Create profiles like in oneplus one - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone
Having moved from the oneplus one to the s6, one of the things I can't find is user profiles.
on the oneplus one I could set different actions on a profile, for example if I select home profile,it would turn on wifi, turn off mobile data and disable screen lock, work profile would do the opposite.
Can I create profiles on the s6?
thanks

That's not available in the stock S6, it's a feature of CM12S

we're still talking about a device working under android os, is it there anything similar that can be achieved on the s6?
ps: I am using the xtrestolite rom

Tasker and or trigger, might need root access though

NFC Tags/Stickers

Anybody used any with their new Moto X yet?
I ordered these last night.

Topaz 512 chips by WhizTags.
I'll let you know if they work, don't see any reason they shouldn't though.
I'd also be interested in what you use them for. I never got them for my Galaxy S4 because I was never sure what I would do with them. I understand how they work and what the potential uses are, but what is useful in the real world?
I'm currently using some rewritten droid tiles tags that I was using with my galaxy nexus. They work, but the Trigger app flashes on the screen when I scan them.
I've been using tags with profiles for a while now and I don't think I could go back. The automation achieved by tags beats any other process I've tried.
For example, when I leave my room I scan a tag which turns off WiFi and changes volume settings. Then, when I get to my car I scan another tag that turns on Bluetooth, launches Car Home Ultra, connects to my Bluetooth FM transmitter, and plays Pandora. Its much easier than unlocking the phone and changing the settings and launching the apps manually.
I plan on attaching one to my car dock for launching google play music, and pairing with my stereo.
And maybe putting one on my TV remote for launching Netflix or something.
But really I'm just looking forward to experimenting.
I really liked having root so I could modify the NFC apk to allow NFC with the screen locked or off. I know its a security concern, but unlocking the screen is a minor inconvenience.

This would be a useful feature.
Sadly, no root for VZW. Yet. *crosses fingers*
I'm using this xposed module to activate torchlight without turning on the device and it works like a charm.

It would be reeeeaaaly neat wenn they could also add NFC to this module!!
EDIT: I already wrote to that guy (Wanam) few hours ago asking if there was a possibility of having such a module in future..
His answer was: "No plans for a HW toggle for NFC" [emoji53]

Anybody know what exactly qualifies as the screen being "On"?
Is the Screen "on" when Moto Display is showing the time and notifications?
Just got them. They work great.
Bonus points, no duplicate colors.

No. The screen must be on and unlocked. This makes it too inconvenient to overcome the usefulness. If I have to power on and unlock the screen I might as well just manually turn on or off whatever feature I wanted at that point.

I used to use them with my Galaxy nexus. Here's what my setup was:
Office - disable BT, enable wifi, and set all sounds to vibrate
Car - enable BT, disable wifi, set sound to appropriate level and launch Spotify
Home - disable BT, enable wifi, and set sound to appropriate level
I would scan them upon arrival at one of those places. While they were useful, I found that there wasn't anything that they could do that I couldn't also do with Tasker. Although, I think the NFC tags are probably a better option since NFC uses minimal power as compared to Tasker functions (depending upon how you set them up, that is).
I haven't set the NFC stuff up since I got my X, but I will likely do so soon.

Galaxy s6 mi band and notification access problem

Hi all,
i own a galaxy s6 from 3 days and i can't solve a problem with mi band and mi fit app.
My bracelet don't vibrate when i get a notification, i know how to configure the mi fit app becouse i already owned it with another smartphone.
Obiviusly under setting - security- notification access the flag is on but it's not working.
If i swtich the notification access to off and than on the bracelet start to work as it should but it stopping to work in a shot time randomly.
Is it a rom bug or what? Has someone my same problem? someone know how to fix it?
Thanks!
No one can help?
Hi Scag,
I have the same problem with Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Nabu X band at least since the 5.1/5.1.1 (I'm not sure which one) update.
Unfortunately I can't help you as I don't know any solution other than switching off/on the notification access.
Hi Scag,
Replying to say i have the identical issue with the Mi Band and the Galaxy S6.
Did you manage to find a solution?
S6 Edge + & Android Auto
I'm having the same problems you guys are except the OS keeps unchecking Android Auto Notification Access. Very annoying.
Hope someone has a fix for this.
My solution
Hello all,
the problem is well known and exists because you use the custom miband app. So if you want to have notification working with S6, you have to TEMPORARY uninstall you custom app, then install the app from market and activate needed notifications. Unfortunatelly only 3 times because of internal xiaomi limitations. Miband have to have applied rule for changing notifications. After setting notifications up, try if it works and if "yes" uninstall the official app(but not clear the cash!). After that you can install the custom one again and enjoy the device expirience.
If you're like to experiment, you can manually search the miband files, open and try to find out the records for activated notification. I can imagine you can then manually add all other notifications you need.
Hope I could help.

Does Oxygen OS include a profiles feature?

So I've been using Lineage OS 15.1 for a long time now and it includes the profiles feature that I can change device settings based on when I connect/disconnect from certain Wi-Fi networks or Bluetooth devices. I use it to silence my phone at work/school as well as other things like turn off my lock screen in my car.
Does Oxygen OS have a similar feature it is there a way to do it with a third party app?
You could probably achieve all that using tasker even if OxygenOs doesn't have it.
Oxygen OS on my OP6 doesn't have this feature, well unless i'm blind
Thanks for the reply guess I'll have to see what my options are once I get my phone on Thursday.
Edit: Found this app I'm going to try out.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.aprofile
Check macrodroid app
Also gravitybox has an option to use wifi as a smart unlock

Is there an alternative way to autostart Apps? (cause the firmware seems to block it)

Hey guys!
Problem is the following:
I cannot get a single app to autostart on my phone.. Tried Tasker, BubbleUPNP and some more.. On every other device I own these programs start automatically on boot when configured but not on my Leagoo M9 Pro with Stock Android 8.1..
There seems to be something built into the OS which blocks autostart.. For testing I gave the apps every permission possible, deactivated power saving for them and turned of other power saving options and a function called "Duraspeed"..
Sadly there aren't custom ROMs for this device..
I can root it via Magisk if it helps..
Best Regards and thank you for your support!

Sadly disappointed with various limitations and recurring issues

I received the phone and have been using it since 2/10. I have the 8/256gb version with the Chinese ROM. The phone is awesome with regards to build quality and so on, but I'm extremely frustrated with the issues that I'm seeing daily. I'm ready to ditch it and return to my Xiaomi Mi Mix.
Notifications are all turned off by default and every app notification must be turned on individually. So every new app needs this manual step.
Notifications, even if enabled correctly, lock screen, does not show up on the lock screen
Various apps do not receive new "data" such as emails until opened. (runs in background, just noticed the application freeze option, and turned that off)
Device Administrator removes MS Outlook as device admin regularly, used to be daily. (required by work)
When plugged into USB-C for Android Auto, must change setting to Transfer files, every time in order to activate Android Auto.
Resets Assistive Voice App nightly, removes Google Assistant and elects none, not even breeno voice.
Depending on task, it switches to use the Breeno Browser instead of Chrome as an intermediary and therefore does not fully like to the next task.
Swiping down on home screen brings up breeno search via breeno browser.
Cannot activate Location Sharing Services even if Location is turned on. I think this has to do w/ limitations on the "Region"
Things that I know does not work
Cannot use 3rd party messaging app. Once 3rd party app is set as default, it switches back to Oppo msgs app due to "security"
Cannot use another Launcher.
Cannot use Google Assistant wake up phrase
Can anyone else confirm if you're also experiencing the above? I'm willing to reset the phone but I think these are "defaults" and not like a choice I made during set-up to cause these issues. Thanks for reading.
The issues you mention are common and are part of the challenge of owning a phone with a Chinese rom. The trade-off is that you own a unique phone with awesome hardware.
I have been able to get all notifications to work though adjusting the notification options as you say, but you can also adjust the power saver and start-up options. You can also lock apps in the recent tasks screen.
You can also uninstall some of the built-in Chinese apps via adb. See the thread in the Find X forum. For example I have uninstalled the browser so it never comes up. I have not uninstalled the launcher as I am ok with the Oppo one.
Issues I have not been able to resolve: changing the default messaging and assistant apps for the long term.
For me, I know the experience of buying a phone with a Chinese rom is never going to be as smooth as a pixel or Samsung in terms of usability, but I love the fact that it is unique and appreciate the hardware (eg charging speed).
Unfortunately, the uniqueness of the phone does not overwhelm these limitations that causes daily resetting of certain defaults for me.
I'm ok w/ not using the Launcher and some other items like google assistant. However, other limitations really create barriers that can't be looked past for me.
I think I'll look for an opportunity to get the Xiaomi Mi 10 pro when possible and sell the Reno Ace.
