a easier way, but wait for a few days to check if OTA is available

I found many people bricked their device because this method has high chances of failure.

I will wait for the end of July and hopefully I hear something about an update showing up in Europe but I'm still very pissed off because this model has been very quickly ignored in favour of the subsequent notched model!! I have never ever seen a company release pretty much identical hardware consecutively!! [emoji80]

I used the dload method on my c675 to update from b130 to b151.. Then used the system update to go to b161
As long as the dload contains the exact ROM for your phone it will work.
Other than that use system update.
HFF is useless to my phone.. Always rejects the update from them.

I am confused myself because for each firmware version, there is ota and fullota and for each of these, there are three files and I'm not sure which one is the actual update. For example if I ignore the B163 for now because it's not approved yet, the B162 OTA for example has three files in it and I am not sure what to do with them. For example, some people say to unzip the update.zip file inside a dload folder and some people say just keep it zipped and put it on the root of internal storage so I'm confused a lot.

In the dload method you must use all 3.. But for your model
I give up on HFF... It's useless now other than downloading full ota maybe.
Let me find the link explaining the dload method... Except change the c675 to your number... On the dload method you will have a fresh device wiped off all your data.
Imho I'd wait till you get it through system... The b161 installed perfect.
I don't think HFF is official and is having problems...I deleted it as none of the files seem to work and always gets rejected.
I'll link to the form that had a detailed dload method I used and was successful with the b151.
For dload always use full ota.. With system update you can use partial.

If you want to try to force an update
Find the rom you want to upgrade to
Download the full ota.... And follow this guide

We have an update every month, perhaps aren't the update you are waiting. In September, we will receive GPU turbo update.
If you don't want unlock the bootloader the only thing you can do is wait, if you don't care about your bootloader, unlock it and look for few ways to flash an update

understand
But Huawei updates are based on regions
Only solution is manual flashing
I'm in America with a Indian phone with a American sim.... And I got c675 Indian region update in America..
Just be patient..... You'll get it.
I imported my phone from the UK and using it in Egypt which doesn't have this phone sold officially. I have complained again to the customer service today that I'm not receiving OTA updates and he insisted that I won't be having updates because I'm not using a UK sim and that's their policy so I am seeing now a contradiction between what you're saying and what I was told by the customer service!

agreed. we get updates. sometimes SIM is needed but sometime doesnt. I got bunch of updates on my 6X from China with Indian SIM. anyways, user can dload the full firmware for updating it manually.
Hello seems like my parents are having the same issue. The phones are bought from China and are BKL-AL20.
But looking in about phone it states
Modell: BKL-L09
Version: BKL-L09 8.0.0.110 (C432)
So they seem to be running on very old version. I'm pretty sure that they got OTA updates the first time they opened the phone. When I now try to update the phone says that there are no updates. C432 is Europe and my parents are in Sweden and hence using a Swedish sim-cards.
Is there anyway to get the phones updated, preferably without loosing any data or the hassle of unlocking bootloader and rooting the phones?
Edit: I tried phone updater, HiSuite updater and HiCare updater.
