I have noticed that some apps like chrome are jerky/juddery when scrolling compared to my s5.
I started playing around with resolution changer pro...
Then I noticed that when I set the resolution to the 'normal' 2560x1440 but set dpi to 480, now chrome is super smooth!
Could this mean that the apps that are jerky have issues with the default s6 DPI? I would have expected it to be more jerky at default res with 520dpi.
Only problem is it screws up the camera/dialer etc and you need the multi DPI modded versions.

no actualy it isnt strange the higher the dpi and lower the resolution the more smooth the firmware is because screen has to render lesser data and 2k optimization is always not up to the mark on any 2k device so the difference is more prominent

I left the resolution the same though (2560*1440) but changed dpi to 480. Surley that means its rendering more as more is displayed on screen ?

480dpi isn't bigger UI, its smaller , therefore rendering more.

I'm trying to find out what my device's reported screen size category (small, normal, large, etc...) and resolution category (ldpi, mdpi, hdpi, xhdpi) is. According the the Android developer page, my phone could be anywhere from a normal to a large device (going by actual size) although, according to its minimum resolutions it could also be considered an xlarge device. And with a 1280x720 screen, it sits squarely in the xhdpi range, but since the distribution table only has xhdpi phone in the 'normal' size, I'm not even sure if that's what's being reported. Basically, I know my phone's actual size and resolution, but I'm looking for a way to find out what it's REPORTING without needing to write an app to pull the information.
This is what the phone says about it.

I'm pretty.sure this classifieds as large. The note would be extra large. The phones dpi is 320.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Like I said, I know that the phone's resolution is 1280x720 and that the DPI comes out to ~312ppi, but it's the reported categories of screen size and density that I'm looking for. If you taking a look at Android's Supporting Multiple Screens page, you'll see, that according to the screen size in inches, the One X could fit either the normal, or large categories. But if you look at the minimum screen resolution for each size category you'll see that xlarge lists "at least 960dp x 720dp", which the One X ALSO meets.
Anyways, since the only size range that has any data on xhdpi is 'normal', I'm inclined to think that the One X is reporting as 'normal' size, but I've also heard that some of the HD phones report as hdpi, so I'd just like to be SURE. Plus, I'm hoping to find an app or something that I can use on other phones as well.
So I know the phone is 1080p, which means 1920x1080. But since the phone is portrait that turns into 1080x1920, right?
But that's good if I want a wallpaper for just 1 home screen and no scrolling. But if I have 2 home screens and want scrolling, do I need a 2160x1920 wallpaper?
But then if I have three, does that mean I need 3241x1920?
Or am I just going too far? But 1920x1080 wallpapers in landscape will just zoom in won't they?

Yes, yes, no, yes, yes.
2160x1920 is the size of the stock wallpapers. GEL will adjust the scrolling based on him many home screens you have.

This wallpaper is the correct resolution, but what's causing the gap below notification bar? That's Nova launcher.

Also, each launcher can call for a different wallpaper size. 2160x1920 is what the stock launcher calls for. Does Nova call for the same size?

When I used Nova, I believe it actually stated what size it was looking for when setting the wallpaper.
Anybody else have the colors look a little washed out? I tried vivid and standard colors, but barely see a difference between the two. Maybe my S5 has just spoiled me.
Sent from OnePlus One
The OPO does not use a Super AMOLED device so colors seem different, blacks are more grays. You can adjust it accordingly by using the custom presetting
Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54321008&postcount=6
Adjust the settings around till you get it the way you want it.
The S5 is oversaturated, that's probably why this display seems washed out to you, it's a more natural colour balance.

I had the worst problem coming from a note 2 to a nexus 5. I put the nexus and the opo next to each other tonight and the displays look the same. Is just how a IPS display is.

When I have my brightness maxed out and the option to increase brightness in sunlight turned on I see this as well.
It's because most displays these days exceed the sRGB color space, and Android doesn't use color spaces, so colors are generally mapped to the full gamut of the phones' displays instead of trying to match sRGB. The OPO's color is actually VERY accurate compared to most phones out there (a major reason why I got it vs the Sony Z3). Just needs to warm up the white balance a bit.

Try another home screen launcher
If your talking about the dock being on the right hand side in landscape mode thats reliant on the DPI of the screen. The dock on the bottom isnt supported on the stock DPI which is i think 330? I cant remember. You can, if your rooted and you want to have your dock on bottom in landscape you can change the DPI using textdroider DPI to like 220 or 240 and itll unlock most of the features of the 9/10 inch tablets.

Had a few issues with tower dwellers and pocket starship. The top of the screen was cut off on tower dwellers and pocket starships would crash after loading a area, also the chat at the top was cut off. Went back to stock and everything was fine. I barely play those games anyways so its not like it was a massive issue. But there do seem to be some issues.
oh and for some reason stylus wasnt being recognized on Star Wars Commander. That game sucks anyway and stylus isnt needed for it so w.e
Found this post in the regular Verizon S7 section thanks to @jayochs. Cool little hidden feature and seems to work great so far. This will change the DPI from 640(stock) to about 540dpi. I'll show a few examples below, but the article will show even more and tell you how to do it.

I am used to altering DPI with root access, so this find was a godsend.
You can alter DPI through ADB without root access, btw.
This is good though. Could go lower though. I have text size at the lowest settings and turned this on. The notification bar is still a little too big.
Not sure if its worth screwing with though
I did this with Nova Launcher and I really like it. Definitely helping the S7 edge grow on me a little more.
I did this with Nova launcher as well but it didn't seem to stick for the touch wiz launcher. Everything else is condensed
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
I really wish they had a Super Condensed mode. I'd like to run it around 500.
I do like having this to be able to quickly (with one reboot) toggle back to a density that will allow Samsung Pay to work.
After doing this with Nova Launcher I noticed that I don't have smooth scrolling when I hit the recents button
Just FYI to those who don't know... you can change your DPI through ADB without root.
I feel the condensed mode and already low stock DPI is enough.
The 7 Edge has 5.5" @ 640 DPI
The LG G4 has 5.5" @ 640 DPI
The Note 5 has 5.7" @ 540 DPI
Add condensed mode and its smaller. So I am happy with the stock/condensed values.
Doing this also kills android pay which socks, I want to reduce DPI but still use android pay
I switched to condensed DPI and Android Pay is working for me still.
Edit: Nevermind. Tried adding a card to it and says nope.. :\
HBO GO working for anyone else after changing dpi?
