Getting modded S6 ready to send to Samsung for hardware repair - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know KNOX has been tripped due to the root, TWRP and custom ROM so that part is a lost cause.
Do I just flash Samsung's latest stock ROM back, send it in and hope for the best?
I live in the UK.

Hi! If you live in an European Union County you don't have to worry about that
Samsung will accept your phone without any problems. If not you may try ^^

How does living in the EU and tripping Knox not void your samsung warranty ?

I have this issue.

I would flash stock rom back and then send it in if I was you. Can you keep us all updated on how you get on please.

Keep us updated!

They don't care.

In effects it's not really true that tripping Knox will not void warranty in EU; EU rules says that you can legally mod your software and this will not void warranty on hardware.
But, even if you have 2 years of warranty, the burden of proof of user guiltiness has to be declared by the producer during the first 6 months; and a tripped knox is a proof of an hardare damage (efuse) caused by the user.
So this will actually void your warranty; in the practice, usually Samsung will not take care of this and applies warranty, but that's not sure.

Tripping knox voids your (bonus) Samsung warranty but it does not void your statutory warranty you have with your retailer, whatever they (samsung/repair center/ retailer) might tell you.
Return to stock though

Not really as you say! I had similar situation with S4 . Tripped Knox .... i rested flash counter;unroot; and except know everything needed to be perfect ... but in some way he found out about root and when it was made and also they canceld my warranty ... and also they with my imei they entered that I can't use any warranty in my country ... and i live i EU ( Croatia ) ... Some people had luck as by doing anything like that to your phone automatically any warranty should be denyed no matter what ...

As long as is hardware issue and not related to flashing a bad firmware etc.. they'll just repair the phone.. had two phones in the past send for repair with knox tripped and both repaired by samsung... obviously if the phone is bought in EU,

It is important to know there are 2 kinds of warranty, statutory and voluntary warranty. Your statutory warrranty cannot legally be voided just by rooting! this warranty should be given by your retailer!!! NOT Samsung.
Anyway being in your right and getting your right are 2 different things but if warranty is denied, this is an issue you need to take up with your retailer, not Samsung

[Q] What Variant is my S6?

Hello,
My phone is a SM-G920F w/ 5.0.2 installed. The Baseband is G920FXXU1AOCZ build number LRX22G.G920FXXU1AOCZ . The only reason I'm asking is because I've seen others get an OTA for 5.1.1 but I haven't yet. I was wondering if I could Odin the phone to a UK variant?
The seller from the shop said it was a phone from Isreal flashed with a Region Free Firmware? but when I check the knox it was still intact. Is there any way to find out more information about the phone?
Thank you!
I have the exact same question. I have the G920F international unlocked model as well, using it on AT&T here in the USA. Phone's working great, but no update to 5.1, despite reading reports that Samsung has pushed 5.1 to the international variants. Is it because we're using the phone in the USA? Will we even get the OTA update, or will we have to update manually using ODIN?
Here you go UK ROM 5.1.1 BTU ready for you to flash:

I didn't ask the original question, so my apologies. But I was wondering if you had any advice on how I should proceed to update my device? I have the G920F that I bought unlocked off of Ebay and using it on AT&T here in the USA. It's working fine, but it says there are no updates. I don't even know if it'll even get an OTA pushed to my device since I am not in the originating region?
Should I just wait, or is it safe to go ahead and flash one of these 5.1 roms with ODIN that are for the G920F? If so, which one should I install? I think the first one available for the G920F was the France one. But now there are others. Does it matter which one I install? Or would I have to wait until a North American rom is available?
Thanks!
For reference, my build is G920FXXU1AOCV and my CSC is G920FOJV1AOBL. Not sure what those mean or how it applies to my situation?

Ita still best to stick to your working 5.0.2 ROM and wait for official 5.1.1 OTA update which should come soon. Flashing exposes you to risks like bricking your S6, tripping Knox and voiding your warranty. If can't resist the itch then flash away.

Thanks for response, I assume it's the same risks as me? I also wanted to get rid of the Israel edition and make it UK, will I hit any risks?
Risks are still the same. You can also consider flashing this Israel 5.1.1 stock ROM below:

Thank you again for your replies very helpful. Phones seem to be getting more complicated, but I'll root and install custom rom when warranty is up

Upgrading to Marshmallow with International Stock ROM?

Title pretty much says it all. I have a Galaxy S6 SM-G920I (International, Australia), and I can't be bothered waiting for Marshmallow, the question is if I upgrade via ODIN to 6.0 (XSP, Singapore International ROM), will I void my warranty in ANY way, so I couldn't take it to a store and ask for a warranty claim, and if I want to, when the Australian version comes around, flash the Australian version, will that affect the warranty as well? Thanks in advance!

Is there any way to get back the knox ????

Is there any method to set the KNOX fuse back to 0x0 so we can claim your warranty.
To recover knox status is still one of the most wanted things of samsung devices. Have not heard it can be done.
*This is only for the N900 (Exynos model only)*
Link1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52329946&postcount=76
This details how you can reset the Knox counter to 0x0
Link2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52408318&postcount=87
So this method is usable for our j7 ????
I am also searching for a way but I don't think that it will work for our j7 as the n3 bootloader is different

Maybe we can use this way to install our J700F bootloader but that involves a big risk which can hard brick our device so i request if there's anyone who has more devices and the j7 is not their daily driver to test it. And tell us the results

Changing CSC for dual sim with safety intact?

Searched around and couldn't seem to find a clear answer to it.
So I have a XSG dual sim and want to change to BTU but want to keep the ability to sideload Samsung Pay or at least be able to use it when it's live in UK.
Can I or can I not do that? If I can, what exactly should I do with Odin3?
I have updated my KSA g930fd to official XSG Android 7 and both myKnox and Samsung pay stopped working due to system alteration error although the system is official and knox wasn't tripped
Now I've returned it back to Android 6 KSA and they are working fine!

Hi
Just to correct my previous post. I dind't flash the BL & CSC via ODIN in the begining and that was the reason I had trouble with myKnox.
you should flash AP, BL, CSC, and CP and you won't have any issues with Knox or Samsung pay

That's strange because you get OTAs otherwise. Do you have the bluetooth or LTE version?
